What’s the best way to read comics (assuming you want to buy them and not pirate)? Buying collections/omnibuses? Or individual issues? Or the DC infinite subscription thing maybe? If it’s any current run obviously the local comic shop would have them or could pull order them, but what if you want something that’s not from the last 12 months? What do you think?

Oh man it’s really so subjective tbh, personally I love collecting physical comics but that adds up very very quickly. Omnibuses are great and are cheaper than buying every individual comic for a run (most of the time) and are a bit easier for early readers to keep track of stories that may be told through multiple different comic book runs.

The most budget friendly option is sailing the seven seas but DC Infinite is definitely the most budget friendly option with payment involved. There are some issues I have with the site like some comics being locked behind the Ultra paywall for seemingly no reason or comics not visible until 6 months after they’re released (you can still read them the week they come out but after that you gotta wait. It’s an incentive for you to buy a physical copy).

If you don’t want something from the last 12 months, all options you’ve said are great! If you truly want to just read one comic run then you may have to order it online, I don’t think I’ve ever collected an entire comic run from just one comic shop, for comic shops you gotta have a “it would be cool if I found ___” mentality. As you’ve said, you can ask your shop and they might be able to order you the entire run if you wish!

I hope at least some of this helps it feels like I was mostly just throwing words at the wall, happy comic reading!!

i played rune factory 4 on the 3ds back in highschool and idk i just really loved the name clorica for some reason, so then i invented "clora" from it, to make it sound like more of a real name (but still maintaining that fantasy ish aspect) and apparently clora actually IS a real name BAHAH so i guess i succeeded?? and ever since then ive always used the name clora in any fantasy-ish RPGS, so i have a whole multiverse of cloras out there LOL. but THANK YOUUU im glad you think its as pretty as i do!!🥰 (even if it does kinda sound like chlorine LMAO which honestly ALSO sounds like it could be a pretty name... if only it wasnt already a word😩)

Sleep, Creep, Leap: How I See this Garden Axiom as a Metaphor for Sakura's Growth

Was talking to my mom about gardening today (she's like Umemiya with her plants, srsly) and she reminded me of the concept "sleep, creep, leap" that gardeners have stood by for years.

And it just. It reminds me so much of Sakura. Like. I can't.

The theory is that with transplanted sprouts/plants, they go through a three year cycle (like Japanese high school, anyone?)

The first year after transplant is the "sleep" year. The plant must reestablish its roots in unfamiliar soil. Almost all of the growth will happen underground with very little foliage activity or noticeable upwards or outwards growth.

Ergo, Sakura, year one: learning to "put down roots" in a new place, learning that "new soil" isn't always toxic or harmful or barren. Undergoing great personal growth in his own heart and mind, which isn't always readily or apparently expressed outwardly.

The second year is "creep." The plant begins to grow actively, noticeably. It has taken to the soil and is ready to make the most of it. Both foliage and upwards/outwards growth is apparent, and the roots continue to spread, not just trying to survive but looking to thrive. Some small blooms may happen, and if it's a fruit bearing plant, some smaller-than-usual fruits may be produced, but the plant has yet to reach its full potential.

Sakura as a second year: more comfortable in his place, more willing and able to display what he's learned and how he learned it. Able to open himself up more and begin to bloom into the leader and person he always should have been and could have been, if nurtured properly from the start. He continues to grow in his understanding of himself and others, and is able to interact with people with less embarrassment and more genuine pleasure.

The third year is "leap." This is when the plant has reached its full size. The foliage and roots are established and healthy. Its blooms and fruit are abundant, fragrant, and usually sized. This is, as my mom said, "The plant at its healthiest and happiest, it has flourished into everything it should be".

Sakura, in his third year, the Furin Representative (not the Top of Furin), fully bloomed into his true potential. Fully trusting in his place, his friends, and himself. Fully understanding the kindness he was withheld, and how to go about sharing the kindness he's found with others. He is confident, rooted and grounded in the truths he's learned, the hurt he's gone through, and the healing he's done. Makochi, he knows, is a place he will always get to stay.

Delm (left) is Death and Brody (right) is War. Since they can (along with Pestilence and Famine) inflict whatever status on a person, Delm is terrified of accidentally killing someone pre-apocalypse. And so he's basically a pacifist that can never say the right thing and gets beaten up and refuses to fight back. Brody tries to be his bodyguard of sorts but Delm is slippery and just vanishes and shows up freshly injured with a smile cause "well, I mean I can't /die/, dude. what's the problem?"
