“Remember! The harder the growing, the higher the grading!” Growled the teacher as the rest of his class started to pack their things and leave.

Mr. Derwen Pembroke was Madam Sprout’s gloomier Welsh replacement after the war. Of the few teachers left, not many came back to Hogwarts. The lack of staff meant that he was the only herbology professor, one who hated teaching introduction classes, as he felt he was overqualified. He constantly reminded his students of it and only kept his rudeness to a minimum with his Advanced crew. As a Herbology 101 student, Draco absolutely despised him.

“Mister Malfoy.” Draco stopped at the door. “You are failing my class.” He turned around and walked deeper inside the class towards his incredibly bored-looking teacher. “Actually, I believe I am not, Professor.” Mr. Pembroke rolled his eyes and put his feet up on his already muddy desk. “You’re right, I’m sorry. You are not failing.” Draco felt he was being condescending. “Yet.” Of course he was. “But, if your thumb doesn’t get as green as that damn tie very soon, you most definitely will be.” He sighs “I would like for you to be tutored for this assignment. Mr. Longbottom should be at the AH2 greenhouse right about now. He’ll explain everything.” Draco nodded, keeping his groaning hushed as he turned to leave the classroom. “One more thing.” Mr. Pembroke stopped him. “Don’t ever try to correct me again, Mr. Malfoy. No one likes a smartass.” The boy didn’t argue, he knew better than to bargain with a snake. “Of course, Professor.” “Don’t be a suck up either.” He was taken aback. What did this man want? But, Derwen laughed before he had the chance to finish his thought. “I’m just kidding, Draco. Don’t be so uptight.” “Well, there’s not much left for me to be now, is there, Sir?” “Smartass.” He snorts.

AH2 meant Advanced Herbology II. Their greenhouse was farther from the castle and closer to the forest, and only AH2 students or personally approved ones, like Draco, were allowed to use it. The small runned down shack didn’t interest many students, anyway. It looked old and disheveled, nothing very appealing.

When he got there, the so-called greenhouse was empty and Neville was nowhere to be found. He wasn’t really in the mood to look for him, so he hovered around all the weird looking plants, many of which he had never even seen before.

As he walked, he noticed a small passage towards what seemed to be like an extension of the place. It ended up being much bigger than what it hinted to from the outside, probably by an Undetectable Extension charm, like the one he used for his bag. It looked more like a national botanical garden than a stupid herbology class greenhouse. Entering the room, a faint melody could be heard from what Draco assumed to be the solarium.

When Draco walked into the sunlit room, he saw her. He saw the bows in her hair first. They were yellow like her skirt and the laces on her shoes.

“Are you lost?” The girl asked without turning around. Draco’s taken aback. He didn’t think she had even noticed his presence. “What?” “I’m asking if you are lost.” She says matter-of-factly. “Oh. Well, I guess I kind of am.” He tries to find the right words by rubbing the back of his neck, “...Sorry.” but she turns to face him with a bright smile he definitely didn’t expect. “No worries! I completely understand. This place is an absolute maze!” Her laugh was warm and it made the boy dizzy. Haven’t heard anyone be so friendly to him in a long time, he tries to change the conversation, so as to not think about it too much. “I’m actually waiting for Longbottom.” “That makes sense.” She smiles. “You can wait here if you want. He shouldn’t take long.” Turning back to caring for her plants, she shifts on her feet. “So… what are you working on?”

I have seen many headcanons of an au presented in Hogwarts,and the truth is I don't like the idea of ​​Giyuu being Ravenclaw,Sabito from Gryffindor and Makomo in Hufflepuff,or I'm simply too stupid to understand it,but in my version Makomo is Ravenclaw,Sabito is Hufflepuff and Giyuu is in Slytherin,and will you say why I put them here? Wow,Makomo is in some ways very intelligent, and even though she was hardworking I think it was obvious that she was not someone with a strong sense of justice but rather a strong desire for revenge Sabito was also someone who was somewhat hardworking,he was the first of the two to appear before Tanjiro to help him,he was someone with a strong sense of justice and very kind,very important qualities in a Hufflepuff,and even though Sabito did not have that much faith in that Tanjiro could defeat the hand demon,he could not deny the facts on the table,because he also trained him And now if you're wondering,"Hey, why did you put Giyuu in Slytherin? Hey, I know the Regulus adopts Harry trope is all fun and games and I love it but like you can't honestly tell me that he wouldn't (also) cuasi-adopt Draco, Luna and Neville because like

Are you seriously telling me that Regulus wouldn't be the proud uncle of his favourite cousin's son!? He would probably steal Draco at least twice a week!

That he wouldn't have his bestie's daughter at his house as many days as the year have? He would probably take Luna and Harry on vacations. To the beach or the mountains together they go. And when Pandora died he would offer all the help possible to Xenophilius, and he would tell Luna, just as he does Harry, stories of her mum, and she had always been his Soulmate even though they would never have a romantic relationship. Also he would raise hell the first time he heard about Luna being bullied.

Then whe have Neville, who is such a sweet kid, and after hearing that it was his cousin the one that did that to his parents he can't help but feels guilty. So he goes and apologises to Augusta. And somehow, she had just lost her son, and she feels old, and has found herself raising a toddler. So she accepts his apology, because he's young and somehow he reminds him a little to the boy she lost. So she cries, and is Regulus the one that is there that day and many others. And from that moment on, Neville becomes a common fixture to Regulus's house. There aren't going to be any window child dropping this time around.

And Harry couldn't be happier, it was strange at first. Finding himself suddenly in the care of this man child of wizard. But he feels safe. And loved. Oh so loved. So he never felt jealous when kids started appearing, in fact he is just happy about it all in general. Having a parent, having siblings, and cousin and a sister in all but blood. So he feels content.

Also, Regulus having to send three of his children to Howarts at the same time is just an emotional wreck

Been lately on a Harry Potter fanfic binge, can't stop it only add to it, anyway

Hermione gets sorted into Slytherin, Draco into Hufflepuff

Chaos ensues when both are completely done with their (not for long) houses and as such join forces (with great effort and lots of mutual disdain) to get a resorting. (Of course for various reasons, Draco not fancying possible disownment - the faint memory of whispers about previous cases in his family giving him shudders - while Hermione got the memo immediately, mugglborn really not welcome, halfbloods already seeming to struggle, got it on the first day, hard not to see shit thrown into your face, got enough experience as a black person back in primary school). Anyway. Lots of bargaining, grumbling, school start and break downs (more on Draco's side, tis little drama queen and not writing letters - he ain't that crazy to break news to his parents cough father cough before resorting -, Hermione taking on a more seething cold rage befitting an scorned 11 year old)

Somehow this translates into near herculean effort put into academics making them the best of the best for the year (well half year, the resorting a work in progress) since veeeery long ("Ya sure they shouldn't have been sorted into ravenclaw" cue in dirty look from Draco). Also as last ditch attempt they try to poison the hat (charms don't work on hat) to get him manipulated enough for him to resort them into their proper houses (ravenclaw and slytherin) so later they can feign ignorance about how the hat must have made a mistake

Bonus: Draco murderous lil badger/duckling/snakeling on quidditch field with Cedric trying for head ruffles

Hermione working through her anger in being put in this shithole without options of transfer getting into very (passive) aggressive intellectual trade offs over boiling cauldron with Professor (mutters incompetent, can't get her resort out of racist snake pit) Snape

(surprisingly no bashing, everyone alive for more chaos, but fear not, Snape despairing and close to heart attack over Hermione's poison attempts on hat, Lily cackling over her besties karma "Hey, you were the one grumbling over the lack of promising students, see now you have one very bright Slytherin to teach")
