REALIZING YOU’RE SURROUNDED BY NEGATIVE ENERGY
Hi girls! Often times, we feel certain ways and we can’t really explain it, but something just feels off. In my opinion, in those moments, it is your intuition trying to let you know that you’re surrounding yourself with negative energy. Here are some reasons why your energy might not be as optimal as you’d want it to be.
1. THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU HAVE ILL-INTENTIONS
Girls, if I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: BE AWARE OF THE PEOPLE YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH. It is SO important to recognize when someone doesn’t have your best interests at heart. If you keep them around, all they’ll do is drag you down to there level.
2. YOU KNOW THAT YOU AREN’T LIVING YOUR LIFE THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE LIVED
Whether it be with life goals, education or personal issues, if you feel like something is internally off, it most likely is. Take some time to reflect on who you are and what you ultimately want for yourself. Create a life that is the most fulfilling to YOU, not to anyone else.
3. COMPARAISON; THE THIEF OF JOY
If you are someone who is constantly on social media and following people living your “dream life”, it’s no shock that your energy feels off. Envy and jealousy can bring your energy from 100 to 0 real quick. Instead of looking at others and thinking about how you want what they have, think about what you can do to achieve what you desire.
so much love,
a girl unfiltered 💋

new year resolution ideas for self care!!!
1. drink ample water every day — use a tracker for the first two months to make it a habit.
2. only eat when you are hungry, don't force food inside you.
3. moisturize your skin properly everyday
4. do a monthly gratitude jar (there are pretty templates on pinterest if you are an artsy person and if you are not, lists are amazing!)
5. stay curious — make a list of things you want to explore and feed your brain
6. do something everyday that makes you happy — it can be something small like texting a friend you've not talked to in a while or just indulging in ice-cream and netflix.
7. prioritize yourself — do things for you.
8. quit being a donkey — it's high time you stop carrying the burden of others, be it emotional of physical.
9. learn to apologize effectively because good apologies can save you a lot of trouble and bring you peace. proper accountability does wonders (check this out its my favourite resource, it's downloadable)
10. skin care daily, lovely people. let's get that into routine.
11. have goals for yourself, it's good. but don’t get lost in the process of chasing it. experience life on the way.
12. check in on your loved ones once in a while.
13. go to bed early? at least try??
14. go on a digital detox per month/ two months
15. LOVE YOURSELF MORE THIS NEW YEAR! YOU ARE PRECIOUS, FRIEND. REMIND YOURSELF THAT DAILY!

if you are 1) currently in a university where your student healthcare covers hormone therapy, and 2) in a good financial, emotional, and social position to start hormone therapy, i would recommend pursuing it. because in my experience, it's a huge pain in the ass to get an endocrinologist once you're on your own
#unless you live near a planned parenthood or another equivalent to that#but in general you might as well take advantage of the mandatory student health insurance while you have it#it's also cheaper than you might expect. my vials cost $40 CAD for 4 months and then the injection materials are like a couple dollars each#for me i got a therapist with the university and asked them to recommend me to one of the uni's doctors#so i got to skip some of the waitlisting process yay#and then even after getting access to hormones i went to the clinic maybe 5 or 6 times because i needed a nurse to help me with injections#all of which was 'free' because it was with the university#now that i'm graduated though i need to find a new endocrinologist and it turns out the process is WAY more complicated on your own 🤡#of course your mileage may vary depending on how based your school is but it's definitely worth checking imo 🤷#beepbeep.txt#wanted to say this because i basically didn't use the uni health services until my last year and i was like 'wow#'i'm actually getting so much shit for free right now'#like i was seeing a therapist and a dietician and the endocrinologist and a nurse simultaneously at one point#and i might've missed out on all that if i didn't have someone tell me how easy it was to get help if you ask the right questions#so there's my word of wisdom for anyone who might benefit from it.......#also going to post tips about injections later because i think that would also help people out 👍

me: i don’t wanna be a cog in the capitalist machine!! my job doesn’t care about me and i literally don’t get paid enough to care about it!!
the part of me relentlessly scrutinized for being the family fuckup: but,,,,when i do good job customers like me,,,,when i do extra managers think i’m the best,,,,
#bird noises#work sucks in a lot of ways#it’s just food service nothing special and it will destroy my body eventually#but also it is genuinely better for my mental health to just. get positive feedback and interact with people in a nice way#i havent really had any terrible customers yet. the occasional grumpy or kinda rude one but nothing i cant shake off in a second#that probably helps#its funny bc my parents notice the difference and its like GEE I WONDER HOW ELSE THIS COULD HAVE OCCURRED#PERHAPS IF THE HUMANS I LIVE WITH WERE ALSO NICE TO ME#but alas……#anyway thinking about this bc i accidentally volunteered myself to do two people’s closing tasks and that sucked#but my manager said im amazing soooooooooo maybe it was worth it#i’m gonna fight whoever’s in charge of their advertising tho for saying they have a ‘competitive wage’#which is $3-4 less than the nearby ‘good’ places money-wise AND ALSO. exactly the same or less than what people were making at this location#THREE YEARS AGO#which i know because i worked here. making $2.50 less. but i talked to the new hires and found out they made a good chunk more#we do get tips which is like an extra $1-1.50 so thats nice but its not competitive my friend#its barely acceptable#theyre lucky no one else would hire me#also pisses me off bc their main website advertises their starting wages as ACTUALLY competitive but c’est la vie#i’m in a weird situation where i need to Be Employed more than i need money per se so i’m fine with it for now#wren stop talking about panera challenge

ed recovery and the holidays
This time of year can be very stressful, especially for those with eating disorders! Most gatherings are centered around food, or at least have some kind of food there, and a lot of the time, that’s overwhelming to us, understandably so.
So here are some things that have helped me get through it :)
Allow yourself to have the food you enjoy if you can. It doesn’t have to be anything that will cause you intense fear, maybe just a bite to start off! I have a massive sweet tooth, and while I was in my eating disorder, any kind of sweets were a no no, but I missed them so much! I found that when I let myself have (and enjoy) the foods I loved, especially around Christmas when there are so many good sweets, it made the events more pleasant and also helped me step out of my ed shell.
If you gain any weight this month, please, please try not to let it get to you. I think most people know that around the holidays, people gain weight. It’s a fact well known by our society, and while the people you may be around could have unhealthy coping skills for this, please don’t let yourself succumb to them.
Going off of that last one, it seems like the holidays are huge for diet talk among loved ones. If you’re getting together with people, there’s a chance you may be exposed to some triggering topics. That’s not a reason not to attend events, it’s an opportunity to strengthen your recovery. As I’ve stated in a previous post, if anyone says anything to you about your body, what you’re eating, or how much you’re eating, do not be afraid to set boundaries. I’m a pretty non-confrontational person myself, so I know how hard this can be, but it can be as simple as changing the subject, or saying something (I put a little list below)
If you’d rather be more open, tell them as much as you’d like. Just know, it’s not your job to educate people, but you can certainly do so if you want!
If all of the people you’re around are involved in diet talk, do not feel bad about separating yourself from the conversation. Leave the room if you need to! There’s nothing wrong with that at all.
Practice mindfulness and grounding. Remind yourself what you’ve learned throughout your recovery journey and how far you’ve come. Even if you’re on day one, that’s still an accomplishment you should be proud of! The holidays will come and go, the parties will end, the get-togethers will end, and it won’t seem so prominent anymore. You can get through this.
Look at things as matter of factly as you can. This is something that always helps me, so I’m hoping it’ll help you, too. I start by asking myself if this is really what I want: Do I want to have all my thoughts consumed by my ed when I’m around my friends and family or do I want to try to enjoy my food and not worry (to the best of your ability, I understand that it’s very hard not to worry about something when you’re super focused on it) about the numbers, and have a nice time with the people I care about? I then go to: Your looks have nothing to do with your worth. You may be bigger or smaller than you were in the past, but you’re still beautiful! Your size does not determine your worth, nor does it define your beauty!
If you relapse: There’s nothing to be ashamed of. You’re not a failure. The progress you’ve made is not suddenly lost. Talk to someone you trust, or if you can get out of it by yourself, please be gentle and treat yourself with love and compassion. Life is not supposed to be about numbers, food, and other disordered behaviors. You’ll make it out, you’re strong and your ed does not control you.
Things you can do or say if someone says something to you about your body/weight/eating habits/etc
“Is it okay if we talk about this another time?”
“Let’s talk about this another time.”
“I’m not really comfortable talking about this.”
“Please don’t say that.”
“I’m not comfortable talking about diets/exercise/etc”
“Please don’t make comments about my body.” “Please don’t make comments about my eating habits.”
“I’m in recovery from an eating disorder, please don’t make comments like that.”
“I’m in recovery from an eating disorder.”
“So, how’s work?”
[simply ignore them]
[change the subject]
