"Alright the match is starting. Players are in position. And WE'RE ON"

"Chaser Mary MacDonald almost got hit by a bludger launched at her. Honesty, what the fuck are griffindor beaters doing? That's like their only job." Everyone can hear sirius' fuck you on that.

"Oo, griffindor seeker has spotted the snitch. She's going for it. She's going to get it. And.. she's a lump on the ground. Honestly McKinnon, you can see the bloody snitch from half way through the pitch but you can't see the ground in front of your FUCKING FACE"

"god that must've hurt. YOU FUCKING DESERVE IT AVERY-"

"Any ways back to the game. Where is that fucking quaffle".

"Seems like james potter has finally took a break from swooning over slytherin seeker black and is speeding towards the goals with the quaffle."

"Let's see if slytherin keeper dolohov has the skill to block the goal or if he's just a useless dick".

Regulus has no idea how he got into this situation. What had started off as a casual Friday evening was slowly turning into one of the strangest situations of his life. Trust Sirius and James five shots in to make some questionable decisions.

Remus and Regulus were sitting in a crowded bar. With barely any space between the small circular tables and the lights flashing purple and blue, Regulus felt slightly nauseous. 

They had started off with innocent drinks at James and Regulus’ apartment. It remained that way until James and Sirius started to play truth or dare. Each round becoming more absurd than the last.

That is how Regulus ended up here. At a karaoke bar. With his boyfriend wearing Spiderman pyjamas (that last fitted him when he was fourteen) and his brother wearing a pink cowboy hat complete with matching boots standing on the stage. 

“God what have you done?” James started, leaning dramatically into the mic stand. His midriff on display as well as his shins thanks to the way too small sleepwear. “You’re a pink pony girl,” punctuated with a finger pointing at his best friend. 

“And you dance at the club,” Sirius continues with a twirl. A spotlight somewhere behind them following their movements. “Oh mama, I’m just having fun”

Regulus glances at Remus. His eyes transfixed on Sirius. His mouth slightly opened in bewilderment. “Those two idiots are ours, aren’t they?” Regulus says to Remus, leaning his glass in. Remus taps his own glass to Regulus’ in response. “You bet your ass they are,” Remus smirks. 

“It’s where I belong,” James continues, shooting a wink at Regulus. He can feel his cheeks burning as he nods along to the performance. “Down at the Pink Pony Club”

Idk if literally anyone else thinks about this, but I’m also always thinking about Harry being all sad because people don’t really see him when they look at him, they see the bwl or his parents

And yeah there’s a ton of people who do see Harry as just the bwl, but like,, outside of like,, the order and a couple of others, most people probably aren’t seeing Harry’s parents in him, like Lily and James weren’t famous till they died (outside of James being the sole heir to an old line, although it does raise the question of if people took issue with him marrying Lily since she was a muggleborn, anyways how many people would care that much about James being the last Potter outside of other old family lines?) so outside of the people they personally interacted with, most probably didn’t pay that much attention to them, whereas Harry is hella famous and has been that way for most of his life

Idk if I can actually articulate my point but anyways once again thinking about a lot of people from the marauders generation ending up in the hp generation, and Harry’s all worried about no one caring about him anymore because he thinks most people only care about him as a replacement for his parents, but a lot of the people from his generation are only excited to meet them because they’re Harry’s parents

Idk it’s also funny to me to think about it being like still in the middle of the war and the order really caring about Lily and James being back and feeling more confident, and outside of like Snape, most of the death eaters and Voldemort aren’t fully sure who they’re looking at for a few seconds, like they’ve just been so focused on Harry for so long, only caring about them when that prophecy came out

(and considering it had to have come out around when Harry was born because due dates are so fickle and he was 1 when they were killed, it had to be max a year till they were found, not too long in the grand scheme of things)

Also I’m imagining that this is more teenage James and Lily, so it doesn’t help that they don’t look exactly how they did before dying

(My reasoning for most death eaters not caring about James and Lily before the prophecy is that I believe the theory that most order members weren’t public knowledge, they didn’t have to go into hiding until the prophecy was made (if DE’s cared about them, no way they wouldn’t have been in a protected house from the start), we don’t really know what defying Voldemort means so it could’ve been anything, doesn’t necessarily mean it was in a way Voldemort would’ve cared about till he sat down to figure out which family the prophecy could be about and was like “oh wait”, and some other reasons that make sense only to me and idk how to word them)

(Like I really think they’d be in the same amount of being famous as Tonks would be pre-prophecy, she’s an order member, she’s an auror like James who probably doesn’t take shit from all those death eaters who should’ve been in Azkaban and are now living normal lives, and she has a dramatic family history, her mom was completely disowned from a very well known family for marrying her dad, when they didn’t even completely disown Sirius!! And then she had a baby with a known werewolf, yet there’s not ever really a sense that she’s that famous or that death eaters care that much about her)

“Yeah, I- I-” James fumbled over his words, feeling vulnerable and exposed. This wasn’t how he was, how he was supposed to be, he was supposed to be funny and supportive and helpful and a myriad of other positive adjectives . He certainly wasn’t supposed to be holding back tears and baring his heart for someone else to see. The urge to flee the situation was itching at his skin and he couldn’t stand to be with Regulus any longer, not when it felt like he suddenly knew more about James than anyone else.

Quidditch is funny because I saw "managed to win with a narrow five point lead" and that means ten seconds before the game ended you were down by 145 POINTS. How bad do you have to be to be down that bad? Would that even feel like a victory to anyone other than the seeker?

No I do not haha. James hates Slytherins and Death Eaters and even leaving that aside I just don't think he'd go for Sirius's weirdo little brother in a million years. They'd have to be totally different characters in my opinion. 🫠

James and Sirius (Sirius: “I got your back”)

Gryffindor are winning the match by 150 points in the final of the Quidditch House Cup and James is determined, as the captain of the team, to win this one, though his heart dives as he sees the Slytherin Seeker start to chase after the unseen snitch. He is near the goal, and if he shoots and scores, it won't matter if Slytherin get the snitch, because Gryffindor will win and James will be immortalised forever as the captain who finally brought the cup home to Gryffindor; the only problem is that the Slytherin keeper is barrelling towards him and a bludger is doing the same from the opposite direction. Sirius flies up behind him, beater bat raised, and winks at James, and through their uncanny, silent communication, James knows that Sirius will take care of the bludger and take out the Slytherin keeper at the same time--all Sirius says is "I got your back", before Gryffindor are finally, finally the Quidditch champions.
