The ending my heart needs to that saga 😭😭😭

Blacleria is BACK! 🥳🤭After a full month full of frustration, because I constantly hated my all my drawing attempts, I thought... f*ck it, I do a full painting now. Let's see how it works out. And now I am really proud, and a bit nervous (because I am proud...lol). I also experimented a bit with my style. For the background, I used another software, which is specialized in imitating traditional painting media. Sirius and Bertha Jorkins

One of the most underrated moments of Sirius’s emotional intelligence in Goblet of Fire is him clocking that Bertha Jorkins’ supposed forgetfulness is completely out of character. In The Daily Prophet, Bagman brushes her off as scatterbrained, but Sirius (who hasn’t seen her in over a decade) immediately recognises that something isn’t right. And he doesn’t just vaguely remember her; he remembers her vividly, enough to say outright, “She was a bit dim, but she had an excellent memory for gossip.”

What makes this so striking is that Sirius is the only person who actually notices something’s off. The people she works with every day don’t question it. Bagman dismisses it entirely. But Sirius, who hasn’t interacted with her in years, immediately knows that her behaviour is fundamentally wrong.

This moment is interesting on multiple levels. First, it speaks to Sirius’s perceptiveness—he instinctively recognises that someone’s fundamental cognitive traits don’t just shift without cause. And of course, he’s right: Bertha’s behaviour is the result of a memory charm placed on her by Barty Crouch Sr. But more than that, it highlights the way he pays attention to people. He doesn’t just remember her vaguely—he remembers who she was.

Also, As an aside he really doesn’t hold back on calling her an idiot (go off pookie).

“She was an idiot. Very nosy, but no brains, none at all. It’s not a good combination, Harry. I’d say she’d be very easy to lure into a trap.”

So in this scene, he’s not just recognising the memory charm, he’s also very accurately predicting what happened to her. Bertha is lured straight into Voldemort’s hands, because she’s silly enough to go off with a man she thought was dead (girl be serious- why are you going off with a man in the middle of a forest- haven’t you heard any of the podcasts?)

So I hate saying this, but hear me out: Barty Crouch Jr is the one thing JKR did better than the fandom.

Canon Barty is actually interesting. I don't mean likeable, I mean fascinating. He has more backstory than the entire rest of the Marauders era combined. Why is his canon so ignored? It has so much to it to dive into, so many angles to explore, and everyone chooses cute little Slytherin skittle instead.

You know how fucking sharp you have to be to impersonate someone for ten months? Not one tell, not one slip up or moment of weakness. To know their personality and mannerisms so well that not even their friends recognize the difference? To not mess up your schedule and forget to take the polyjuice potion even once?

Barty Crouch Jr got 12 OWLs for a reason. That kid is a fucking GENIUS. No one lesser could pull all of that off.

I may not like him, but I respect his game.

Today I hung out with the person who introduced me to ATYD (and therefore the marauders fandom). Every time I get together with her I am reminded that for someone I only really knew for three months, she had a profound impact on my life.

In a butterfly effect way, I never would have read or written marauders fanfic, I never would have joined an ATYD book club and made those friends, I never would have gone to Scotland.

Separately, since she introduced me to my church community, I never would have known those people, and I wouldn't have been able to turn to them after I had surgery and couldn't recover alone.

Also: she named her daughter Lily and one of the three reasons she chose that name was for Lily Evans Potter. She's a gem. ❤️

Don't even get me started, the OC-ification of Barty Crouch Jr is one of my least favorite things in this fandom. Why would you make him adorable when you can make him a complete psychopath and an absolute menace?

That was everything I needed it to be and more!

Canonically, Crookshanks took to Sirius immediately. He had a human understanding of reading in order to get a list of Gryffindor passwords to Sirius. He helped him get into the shack. He protected him when the Golden Trio were ready to go after him. There's a distinct loyalty there and a human understanding of the situations he was in.

He also tried to attack the rat repeatedly as though he knew the rat deserved to be hurt.

It all feels distinctly human. But if Crookshanks was an animagus, he never revealed himself to Sirius. Who do we know who might have been deeply loyal to Sirius but wouldn't be willing to talk to him? Who would know the rat turned on him? Who would go to great lengths to protect him?

I unfollowed the jegulus tag because I can't stand sweet and cutesy jegulus, and what the fandom has done is so not working for me anymore

But I miss angsty icy jegulus with hard edges, I miss the morally grey hard to love regulus who hates himself and everyone else, I miss James who has to fight with himself about the fact that he loves regulus and wishes he didn't, I miss the fire and ice that they can be together

Then he's an original character. You've lost all semblance of Barty Crouch Jr. His entire characterization is sycophantic follower of wizard Hitler. Give your character a new name and an OC tag. You're not talking about Crouch anymore.

It's okay to write original characters. But know that's what you're doing.

I "love the marauders" but I actually vehemently hate canon Remus "Harry abandoner" Lupin, vehemently hate James "incel but it's okay because he's hot" Potter and vehemently hate Peter "at this point what didn't he do" Pettigrew

So what I'm saying is the part of me that loves Sirius Black runs so so so so deep that even despite all of that I love the marauders.
