I love when fiction makes the audience feel guilty about their role as the audience. When something fucked up is treated as a joke but later it's recognised how fucked up it was and the audience feels guilty for finding it funny. When a character breaks the fourth wall to plead for help, and you can't do anything so you just watch. And you know that the characters pain isn't real, but they're begging for help and you're not helping because their suffering is entertainment for you

ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.

I'm tired of reading "if you're asking for new thg books then you're not different of the capitol" NO! Just fucking no!!! Capitol citizens are addicted to the hunger games bc they wanna see district kids killing each other.
Personally, I don't want a new book to read abt the game itself and by what I see, most of the fandom don't wanna read abt the games either. I wanna know abt Johanna's family. How was her life before they killed every one she loved. Idc abt how many did she killed or how it happened. I do care to know abt her (& Finnick, Mags, Wiress and others) as a person/human. That's totally different from the capitol, since they used to dehumanize the tributes.
Also, even tho I love thg and I totally understand that it's a mirror of many things happened in our current society, those books are still FICTION! Those characters don't exist. Hunger games are not real. It's abt time for a lot of you to understand the critics but without forgetting that at the end of the day it's just a fictional book. Not that serious

when the thought of a finnick odair prequal makes me ill but I desperately want people to understand how upsetting this man's life was. I'm sick of people looking at his capitol persona in catching fire and seeing that as the basis of his character. rather than the man who worked tirelessly for the rebellion, who gave his life for the cause, the man who cried constantly for months when his love was taken, who held her hand and never let go when she came back, the man who had multiple suicide references in the books. Finnick Odair lived and died tragically

The differences between Katniss’, Snow’s and Haymitch’s inner monologues:
Katniss: self hating. traumatized. anxious/untrusting
Snow: also traumatized/paranoid. But instead of self hating has a god complex.
Haymitch: your average teenage lover boy

just came to the conclusion that if peeta had been called and haymitch volunteered, him and katniss would have been an absolute MENACE of a duo in that arena. i'd be scared of them. as a career, i would run the other way.

Haymitch, taking a small waiter job to support his family: Coffee or Tea?
Maysilee: Tea, please.
Haymitch, throwing down the rag and sitting: Okay so the oldest Chance kid, Woodbine's brother Torrent?, hooking up with the teacher's daughter, and so when Mrs. Hemmings found out and told her friend, Linda, the librarian, she went to the office and told the principle and now everyone's in a meeting. Mrs. Hemmings is pissed that her daughter's privacy is out in public. But then it gets worse when she of all people finds Torrent in the janitor's room with another girl—
Merrilee: No she meant like the drink.
Maysilee: No I didn't, go on.
