“Back the fuck off.”
Summary: you and Regulus recently broke up over stupid teenage reasons. It was a really bad fight and you two haven't spoken since, though both regret your actions. At a Gryffindor house party, he spots you kissing Mathew smith, the Gryffindor seeker, who Regulus absolutely despises.
Pairing: Regulus Black x Gryffindor!reader
Warnings: swearing, kissing, fighting, a bit of sexual assault.
⬇️unamused⬇️
Regulus stands at the drinks table with Barty as they are being pure Slytherins looking around with judging and cold looks. Neither of them wanted to come to said party, but Evan -who was currently participating in a round of beer pong- insisted they went.
His eyes travel the crowd and he spots them, making him narrow his eyes. He knew she was doing it to spite him, he knew even she hated Smith, but there she was, sticking her tongue down his throat.
"Ohh, she is playing with fire." Barty seemed to start enjoying the party the moment he followed Regulus gaze. "Shut the hell up." Regulus head snapped towards him and then his eyes traveled back to the girl and that stupid idiot she was kissing.
His hands where slowly starting to roam under her clothes and that's when he couldn't take it anymore and pushed himself of the table making his way towards them.
- 15 minutes earlier -
"They are absolute morons." Y/n shook her head as she watched Sirius and James jump of the table they'd just been dancing on. "Tell me about it." Remus rolled his eyes.
She took a sip of her drink as she watched the boys make their way over to them. "Oh, their coming pretend you don't know them." Peter said and they all quickly avoided eye contact with the two boys. "Oh haha, you're so funny." Sirius said sarcastically.
His eyes fell on Y/n and they narrowed. "Boring again, I see." He said as he eyed the glass with clear liquid in her hands. "But thinking about it, I could use some water," he took it out of her hands and a horrified expression formed on her face.
"Sirius no wait-" but she was to late and he took a sip and moments later spit it out, coughing. "Y/n, you absolutely menace to society." He said handing the glass back to her.
"Are you alright, pads?" James asked laughing. "I am, but she isn't, what psychopath just casually sips straight vodka." He grimaces and James' eyebrows race.
"What? It's good, you're all just over dramatic." She said taking another sip, making Peter chuckle a bit, as he himself had made that same mistake before.
They all looked up at the sound of the portrait swinging open and watched an excited Evan and annoyed Barty and Regulus walk into the common room.
Y/n rolled her eyes, and then they landed on someone and a smirk formed onto her face. "Y/n, no." Remus said and she looked at him. "What do you mean no?" She asked.
"Regulus just walked in and your wearing that smirk? Whatever your planning, no." He said and she rolled her eyes and giggled. "It's just a bit of fun." She said, standing up to leave the couch and pushing the glass into Sirius' hands.
"Here, you can have that." She says and he looks at it in disgust. "No thanks." And puts it down.
"Smith, hey." She greats the seeker and he turned to her. "Y/n, looking ravishing as always." He said with a shit eating grin as he looked her up and down and stopped at her chest.
She would slap him in the face if it wasn't for her plan just unfolding:
Make Regulus as jealous as possible.
"I can say the same about you." She said, her words slightly slurring. Smith took a step closer, snaking an arm around her waist. Everyone in Hogwarts who had a brain knew he had liked her since fourth year, which was one of the reasons Regulus despised him, but also the other way around.
Everyone in Hogwarts with a brain also knew Smith was an actual, selfish, prick. He had a reputation of cheating, one girl even claimed he had cornered her once, but no one knew if it was true, as she had a reputation of lying.
"I heard your single now." He grinned as he pulled her closer, his breath smelled like alcohol. "It was such a shame you where with... him." He sounded disgusted at the last words.
She let out a sarcastic laugh, starting to maybe regret her decision a little bit... but only a little.
"Well, that's over now... sooo." She trailed her finger passed his white button up. She looked up at him and he smashed his lips against hers, she pulled him closer, deepening the kiss.
Her eyes fluttered open to look around the room and they landed on Regulus who wasn't looking at her as his eyes traveled around the room, but she could see them slowly make their way over to them and she closed her eyes again as Smith tongue slipped into her mouth.
They broke apart for a moment before they kissed again and slowly his hands started to travel, one slipping into her skirt and the other under her top.
His lips detached from hers and made their way to her neck and then he whispered in her ears. "Seeing such a beautiful girl like you with a Slytherin. Tsk, I'll show you what it's like to be with a real guy." He whispered before going back to kissing her neck and his hand suddenly slipped into her panty's.
She was taken by surprise but before she could do anything about it, someone else did.
Regulus had made his way trough the crowd, pushing people aside and watching as Smith went further into her skirt and kissing her neck, it made his blood boil.
"Back the fuck off." He said and Smith looked up and grinned, taking his hand out of her skirt, and Regulus almost thought she looked relieved.
They made eyes contact and he narrowed his eyes at her. "What do you want." She said, obviously with alcohol in her system. "Indeed, what do you want?" Smith asked as he put and arm around her waste and his finger tips rested under the band of her skirt.
"I want you, to get your filthy hands of her." Regulus said with a threatening tone. "And why would I do that? Such a pretty girl, and she isn't yours anymore? I wouldn't even have cared is she still was, I had plans anyway." He laughed dryly and Y/n looked rather horrified as she questioned if that would have been against her will.
"Leave her alone." Regulus demanded and Smith smirked. "And why would I do that, she seemed to be rather enjoying me."
Suddenly, Y/n started to really regret her decision, and grabbed his wrist to stop him from going any further. "What is it baby, you don't like it?" He asked and she sighed and squeezed her eyes shut.
"Stop, I want you to stop." She told him and he huffed. "You don't tell me when to stop." He said and pulled the hand on his wrist away with his other hand.
She knew she had gotten herself in this situation, it was her own fault, but now she really wanted to get out. Suddenly he let go of her and Y/n hadn't processed the sickening crack.
Regulus had punched him right in the nose and blood was rapidly streaming out. His grey eyes fell on Y/n who stared shocked.
He grabbed her arm and then dragged her out of the common room and eventually stopped in a hallway.
"What is wrong with you?" He asked angrily. "Do you know how much worse that could have been?" He asked, he was furious as he turned his back to her.
"Honestly, Y/n that was such a stupid move! And for what? Making me jealous? Well it worked, happy now?" He turned to her as he yelled, but stopped as he watched her.
Her hands where shaking and tears streamed down her face. His features softened as he walked towards her and took her hands in his, placing a soft kiss on each of them.
"It's alright." He whispered to her and she shook her head. "No, no it's not, I'm so sorry, it was a stupid move. I didn't think it trough." She said as more tears streamed down her face and she sniffed as her nose was now full and starting to run.
He wiped away the tears with his sleeve and kissed her on the forehead. "It's alright, Ma Cherie." He whispered as he hugged her. "Come, you need to get some sleep." He said and then led her over to the Slytherin dorms.
She was sitting on his bed as Regulus took a T-shirt and sweatpants out of his closet. He hands rested on her top and then looked at her. "May I help you here?" He asked and she nodded.
"Use your words, darling." He said softly, he always requested she used words when asking for her permission to do things like this, as he didn't want her to regret later.
"Yes." She croaked out and he slowly lifted it over her head and helped her pull the clean shirt over her head. He did the same with the pants and then tucked her into his bed.
He changed out of his clothes to, and joined her, pulling her into him and kissing her forehead. "I love you, my little dove." He said and she murmured something along the lines of "I love you too." Back before falling asleep.

April 20, 1978
“That’s precisely what I was thinking Moony!”
“Are you sure Padfoot? I got the understanding that it was you and Prongs who shared thoughts.”
“I second that.”
“Honestly I believe if James didn’t have Lily, you blokes would be together.”
“Definitely.”
“Well, Sirius also has y/n as well.”
You felt the boy beside you brush your shoulder with his, and you gave him a smile. “Oh, yes.”
The conversation continued, but you zoned out once again. You played with the vegetables on your plate and tapped your foot. Anxiety was a common thing you felt during meals with your boyfriend and his friend group. They were wonderful, but you always felt they had something secretly against you.
You were a year younger than your boyfriend, you were in Slytherin, you were pureblood, and you were cordial with the other members of your house. You weren’t stupid enough to believe the Marauders didn’t suspect something bad of you, or the Gryffindor girls. Some of them were muggle born and while you didn’t care much for blood purity, you could tell they thought you did.
When you and Sirius had begun dating a few months earlier, you were far from oblivious to the initial disapproval of his friends. You could see the skeptical looks Lily would share with her friends; you could hear the small whispers in classes. It didn’t bother you at first, in fact, you understood their distrust. You thought it would go away with time. But by the end of your second month dating their friend, you realized it was never going to change.
Your relationship with Sirius in short was far from perfect. You liked him, of course, and he liked you. However, it was clear neither of you saw it lasting forever. Deep in the corners of your mind, you’d thought it that before, a life with the infamous Sirius Black. You imagined the two of you would get your own flat after you graduated, you’d be shunned of course by your family, but it wouldn’t matter because you’d have him. Realistically though, you knew that life would never be possible. If he didn’t care enough to tell you why he sneaks off on full moons, if he didn’t care enough to let you in on jokes, if he didn’t care enough to even assure his friends fully that you weren’t like the rest of your house, you’d never have a life with him.
Without thinking about it, your eyes drifted across the great hall to a certain person in your house. He sat straight with a smile on his face as he conversed with his mates. A piece of his hair was in his eye, you watched as he brushed it away. You always wondered why people said he wasn’t as good-looking as his brother. He was just as handsome in your opinion. He was tall, his eyes were starry, and his black curls were never frizzy. His accomplishments spoke for themself. Top of the year, star seeker for Slytherin, prefect, he was the ideal boy. His only flaw in your eyes was his obsession with Voldemort and blood purity. Though your family and his were close in that aspect, you never cared much for the topic. He did though.
Suddenly, his eyes met yours. You watched his smile falter for a few seconds and a different expression formed. You looked away quickly, your cheeks turned pink. That wasn’t the first time you’d been caught staring at Regulus Black during dinner. It was far from it.
~~~
That night you sat alone by the fire in your common room. You’d been invited up to Sirius’s dorm with a promise that the other Marauders wouldn’t be there, but you declined. Sirius was a great shag; it would be impossible for him not to be with how many girls he’d been with. Truthfully, you didn’t like the number of girls that came before you, but you never said anything. You simply weren’t in the mood that night for any more patronizing looks, so you opted to silently work on homework instead.
After some time of working, the door opened. You instinctively looked up and found your pulse quicken as you were met with the beautiful eyes of Regulus Black. He was with his friends, Barty Crouch Jr, and Evan Rosier, but his eyes were on you. You looked down at the sheets of paper in your lap and pretended to not notice the sound of Regulus telling his friends to go up to their dorm without him. When they left though, you were forced to drop the act.
“I thought you’d be up in the Gryffindor tower with all your blood traitor and mudblood friends,” he said after taking a few steps closer to you.
You swallowed and kept your eyes on your paper. “I wasn’t in the mood, and they aren’t really my friends.”
“Really? Y/n you’re shagging my brother I’m not daft.”
He was slowly getting closer; you could see his shoes in your peripheral vision. You subconsciously held your breath. You kept your composure as well as you could.
“Great observation Reg, not as if the whole school knows that. And besides, since when have you cared about that?”
“I always care when someone with blood as pure as yours taints it with someone like my blood traitor brother,” he replied as if it were obvious. “Plus, if you have forgotten I’ve caught you staring at me at least a dozen times within the past month.”
Your cheeks turned bright red. “About that-”
“Look at me.”
His sudden authority made a warm feeling spread in your stomach. Slowly, you lifted your head to look up at him. He was close, barely a foot away. There was an expression on his face you once again couldn’t fully understand. You watched him examine your blushing face in silence.
“Go on then, explain yourself,” he said after a few seconds.
“I didn’t mean to; it was just an... accident,” you mumbled, your eyes moving around the room as you spoke.
Regulus tisked and without warning bent down slightly and gently touched his fingers to your chin. You were speechless. “I prefer to be looked at when spoken to y/n it’s a sign of respect. Can you do that?” You nodded and he moved to his previous position of standing. “Continue.”
“Like I said it was an accident, I sort of space out a lot and I guess my eyes go back to our table,” you continued. You stared in his eyes the entire time as your heart began to beat in your ears.
“I would’ve believed that if it had happened only once or twice, but this has been quite a few times. What is Sirius not fulfilling you enough?”
“No, it’s nothing like that he’s great I just... I dunno. You’re just...” You found it hard to speak with his eyes on you. “I dunno all right? Let’s just forget it’s ever happened yeah?”
It was the truth. You really didn’t know what it was that made you stare at him. It was just something. He fascinated you with his complexity. Sirius was outgoing and popular, but Regulus was closed off and reserved. He’d only had one known girlfriend in Hogwarts, he only talked to his friends, and he was mysterious. He was the opposite of his brother. And you found it perplexing.
“If you say so,” he spoke after a moment. Then he turned and started to walk toward the staircase to the boy's dorm. But before he was too far, he looked back at you with a sliver of a smirk. “You can talk to me though, if you need to. You don’t have to simply stare because my brother is insecure.”
He disappeared up the stairs before you could reply. And you spent the rest of the evening with his words replaying in your head.
~~~
April 22, 1978
You sat at lunch; Sirius’s arm was draped over your shoulders, and he shook as he laughed hysterically at something James said. You tried to put on a fake smile, but you weren’t sure how convincing it was. There was something about the way Sirius held you that made you feel off. You felt almost trapped. You felt as though you were being tested or put on display.
As if it was a sixth sense, your eyes looked at the one table you’d been purposely avoiding. He was already looking at you, it caused your breath to catch in your throat. For a few seconds, the two of you stared at each other, what felt like a mutual feeling of understanding was communicated through your eyes. So, when he nodded to the doorway you understood completely what he wanted. And you agreed.
“I’ve got to run down to my dorm I just remembered I forgot my essay for McGonagal.” You made up an excuse. From across the hall, you noticed Regulus already walking toward the exit. “I should go get it before class.”
Sirius dropped his arm from your shoulders and smiled. “You’re too forgetful y/n/n, but be quick I was hoping to get a quick snog in before that dreadful class.”
“Right, I’ll be as quick as I can,” you said as you stood up. You leaned down and pressed a kiss to his cheek, ignoring the eyes that were on you. “Don’t have too much fun without me.”
“I could never!” He exclaimed as you began to walk away.
Truthfully, you weren’t too sure of where Regulus went. You relied on the gut feeling in your stomach to guide you. With anxiety and anticipation flowing through your body, you made your way down a few halls before you found an abandoned classroom. The door was open a sliver, and somehow you knew it was the one.
He was inside, leaning on one of the desks with his arms crossed over his chest. “Close the door.
You didn’t hesitate to listen to his request. Once it was closed you turned back to face him. “I don’t... I don’t really know what to say.”
“You looked like you needed to escape, you don’t have to talk,” he replied. His face was almost soft. “Am I the only one who knows how you feel?”
“You don’t know how I feel,” you mumbled.
Regulus rolled his eyes. “Just because you haven’t told me doesn’t mean I can’t read your face. It’s almost unbearable how miserable you look while you sit there. Why do you do it?”
You only stared at him, almost starstruck. Has he always been so observant? Or was your pain noticeable? You didn’t know what came over you, but you only acted on it. Before you could stop yourself, you moved across the room until you were barely a foot away from him. Regulus has always been perceived as cold and rude, but in that moment, he looked at you with sincerity no one could deny. Regulus knew you. That was all it took.
Without another thought you grabbed his tie and crashed your lips on his. His lips were soft and warm. Unlike his brothers, Regulus’s lips didn’t feel as though they’d been kissed thousands of times. He felt far less welcoming but nevertheless inviting. But your senses came flooding back fast and you pushed yourself away from him.
You stepped back and covered your burning lips with your hand. “Oh my... I’m- I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have. Fuck I’m terrible.”
“Y/n-”
“No, I can’t do this. I have to go.” You cut him off as you began to move to the door, tears forming in your eyes.
The last thing you heard was Regulus calling your name before you ran down to your dorm.
~~~
April 23, 1978
He was watching you. You could feel his eyes burning into you through every class and meal. Is that how he felt all those times you’d stared at him? It was uncomfortable, to say the least. You tried to pretend he wasn’t, you really did. But it was nearly impossible. You made sure you were accompanied by Sirius or one of your other friends throughout the entire day until you weren’t.
You were just running to the bathroom. You thought it would be quick enough for him to even notice you slipped out of class. It was stupid of you to think that. Just as you were about to enter the girl's bathroom, you felt a hand grab one of your wrists to stop you.
“You can’t avoid this y/n,” he said softly.
You inhaled sharply, refusing to look at him. “Let me go Regulus.”
“I don’t care about what happened and I’m not going to tell on you if that’s what you’re worried about,” he replied quickly.
“Then what do you want? I just- it was a mistake all right?” You felt your heart pounding in your chest. His hand was still on your wrist, your skin practically burned from the contact.
“Look at me.” His voice was hard. You turned slowly to look at him. His expression was soft, he looked almost... worried. “I know we’ve never been that close, but I suppose I’m now involved in your issues. You can talk to me; I want you to talk to me. You can’t keep all of whatever you’re feeling built up inside. It’ll only make you act out impulsively like yesterday.”
You let out a shaky breath. “It was a mistake. It should have never happened I was just... overwhelmed.”
“I know. And I don’t blame you.”
You hated how he said just the right words to make you fold completely.
“They don’t trust me. Even your brother. They seem to think I have some deep plot or that I want to murder the muggle-borns. It’s just... it’s too much Reg. I hate being constantly watched, it’s like they’re waiting for me to make a wrong move that proves their theories.”
“So, why don’t you leave?”
His question caught you off guard. Why didn’t you leave? You hadn’t really thought about it. Sure, you knew that you and Sirius were going to end eventually. But you hadn’t given much thought to how it would occur. Perhaps a mutual agreement? You didn’t know. And you told Regulus exactly that.
“Well, then it’s your fault you feel this way,” he replied.
You scoffed and pulled your wrist from his grip. “Thanks, Reg, you really know how to cheer a girl up.”
“Do you want me to lie and say it’s not your fault? Sorry, I’ll give it another go. It’s not your fault at all y/n, you’re being forced to be around my blood-traitor brother and all his mud-blood friends.” His voice was cold, but for some reason, it didn’t make you feel small. “Was that better?”
“Listen I know I have the choice but it’s just... it’s hard when you care about someone,” you said, ignoring his question.
He sighed and shook his head. “If leaving isn’t what you plan on, then I suppose you’ll have to settle on talking to Sirius about how you feel. I assume you haven’t done that yet?” You shook your head, and he rolled his eyes. “Then talk to him and see if maybe that helps.”
“But what if-”
“If he reacts badly then you break up with him, it’s not that hard to comprehend y/n. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to return to our class, so no one gets any more suspicious.” He cut you off.
You were left outside the girl's bathroom with your mind racing, and your wrist still tingling where Regulus had held it.
~~~
April 25, 1978
It took you over a day to muster up the courage to follow through with Regulus’s suggestion. No wonder you weren’t in Gryffindor. The opportunity for you to speak with Sirius alone came after lunch when the two of you had a free period. As usual, you spent most of the time up in Sirius’s bed. So, as the two of you laid next to each other, spent from another good time, you decided it was a good time to bring up how you felt.
“Sirius,” you spoke softly. Your head was on his chest, your fingers drawing circles on his skin. “Can I talk to you about something?”
“’ Course love, anything,” he replied sweetly.
You inhaled deeply and kept your head down. “We’ve been seeing each other for a decent amount of time now and I’ve enjoyed it very much, but it’s just...” You swallowed. “Your friends... they don’t accept me.”
“How do you mean?”
“Come on, don’t you see how they treat me? They always give me these looks; they whisper about me. I’m sure they’ve all voiced their concern about me to you,” you answered.
“They don’t mean it to make you feel bad, they just you know... Lily is muggle-born, and so is Mary.”
“I’m aware of that. That has nothing to do with me, you should know I don’t care about blood status.”
“Well yes but your house, the people you are friends with, they care. You can’t blame my friends for being weary.”
You sat up and looked at Sirius, suddenly full of anger. “I am not like the other people in my house, and it’s hypocritical for them to judge me based on that. Have I ever proven myself to be anything like the other Slytherins?”
“No, but-”
“But nothing Sirius. I’m not like them, and it hurts that you don’t even bother to make your friends believe that.” You cut him off. You got off his bed and began to gather your clothes. “It’s clear I’m not welcome here.”
“Y/n-”
You began to button your shirt. “No Sirius it’s fine, I understand. I thought you Gryffindors were supposed to be welcoming, I suppose that assumption was wrong too.”
Just as you were about to bend down to retrieve your tie, you felt Sirius’s warm hands on your hips. Instinctively, you turned to look at him. He stared up at you with a frown on his face. You hated how perfect he still looked with such a sour expression.
“You’re right, I should advocate for you more. I’ll do that from now on. You are nothing like the other Slytherins, you’re perfect y/n. I’m sorry for not catching on to this sooner.” His words were sincere, you could tell. It made your anger subside.
“Thank you,” you said, a small smile on your lips.
“Now, can you get back into bed for a little longer?” He asked.
You nodded with a chuckle and slid back beneath the sheets. Though you felt relieved and happy at the outcome of your conversation, you couldn’t help but think about what Regulus’s reaction to the news would be.
For some reason, you knew he wouldn’t be pleased.
~~~
April 26, 1978
His eyes searched your face; you tried your hardest to keep your expression neutral. The two of you were up in the astronomy tower, the glow of the moon and stars your only source of light. You didn’t know why you felt almost ashamed telling him about the conversation you had with Sirius. Something deep within you knew the outcome wasn’t what the younger Black brother wanted.
“I’m a bit confused,” he said after a moment of silence.
“What about?”
“If the conversation truly went as you say it did, why aren’t you happy?”
“What do you mean? I am happy. I think I even saw a bit of improvement today,” you answered honestly.
Regulus only shrugged and turned to look off the balcony. “Could’ve fooled me.”
“I really am happy Reg this is what I wanted. Now they won’t be so judgmental and perhaps I’ll start to finally feel welcomed,” you replied.
You stared at him for a minute. The soft glow of the moonlight illuminated his features in a way you’d never seen before. He was handsome. With his sharp jawline, his dark curly hair, and his prominent cheekbones how could he not be handsome?
Eventually, he turned his eyes back to you, and for a split second, your breath caught in your throat. There was something intense in his light eyes that you couldn’t decode. It made heat rush straight to your face.
“All right, if that’s what you want,” he said. “See you around.”
With that, he left. And you almost followed him, almost.
~~~
April 27, 1978
Something was wrong with you. Very wrong.
You couldn’t stop thinking about the one boy in Hogwarts you really shouldn’t have been thinking about. It was wrong, especially in the way you were thinking about him. You tried to distract yourself in every way you could. With your friends, with Sirius, with schoolwork. But nothing worked.
Perhaps it was the intense dream you’d had the previous night that kept your mind wandering. After all, who could simply brush off an intense sexual dream about their boyfriend's brother? It made you blush and feel ashamed each time it crossed your mind throughout the day. And when you saw Regulus around the school, you almost fell apart.
It was as though a switch had been flipped inside you. Gone were the innocent friendly thoughts you had about the younger Black brother. They were replaced by awfully inappropriate ones.
But you were determined to make them vanish. Because to act on such thoughts would be terrible.
Right?
~~~
April 28, 1978
Avoiding Regulus was hard given he was in almost all your classes, and he shared the same common room as you. But you tried your hardest. You spent the day clung to Sirius as much as you could, despite the fact you were upset with him. Being around him meant being away from his brother. That was the important thing.
Things between you and Sirius’s friends had not changed much. You wondered if he had even said anything to them. If he did, it didn’t seem like it. It hurt you, but it didn’t occupy your thoughts as much as it previously had.
Actually, it made you realize something you were too afraid to admit.
Regulus seemed to care more about your feelings than your boyfriend.
That thought scared you. And it only made your improper thoughts about him grow.
~~~
April 29, 1978
You sat up in the Astronomy tower with your legs dangling off the balcony, a bottle of firewhiskey beside you. For the first time in months, you couldn’t deal with your thoughts without a substance. Luckily your boyfriend had a stash of alcohol and was able to spare you a small bottle. So, you took it with a big thank you and practically ran up to the tower. You needed to clear your head. You needed to escape.
There was a slight breeze, it made you clutch your robe tighter around your body. The alcohol helped too. You took another swig, a sigh escaping your lips at the feeling. You liked the way it made your chest warm, and how it made the thoughts of Regulus fade.
Suddenly, you heard footsteps. You gathered the bottle into your robe but remained seated. Whoever it was, they’d catch you anyway. There weren’t many hiding spaces in the tower. So, you prepared for an angry Filch to scold you.
“I figured you’d be up here, your roommates said they hadn’t seen you, neither did my brother.” The gentle voice of the boy you were trying to avoid spoke.
You whipped your head around fast, your mouth hung open slightly. He was only a few feet away from you, and still getting closer. “You talked to him about me?”
“Told him we have a project together and he still wasn’t very welcoming. I see why you feel out of place now,” he answered as he lowered himself to sit beside you. “Care to share any of that with me?”
“Since when do you drink Mr. Prefect?” You questioned skeptically.
He shrugged. “I’ve indulged before, is that surprising? I am almost of age you know.”
“You just don’t seem like the type that’s all,” you replied honestly. You removed the bottle from under your robe and handed it to him. “I’m a bit ahead of you though.”
Regulus didn’t reply. Instead, he popped the cap off the bottle and took a few swigs. You watched carefully, unable to hide your smile when his face scrunched up from the bitterness. Even then, he was still beautiful.
“Wine is much better than this,” he said after a minute as he handed the bottle back to you.
You nodded. “Taste wise, yes, but this gets you drunk much faster.”
“Is that what you want? To get drunk?”
You nodded again and took a swig from the bottle. He had a point, firewhiskey tasted awful. But you needed it, especially since Regulus had caught you alone and even more because he looked far too good in the moonlight.
“I thought things were going to get better with my brother,” he spoke.
“I thought so too but it seems he isn’t good at keeping his word,” you replied with a frown.
Regulus chuckled and took the bottle again. “Well look at him, he’s a filthy blood traitor, what do you see in him?”
“He’s kind, outgoing, very fun to party with, and of course one of the most handsome boys in the school,” you answered. You couldn’t help but smile when Regulus rolled his eyes. “None of that matters though. We’ll be splitting up soon.”
“Yeah?”
The hope in his voice was undeniable. It made your heart rate quicken.
“Yeah. He’ll be leaving school soon and we never really planned to last this long anyway so it only makes sense that we’ll be splitting.”
As he handed you the bottle back, your fingers brushed. You held in your breath, your mouth suddenly felt dry, and a tingle began in the small place where his skin met yours. Your eyes met again and from the way his starry eyes suddenly appeared darker you knew he felt what you did.
You should’ve looked away. You knew you should’ve. You’d like to blame the alcohol for the way you felt, but Regulus Black had proven himself to be more magnetic than any boy you’d ever met so there was no use excusing it. So, despite the fact it was wrong, you didn’t move when he started to lean closer.
“I’m glad to hear that,” he said, his voice quieter than before.
“I’m sure you are,” you replied. He was close, his lips only inches away from yours.
“Why’s that?” He asked.
His eyes were so beautiful, you could barely focus on the words that came out of his mouth. “Because you...”
Your eyes fluttered shut and you felt his soft lips brush against yours. He was so gentle; you could barely even feel him. And after only a few seconds he pulled back. Your eyes remained closed.
“Because I’m...?”
“Reg, don’t make me ask you.”
“Oh, but I want to hear it so bad.”
“Just shut up and kiss me already.”
He didn’t hesitate to fulfill your request and soon enough he was kissing you with an intensity you weren’t sure you ever felt before. One of his hands fell to your waist, his fingers quickly untucking your shirt from your skirt. You let your fingers run through his curls as you’d imagined doing so many times over the previous days.
When he pushed you back and urged you to lie down, you did it. When he pushed your knees apart and slid between your legs you didn’t protest. It was terrible, you were cheating on your boyfriend with his little brother. But at that moment no thoughts could even register in your head. All you could think about was how good Regulus’s body felt against yours and how good he was at kissing.
Perhaps things moved faster than they should’ve. Perhaps they should’ve never moved in that direction to begin with. Either way, within only a few minutes both of your robes were discarded and one of Regulus’s hands was between your thighs. His lips remained on yours as he toyed with you, his soft kiss engulfed each of your moans. You traced your fingertips up and down his back, your hand under his shirt. He was soft but rough, he was perfect.
“I want you,” he suddenly whispered against your lips.
Your eyes opened, he pulled back a bit, and your eyes met his. He didn’t stop his fingers; you could barely think of what to say. “I want you too Reg.”
“Right now?” He asked.
“Right now,” you assured him breathlessly.
You watched him fumble with his belt for a few seconds before he distracted you with another kiss. He was intoxicating, to say the least. Every one of your senses was flooded with Regulus Black. The scent of his cologne, the feeling of his hands under your skirt, the taste of the firewhiskey he’d previously drank, the sound of his shallow breath, the brief glimpses you stole of his pretty face, it was almost too much for you to handle.
Once his belt was finally undone you felt him shift and you knew what was to come. You didn’t think of stopping him for a second. Instead, you threaded your fingers back in his black curls and held him tighter. He pushed your panties to the side and without warning began to slowly push his cock inside you.
You bit down on his lip, your back arched off the floor, and your thighs squeezed around him. He didn’t stutter with his movements and began to thrust in and out at a pace that made your head spin and your insides warm.
After a few minutes, he began to trail his mouth down your neck, the sensation making it impossible for you to stay quiet. You gripped one of his biceps with your hand and your eyes squeezed shut as he fucked you. He was careful despite the heat of the moment, however. You were silently grateful. No marks would be left on your skin.
“Reg,” you moaned. “Fuck Reg.”
He staggered for a moment. “Are you okay?” The vibration of his voice on your skin made you almost moan again.
“Yes, yes. Please don’t stop,” you whimpered.
It would be impossible for you to know exactly how long it went on. But by the time it was over, you felt no effects from the alcohol you’d drank before. You came hard, arguably harder than you’d ever come in your life. Regulus did something to you that you couldn’t understand. So, when he asked if it was ok for him to finish inside you said yes.
The two of you laid next to each other in the aftermath, a few inches between your bodies. Sweat covered the inside of your shirt, and another substance leaked between your thighs. You only stared at the ceiling and the stars above as you steadied your breathing.
“I won’t tell,” Regulus said after some time.
“Thank you,” you replied quietly. You were still in a daze; your mind couldn’t process what had just occurred. You sat up, your back was already starting to ache. “I should go.”
From the corner of your eye, you saw Regulus sit up too. “Yeah, you should.”
You slid your robe over your arms and straightened out your tie and shirt. Before you stood, you made sure to grab the bottle of firewhiskey and conceal it under your clothes. You looked down at Regulus briefly, he was already looking at you. It made your face heat up.
You gave him a weak smile. “I’ll um... I’ll see you tomorrow then. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
You escaped before anything else could be said and raced down to your dorm.
The whole night you tossed and turned in bed, your head full of thoughts that would not let you sleep. You cheated on Sirius. With his brother. It was almost unimaginable. You’d never thought of cheating before, it never crossed your mind. But there you were a cheater.
You just hoped Sirius wouldn’t ask where you were on April 29th.
Because he really wouldn’t want to know.

Prompt: Persist | Pairing: Jegulus (@into-the-jeggyverse) | Word Count: 1008
“What do you want now, Potter? I’m trying to practice.” Regulus snarled once his broom came to a halt in front of the Gryffindor stands. James Potter stood there, leaning against the barrier, his hazel eyes focused on Regulus. Despite being hidden behind a pair of circular glasses, Regulus could make out the mischievous glint in them. Slytherin Quidditch practice had ended almost thirty minutes ago, but Regulus noticed the Gryffindor team’s captain watching them—him—for the last hour.
“Don’t let me stop you, Reggie. I’m enjoying the view.” A bright smile formed on James lips with every word that he spoke. Regulus swallowed and glanced away. James Potter’s smiles were bloody dangerous because they always left Regulus feeling weird. He didn’t even correct him for the ungodly nickname.
“The team is gone, I’m sure you’ve memorized our plays. You were here last practice too.” Slowly, he lifted his head and allowed his eyes to fall back onto James. His grip tightened on the golden snitch that was captured in his fist. “I’d like to finish out my practice in peace.”
“You noticed me?” The Gryffindor’s hand went into his dark hair, causing it to become messier as he pushed his dark locks from his forehead, ruffling his hair. Eventually his hand found the back of his neck. Regulus noticed this was one of James habits. “You didn’t tell Vanity.”
“Whether you have insights to our plays or not, Gryffindor isn’t going to beat us. You’ve lost the last two matches against us. Your Seeker is shit, I commend taking a chance on a third year but surely there were better options?” Before Regulus could go on to critic the Gryffindor team further, James breathed out a laugh. Regulus heart skipped a beat.
“I don’t care about your plays. I’m not watching your team, I’m watching you.” And another beat.
Despite the current state of his heart, Regulus rolled his eyes. “You watch me all the time. At meals, in the corridor, in the library, during our rounds.” Which Regulus suspected James had paired them together on purpose. “You even walked in on me in the prefects’ bathroom.” A memory that still made Regulus blush.
A look of offense formed on James’ face. “I told you that was an accident!”
“Uh huh.” Regulus waved him off. “What are you and my brother up to, Potter? Why must you persist in asking me out every chance you get when I’m not interested? Is this a kink of yours?”
“Padfoot has nothing to do with this. I keep asking you out because I fancy you, and you haven’t accepted my offer for a date yet.” And maybe he did like the chase—Regulus didn’t have to know that part. James was confident the younger would accept his offer for a date sooner or later. In his mind he and Regulus would be great together, he described it once to Remus that they were like yin and yang. It just made sense. Plus, for Regulus to notice James looking at him all those times, he had to be staring back. That meant something.
Regulus wasn’t quite sure he believed Potter. He never showed interest in him before the end of Regulus fifth year, and even then it was James observing him before waving when he noticed Regulus looking back at him. Surely Sirius put him up to this; a new Marauders prank. There was no way someone as bright, fit, popular, so loved and bloody perfect as James Potter would ask out Regulus Black. They were too opposite. It would never work. The only things they had in common were Quidditch, and the fact that Sirius was their brother. Although, Sirius didn’t like Regulus much these days so maybe he would scratch the last one out. Regulus had spent a lot of sleepless nights overthinking this.
“I’m serious about this, Regulus. I want at least one chance, just one date to prove to you that we could work. You might even learn to fancy me!” There was some form of hope in James eyes, he leaned in on the railing. “One date, and if you’re not into it by the end I’ll leave you alone.”
The Slytherin didn’t need time to think before he was declining James’ offer once again. “I don’t want to go out with you, Potter.”
“Regulus—please.” He almost sounded desperate, and Regulus felt himself start to fold just a little bit. He blamed the weakened state of his heart along with James Potter’s stupid smile and messy hair. “Hogsmeade is this weekend. We would have so much fun! Butterbeers, Zonko’s, Scrivenshaft got in new quills, you told Rosier you needed a new set.”
Regulus was just about to open his mouth and make a comment about how James had no right to listen in to his private conversations, when James’ eyes sparkled with mischief and his face broke out into a brightest grin. “How about this. I’ll play you for it.”
“Excuse me?”
James motioned to the golden snitch that was still nestled in Regulus’ closed fist. “First one to catch the snitch wins. If I win you go on a date with me and if you win I’ll never ask you out again.”
It was the sixth year’s turn to let out a laugh. Regulus was the best seeker currently on a Hogwarts team, and James only played seeker once in his Hogwarts career, two years ago when the Gryffindor seeker had gotten ill and he had to fill in. James caught the snitch, and it was a bit impressive, but that game was against Ravenclaw and their team wasn’t up to par that year. There was no way James would be able to catch the snitch before him. Accepting this offer was an easy out. “You got a deal, Potter.” Before Regulus could finish his sentence, James was already summoning his broom.
(And if Regulus decided last minute to let James catch the snitch and win, that is nobody’s business but his own.)

Family // Poly!Marauders x Fem!Reader
Summary: Sirius Black, the usually happy prankster within Hogwarts, had a special skill for hiding his emotions. Until one day, he's forced to face the realities of the troubles with his family.
Requested by: @bullets-from-another-dimension Thank you so much for the request and for showing me that Sirius needs a little more love! I hope you like this fic, and thanks for your support with the poly!marauders ♥
Tags: 18+ readers only, smut, angst (lots!), fluff (also lots!), emotional hurt, discussion of Sirius' abusive family, disowned, crying, hugs/kissing, polyamory relationship, nipple play, body worship, making out, oral sex (m receiving), happy ending
A/N: This is just a little PSA that I'll be going through my other Poly!Marauders fics sometime soon to change some bits to make sure that each of the boys is getting enough love! It won't be anything major for the overall story, just spreading the love equally as it appears Sirius may have been skipped a few times (and I don't want that!), so check for an 'edited' note on the story. Thank you for pointing this out to me!

The last 24 hours had been an emotional rollercoaster, with both positives and negatives coming to light. It had started with the ultimate showdown game of Quidditch between Slytherin and Gryffindor; with both Sirius and James on the team. You and Remus had been nervous wrecks just for the game, let alone all the tension drowning within the two enemy houses. This escalated outside of the pitch, with wands having to remain in hands between lessons to prepare for sabotage attacks from either team.
It was endlessly tiring the days leading up to the events, and it was some kind of a miracle to be standing in the Gryffindors' stands without a single injury. Now, however, you and Remus had to live through the fear of watching your boyfriends fly around with their roles as Seeker and Beater.
You were sure you’d accidentally bitten your nail down to the cuticle by the end of the match, and your throat felt as if you’d swallowed sandpaper with how sore it was with the screaming and shouting you’d been doing in support. There was instant relief as James finally caught the snitch, and everyone cheered.
“Do you think he’ll be ok?” you shout up to Remus, who, with his height difference, could see over the crowd to where the commotion was occurring on the pitch. As James had dived for the snitch, so had the Slytherin’s seeker, who just happened to be Sirius’ brother, Regulus. However, in mid-dive, Regulus accidentally knocked into one of the goalposts, hitting his head and falling from his broom. Thankfully to the Slytherins, Sirius had been close by and caught his falling brother from gaining any further injuries.
Remus was nodding to your question, “Yes, he’s walking away, well - he’s pushing Sirius away, so I’m sure he’s just fine”, he explained, watching Regulus shove Sirius, so the man stumbled away. A pang of guilt settled heavily in your stomach at the thought of the brothers arguing. You knew that the relationship between Sirius and his brother was non-existent these days, and it only made you feel more awful for your boyfriend, understanding how difficult it must have been to lose his family in the way he has.
You couldn’t ponder on these thoughts as the entirety of Gryffindor and the vast majority of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff began celebrating the win. This included Sirius, who scooped you into an exaggerated hug, spun you high into the air, and carefully placed your feet back onto the floor.
“Was your brother alright?” You shout to Sirius over the noisy crowd forming around the winning team. For a split second, you witness sadness filling his grey eyes before he snaps out of it and a beaming smile replacing the momentary lapse in his emotions.
“Oh, he’s fine; I’m sure a quick knock to the head will bring some sense to him. Anyway, come on, let’s all go back to the common room; I have a special surprise for everyone”. Sirius was great at many things, and covering his emotions was one of them. Any attempts to open up about the situation regarding his family would change the subject within the blink of an eye. You respected that he didn’t want to talk about any of his family members, but you still kept a close eye on him, making sure that he didn’t pent up his emotions until he was at breaking point, which you feared would occur one day as there was only so much one person could go through.
The interaction with Regulus seemed to have been forgotten in the madness of celebrating, which ran into the early morning hours in the Gryffindor common room. It would have continued later, but Professor McGonagall arrived in her dressing gown and demanded everyone go to bed. Sirius needed the most help to bed, having drunk the ‘surprise’ fire whiskey he regretted deeply in the morning.
“I’m never drinking again. Who’s idea was it anyway to bring Firewhiskey?!” came the deep groan of the man lying face first beside you, his face thoroughly buried into the pillow. Your temples were pounding slightly; you’d felt worse hangovers, but it was still uncomfortable as you rolled over towards Sirius.
Your arm wrapped over his naked back, face pressed over his shoulder blade as you could feel the toned muscles adjusting to your presence as you melted into his warmth. “It was your idea. I’m never falling for your charms ever again, Sirius”, you mumbled against his skin, reminiscing on his sweet talking skills from last night that convinced you to have a drinking competition with him.
This pulled him out of the half-unconscious state as his mop of hair turned in your direction. The movement caused you to roll off him and witness the beautiful sight of his morning glow; even in his hangover, he was handsome with one eye squished closed as the room was too bright.
Sirius turned his body entirely towards you, huffing as he moved, and you refrained from trying to reach out and control the usually silky locks of hair that were now all knotted and tangled on the top of his head. “Oh yeah? I’m pretty sure my charms made you cum three times before the fire whiskey joined the party,” he commented confidently and admired the warmth that filled your face. You attempted to hide your smile at the memories but were soon fully scream-laughing as Sirius tried to break your facade by tickling your sides.
Pushing him away, you turned and nuzzled into the naked chest of James, who remained asleep even through your loud laughter, but his arms still wrapped around your shoulders protectively. Besides James, you could see Remus was awake, sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. “Remusssss, Sirius is being mean to me”, you drawl childishly.
The man sighed, dropping his hands to give you and Sirius a pointed look, “Please, children, it’s too early, and my head is too painful for you to make this much noise”.
Sirius smirked as he spooned in close behind you, wrapping his arm around you and James as everyone tried to have a few more moments of beautiful sleep before breakfast, and class pulled the four of you from the safety of the bed.
The food helped to settle the hangovers that the majority of Gryffindor seemed to be nursing this morning, much to the displeasure of McGonagall, who was glaring at her house from the Professor’s table. Sitting beside James, you leaned across him for another slice of toast as Sirius sat opposite you with Remus next to him.
As everyone started to be rejuvenated with energy from the breakfast, the owls began to swoop in and deliver the mail for the day. An emerald-coloured envelope landed on Sirius's lap, which caught the attention of you and the fellow Marauders. You already had your suspicions about who the letter was from. Sirius mostly confirmed it, as he had hardly read the letter before shoving it into his bag and brushing off any attempts at discussing who it was from.
“It’s nothing, just some spam letter. So, who do we have first today? Is it transfiguration? I can’t imagine that will be fun with how angry McGonagall looks right now.” Sirius changed the subject, but it didn’t convince any of you as you eyed him sadly. He didn’t wait for a response as he stood, gripping his bag so tight that his knuckles turned white. “Come on, otherwise we’ll be late”.
You knew something was off just by the quipped tone of his voice, and the humour and light that always seemed to dance in his eyes had been significantly dimmed. Even as James tried to humour him with his usual party tricks and jokes, it only earned him a half-assed chuckle from Sirius. Remus even attempted to pull him aside before entering the classroom to see if he needed a moment alone to talk, but Sirius just distracted him with a quick kiss and said he was fine.
You were quick to sit next to Sirius near the back of the classroom, smiling brightly with the hopes that he would return it, but it seemed he was lost in his thoughts as he idly arranged his parchment paper and quills. Thankfully, as the class began, his hand rested on your thigh so you could link both fingers together, lifting it and kissing the back of his hand.
As McGonagall began to teach the class, you leaned closer to Sirius, savouring the warmth that radiated off him and smelling the citrusy scent from his aftershave. “Is everyone ok, Sirius?” Your voice was barely audible so as not to disrupt the class, but you knew he heard as his posture stiffened, and he nodded his head, fake smiling for a second before returning his attention to the teacher. “I know there’s something wrong. Talking might help; I mean - I want to help-”
“Excuse me at the back. Is there something more important than my lesson?” McGonagall demanded with a passive-aggressive raised eyebrow as all other eyes turned to look at you and Sirius.
As your mouth opened to take the blame, your boyfriend beat you to it, “Sorry, Professor. That was my fault I was distracting her”.
“You’re already on thin ice after last night's antics, Mr Black. See me after class to arrange a detention”.
Your mouth drops open to retort to her and tell him it wasn’t Sirius, but the hand holding yours squeezes, stopping you from saying anything. As McGonagall turns back to write on the chalkboard, you lean close to harshly whisper, “You didn’t have to do that, Sirius! That should have been my detention!”
“It’s only one detention, I don’t care”, he shrugs nonchalantly, releasing your hand to begin writing his notes. You frown so deeply that a line forms between your eyebrows as you glance towards Remus and James, who have similar expressions of worry, especially as Sirius hasn’t even attempted to have any sort of friendly banter with McGonagall like he usually did.
At lunch, Sirius had somehow managed to slip away from the group, and your head seemed to be fixated towards the entrance to the Great Hall, neck straining to see over the other students as you waited for him to walk in.
“I mean, it’s not just me, right? There’s definitely something wrong with him”, you say before nervously nibbling on your lower lip.
Remus’ hand cups your shoulder, gripping gently as he agrees, “It’s not just you. I tried to talk to him before the lesson, but he just pushed me away. He just wants to be by himself; I’m sure he’ll be just fine”.
You nod to yourself but don’t believe his words. Yes, Sirius was strong and had been putting on a strong appearance for years, but he never pushed himself away from the three of you. It was like an invisible angel on your shoulder, trying to nudge you towards him, knowing something wasn’t right.
“Have either of you got the Marauder's map?” you ask Remus and James, who then check their pockets and school bags but cannot find the map.
“Sorry, Love, he’s probably got it with him”, James reports, appearing as deflated as you felt.
Standing from the table, the anxious causing your stomach to clench with unease and unable to eat, you inform the two of them, “I’ll be back later; I just need to make sure he’s ok and safe”.
Remus and James nod in understanding and watch you go. As you stand in the entrance to the Great Hall, you’re unsure where to start and what's worse is that he could be in his Padfoot form, which means he’d be able to hear you coming and run away. There were the grounds to search, Hogsmeade, the entirety of the enormous castle; there were plenty of places for him to be.
Taking a deep breath to steady your nerves, you decided to search the dormitory first, hoping the map had been left in a draw up there.
Opening the door to the dormitory room that you shared with your boyfriends, you were welcomed to the sight of Sirius, lying face first on the shared bed, his head turned away from the doors but from the noticeable sniffling noises and his shoulders shaking, you knew he was crying. Your heart felt like someone had reached inside your chest and squeezed as the sight rocked you. Silently as you could, you slipped your shoes off and placed your school bag onto the floor.
You knew he was aware someone else was in the room as his cries softened, and he subtly tried to wipe his face into the pillow. As you began to crawl onto the bed, you could see he was spooning the pillow you usually used to sleep on, clutching it desperately close to his chest. You had to remember to breathe through your nose, remain strong, and not descend into your emotions.
Kneeling next to him, your hand gently met the centre of his back, rubbing slow, comforting circles into his white shirt, hoping the action would comfort him. “Sirius, what’s wrong?”
“What? Nothing's wrong” he tried to brush it off, but you could hear the thickness of his voice as he tried to hide his face further in the pillow beneath his head.
“Is it about the letter from earlier? Who sent it to you?” Even though you knew he didn’t really want to talk about it, you knew he’d also built a wall around his emotions and wanted him to feel like he was in a safe enough space to talk, like the many times he’d done the same for you. Reaching over with your other hand, you ran your fingers through the long strands of dark hair, brushing them out of his face that was still turned away from you. “Talk to me, my love, please. I want to help you”.
Reluctantly, Sirius turned over and began to pull you down to lie in the centre of the bed. You did so and spread your arms wide as he moved to lie on your chest, the top of his head resting beneath your chin as you hugged him closely.
“No one important sent me the letter, it’s fine. I just want to cuddle”, he admits with a sigh, relaxing into the hold, the pillow he’d been spooning now forgotten about as he had the real thing instead, finding comfort instantly. In this position, you could hold him close and do the same actions as before, stroking gently up and down his back whilst also playing with his hair.
You want to tell him that you knew who the letter was from, but he seemed content with being held instead for a couple of minutes until you felt dampness seeping across the column of your neck and down your chest as his shoulders began to shake once more.
“Sirius-?”
“It was from my parents. The letter, I mean. Fuck! I don’t know, it's so stupid.” he sits up abruptly, aggressively wiping away the leaked tears he’d been desperately trying to stop.
Sitting beside him, you rubbed his shoulders while trying to calm him down from his overwhelming emotions. “It’s not stupid, my love.” As you talk, you grip his twists to pull them away so he can look into your face and hopefully see the love there. “Your parents, they’re awful people, Sirius, and anyway, you’re perfectly within your right to show emotions every once in a while; I just need you to know that I’m here for you, we’re all here for you, no matter how you are feeling. It’ll be ok”.
Even though it was comforting for him to hear the words, it still seemed to break something within him. Like a crack had formed in the dam as he relented with his cries, openly sobbing into his hands. Whilst trying to swallow the lump that had developed in your throat, you pulled him close, kissing every part of him that you could reach whilst wiping away the cascading tears.
“You don’t have to tell me what was said in the letter, but I just need you to know that they’re not your real family; you know we’re all your family”. Sirius pulls back from the hug, and your bottom lip trembles at seeing how heartbroken he looks. The area around his eyes is swollen and red to match the shade at the tip of his nose as wetness covers the length of his cheeks.
His mouth opens to say something, but he’s interrupted by the door opening and James and Remus stepping into the bedroom. The two men pause, not expecting to find either you or Sirius here, but as they see the sadness and pain on Sirius’s face, they immediately drop their school bags.
“You missed it”, Sirius chuckled, trying to hide his upset behind humour, “She called me an emotional prick, and the waterworks started”. James and Remus gave him sad smiles, but neither fell for the attempt to change the subject as both sat either side of him on the bed. Remus reached for him first, stroking his scarred fingers through the strands of dark hair that had fallen over Sirius’ face, but only so he could kiss the area beneath. Sirius closed his eyes at the touch and leaned into it, releasing a deep sigh through his open mouth.
James grabbed each of his hands, lifting them to his lips to kiss the palms lovingly and rest them on either side of his cheeks, nuzzling into his hands. “Whatever is going on, you know we’re always here for you, Sirius”, James mutters against the palms on his face.
Sirius sighs even heavier as if trying to will the anxiety away through the breaths. “It’s my parents. I mean, should I even call them parents when they’ve already disowned me? But they’ve just sent me more threats today after what happened with Regulus yesterday. They say things like I should have let him win and wish that I had been hurt.”
He takes a moment to compose himself as you grab one of his hands from James, needing to link your fingers together and squeeze to know that it is a safe place for him to continue and talk. Sirius looked into his lap as he spoke, “They’ve burnt my face off the Black family tree. Not that I care; I expected it, but it just all feels so real now, you know? I feel like I shouldn’t even be using the surname Black with how much they detest me. I also kind of expected Regulus to have my back a little bit, but he’s young; I can’t expect that from him, especially as I know what my parents are like, but he doesn’t even say hi to me in the corridors anymore. I don’t know. I guess I’m just a little all over the place, and with the positivity yesterday, just to have my family metaphorically kick me to the curb again, I should have expected the joy wouldn’t last long”.
Sirius sounded empty and emotionless as he expressed how he was genuinely feeling, struggling to come to terms with the repercussions of the events that occurred with his family that continue to affect him.
“Fuck them”, James says with all the venom and confidence that he could muster. Sirius grunts half-heartedly at the declaration, not seemingly convinced, so James turns his face towards him so that he is looking into the stormy hazel eyes. “I’m being serious, fuck them. You’ve been my family for years now; you know my parents consider you their son as much as I am. Nothing has changed. You live with me and my parents because that is your home. Wherever any of us go is your home because we love you. We wouldn’t make you feel half as rotten as those scumbags, do you understand?”
Sirius nods, swallowing thickly, causing his Adam’s apple to bob. Before he can respond, Remus once again holds onto his face, turning him in the other direction to look at the calmest Marauder. “Sirius, next time you receive a letter from them, don’t open it. They are cruel humans who have no love for anyone but themselves and the prejudices that they live by. You had so much joy and love in your heart; don’t let them destroy you and ruin everything you cherish. And that is exactly what James has said. You’re our family. We’re each other's family. You’re ours, just like you’re mine. Get it?”
Sirius’ eyes have dried as he looks up at Remus, and briefly, a genuine smile welcomes across his face as he leans in to kiss him deeply but then pulls back.
Squeezing his hand, you draw his attention towards you. “You deserve the surname Black more than anyone because it’s what makes you, you—breaking the stereotypes of those evil people and making it mean something that doesn't symbolise hatred. However, if you want to have another surname, you can! Sirius, you’re your own person, and your surname doesn’t define you. You could even make up a whole new name! Maybe you could have one of our surnames”, Sirius laughs at the possibility of a name change. “I love you so much. Your family's opinions of you aren’t how anyone else in the castle sees you. You’re perfect the way you are, Mr Black”.
You couldn’t wait any more time to kiss him, needing to feel his lips against yours and reassure him further with these intimate touches. Thankfully, to your pounding heart, he smiles into the kiss.
“Maybe we could put all of our surnames together”, he jokes as you move to kiss each of his cheeks.
“If that’s what you want, I’d do it”, you reassure him with a kiss on his temple.
“Almost sounds like a proposal”, he casually mentions, causing your heartbeat to increase rapidly. Sirius smirks at your face but reassures, “Maybe we’ll sort out surnames once we’ve finished our exams”. You press your lips against his once more for reassurance until he looks between the three of you. “Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do if it weren’t for you three. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed before coming to Hogwarts, let alone feel love like this”.
Remus could see the tears pooling along Sirius’ lashline, so he gently cupped the side of his head, wiping away any that fell. “No more tears for them”. The gap between their lips was closed as Remus kissed him passionately, holding the back of his head carefully as they breathed each other in.
Sirius’ head dips slightly, but only to whisper against the man’s lips, “Can you make me forget? Please?”
“I’ll do whatever you want me to do, Sirius”. Remus kisses him again but with more urgency, pushing his body back until Sirius is lying in the centre of the bed with the taller Marauder hovering above him. Their mouths moved together as one, tongues twirling together, heads tilting one way and then the other.
As Remus distracts and devours him with his mouth, Sirius’ hands move around the back of his head, holding him close, which gives James the freedom to move his hands to Sirius’ shirt. With a simple flick of his fingers, James could undo the buttons down the centre of his chest, releasing the toned chest and abdomen of the man whose legs you were sitting between.
You watched with the sadness seeping away and becoming replaced with arousal as James leaned over and licked the nipples of the man who moaned into Remus’ mouth. James was calculated with his movements, making sure to leave teasing licks and bites over the areas that Sirius was most sensitive whilst then worshipping the perked nipples on his chest, his hands caressing the areas where fine dark hair was beginning to grow back from being previous shaved, mainly the snail trail leading beneath his trousers.
Smiling whilst watching them all move together, you were gifted the view of watching the tightness forming in his trousers as his cock grew hard and thick. Without any rush and admiring the desperate moans coming from the man on his back, you began to stroke up his thighs, over his crotch and pausing over his zipper.
Undoing it slowly, you waited to see if Sirius was even aware of what you were doing as he was so distracted with James and Remus. However, with the sudden lift of his hips to help you pull the material down his hips, you knew he was very much aware of your intentions.
Freeing his cock from the restraint of his trousers and boxers, you watched as Sirius lowered his hips back onto the bed, and his member now throbbed on his abdomen, thick and hard. A pearly drip of precum had already formed at the tip, and you were quick to hold the base, lifting the cock until your lips were wrapped around him.
Your movements continue to be gentle and soft. Licking and sucking without any rush to build the tension and hopefully show how much you worship the ground he walks on by paying particular attention to him when he needs it most. James continues to tweak his nipples, and Remus devours his mouth, absorbing every little moan until Sirius needs to pull back to suck in air.
“Fuck, you’re all- Fuck!” Remus distracts him with his mouth once more, dominating him entirely and causing more whimpers to burst from his chest. The veiny length that was being leisurely sucked in your mouth began to harden further, throbbing as you knew he was approaching closer to his orgasm as your hands fondled his balls.
“So good for us, aren’t you, Sirius? Say it, tell us you’re ours”, James demands, pulling on the back of Remus’ hair so that Sirius can tell the group how he is feeling.
“Yes! I’m yours, I’m all of yours! I’m cumming, holy shit!” he shouts out desperately, face scrunching up like he is in pain but is actually experiencing the opposite as overwhelming pleasure pooled in his abdomen.
You moan around his cock, causing it to vibrate slightly against your tongue as his hot seed begins to coat your throat. You swallow every salty, thick liquid drop until you’re popping off and looking up at his half-lidded, satisfied grin.
James and Remus give you room to crawl up his body to kiss him sweetly. The three of you watch and admire as he comes down from the high, carefully tucking his half-hard cock back into his trousers and doing up the zipper once more.
“Thank Merlin that we have no classes this afternoon”, Sirius jokes as he rests back on the pillows with his arm behind his head. You laugh and collapse onto his chest, hugging him closely as the four of you sit in comfortable silence. You listened to the thump of his heart beneath your ear, but after a while, it increased in speed as he became restless.
“Can I tell you all a secret? I’ve um… I’ve kept all of the threatening letters they’ve sent to me, " Sirius admits as he carefully pulls out of the hug to climb out of bed and dig his way through the suitcase with his name on the side. From within, he pulls out a large stack of letters that are all opened and in the same shade of emerald as the one earlier this morning.
“You kept them all? Oh, Sirius”, you say in shock, only guessing what horrible, hateful words are written on those pieces of paper.
Sirius awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, looking embarrassed, “Yeah. I don’t know why. Some weird part of me thought that if I burned them all, they would know and come to the school or something. But, I want to get rid of them if you’ll all help me?”
Neither of you have to answer as you climb out of the bed. After dressing appropriately, the four of you walked down to the lake, where Remus carved a hole into the soil. Sirius chucks the letters within as you all form a semi-circle.
Holding onto his left hand, Sirius raised his wand to the right, pointing it towards the letters and shouting ‘Incendio’. The four of you stand together as the letters burn. Sirius sighs shakily as he holds back tears. “It’s weird. I know people say it’s like a weight off your shoulders, but it genuinely does feel like that”.
“That’s because you’re free, Padfoot!” James shouts enthusiastically, grabbing the boy around the waist and lifting him into the air, hollering and whooping until Sirius laughs. The two crash to the ground as Remus throws his arm around your shoulders, watching the pair finally have some fun today as the smoke billows into the air surrounding you, the ash from those horrible words written on the paper disappearing across the Scottish mountains.

august 24th: brag || @stag-microfic || wc: 326
Regulus's first official game as a Slytherin seeker began with a conversation he overheard.
You see, being small and thin is great when you're on the field, but sometimes it can get you into unexpected situations. Like being overlooked by half the opposing team on the way to their locker room.
“I don't know if you should take him so lightly. I hear this guy is pretty elusive during practice.” The older student's voice was unfamiliar to Regulus.
“Pfft, Reggie? Trust me, I've seen through all the fake nobility and coolness.” The second voice made Regulus tense with recognition. “You'd be surprised how easy he can be when it comes to Sirius. All he has to do is give him a displeased look and Regulus will hand us victory on a platter so as to not disappoint his brother. The Slytherins have no idea how wrong they've been in choosing their new catcher.”
The voices fade away again, leaving only the echoes of loud cheers complimenting their own catcher, who is expected to be much more skillful than that little brat who isn't willing to sweat for an extra club.
Regulus doesn't realize how tightly he has clenched his hands until he begins to feel the sharp nails even through the leather of his gloves. somewhere in the back of his mind, the boastful and rude words of none other than James Potter still echo, as if with every meeting he has with Regulus, he aims to make him hate himself even more.
However, James Potter, of all people, should know that the wounded pride of the Black family sometimes bears unexpected fruit.
Years later, Regulus will not remember a single detail of his first match, but he will always remember the triumphant moment when he loomed over the defeated Gryffindor team with a golden snitch in his hand and looked directly into James' eyes, wiping that boastful smile off his face for the first time.

My official intro post . ⋆✮ ˚ . ✩°。⋆。
𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚘. My name is Regulus Black, and no, you are NOT allowed to call me Reg or Reggie.
A photo my friend Evan took of me without my permission. I will never forgive you, @barbie-wants-to-be-me-fr !!!
I am intersex and I go by he/they pronouns. I don’t like to label myself, but at least I am not straight. I am single and not looking for anyone at all at the moment. I am also autistic and have ADHD. NOT the wild sort. The fucking-tired-bitch-stfu-sort.
My interests:
• Art
• Quidditch (I’m a seeker)
• Poetry (both reading and writing)
• Reading books
• Defence of the Dark Arts
• Analysing every single lyric in every single Taylor Swift song and crying about it
• Makeup
On this blog I will be posting quotes, poetry, art, photographs and selfies and just silly little things that I feel like sharing. If I see any posts about me, I will read them and BEWARE, I will be critical. So you might see me around :) You have been warned.
You will also probably see me having chats with my friends, @remus-lupin-offical is one of them but I’m still waiting for my other idiot friends to finish making their bloody accounts. I will add them here as soon as I can! Update: Took as them long enough, but now they’re also on Tumblr! People you will see me interacting with:
• @sirius-thesstar (Ew)
• @remus-lupin-offical (Why’d you choose my idiot brother as your boyfriend? You’re better than this.)
• @the-real-marls-mckinnon
• @xxcassiexx Dorcas Meadows, a Slytherin I have deep respect for. Say hi to Dorcas!
• @barty-not-barry (My batshit crazy friend)
• @pandora-notyetalovegood (Fellow Slytherin, say hi!)
• @lily-evans-for-ya (In a world of annoying people you are a nice person. Take it as a compliment or don’t. It’s up to you.)
• @captainjamespotter (Annoying Gryffindor)
• @stolemyheelsfromlegolas (DO NOT CALL ME REGIANO FFS) (MARY YOU HEAR ME?!)
• @barbie-wants-to-be-me-fr (Another lovely Slytherin asshole, he and Barty should just shut up and kiss by the way)
• @ur-local-peter-pettigrew (Gryffindor)
• @itty-bitty-bella (Cousin)
• @therealcissyblack (Cousin who loves me :))
• @andro-black (Cousin AS WELL)
• @the-best-slytherin (Luna, a fellow Slytherin)
• @yourfavouritehufflepuffgirl (Ew Hufflepuffs) (Ooc: I love Hufflepuffs)
You will see me arguing with my brother, @sirius-thesstar. Like, a lot. Don’t mind Sirius, he’s an idiot. If we’re arguing in French, do NOT translate if you’re a scaredy cat…
Do not interact if:
• You’re Sirius and you’re mad at me
• You’re a Gryffindor (yeah that goes for you too Sirius) (Slytherin is the best Hogwarts house)
• You’re transphobic
• You’re homophobic
• You don’t like me for some other reason
• You’re a Taylor Swift hater
I love Taylor. Don’t you ever disrespect her. Her new album only further proves that she’s a true poet. Even @sirius-thesstar agrees with me on that.
Other things I love are:
• Cats (I dream of having two black cats and naming them Phoebe and Ruby)
• The sea (It’s so calming to watch, but I HATE swimming. It’s too cold. And wet. Yuck.)
• The rain
• Conan Gray (No one can take his album “Superache” from me. Don’t ever try or I’ll bite you.)
Hope I’ll see you around! (Or not. Depending on my mood)
My tags: #regregregulusreg, #thetorturedpoetofthecave, #regussy, #regulussy
Random edit: Ooc: Eh so I’m a minor and I’m a victim of actual physical and mental abuse and I’m still going through stuff, so eh, “Reggie” might be talking jokingly about abusive parents and a tough upbringing on here and stuff like that… just know that that is my fucked up coping mechanism okay, and I don’t mean any harm, and please if you’re joking around with me about abuse don’t take it too far since it might be triggering for me. Thank you.

Memories - Sirius Black X Reader
Summary: Harry finds an old notebook that belonged to Sirius during his Hogwarts days. In his scruffy handwriting, in an old dusty journal found in Sirius's bedroom is the story of Sirius' first real love.
A/N: Fluff, nostalgia, a little bit of angst if you look too hard. The reader is feminine, using she/her pronouns. Oneshot - blurb is very short but very sweet.
I made a friend today on the train to Hogwarts. She is very sweet and seems very nice. She had a ribbon in her hair, I thought that she looked nice. we talked and she said that she liked my hair too. I also made some new friends. I got sorted into Gryffindor house, it's crazy since my family is all from Slytherin house. I'm sure Mother will be so upset. She is always upset about something.
Harry read aloud to his curious friends, Hermione leaned over his shoulder curiously to look at the small dark grey journal, it was tatted beaten-down bound with leather, covered in dust, but well used.
"Keep reading, Harry," Hermione said gently, knowing that he wasn't reading it with malicious intent, but instead in an attempt to feel closer to his godfather. he turned a few pages until a page caught his eye, and began reading once more.
Reg and I got into a quarrel over some things that didn't really matter. he says I should be more concerned with our family. Reg and I used to be close, but after my third year, he became cold. I love my brother, but I hate to see him hanging around those gits. Malfoy in particular, but I know he is happy now as he has joined the Slytherin team. he's their seeker, but he's no match for Gryffindor this year.
This entry made Harry smile slightly, and chuckle. he continued to flip pages, it was heartwarming. He turned the pages, looking through some messy potions class notes and annotations, and an entry about the marauders map, and how he saw Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail.) sneaking out every night to sneak food from the kitchens. One page, in particular, caught his eye.
I Love Her.
I have loved her every day I've known her. She is brilliant, her eyes sparkle when she speaks, her smile is so bright it lights up the room as if you'd cast Lumos. She's incredibly intelligent, but kind. She's always been gentle with me. I've never met another like her.
I wish that I could make this all go away. All the secrets, the war, the hatred. I wish we could start a family one day, live in a little cottage, and raise children far away from here. We'd visit James and Lily every Christmas, and Remus on halloween. I could give her my mother's ring. I doubt Regulus would mind. We could be so happy. I remember the first day we met. I think i knew then that she was special. She has been unconditionally devoted to me. The night my mother burned my name off our family tree she held me in her arms as i cried and i finally felt what home is supposed to feel like. I wrote her a letter, expressing my yearning for her. I plan to give it to her very soon, along with a locket I picked out. Lily insisted on the dainty silver chain with a locket of our picture from our first year together, she even helped me enchant to image to capture y/n's smile as she sat next to me. she say's it's sentimental, and that girls like this sort of thing.
I never had a home, truly. just four walls surrounding me. My own mother disgraced my name, Regulus has been absent in my life. I'm thankful for my friends but my love for y/n is like no other. i just wish want her to feel the way i do, i hope she does. With everything, she can not get involved it's too dangerous. But I will love her anyway. The kind of love that could break the most heinous curse.
Harry stood for a moment, looking over his godfather's handwriting. it was sentimental. "I wonder if we could find her," Harry offered hopefully. "There's no mention of a last name." Ron pointed out. "I'm sure we could ask someone, if she knew the black family she can't be too terribly hard to find," Hermione said, offering a comforting hand on Harry's shoulder. "I think Sirius would love that."

#16 with James Potter 🤭🤭
Quidditch flirting - James potter x f!reader
Warnings - none? unless you count awful flirting
The game had been going great. As captain of the ravenclaw team it was your job to make sure you led your team to victory. Gryffindor was always hard to beat but your team was good. You’ve trained them to be good. You and James hurl insults at each other everytime you fly past each other. It wasn’t unnatural for the two of you to be arguing as you typically did. Grabbing the quaffle you speed past him heading for the hoops. He shouts as you manage to get it in. Laughing loudly as it’s announced that the ravenclaw seeker caught the snitch.
Flying back down to the safety of the ground you run over to your team, cheering loudly. James and his team land on the ground soon after and you call over to them. “Just so you know you’re all invited to Ravenclaws victory party” You shout loudly. The team cheers while James just flares at you and rolls his eyes. Once you’re cleaned up you head up to your dorm to change. Changing through several dresses you finally decide on a dark blue mini dress. Smoothing it over and fixing up your hair you head downstairs. The party’s in full swing, everyone practically all over, drinking and dancing.
You spot someone you didn’t expect to see after the look he gave you, but James Potter was there. Sitting on the sofa with a girl draped over him. You roll your eyes and head over to the drinks. Pouring yourself a cup and quickly downing it you sigh as the warmth fills you. Someone taps your shoulder and you turn to see a familiar redhead. “Lily!” You shout happily as you wrap your arms around her. She beams at you as she hugs you back. “I noticed you’re not without your usual bothersome creature” She laughs at the fact that James isn’t stalking you currently. “Last I saw him he had some blonde draped over him” You say downing another cup.
“I’m sorry” She says pouting slightly at the look on your face. “It’s nothing, it’s not like we’re together, he’s just an annoying pest” You say grumpily. Looking back over towards him you see him searching the room, presumably for something. You turn away as sirius approaches and you turn to talk to him. After a few minutes of idly chatting you hear someone shout that everyone’s going to play a game. Unfortunately you weren’t able to hear what game exactly before being dragged into the circle. Looking down at the table you groan as you realize exactly what they want to play. Sitting perfectly in the middle of the table is an empty bottle of firewhiskey.
“Oh great” You say rolling your eyes at their antics. “Come on l/n, scared you’re gonna have to kiss Potter?” Barty says from your side. You’re not even sure when he got here but you’re certainly regretting his presence. “I’m not afraid of anything” You shoot back, joining the circle. The bottle spins, Mary kisses Lily, called it. Lily then kisses Remus on the cheek. Remus kisses regulus. Spin. Regulus kisses James. James spins. The bottle lands on you. You breathe out a heavy sigh as you look up at him. “I would rather kiss the giant squid in the black lake” You groan. “Stop saying things that make me wanna kiss the hell out of you” James says as he moves closer.
“Really? That’s what makes you want to kiss me?” You question as he brings his face in front of yours. “I would kiss you anytime, anywhere, no matter the circumstances” He whispers before he leans in and kisses you deeply. As soon as the kiss is done you pull away quickly. Brushing past the crowd as your face warms. Making it out of the common room you breathe a sigh of relief as you reach the prefects bathroom. Rushing in you sit on the bench, thinking about what just happened. Barely even five minutes after you had made it into the bathroom the door swings open. James. Of course he would come after you.
“Was i that bad a kisser?” He jokes as he sits beside you. You drop your head into your hands as you groan. “It- no” You say into your hands. “What was that?” He teases you. “No it wasn’t a bad kiss, what does it matter though? I saw that girl draped over you” You say looking away from him. “Rylie?” He questions. “I don’t know her name” You groan as you shove your face back into your hands. “I don’t like rylie, l/n, surely you know that?” He says as he pulls your hands away. You shake your head as he forces you to make eye contact with him. “I like you” He says firmly. “What?” You whisper in shock. “You. I’ve always liked you, that’s why i tease you” He says smiling. You laugh at his nonsense before pulling him in for another kiss. “Good thing i like you too huh Potter?”

Moonlight To Dawn
Summary: A forgotten night is all it's gonna take to mess up a life. A forgotten warning is all it's gonna take to mess up everything.
Pairing: Sirius black x hufflepuff!reader
Warnings: past toxic friendship, past toxic relationship (not with the reader), insecurities, self conscious , fake dating
Masterlist Last Part Part 7
Wc: 4.2k
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the first game of this Quidditch season! And for the start, we have the most heated game of all! The golden heroes against the silver antihero! The big lion against the sly snake! Ladies and gentlemen, we are watching Gryffindor against Slytherin!" Loud cheering.
"The Gryffindor who played the moderator this time really had no taste. I mean 'sly snake'? 'Silver antihero'? Between the lines, he's saying we're the bad guys! What a jerk…" whispered Cassie. I tried to listen to her, but I couldn't.
I could only focus on what I was seeing right now. A little Black, glaring at his brother's 'girlfriend.' She stared back at him in disbelief.
How could I have overlooked all of this?
Ohhh, Sirius. You little jerk. You despicable, vile, loudmouthed, disgusting, scheming-
"Now that everyone is on the field, we should start soon! Our dear players must move on their brooms and rise into the air. Are you ready?"
Regulus Black knows his brother well. Even when I was with Sirius, he knew when our relationship was just a pastime. He was never mad at me. At least not that I knew of.
"One!"
He knows much more about me and my friends than I want. Sometimes he scares me.
"Two!"
Sirius and he have quite a few conflicts. They almost never agree. And even when I was with Sirius, they argued about it. But not about whiskey.
"Three!"
Why not? Because Regulus didn't know Sirius liked whiskey. Why didn't he know?
"Go!"
Because it's not real. Holy crap, Sirius.
"There, our heroes rise into the air and battle for the balls! Gryffindor's Seeker James Potter searches the field from high above for the Snitch! Will he find it? Probably not, as the game has just begun!"
~~~
"Come on, it's not that bad! I'll take a glass, and you take the bottle, okay?"
She looked at me with wide eyes. It was just whiskey, after all. Why was she making such a big deal out of it? I smiled at her, hoping she would finally drown herself in the drink.
Carefully, she took the bottle and looked at me uncertainly. "Seraph, are you sure nothing will happen?"
I shook my head, laughing. "What could possibly go wrong, you silly? Maybe you'll feel a bit off for a moment, but so what? You'll have done it, and the experience counts, right!"
She stared at the bottle for a long time. Eventually, Damien whistled loudly. "Come on, or I'll take the bottle!"
He was a repulsive guy, way too loud, with too little empathy in his small brain. Leander, sitting next to him, looked at him frustrated and shook his head.
His hair shimmered in the light, and his eyes had that deep brown color I wanted to disappear into. His lips looked so gentle…
An uneasy feeling spread within me, and I took my glass and downed it in one gulp.
"Seraph!" the girl in the yellow uniform looked at me in shock. "Are you okay?"
My head seemed to spin. The face of this ugly girl spun right before my eyes as if it would never go away. I wanted to hit her. Push her away. I wanted to take the bottle and beat her to death with it-
"Of course!" I snapped at her. "And now, hurry up! If you don't have the guts anymore, it's okay, but say it so we don't have to drag this out unnecessarily!"
She flinched and stared back at the bottle.Her lips trembled and something shimmered in her eyes. I felt something like triumph when I saw her fingers turn white from the firm grip on the bottle. "I told you." Phina said after a while. "She's just too scared-"
With one gulp, she opened the bottle and drank. She paused occasionally and then continued. Until. The. Bottle. Was. Empty.
"Damn, she did it!" Damien laughed loudly, probably at my friend's stupidity. He couldn't stop laughing.
"Stop laughing, you jerk," grumbled Leander, looking almost concerned at her. The look in his eyes disgusted me and I wanted to push her out of there. Had he looked at me like that once? No, there was no need to worry about me. Somehow it still made me angry. I don't know why, but I wanted to hit him. I wanted to pull her out of here and never bring her near my friends again.
My little friend swayed and desperately grabbed onto me for support. "Oh my God, she's gone! I can't take it anymore!" Damien laughed even louder. His laughter rang shrill in my head, like a warning. Get out of here.
"Seraff, where are you? What elshe do I hashe to do?" she mumbled the words incompletely and swayed in my arms. Why was I even holding her?
"Let go of me," I snapped at her and pulled away. Her dirty hands seemed much worse than usual. Her eyes were glazed, and it dawned on me that she probably wouldn't remember this tomorrow. "Go to your house. Now."
Confused, she looked at me, as if nothing in her head was functioning. Slowly swaying, she moved toward the exit. I didn't watch her as she left the room.
"Come back tomorrow, 'Whisky'!" Damien shouted after her. "Dude, shut up!" Leander gave him a little slap on the head, but Damien just laughed.
"Why? The name 'Whisky' fits, right?" I wanted to kill him with my gaze. My head throbbed. I didn't know what was happening to me, but something in me sought satisfaction. Phina looked at me approvingly and nodded. Her smile revealed how much she was enjoying the situation. She looked at me with half-open eyes and that stupid smile, I could puke.
"Or don't you think so, Leander?" I challenged him. Agree with me. Now. Come on. Stop hesitating. You're always on my side, what's wrong? Agree with me. Please—
"Well, yes… But—" he looked away and fell silent. Something in me tightened at this 'but.'
"What 'but'?" I asked with a sugary voice. Come on. Say it already. What do you hate so much about me right now? What? Say it. Say it to my face. I want to hear why you're looking at me like that.
"Cassie also collapsed because of the alcohol. What if your friend collapses on the way to her house now?" he scratched his neck and didn't look at me.
Damien groaned loudly. "Oh, who cares. Then she'll miss the test tomorrow, no big deal."
Leander ignored my glances. He stared into the fire. I wanted to push him into it. He should finally say what I did wrong! What did I do?
"Phina, let's go to sleep." I stood up and finally turned away from this guy who frustrated me so much. "We have an important test tomorrow."
She looked at me bored. Then she looked back at Damien, and I saw out of the corner of my eye how they seemed to silently discuss me.
"Come on!" I said now with a firmer voice and went to the girls' dormitories.
"I'm coming already…" said a very annoyed Phina. I wanted to strangle her.
Phina followed me, and we closed the door to the girls' dormitories behind us. But I stayed for a second before closing the door.
"You guys are such assholes." Black. "Be quiet, kid. It's none of your business." Damien. "You should be expelled from school." Regulus Coward Black. "Where are you going?" Leander. "Somebody has to take her to the Hufflepuff house." Two doors slammed in response.
~~
Late it was that evening when I left the Slytherin common room to search for the intoxicated girl. I didn't know her personally, but I somehow felt connected to her. She had been in our Slytherin common room on several occasions.
I saw it all. Seraph, who always dragged her along, or rather, the one who always followed her. Damien, who mocked her. Leander, who felt pity for her but was too captivated by Seraph to do anything. And Phina, who didn't care about anything as long as there was some drama.
It was disgusting to watch them.
I walked through the corridors of the grand castle, wondering how far she had gotten. But certainly not far, because it was dark, and she had a massive amount of alcohol in her system.
Holding my wand high with the Lumos spell, I hoped not to be discovered by teachers as I heard labored breathing. I scanned my surroundings, but there was no one. No corners, no closets to hide in. Yet, I heard that breathing. What the hell?
Soft steps echoed through the corridor as I turned around, trying to find the origin. Was I going mad here?
I turned around and saw a silhouette at the corner of the corridor and was about to run towards it when—
"Regulus, what are you doing here?"
Sirius.
Startled, I turned to my brother, who looked at me inquiringly.
"How did you—? You—Just a moment ago, there was no one there!" I looked at him suspiciously as he gave me a feigned look of confusion.
"What are you talking about, Regulus? I just came from the Gryffindor tower," he said, grinning crookedly. "What are you doing out so late on a full moon?"
"I could ask you the same thing." His gaze hardened a bit. "Besides, it's none of your business."
I turned back to the silhouette, but it had disappeared. Sighing, I continued, disappointed that my slightly older brother was following me.
"Well, I think I have a right to know what my little brother is up to at this late hour," he murmured as he walked behind me. "My little brother wandering around in the middle of the night… What if something happens to you—"
"Shut up, Sirius," I snapped at him, hoping he would lose interest. I looked around, but 'Whisky' was nowhere to be seen.
"Or…" Sirius grinned now. "You're looking for something." He looked at me triumphantly. "I can help—"
"I said, 'shut up, Sirius!'" I listened carefully to the steps, and it seemed like I could faintly hear them.
"What's actually going on with you? Lately, you hardly talk to me! I'm really worried about you, Regulus. Has something happened?" his voice behind me became somewhat harsh. "Did your parents say something?"
"No, they didn't." Lie. "I just find you insufferable lately." Truth. Recently, he basks in his popularity, constantly putting himself in the spotlight and enjoying the attention, with many girls chasing him like little dogs.
I hated how he acted with his 'friends.' Their 'jokes' were just disgusting. I couldn't understand the senseless joy in it. But how could I.
"Hey, what do you mean-"
"Shush!" I signaled for him to shut up. It was very quiet, but you could hear it. A muffled sob.
"Do you hear that too? That-" I couldn't hold back anymore; I punched Sirius lightly to make him understand he should be quiet. "Hey-!"
Very quietly, I took step after step towards the crying. I was almost at the corner of the corridor when-
"What are you doing here anyway?" A. Much. Too. Loud. Sirius.
The crying immediately fell silent. Now it was dead silent. I flipped my brother the middle finger before turning the corner. An empty corridor awaited me. But unlike just now, there was a small cupboard here. A suffocating little cupboard.
Sirius followed me, but before he could say anything, I knocked on the cupboard. "What are you doing there?" he asked, but I ignored him.
"Hello?" I inquired.
Silence.
I knocked again, but this time slower. "Everything okay in there?"
Silence.
"Do you think someone's in there?" Sirius stood behind me with crossed arms, as if I were the dumbest person in the world. He probably never had to hide in school before.
"Sirius, for the last time, please shut up!" I couldn't hear him anymore. "No one asked you to follow me!"
Sirius just shrugged. "As a big brother, it's my duty to annoy you. Besides, I have to be there when you get yourself into trouble."
"That's funny coming from you. As if you've ever fulfilled your duties as a big brother." He was really getting on my nerves.
"Hey, I've made a real effort in the last 2 years to annoy you properly! Nothing that makes you uncomfortable or anything…" He briefly looked out at the shining moon. "But I also had to take care of other things. But I'm trying!"
"Oh yes, you're really busy not doing your homework and annoying other students with your jokes that sometimes go too far!" He infuriated me. How he stood there as if he understood something. As if someone like him understood how I feel and why I don't want anything to do with him.
He is the one who is leaving me alone.
"Okay, Regulus, I have the feeling that you, how should I put it, are angry. Mainly, that's probably due to the absence of your humor, but that can be fixed, don't worry." He came closer. "Next time, you can join us in Hogsmeade. If you want, we can also come up with a prank together!"
"I don't want to participate in one of your bad jokes, really! I'd rather have detention with Professor Binns, and that says something." His smile disappeared. He looked at me almost desperate. For the first time tonight, he said nothing. And that's why I heard it.
"Pffff-"
Laughter.
Sirius pushed me aside, went to the small cupboard, and pulled out his wand. With a slightly tense voice, he said, "Alohomora!" and with a very exaggerated aggressive jerk, he opened the cupboard.
A laughing girl, seemingly out of her mind, looked out at us. Sirius still pointed his wand at her when she -
"AHHHHH!!!" she screamed and blinked against the presumably very bright light. "DON'T EAT ME!"
"Did you hear all that-; Wait, what?" Sirius lowered his wand in confusion and looked at the girl bewildered.
She looked at him as if he were the devil; he had apparently scared her. But his confused look was priceless. I had to chuckle slightly, I admit it. Sirius glared at me and now completely put away his wand.
"Who are you, what are you doing here, and why are you hiding from us, and why in a cupboard???" With each question, he got closer to her, and eventually, his head was half in the cupboard. "Let her breathe; she really doesn't need your breath in her nose." I grinned at him this time and took full advantage of his confusion.
The girl laughed again. Sirius backed off from her and looked at her almost scared. "I don't have bad breath! Or do I?" She laughed even more but shook her head. He grinned at her oddly. "Come on, that wasn't so funny?"
Somehow, I wanted to puke at the sight of the two. "Just let her out already." He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. But then he grinned at the girl in the cupboard again. "I'm sorry. Here, let me help you out." He held out his hand to her. She looked as if she were thinking about it, like only a drunk person could.
"No, thanksh. I can manashe on my own getting out of here; after all, I manashed to get in. Besidez, I don't trusht you yet! It could be that you actually want to zell me to Professor Shlughorn so he can make a potion out of me!" She slipped out of the cupboard and sat swaying on the floor.
Sirius looked dumbfounded at her. He looked between me and her. Eventually, he looked at me utterly bewildered, and I had to laugh. She seemed not to understand him and shook her head. "You think I'm weird, don't you? No, you're jusht not direct enough; what do you want from me?"
"Me? I haven't done anything! What's your problem, anyway?" Sirius still looked at her confused, but he also started to look really worn out. "Seraph said that every good-looking guy who comes to me just wants to take advantage of me! So, what do you want?" The girl glared at him, and now she also looked at me. Slowly she began to speak normally. "And how did you know where I was hiding-"
"Wait, wait, who is Seraph? And more importantly, you find me good-looking?" Sirius tilted his head and grinned at her. I felt increasingly nauseated. "You can go now." I raised my voice again, eager to take her back to her house.
"No, you're right! Where did you know she was?" He looked at me confused. I sighed loudly. "We heard her footsteps, and the cupboard was the only option where she could hide."
"I mean, why did you go out in the middle of the night and look for her?" He looked at me skeptically.
"How did you come out of nowhere? You can't fool me; you suddenly appeared out of nowhere behind me! How?" Now I looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"You just imagined that."
"Then you imagined that I knew where she was. I was just taking a walk and happened to find her."
The girl looked between us and chuckled again.
"What?" we asked simultaneously.
"Sorry." she fell silent and looked at the ground. She stood up, swaying, and tried to walk away but didn't get very far due to the swaying.
"Hey, hey, hey, we must take you back to your house; where do you want to go so late?" Sirius stood up and went to her. I sighed but nodded. "For once he's right; you shouldn't go alone."
But then she took Sirius' hand and pulled him behind her. "Hey, don't you think it's a bit too early for hand-holding?" Sirius asked with that disgusting tone. Confused, she stared at him; alcohol must have taken her mind for flirting. "Where do you want to go? The Hufflepuff common room is in the other direction." I said and pointed her in the right direction.
Uncomprehendingly, she stared at me. "But we have to go to the hospital wing first." She just pointed in the other direction. "And it's over there."
Sirius laughed softly. "Maybe you really belong in the hospital wing, but I don't think you want to be caught there because of alcohol consumption, believe me."
"Not because of me. You're injured." She said to him, looking at him questioningly.
"What are you talking about?" I asked since I didn't notice any injury on Sirius. "His arm. He has a wound there. That's why his uniform is so messy." She shrugged and tapped on Sirius' right arm. He flinched in response to this touch.
Sirius looked at me, attempting to appear confused. "I think we should take her away quickly before she collapses from the alcohol."
"You're much more likely to collapse." She said, smiling at him. "Come on, you don't have to act so tough. Just let yourself be taken to the hospital wing." Again, she walked off, pulling Sirius along with her.
"Is that true? Where did you get that wound?"
"You're not really interested anyway. Anything related to me doesn't really matter for you." Sirius muttered. "You're just on our parents' side anyway."
I glared at him. "Now you're just talking nonsense to wallow in self-pity again."
"Hey, no more arguing! He's injured; that's more important now!" 'Whisky' looked at both of us angrily. Sirius looked at her almost guilty. "Sorry," he said, but she just shook her head. "Apologize to him, not me. He was just worried."
Sirius turned to me. "I'm sorry, Regulus." She nodded at him and now looked at me expectantly. I sighed loudly but finally gave in. "Sorry, Sirius."
Acknowledging, she nodded at both of us. "Good, now let's-" But then she blushed. She looked at Sirius for a long moment and then at her hand that was holding Sirius' hand. Startled, she let go of his hand and looked at him in confusion. "Are you Sirius Black?"
"Would that be a problem for you?" he asked, looking at me questioningly. I just shrugged.
"No, of course not," she whispered softly, putting some distance between Sirius and her. "You can tell the truth; no one would blame you. I would understand it very well!" I said, grinning at Sirius, who just looked annoyed at me.
"Who are you, anyway? Do I know you?" he asked, looking at her hesitantly. But she just shook her head. "No, don't worry, of course not. I'm nothing without Seraph, so it doesn't matter anyway-"
"Who the hell is Seraph? You mentioned her twice, and again, she doesn't seem very likable to me," Sirius said. I laughed at that. "A bitch. She's a bitch. But an interesting one."
Sirius looked at me confused. "Aha." He turned back to her. "Why are you drunk wandering around the castle in the middle of the night?"
"Seraph," I just said, and that explained everything. Sirius apparently didn't understand this simple explanation. He now looked accusingly at me. "So, you did know why she's here and went looking for her!"
"It's not that important now; you need to go to the hospital wing!" a very confused Hufflepuff said. "You're injured!"
"And you need to go to your bed!" Sirius looked at her just as accusingly. "You've apparently drunk yourself to passing out! Probably because you haven't gotten over your friend or something, right? Well, let me give you a tip, drinking doesn't help at all!"
She looked at him somewhat frightened. "That's not how it was… I just did it for Seraph, that-"
"Seraph really seems to be a bitch," Sirius said. I nodded. "Yeah, she's perfect for you," I added.
"Hey!"
"He's right."
Both of us looked at her confused. She looked down. Sirius laughed nervously. "Hey, I didn't mean to be mean or anything-"
She looked at him in shock. "No, no, that's not what I mean! I just mean… she's so nice and beautiful and funny and -" she took a deep breath. And then breathed out again. "She's amazing. And she really just wants to help me."
Sirius looked at me confused. This time I looked just as confused back. "What the hell do you mean-"
"You know what? We should really take you to the hospital wing now!" she quickly changed the subject and went back swaying towards the hospital wing. I followed her, gesturing for Sirius to follow. She probably wouldn't go back to her house until Sirius was treated.
"Hey, what's your name?" Sirius looked at her curiously. She looked at him confused. "(Y/n)"
We stood in front of the hospital wing. When Sirius turned to her again. "Well, (Y/n), firstly, your laughter is really cute, and secondly, I already like you more than Seraph." With that, he disappeared behind the door.
A very confused (Y/n) stood next to me. But upon closer inspection, she seemed to be blushing. Wait, what?!
"Uh… I should probably go to my dorm, right?" she looked at me hesitantly. I just couldn't imagine someone like her… No, that was just wrong.
"Yeah, let's go. I'll take you." I finally said. Awkwardly, we walked down the corridor while my mind was racing.
"What year are you, by the way?" she asked eventually, smiling at me crookedly. Her way too innocent face was killing me.
"Third. Are you in love with my brother?"
Silence.
"How, what, why do you think that???" She looked at me with a red face.
I looked at her for a long time, but I had to sigh. "I don't care about that, but I just want to warn you. My brother is not really known for serious and lasting relationships."
She looked at me for a long time. Then she smiled one of those sad smiles and looked ahead. "I know. It's not like I think I could ever be in a relationship with him."
We walked in silence for a while. Outside, the full moon was slowly going down while the sun seemed to be rising. "That's not what I meant. I just want to tell you that you have to love yourself first. And you have to finally let go of Seraph. By now, you must see that yourself."
We stood in front of the Hufflepuff entrance as she looked at me hurt. "You can go now."
I looked at her for a long time. "Otherwise, you'll always remain 'Whisky'."
I saw her tears and left.
~~~
In the end, I don't know what happened that night. Whisky couldn't remember herself, probably because of the alcohol. I only found her exhausted outside the Hufflepuff house the next day. She didn't come in, must have forgotten the password. We had a test that day.
Everything seemed normal with her, but she was a bit wobbly on her feet. At some point Sirius Black came to her and asked if she was feeling better. At that moment, I was confused as to why he was even talking to someone like her.
"She's fine!"
And then she pukes on her test. Since then, teachers have been looking more at students who look like they have been drinking.
And now this boy, who looked after her that evening, had this mad look in his eyes as he went up into the sky.

SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS? DPS CHARACTERS AS HOGWARTS HOUSES AND VARIANTS
NEIL PERRY - GRIFFINDOR I am talking the full look - Red Converse - House Scarf - Head Boy - Seeker and Overall Party Person Variants - Both Sirius and Regulus Black
Todd Anderson - GRIFFINDOR!!!!!! Hear me out on this - Is a Neville Longbottom type of Gryffindor - Has that spirit - Lesser known than most others and definitely wonders about not being a Hufflepuff Variants - Remus Lupin and Neville Longbottom
Charlie Dalton - Okay Two Ways this can go down? 1) Has that Draco Malfoy vibe - I mean look at him and like his whole dynamic with Meeks - Could definitely come from a Pure-Blood Family and still flaunt that energy
2) A Gryffindor - I mean hear me out on this - A bit like Sirius and Regulus but also a dash of Bill or like Fred Weasley - Loyal to the freaking core - So yes - there might be a higher chance of him being the outlandish Gryffindor, the long lost child of Slytherin House Variants - Sirius and Regulus Black but also Fred Weasley and Draco Malfoy
Knox Overstreet as Slytherin or Gryffindor ? Hear me out on this one. He is the Poster Child for both houses. Sticks to his family and definitely values it - The whole thing with Chris showed more or less his ambition - determination to get what he desires - Yes people wonder why he is in Slytherin though If in Gryffindor he is just James Potter's long lost great uncle or something - Is probably Quidditch Captain who chases after the first girl he saw on the train Variants - James 'Freaking' Potter - NOTHING ELSE TO SEE
Steven Meeks - REVENCLAW I am talking about being sorted in Record Time - That's it - He is in the Wizard's Chess Club and has founded an array of speakeasy style clubs around Hogwarts (for dancing - muggle drinks - and well GREAT MUSIC) - Like Ravenclaws poster child who everyone freaking hates (affectionately) - Aces all exams and has a time turner to attend classes - As for variants? Well - he has his nerd > geek energy so Yes - LUNA LOVEGOOD Variants - Luna Lovegood - Alice Longbottom
Gerard Pitts - The One True Hufflepuff No questions asked - I am talking about Pitts the all Star Chaser of Hufflepuff - Sneaks into kitchens to organize midnight feasts - Stays up cramming his head for exams style Hufflepuff - But also very very sweet - People see him hang out with Meeks and yes there seems to be a weird Black Cat Golden Retriever Energy - Late to class but gets shit done Variants - Newt Scamander - Tonks- Frank Longbottom energy is there somewhere
Richard Cameron - Slytherin Well who is proud of it - I'd say he holds it altogether - He does a few extracurriculars but is extremely ambitious about shooting up a career at the Ministry - Has definitely invented a number of secret curses to get around Hogwarts and to meddle with Dalton - Head Boy in his final year - Everyone Hates Him but in truth everyone is just kinda scared of him Variants - Lucius Malfoy but also Severus Snape (tries to be friends with everyone - but does not work out) BUT MAJOR PERCY WEASLEY FLEX

Black Beats Black - IV. Dentelle de la Reine Anne Part 1.
Part 2. (Sorry Tumblr can't handle the size) Chapter I. - II. - III. Read on my AO3
“I really doubt that he wants love from me.”
“Of course he does,” Pandora argues. “You’re his brother and he adores you.”
Emmeline, who has stayed quiet, sends him a tense look. “Sirius is literally dying because of unrequited love. I agree that it’s certainly what he needs the most in any shape. From you or anyone else…”
Regulus shakes his head. They are heading toward the Room of Come & Go before breakfast to fetch his brother. It’s not a surprise that Sirius didn’t show up to watch the Quidditch game yesterday. Where would he stand? By Lupin and Pettigrew’s sides? They were there to watch and support their team with the rest of their friends, Sirius’ team, but he probably wouldn’t have been able to handle it.
He isn’t angry at him for not coming but the door didn’t open up last night. Regulus had celebrated his team’s victory a bit with his friends - the game finished rather quickly and if he honest it feels like the Gryffindor’s seeker was nowhere to be seen. Although everyone in their team wasn't as good as before; James managed to lose the quaffle two times which Regulus had never seen happen to him before.
It had been boring but at least easy on his lungs considering that he coughed three times during the game. So far, it has only been petals compared to Sirius who has full flowers but it hurts. Pandora’s potion prevented most of the time from anything spilling out and thankfully in the middle of the Quidditch game he could let them fall into the wind. His throat feels full and scratchy most of the time and if he takes a deep breath he can almost feel the petals rustling with it.
Sirius never truly complained about it but he can imagine that the pain must be far worse. Emmeline had mentioned before the game how Sirius not being on the team really changed their dynamic for the worst and Dorcas, who believed they shouldn’t underestimate them in any case, quickly agreed before even the first point.
Regulus should offer to fly with Sirius. After the break it might be too cold and Sirius’ lungs too burdened to be safe or enjoy it. Dorcas and Emmeline already flew with him - Regulus has stayed behind with Pandora and Evan to look for a cure for the Hanahaki. They have written to people who came across Hanahaki: healers, curse-breakers, spouses. They haven’t found, nor does he think they will, anyone who might have survived the Hanahaki. Regulus has felt guilty that he didn’t spend time with Sirius considering that he found no leads but he is pleased that his friends and his brother are getting along. Never would he have considered that an option in his life.
“Did you hear Barty leave?” Evan asks.
Regulus frowns. These two are always running after each other like a duo of hunters always switching who is the prey and neither appear to notice their eternal dance. They are strangely synchronized. Both of them got jealous over the other being too close to Regulus; as if he is a moron who can’t understand that they somehow want to eat each other and be eaten at the same time. Evan loses all his decorum for Barty, which has been a shock to Regulus who grew used to the well-mannered and calm facade he used to wear, and Barty— Barty is more Barty than he should be.
“No. I was probably sleeping.”
It took him a long time to fall asleep because of a lack of news from Sirius. Emmeline has told him that she stayed with him since she didn’t go watch the game. They have apparently chatted about arts but she assured that Sirius is fine, probably only tired.
“Why? Was he noisy?” Dorcas asks.
Evan shakes his head, clearly unhappy and Regulus doesn’t understand how he can be sad over not starting a day with Barty’s babyish manners when he wakes up. It’s always the worst, as if he regresses during his sleep and loses all basic intelligence.
“No. But he took his bag. So he didn’t plan to drop by our dorm again— so either he is with someone or couldn’t sleep,” Evan complains with a rough voice.
Dorcas snorts and outright chuckles at his glare. “Oh come on, breathe. With whom Barty would go? He probably went off musing or brooding somewhere. You know how he is.”
“He likes to be moving,” Emmeline confirms.
“Don’t worry Evan,” Pandora says, slipping at his side for their arms to cross and hands to join. “Barty won’t stay lost too long without you.”
He frowns at her before scoffing. “I don’t worry.”
Regulus stays quiet but his mocking eyebrows are noticed by Emmeline who chuckles quietly behind her hand with a pointed look at Evan. He smirks in return - there is no need to insist but they all know that Evan is actually jealous, probably a bit worried, of whoever might be with Barty. His possessive streak can be impressive.
Because he hasn’t gotten a real sign from Sirius, Regulus decided to check on him before breakfast but all his friends followed without really asking - Pandora as always joining them despite their different houses. He is glad that Sirius isn’t mad that they all know about his curse. It could have been a deal breaker but Regulus is convinced that his brother only cares that none of his Gryffindor friends learn about it.
He can not picture what Sirius could have done to cause such a break, especially with James. But it’s probably for the better, for Regulus at least who is better off as far away as he can be from James.
The door to the Room needs a minute before appearing, which is a bit surprising as Regulus has barely needed to even stop to enter it before. It only takes him a second to realise why it might have hesitated to open up when he spots Sirius’ bed.
His brother is there, no mistake whose long dark hair is on the white pillows. What shouldn’t be here is Barty snoring beside him, looking as dishevelled and as naked as Sirius.
“Oh bloody he-”
“Barty?!” Evan screams and Emmeline jumps to Regulus’ side with wide eyes.
Sirius startles, straightening up for a bit which only shows more of his chest— tattooed? That’s not something Regulus was aware of. His brother squints at them before widening his eyes. Regulus throws him a deadpan for the gesture of it.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” Sirius blurts out, almost falling out of bed as he clumsily leaves it with the blanket to cover himself.
Barty is completely naked, just like Sirius, and appears to wake up because he turns on his back with a groan.
“Bloody— Pandora don’t look for Merlin’s sake,” Dorcas blurts out.
“Why not?” She asks, voice rising in amusement despite the hand covering her eyes.
“Evan-”
He only cuts Emmeline’s words by casting a nasty jinx at Sirius, who ducks right in time to avoid it.
“Careful!” He spits before hiding behind his bed when a stinging jinx flies close.
“Evan stop!” Regulus shouts, stepping in but he is rudely pushed aside.
“For Morgana’s sake, shut up!” Barty screams as he curls up on the bed.
Dorcas groans. “Why do I even try?”
Sirius sneaks a peek from his hiding spot and he seems to fully catch on what is going on when he spots Evan’s face. Regulus knows better than to come in between Evan and Barty but he slips his wand out to at least salvage what he can. Emmeline looks weirdly pleased by what’s going on despite her wide eyes.
“Evan, mate,” Sirius articulates as his face falls when Evan rushes toward them. “It’s n-”
Regulus tries to follow but his protego is too slow for Evan’s levicorpus. Before he even blinks, Sirius is dangling in the air by his ankle, thankfully with the blanket still in one hand to cover his groin.
“I’m dealing with you later,” he growls and throws another spell.
Sirius’ hair flips despite the gravity and morphs as snakes which start biting at him.
“Bloody hell stop that and put me down you arse!”
He tries to push his hair out of his face but the snakes don’t stop and attack anything to their reach. Barty suddenly sits up just as Sirius’ curses are silenced by another swift cast of Evan. This one, Regulus lets it pass and only sighs when his brother mutedly turns to him, revolted.
“You deserve that one,” he mutters but casts a spell to cushion the floor below the glaring Sirius just in case.
“Oh cra-”
“You’re dead Bartemius!”
Barty’s reflex is good but not enough to jump away from Evan’s reach. He rolls out of bed at the second stinging hex, this one missing, but his arse is already aching red. Regulus spots Barty’s wand flying to where he is hiding before he stands up with a shield charm bouncing off Evan’s furious spells.
“Stop that Evan!”
“Cover yourself!”
“Wha-”
Emmeline probably didn’t mean to distract him but Barty glances down to see that he is fully naked in front of all of them. It’s enough for his Protego to be broken and for him to be hit by Evan’s sharp flipendo. Before he even hits the ground, ropes are shot at him and tighten around him. It’s clearly painful by his slight grimace but Barty quickly leers at Evan with a wicked look as the latter straight up walks on the bed to stomp over.
Regulus quickly takes that as a sign to put Sirius back to his feet with a miffed glare. The snakes try to bite him and almost manage to get his wand.
“Really? Barty?” He whispers without holding back the slight anger at the unfolding drama. “You didn’t think that perhaps Evan would have a problem with that?”
“How could I know?!” Sirius hisses out as he keeps the blanket on his lap, naked arse on the ground.
“If you wanted to tie me up you could have just asked with a pretty please Evan,” Barty says.
“You shut your mouth before I burn your tongue!” Evan hisses. “So that’s why you were playing nice with him?! Just to snog him!”
Regulus quickly muffles out Sirius’ indignant shriek with his hand. The snakes made out of his hair snap at him with furious bites as he tries to figure out how to cancel them since Finite Incantatem doesn’t work.
Barty rolls his eyes at him. “Oh please, you always hated him! What are you upset about?”
“Oh I’m so done with you, I swear Barty— I’m sick of you and your blasted mug!”
Sirius nudges Regulus’ leg with a frown at Evan grabbing Barty by his hair to put his wand at his throat, the latter only grins with a wild glint in his eyes.
“Are they together or not?” He asks. “Because it’s him who came to me, I swear.”
“I wish,” he mumbles. “Barty just likes playing with fire and Evan is stupid for him.”
“Jealous much?” Barty sneers and chokes when the wand digs a bit too far but his smirk stays strong. “What can I say, I’m fond of long hair.”
Barty did do it on purpose. Evan only started actively hating Sirius in third year because Barty commented on how his hair had grown - that it looked nice and soft enough to make him want to touch it. Before that, only Regulus truly complained about his brother but Evan started to add up on all his complaints with his own as he tried to grow out his own hair; which he angrily cut when Barty was found snogging a girl from Hufflepuff just at the start of this year.
“For Merlin’s sake just stop you two before I lose it!” Dorcas snaps. “You’re both endlessly teasing each other so just get it done once and for all!
“You freaking wanker-”
“You make me blush Evan.”
“I knew you would try to get in bed with him, you bloody slag!”
“Hey I resent that!” Sirius shouts just as Dorcas throws her hand, giving up.
Evan turns to him with blazed eyes and his wand pointed on them. “You-”
Barty makes him trip and traps him to the ground with his whole body. “Got y-CAZZO! Le mie palle!”
So Evan is ready to hit where it hurts.
“Alright that’s it, let them kill each other,” Dorcas says and throws Sirius a look. “You, dress up so we can get breakfast.”
His brother grunts when one of the snakes bites his cheek, he slaps it. “Does it look like I can go out like that?!”
Regulus sighs and accios his uniform and bag, hoping that he prepared everything for his class today. “Evan isn’t going to help any time soon so let’s just go.”
Sirius thankfully doesn’t try to be more difficult, hastily dressing up behind a folding screen that the Room conjures, before following them outside as Evan and Barty keep on fighting and insulting each other.
“Please Room, keep them in here until they start making sense,” Dorcas prays as they walk out of it. “For my sanity and peace for us.”
“Are you—” Emmeline side-steps Sirius when she comes too close and a snake tries to bite her. “Alright?”
“He cursed my hair!”
“You deserve it,” Regulus reminds. “What were you thinking?”
“Barty is the one who came up saying that it would be sad dying without having sex. I don’t bloody know what happened!” Sirius argues with his voice starting to sound shrill. “And how did you even get in? I would have never wanted for you to walk in.”
“He obviously did it on purpose,” Dorcas says. “Barty always wants to get any kind of reaction from Evan so that’s probably why the Room let us in.”
“Are you saying he used me?”
Emmeline looks up in surprise at Sirius’ cold tone. “No— well, in a way, yes. But Barty wouldn’t do that now that we are friends. It’s true that with Evan he is a bit unruly but he couldn’t have predicted that we would come here this morning. It’s an unlucky coincidence.”
“It’s true,” Regulus confirms. “They followed me but I was going to see you by myself. How did that even happen?”
Sirius sighs and slaps the snake that tugs at his collar shirt. “Barty showed up at the crack of dawn to knock at my door. The Room probably thought he was homeless.”
“You were awake?” Regulus frowns.
“I was planning to take a walk before breakfast, for the sunrise and all,” he quickly answers but it comes out a tad bit too oblivious that it’s a lie. “That’s how I found Barty offering to have sex with me and I certainly didn’t know Evan and him were a deal.”
Pandora hugs him as they walk toward the Great Hall. His brother relaxes and smiles, wrapping an arm around her like it has naturally come to happen with her never-ending hugs.
“They have been running after each other since forever,” Dorcas complains. “Evan is frighteningly jealous and possessive which Barty knows. That’s probably why he even mentioned your hair, even if he likes it, but since you’re Reg’s brother it’s more effective than anyone else.”
“Evan tried to grow his hair at that,” Emmeline recalls. “Still is actually but I think he likes it, even if it’s not as long as you, but Barty never said anything. Which doesn’t help.”
“To torture him,” Regulus points out. “But Evan definitely returns the favour. You have no idea how many times he faked being drunk to cling to Barty or how he teases him with the smallest thing.”
“That’s why I try to not eat with these two around,” Dorcas grunts out. “How did you not catch up on that Sirius?”
“I mean, I saw that they often get into each other’s space, teasing or fighting but you always cut them off so I figured they were really at each other’s throats.”
“They are but for the wrong reason.”
Regulus frowns at Sirius. “So you really did it?” He sighs at his indignant blush. “Well good luck with dealing with Evan now that’s done.”
“Was it worth it at least?”
“I’m this close to obliviate everyone then myself,” Sirius says, snorting with them.
“Barty’s cock is smaller than I thought,” Pandora admits.
Emmeline chokes a laugh while Sirius snickers. Dorcas holds her stomach as she starts to wheeze to Regulus’ amusement who shares a sly look with Pandora.
“Tell me how I can convince you to say that to Barty’s face,” Emmeline requests with a beautiful wicked smile.
Pandora purses her lips against Sirius’ arm. “Hum… If you try the potion I’m brewing, the effect will be random.”
“That’s fair,” she agrees. “I risk my life and you too.”
Despite the joyful scene, Sirius looks deeply tired and Regulus wonders if he couldn’t sleep or something else kept him awake. Despite the full moon, the sky was too cloudy to stargaze so it’s probably not for that. He will need to ask if the flowers got any worse. They reached the Great Hall so he can’t ask him yet. Usually, he likes to be a bit early to enjoy some quietness before everyone comes to eat before classes start but they got a bit late thanks to his brother and Barty.
“If I knew I would have kicked him out, I swear,” Sirius babbles even though no one pokes him. “I don’t want to— botch-”
“It’s fine Sirius,” Regulus promises as he can clearly read the guilt brewing in his eyes. “It’s not the first time.”
“And I would rather keep you than Evan,” Dorcas says.
“Not Evan,” Pandora gasps. “I love him!”
“Alright, one vote to keep Barty and one for Evan. Em’?”
“Evan. Barty bite me.”
“Love, it was first year.”
“And I got a scar.”
“Fair enough.”
Pandora frowns at her. “Didn’t you give him that burn though?”
“That was an accident in potion!”
“Reg’?”
“Kick them both out.”
“Sirius?”
“I get a vote?” He asks, slightly surprised, as he sits down with them - Pandora letting go of his arm to sit at his side and Regulus on Sirius’ left.
“Yes of course,” Dorcas says with a smile. “We’re friends.”
Regulus hides a smile and picks up the pot of coffee to fill Dorcas’ cup, Sirius’ and his. Emmeline picks the one for hot water as Dorcas brings Pandora’s and Emmeline’s favourite teas closer. He can see his brother trying to think of an answer but he notices the sudden silence in the Great Hall before that.
“Where the hell did I just sit,” he realises with eyes only widening when he catches on all the Slytherins around them.
“Let me braid your hair,” Pandora cheers, taking out the small precious comb from her shirt’s pocket - a birthday gift from Evan - to start while the snakes completely let themselves be handled without a fight.
Of course Evan’s magic wouldn’t harm Pandora. Sirius shoots her an astonished look before focusing on Regulus.
“Does it matter?” He answers to his bewildered face. “You already sat down, it’s too late anyway.”
“One of us,” Pandora whispers menacingly. “One. Of. Us.”
Regulus has no idea if his brother has given up, too tired or because of everything else, but he stays put at the Slytherin’s table. Even if Sirius tried to walk out discreetly, everyone’s eyes are already buried into him as if he is some kind of mirage.
“Is that Sirius Black?”
“Is he cursed?”
“I thought his brother hated him…”
Perhaps no one pays attention to his state, the eye bags and the newborn thinness in his limbs, since the spectacle is Sirius Black at the Slytherin table. They must have noticed that he has been avoiding the Great Hall for a while now, how the Marauders kicked him out, so it’s quite the come back.
“What is the meaning of this, Black?!” A seventh year hisses out, standing up from his seat not far from that. “You can’t sit-”
Regulus’ wand barely moves but the Slytherin’s meal jumps to her face. Students scoot away in haste with a wary look at Regulus while she screeches about the hot coffee, butter in her hair and porridge in her clothes.
“Stuff your mouth before I do it again, Carrow,” Regulus warns and sips his coffee.
Sirius is weirdly exalted as she storms out with two of her followers. Snape is seething with his worthless eyes throwing daggers at him but thankfully his brother appears to be far too happy to play the scandal to notice as he fills his plate. Pandora is a regular trespasser at their table, which at first many people complained about even though there isn’t a real rule forbidding people to go to another table, but because she is brilliant at potion Slughorn doesn’t really feel up to the task to tell her off.
Regulus still checks on their house’s head who talks restlessly with McGonagall, who almost smiles when she meets Regulus’ eyes, but they don’t appear to do anything. Dorcas is pleased and starts a conversation about their upcoming Potion essay. Emmeline slightly shifts in her seat, innocently scooting closer to her and she vaguely signs with her eyes at Regulus. It’s not hard to see what she means.
It’s a wretched feeling that catches him, despite completely expecting it, as his eyes are hooked to James Potter. It has always been like that but before Sirius was always on Potter's side which had always helped Regulus to keep his soul in check from the foolish earning. Now though there is nothing to pain him, not when his brother is at his side, or to confuse his eyes from feasting.
Potter isn’t looking any different from last time, a bit worn-out and clearly worked up. The rest of his friends are around him with the same confused and speechless expression that feeds Regulus with a twisted satisfaction: yes, his brother is with him. Lupin isn’t here and he hopes that he died somewhere in a ditch. Evans is trying to talk to him. They don’t appear angry at Sirius but still agitated about it, whether it’s positive or not, Regulus has no idea and quickly tries to cover any of his thoughts that might appear on his face when James Potter’ eyes fall on him.
He holds his gaze despite the distance and how McKinnon cuts his sight by shifting in front of Potter to talk or turn to her friends. His eyes stay sharp, glimmering behind his glasses, and unmoving even when he answers to someone. It doesn’t feel like a fight but Regulus considers it as good as one. It’s a bit disappointing that James’ warm brown eyes appear unaffected. There is no anger that he lost Sirius or even one drop of judgement— the rest of his face is also unaffected but his shoulders slowly rise before falling down with the grace of a breath. Potter tilts his head slightly to speak to Pettigrew but his eyes, slightly hooded by his eyelashes, are still on Regulus.
His body is far too weak and he quickly focuses on his cup to ignore this new picture. Many thoughts come to his mind, enough to write a heavy book with only curses dedicated to every single part of James Potter. Regulus needs to forget about all that. Their relationship is resumed as rivals for Sirius, even if Potter would probably laugh at that, and Regulus has never been prone to give up on what he likes. That’s how Sirius was thrown down the stairs at 5 years old when he tried to steal Regulus’ favourite blanket; a reaction he still wouldn’t change if it ever came to happen again but hopefully Sirius has learnt from his mistakes.
“I have a sudden headache.”
Regulus blinks up just in time to see Barty kiss the top of Dorcas’ head, who only painfully sighs out another time, and Evan sitting down completely dishevelled at his side. Loud whispers from the start to the end of their table, and others’, erupt as Barty stretches with no shame the hickey of the size and colour of a niffler on his neck. Regulus quickly holds back his imagination when he spots a tad of blood on Barty’s collar.
“What is wrong with your lot?!” Mulciber shouts.
“Never seen what pleasure looks like eh?” Barty sneers, not sitting down yet beside Evan.
“Don’t try me, you barmy fag,” he hisses.
Emmeline glances coldly amongst them as Dorcas glares at him. Pandora still braids Sirius’ hair but her face has fallen to scowl at people at the other side daring to be pleased at Mulciber’s words. The table is broken with different kinds of tension and a lot of wands are definitely at the tips of their fingers. The whole Great Hall is still watching their table even if it is moved from Sirius to his two friends who might have shagged and fought at the same time.
It’s thankfully broken by a ringing clink when Evan empties his glass of juice in one go before, with no mercy, hauling Barty down to kiss him. A loud clatter explodes and Sirius almost jumps out of his seat, blocking Regulus, with a protecting hand on Pandora’s shoulder.
“Mulciber!” Slugghorn shouts as he rushes to their table. “A word.”
“What?!”
“Look at them! That’s disgusting!”
Regulus would agree because he can clearly see Barty drinking from Evan’s mouth. He lists spells to become blind in his head to distract himself. Slugghorn grabs Mulciber’s lot, dragging them outside with a grim look at their table, which shifts to anxious when he walks past the salacious kiss. Emmeline watches with almost no shame and Dorcas is clearly coming up with a murder when Barty moans, pushing Evan against her to deepen the kiss.
They let go of each other at last and Regulus rubs his eyes as he mourns his innocence.
“We should try that with everything,” Barty says, breathless, and his tongue flying around his lips.
Evan’s lips twitch, softly taping Barty’s cheek away, and checks over what food is near them.
“I’m not sharing more of my pumpkin juice with you.”
“Don’t say it Barty,” Dorcas hisses before he even opens his mouth. “I know what you will say and I will bury you right here and now.”
He snickers and Evan blushes but ignores his nudge. She throws them a glare just to be safe and offer the same to anyone else watching them. Regulus glances at his brother to see him completely speechless but thrilled.
“Evan, I prepared your tea,” Pandora says with a smile, still braiding black hair. “Can I have mash please? Also congratulations to you both.”
Sirius feeds her a spoonful and a snake tries to bite his hand. He throws a look at Evan drinking his tea.
“If you’re happy now just cut that crap with my hair.”
“Feel lucky that you still have hair,” he hisses before straightening himself and brushing his own. “But I’m not mad at you anymore. So I accept your apology.”
“Hard to be mad after that, uh?” Barty whispers.
Emmeline chuckles, buttering her toast. Regulus suddenly realises that they are all mad. It shouldn’t be a surprise but this morning has tired him out and he isn’t quite sure of what to think at this point.
“Please,” he articulates. “Don’t restart this show.”
“I’m done!” Pandora says, letting go of the fantastic, intricate and impossible-looking braid she made out of Sirius’ hair.
The snakes barely have the chance to move because of the braid and some start to attack each other. Dorcas whistles at her work and Pandora pushes it on Sirius’ shoulder to show it off.
“This is beautiful.”
“Thank you Pandora, it’s amazing,” Sirius says with a pleased grin, quickly withdrawing his hand when the snakes try to jump at it, before frowning at Evan. “Why am I the one punished and Barty is still in one piece?”
“Who said I’m done with him?”
Sirius squints at them with a curious look before glancing around - thankfully he doesn’t appear to be able to see his group of friends behind the wall made of Emmeline and Dorcas.
“Look, if I had known I would have kicked Barty out-”
“Rude,” he says. “I even brought a potion for you.”
Regulus notices his brother’s panicked look at Barty’s words and glances between them two.
“What potion?”
“Do we need to speak about that?” Evan huffs out.
“Yes.”
“This madman,” Sirius hisses and lowers his tone even further, “brewed Polyjuice.”
“Out of—?”
“I thought it could have helped,” Barty defends himself.
His brother coughs horridly and his throat sounds like worn-out glasses rubbed together. Whatever manages through his mouth is hidden in his hand and he vanishes it under the table. There is no need to figure that out considering Sirius’ condition: it can only be Polyjuice out of Remus Lupin. Regulus indignantly looks at Barty.
“How did you even get something of his?”
“My fingers are very skilled,” he says with a smile. “Aren’t they E-”
“Are you insane?” Dorcas asks.
“Look, I figured it doesn’t hurt anyone and maybe it would have solved this mess. Plus I wanted to check what’s in his pants.”
Regulus blankly stares. “You have a bloody problem.”
“That’s what I said!” Sirius agrees.
“Wait, that’s why our dorm’s bathroom smelled?” Evan suddenly turns to him. “And why did you even brew it in the first place?”
“Don’t spoil the surprise.”
“So that’s it?” Emmeline asks. “You’re finally together?”
“It’s still a curse,” Dorcas mutters.
“Do you need help, Meadowes? There is someone we could as-”
“Don’t play with the speck of patience I still have.”
Sirius laughs but something bothers him by his slight forced smile. He glances at Regulus who tries to ask what is his problem without a word, but it only spurs him to look back at their friends.
“Aren’t you worried about what your father will say?”
“Hope he chokes and dies miserably,” Barty replies with his fingers crossed and Pandora laughs, copying him.
Evan understands that the question is meant for him, mainly, as a fellow Pure-blood. Whatever animosity he kept up trickles as he shares an almost excited smile.
“Whatever happens, I’m not alone so it will be fine,” he declares. “Plus, Barty brought up excellent arguments.”
“Please, as if you talked,” Regulus says. “I’m even surprised you are out there.”
“You either fought or shagged.”
“In my room?!” Sirius realises.
“We did talk.”
“Someone’s mouth was rather busy but we mana-”
Evan stuffs Barty’s face with a toast. A lot of people stare at them, even when they have finished their breakfast and are leaving, which helps them realise that the classes are starting soon and they have barely started to eat. Regulus doubts that Sirius will be fooled again to join them for a meal in the Great Hall. His posture isn’t completely relaxed and his eyes jump to avoid any glimpse of the Gryffindor table.
“Barty,” Pandora calls, “your cock is smaller than I thought.”
“What?”
“Panda!” Evan almost shouts as Emmeline giggles with no care of her volume.
“Did you mistake me for Sirius?”
“No.”
“We are going out tonight,” Dorcas announces, ignoring the three of them starting to argue back and forth, and Regulus frowns in question. “Do you want to stay in your shared dorm with them two tonight?”
They have the decency to eat, not snog, but it’s not hard to notice that one hand is missing from the table and one of them is half-sitting on the other. Regulus completely forgot about their shared space and he is sure that Barty will forget the silencing spells just to annoy him.
“Alright.”
“Sirius, you too,” she says. “We’re going to a special place.”
“Tonight?”
“Yes.”
He groans out but nods. “I will need to sleep before that.”
Regulus studies him. “Are you alright?”
Sirius smiles at him and it’s annoying how the braid suits him even when he looks awful. “Of course.”
Regulus has many things he wants to say to him: like the mandrake leaf that he put last night after Sirius’ door never opened or asks whether he received a letter or not. What about his tattoos? He has seen them but Sirius never hinted that he has some. Emmeline apparently knew but not Regulus? He has the perfect right to be jealous.
The day flies too fast to do any of that and Sirius is nowhere to be seen at lunch. A lot of students stare at them, whispering, and he even catches the disgusted and furious look of Snape several times. It’s only because Sirius looked dreadfully tired or that Regulus might walk on something horrid if he goes back to his dorm that he finds himself at the Quidditch field.
He likes to play with the team, thanks to Barty and Dorcas, or his friends outside of anything formal but there is a different pleasure to be alone up in the air as the sun slowly dips in the horizon. He flies after the snitch once before relaxing with some stunts to stretch himself.
The only other stop he made was to the Owlery to send a letter to his parents with the usual hidden code meant for Kreacher. It’s not an obligation but perhaps the elf might help them by preparing some of their affairs so they don’t leave empty-handed. Plus Regulus wants to have a proper word with him, even if it might be a farewell. Kreacher won’t be happy and definitely confused at his sudden departure but there is no other way.
It’s a weird feeling to picture himself running away and perhaps never coming back home. There are more bad memories stocked there but it’s still a part of him. Regulus is surprised by the speed of all of this and he wonders what it means for Alphard. His initial reaction to Regulus’ letter where he told that Sirius and him have reconnected, never meant to be broken up again, and that they need to get out of there. Their uncle accepted their request with no amount of hesitation, despite the 10 years if not more without any contact, and even celebrating the news. It’s still a shock to Regulus but it’s probably a good sign; if Alphard happens to read between the lines that something else is brewing then they will figure that out later. Regulus won’t speak in Sirius’ name, except when he is an idiot hurling flowers down a toilet.
The petals are surprisingly tasteless compared to the mandrake leaf. It’s a risky challenge to keep it in his mouth when he regularly coughs but Regulus doesn’t want to wait. The easiest way to prepare this potion is at Hogwarts, he has his ways to brew it here whilst at Alphard’s the break will only last a week. They have a little more than a month so hopefully he manages to do everything before waiting for a storm. Sirius has given him tips on the mandrake leaf and told him he knows where to find the dew and a perfect spot for the moonlight. Still they haven’t talked a lot about it but the sticking charm for the mandrake leaf to not slip out is smart.
He lets the broken petals trickle down the drain of the shower. Pandora’s potion is effective but only temporary, enough to be at peace during classes. Compared to Sirius, his own Hanahaki appears to only happen at precise moments but stubbornly whilst just the thought of Lupin triggers a fit to his brother. Thankfully, it’s only petals which means that they can keep the bond. The curse is probably aware that it can’t feed from Regulus but can’t fight the nuptial bond which ensures its development in him too. It probably throws its energy at once, causing the sudden petals, but can’t stay regular enough to grow in Regulus.
It takes him a moment to recall where he is, water cascading down his shoulders and cleaning him off the adrenaline from his time on the broom, as he stares at the thin golden ring on his finger. Regulus has spotted Sirius looking at his own from time to time, even touching, and he is almost disappointed that he doesn’t feel it when it happens. Hopefully, his brother can still feel his love even if touching the rings means nothing.
Dorcas told them that they will eat together at the pub where they have been before. Sirius still doesn’t know where they are going but agreed without a fight. They must almost be ready to go. He better hurry back to the castle so they can sneak off without any trouble and he has come prepared with clean relaxed clothes to change here directly. Who knows the state of his dorm now that Barty and Evan were unleashed.
“Regulus.”
Winter is already creeping up to chase autumn away before it’s even its time. Dinner should have already been served. All that should have not made James Potter wait at the door of the locker room at the Quidditch’s pitch.
He is still in his school uniform and to an impossible degree his hair is even more rumpled with one side almost completely flattened. His presence here is obviously planned by the scarf on him, clearly not to play Quidditch, but it doesn’t explain how he knew where Regulus was. He would have definitely spotted him coming down to the pitch and he only flew down when the sun completely disappeared.
“What are you doing here?”
There is no mirth in his eyes but a careful and almost soft appeal as Potters’ lips move void of words before his eyebrows fall almost miserably.
“I need to talk to you… and we both know it’s hard to get privacy at Hogwarts, especially if one avoids the other.”
Regulus glares at him and starts to walk toward the castle but he is followed closely. He has noticed a few glances from Potter here and there but completely ignored them. There is no use for them to talk and he fears that he might be dazzled enough to lose his focus.
“We never had anything to talk to each other about and it hasn’t changed.”
“You’re not getting rid of me,” Potter says and even manages to walk ahead to look at him. “We do have common subjects: Sirius for a start.”
“Don’t talk about my brother,” he hisses, frustrated that his glare doesn’t surprise him. “I can curse you here and no one will find you before you're frozen to death.”
“I know you’re hiding him,” he exclaims and stops in front of him. “Don’t-” Regulus’ hand is grabbed before he can properly have a hold on his wand. “Please. Regulus, just hear me out for a moment.”
He tries to retrieve his hand but Potter’s easily covers his, surprisingly warm, but it only pushes him to try harder. Regulus’ gasp is thankfully swallowed down when it tightens but his mistake is meeting those earnest warm eyes; all the people who turn a blind eye to brown eyes are absolute fools but Regulus wishes he was one of them to stop his heart from beating like a newborn snitch.
“Why should I?” He whispers.
Potter stares at him, gaze travelling from his eyes to his lips before falling on their hands. He weakly squeezes it and Regulus tries to not swallow too loudly.
“Because I’m scared,” he answers, pushing up his glasses with his free hand. “I want to talk to Sirius but he avoided me all day.”
Regulus is a bit surprised but it’s stupid of him to assume that Sirius can fight off his guilt to accept any crumb of attention from his old friends.
“And rightfully so.”
Potter watches him and slowly pushes their hands down, taking a step closer and frightening Regulus’ skin like a kissing sting.
“It’s complicated. I’m not the only one in the story but never did we kick him out of the dorm.”
“You also didn’t try to tell him that, did you?” Regulus glares. “I don’t see how I should even consider you honest. You two have always acted like each other’s shadows and now suddenly you want me to believe that you didn’t notice how he disappeared?”
“I knew,” Potter argues with a scowl. “It’s jus-”
“Complicated?” He scoffs. “Same stupid excuse.”
“Look, I’m not exactly the one who Sirius hurt so I can’t decide for everyone.”
Regulus jerks his hand with no success and he considers crushing Potter’s foot. “How convincing. I simply don’t care though. If Sirius won’t speak to you then it’s your problem and not mine. Let me go before I cut your hand.”
Potter sighs, slowly letting go but he abruptly tightens his grip around his wrist. Regulus tries to step back but he is only dragged closer to his dismay.
“Reggie, please I need to talk to Sirius,” he begs.
“Don’t call me that!” Regulus shouts, hoping that the night shadows his sudden blush. “Let me go! I’m not going to do your dirty work!
“I know that you’re hiding him somewhere!” He argues and only keeps his hold on him even when Regulus tries to shove him away. “Which, and believe me, makes me really happy to see that you two are talking again considering how much he worries about y-”
Regulus throws his whole weight on him, finally shaking off Potter’s steady stance, but he is dragged down because his hand is still trapped. Potter is an imbecile because he catches him as if Regulus is the one who fell in the first place and his other hand falls on Regulus’ waist.
“Let me go!” He snaps as he quickly tries to stand up to run away. “What is wrong with you?!”
“Wha– you’re the one who pushed me!” Potter argues and grunts when Regulus starts choking him with his scarf. “Argh! Re-”
They are too close. He has easily felt the muscles straining Potter’s uniform, as if he even needed a reminder of their existence, but he isn’t going to be fooled any longer. His foot finally manages to find the ground underneath them and he stomps the first part he can feel.
Potter hisses in pain, taken by surprise by the look of it, as he lets go of Regulus with his head tilted against the grass with a pained grimace.
“I warned you,” he hisses and quickly stands up with a disgruntled huff. “Sombre crétin.”
He blinks up at him with his hands still on his ankle. “Wait, wait! Regulus for Merlin’s sake just listen to me!”
“No!” He snaps and quickly heads toward the castle, using a lumos to guide him.
“Tell Sirius I need to talk to him!” Potter shouts.
Regulus’ jaw tightens and he turns to spot where Potter is still laying on the ground, almost hidden because of the night. Their eyes meeting cheers him like a firework and Regulus is quickly reminded why he shouldn’t be anywhere near this– ridiculous fool.
“Stay away from us if it’s so complicated, you arse!”
“Don’t make me force you to listen, Regulus!”
He ignores that and storms into the castle before he can catch anything else. His hands anxiously work on his clothes, checking if they are clean, as he tries to keep his heart and mind under control before they are both thrown into a loop of feelings he simply can’t deal with for now.
Potter probably woke up from his nonsense because Sirius sat down with him and his friends - Slytherins. He doesn’t even have the guts to even talk to his brother himself and if Sirius is really avoiding the Marauders then good for him. It’s better like that. Far easier to deal with the Hanahaki too. Lupin doesn’t appear to care for his brother but if Sirius is thrown back into their group of friends then who knows how he will handle this. He doubts Potter will not force them to talk.
“Reggie, are you alright? I was coming to fetch you.”
Pandora walks up with a curious look, hair up in two cute buns, dressed with a long dark blue coat and wide pants with an abstract shirt. Regulus quickly joins her and grabs her elbow to turn them toward the Room of Requirement where she must have come from.
“Bloody Potter is pestering me about Sirius.”
“James? Isn’t that a good thing? Sirius loves him and you t-”
“Panda,” he cuts. “This is everything but positive. They were his friends who threw him out, haven’t they? Why should I help him talk to my brother when he has stolen him for years?”
She nods with a slight frown. “But if James is honest then I don’t think you can stop him from trying to be friends with Sirius again.”
Regulus sighs but he certainly won’t say that he will fight as hard as he can. It’s Sirius’ life in play. Moving on from Lupin is an option but it’s a crazy solution as he sincerely doubts it might even happen at this point. They can’t exactly throw their chances away though so Regulus would rather have a list of crazy cures than none.
They walk in the Room to notice Emmeline sitting in front of Sirius on his bed, frowning as she slowly applies makeup on him, wearing an embroidered pink shirt with a brown skirt and dark tights while Dorcas appears to try on a large-sized jean vest above her short top and purple jeans. Sirius turns to greet them but frowns.
“You alright Reggie?”
“I’m fine.”
“Hum, no you’re not,” Dorcas says, frowning at him from the large mirror. “Not dressed like that. I told you that we are celebrating, didn’t we?”
“How are we celebrating when the couple isn’t even invited?”
“Because they are a menace.”
“And it gives us a second reason to party with them,” Emmeline points out. “I think I'm done, Sirius but I'm not sure if I did a good job. I'm not trained for makeup.”
“Barty told me he is going to serenade Evan,” Pandora whispers in his ear.
Regulus grimaces at the idea of walking on that. Plus he doubts either of them want to be apart when they finally get together. At least they give them some alone time for now.
“I will let you borrow something of mine,” Sirius says and walks to his closet. “Even if I still don’t know where we are going!”
“I’m not ruining the surprise. But you will love it,” Dorcas promises.
“I’m not changing.”
Even if Sirius doesn’t know that they are going to slip in a pub full of music and people, he seems quite ready for that. He wears tight black pants with a few patches of different tissues and a loose sleeveless shirt with some drawing he can’t recognize with a ‘BOWIE’ red and blue crossed by a lightning bolt. Just like the girls he wears make-up and the pale pink small heart at the corner of an eye must be from Pandora’s. His hair is now free, also from the snakes, and more wavy than usual thanks to the braid.
“I can borrow this? You’re sure?” Dorcas asks, putting some of her long braided hair on the front of the vest.
“As long as you don’t spill anything on it,” Sirius says and walks up to Regulus with his leather jacket. “Put that on and– well your hair is alright, did you fly? They are nicely tossed.”
“What?” He startles when the jacket is pushed in his arms. “You want me to wear it?”
It’s hard to not think of Sirius Black without his leather jacket; he probably wears it more than underwear and likes to strut around to show it off ever since he got it in his third year. Regulus can’t remember if he ever saw anyone else wearing it. By Emmeline’s look, probably not.
“It will keep you warm,” he reassures as if he didn’t drop a bomb in Regulus’ hands and he comes back with a pen. “Let me just put a little bit of that.”
Regulus lets him grab his face and quickly closes his eyes when he realises what’s happening.
“Do we go to the usual spot?” Emmeline asks.
“Relax, I’m not stabbing you,” Sirius whispers and snorts when Regulus scrunches up his nose at the unusual feeling on his eyelids.
“Yup. I’ve got a bit of money,” Dorcas confirms.
“Let’s go!” Pandora cheers.
Sirius leads them once Dorcas explains to him that her portkey is hidden in one of the trees bordering the Forbidden Forest. It does seem like he knows the castle flawlessly because they take two hidden passages that they had no idea of.
Dorcas climbs up a tree at the border of the Forbidden Forest and sticks her hand in one of the tree’s nooks. She retrieves her two portkeys and jumps down. They have casted warming charms on them but Regulus had to admit that Sirius’ leather jacket keeps him quite safe from the cold which sleeves are just a tad longer like he enjoys them.
“Portkeys?” Sirius asks, wearing a loose coat. “I thought we would go to Hogsmead or something.”
“That would be far too easy,” Dorcas says with a chuckle and offers the handkerchief for them all to take a hold of it. “We are going to have fun without any risk of anyone following us.”
Before he can ask anything else, they are teleported by the handkerchief. The first time they took the trip, it had been more than weird. It had only been last year when Dorcas offered to bring them somewhere to party; at first they were confused at the offer but it quickly became a small habit to go to this young pub in London. Regulus mostly watches with Emmeline, sometimes Evan, whilst the rest of them danced and sang to Muggle songs they have not one idea about.
“Are we– no way,” Sirius blurts out when he takes a peek out of the empty, sad and smelly, alley to face the Kelpie’s Dance, already full of life. “Are we in the Muggle world? How?”
“Surprised?” Dorcas grins as Emmeline takes out her wand and casts a minor metamorphosis charm on the posing Pandora. “Thought the Marauders were the coolest, huh?”
Sirius laughs and shakes his head. “Is that the surprise? A muggle pub?”
Regulus nods. “We only need to appear older so they let us pass but Em’ is great at that.”
He watches her cast the spell on Dorcas before nodding and crossing his arms. “Alright, fine by me. It’s not my first time though. We went to one for Mary’s birthday last year.”
“But this time it’s with us,” Pandora says with a smile, looking taller but still with her baby cheeks.
“Right, you’re right,” he chuckles and watches Emmeline cast it on Regulus. “How do we come back though? The other portkey? How did you even get them?”
“Gifts from my mum,” Dorcas answers. “One for getting out and the other to come back to Hogwarts. The Forbidden Forest’s border is the last place to apparate without alerting the castle. My dad is worried about that, maybe because he’s a muggle, but it’s not like we are going to drink more than glass. Better not risk that if we apparate.”
“Damn, Marlene would have loved to come.”
Dorcas’ confidence flatters a second before she brushes her hair behind her shoulder. “Of course she would. I have great taste.”
“Your turn Sirius.”
Sirius sends a quick amused look to Regulus. His only request is for Emmeline to get him a moustache, saying that it will be sexy, even if Regulus finds him completely ridiculous.
They pass the doors of the Kelpie’s Dance without a hitch and the guard even greets Dorcas like a regular. The music is not too loud to Regulus’ relief but enough to disrupt his thoughts from gravitating around James Potter’s. Seeing Sirius excited and enjoying his time, seemingly healthier than this morning, also helps with that.
As usual, they only take one drink each to stay on the safe side for apparating home. It’s not like they drink a lot in the first place even back at Hogwarts. Sirius can’t decide on one drink among the long choice so Emmeline tries to guide him as Pandora and Dorcas are already off trying to find a table. Regulus is carrying the plate of snacks, cheese, chips and dips.
“From now on, I will have to be careful in any room I come in but at least,” Dorcas says, amber drink raised, with a solemn look once they sit down. “Barty will stop sighing in my ears about ‘how I wish I could pamper Evan’s hair!’”
Emmeline laughs and joins her tone, glass of shades of warm orange. “And ‘you can’t imagine how I need to hold back whenever Barty comes up with the most insane yet intelligent idea!’”
Regulus raises his dark red, purple even, glass after swallowing his chip. “No more angry tantrums when one looks the other way or whining before they attack each other in some weird courting.”
“I can stop brewing Amortentia!” Pandora cheers. “No more ambushes into rooms together or spiking their drinks!”
Sirius bursts out laughing. Dorcas spits out and wheezes as Regulus turns to her.
“You what?!”
“That was you?!” Emmeline gasps. “I thought they were insane! Barty kept complaining that the castle was trying to trap him and Evan was sick every now and then out of nowhere!”
Pandora nods wisely before sighing. “I will actually miss that now.”
“You drugged your own brother?”
“Fairly easily too.”
Sirius hasn’t stopped laughing despite how breathless he sounds and how his eyes are brimming with tears.
Just as Regulus expected: Sirius fits right in beside the dancing people screaming at the tops of their lungs the lyrics of some Muggle music. Dorcas is right beside him, hair swishing, as she twirls with Sirius, pulling or dragging the other. Pandora quickly hurries to their side, coming back from the loo, and catches on the rhythm before she even reaches them.
Emmeline is at Regulus’ side, more comfortable sitting and eating, but she bobs her head to the music and comments about them. Both of them know how to dance but neither are comfortable around such a crowd. Although he does enjoy one song from a band called ‘Queen’, Dorcas has gifted him some of their records and promised to give him what he needs to listen to them. Maybe he can do that once they are out of the house.
Sirius does force him on the dancefloor with him though, cheeks still smiling and red from the excitement but he hasn’t coughed at all during the night. The leather jacket on his shoulders also softens him enough to amuse him. He stays at his side and pokes him until Regulus properly dances, ‘as silly as a duck’ Sirius says, while managing to glare at his brother without blinking.
Regulus wonders if they would have ever reached this point. Whether he would have pictured running away, disregarding all his responsibilities, if not for Sirius dying. He would have never forgotten about his brother but they would have never managed to cross the bridge especially with the war looming over them. There are so many ways that life can go but Regulus wants this one; forever and ever.
Without Dorcas or Pandora, literally falling on him when she tried to use a broom the first time back in first year, Regulus fears that he would have never realised how his family’s politics are anything but good. He feels utterly stupid that he had believed at some point in his life that he was better than all these people in this pub; superior to his rebellious brother.
There is nothing greater than seeing his brother breathless– frozen, completely rocked by the crowd with a terrified face?
“Sirius?” Regulus frowns at his reaction and looks where his bloodshot eyes are stuck.
There is nothing but their friends who stare back curiously upon Sirius’ reaction. He is staring at something further in the back though but it’s only the wall.
“Sirius!” Emmeline gasps and rushes toward them.
Regulus barely has the time to catch the direction where Sirius fled like an erumpent. Some people complain loudly but Dorcas only pushes them again another time so they can rush after him. A small crowd runs out of the bathroom, complaining about someone sick in there. The retching almost has the strength to cover the music in the bathroom and Regulus finds his feet stuck at the cubicle toilet’s door.
Sirius has his head in the toilet with his back disturbed by every noise that comes out of him. Emmeline immediately steps in to tuck his hair back with a panicked look at the rest of them while Pandora grabs Regulus’ hand.
“This is bad,” Dorcas croaks out.
Flowers fall around the toilet, clearly overflowing, and Regulus shakes himself off when Sirius starts choking.
“We need to pull them out.”
“Let me do it,” Pandora says, pushing his wand down. “You are shaking Reggie.”
Emmeline helps her although he can’t really recall what they are doing. Dorcas holds him back when he keeps swaying on his feet, squeezing his hands, as their words become a rushed buzz. Sirius is turned with his mouth full of moonflowers and wolfbanes and his eyes full of tears.
They somehow manage to fit in this small cubicle despite the flowers covering the floor. Regulus is guided to sit down but he still can’t move and watches the rapid wands gesturing around his helpless brother’s face torn apart by more and more stems, leaves and petals. A large clump made of hideous bouquets finally gets out with a slick spell.
The leather smell doesn’t cover the stink of blood and these cursed flowers. Sirius looks dead and Regulus feels like it. His eyes spill more pain and he digs his fingers in his eyes with a shaky breath, exhaling blood on his lips.
“I’m sorry,” he croaks out. “I’m so sorry, please Moony-”
“Moony?”
“That’s his pet name for Lupin,” Dorcas whispers.
“Please, please, please,” Sirius sobs, curling up on himself as he wheezes his lament. “Don’t be mad at me, I’m so sorry.”
His whole body is shaking, jerking with sudden strength before it falls flat, and his violent coughing restarts.
“What colour is his tongue?”
“What?”
“I need to see it!” Pandora grabs Sirius’ jaw and grabs his tongue after the path is cleared from a garland of flowers that Emmeline tugs out.
“What is it?” She asks when Pandora holds his tongue with two shaky fingers.
Sirius doesn’t fight it, barely moving. Regulus tries to reach out but his knees are wobbly and the floor is wet with flowers.
“It’s blue,” she articulates with wide eyes and a pale face. “He isn’t breathing and is hallucinating.”
“He is seeing Lupin,” Dorcas realises. “How is that possible? He only started coughing just now!”
“The flowers!” Emmeline shouts. “Wolfsbane and moonflower are poisonous!”
“My potion!” Pandora gasps, panicking. “He didn’t cough them out so they must have-”
“Panda, breathe,” Emmeline cuts. “We need an antidote so we need to apparate right away. A basic one should work.”
“Regulus,” Dorcas calls, shaking him and forcing him up on his feet. “We need to get out of here now. Apparating here would be too dangerous and people are trying to get in the toilet.”
He manages to stay on his feet outside of the toilet cubicle where Dorcas and Emmeline grab on Sirius as Pandora cleans it with a spell.
“Moony forgive me, please,” Sirius painfully articulates as petals climb to his lips. “I didn’t mean to do that, I love yo-”
“Dormitum,” Pandora whispers with her wand brushing Sirius’ cheek who falls slack in their friends’ arms. “It will be safer that way…”
Dorcas nods and adjusts him against her. “Let me deal with what we say to the Muggles.”
The music comes back like a merciless wave and Regulus never knew how to swim. It stinks of blood. He wants to go back to Sirius smiling but his eyes can only see the death in his grey eyes. There are many voices that finally leave them once the cold bites them. Regulus wants to bury his face in Padfoot’s fur like he did but he sees the cute cat he made the mistake to bring home, who ended up bleeding and crushed before he received a slap from his mother for bringing a wasteful parasite in their home. Regulus opens his eyes when he smells the leather and hears a fire cracking. Before he can stand up, he is softly pushed down and a hand goes through his hair before scratching where he likes.
“It’s alright Reggie,” Pandora whispers. “Sirius is fine, sleeping. We’re back at Hogwarts.”
She smiles at him and he quickly glances to his left to spot Sirius peacefully sleeping. This time she lets him sit up and her hand returns to the notebook perched on her thigh. They are in the Room of Requirement with no mistake: Dorcas and Emmeline are both sleeping nearby on their own beds and one is free but Pandora stays in her seat at their bed’s side.
“What happened?”
“We gave Sirius the antidote once we came back here,” she explains with a soft voice. “He hasn’t woken up but he is fine, checked his eyes and tongue.”
“The-”
“It’s my potion’s fault,” she interrupts and smiles sadly at his surprise. “It holds back the petals and flowers from trying to get out but they are still alive. His magic must have tried to eliminate them but the poison– it was probably too much.”
“He hallucinated Lupin?” Regulus shakes, finally getting a grasp on his limbs, and he digs his nails into his palm. “We can’t stop him from coughing completely because these blasted flowers are poisonous.”
Pandora nods and quietly sighs. “I will try to brew another potion. If Sirius doesn’t cough them out regularly then it will probably happen again… I’m sorry I didn’t think of that.”
“I knew the flowers,” he argues and rubs his face. “And I didn’t move! Barely-”
“You were in shock Reggie, it’s alright. Sirius is alive too. It’s a normal r-”
“It’s not,” he hisses. “It’s not. I should have done something. I could have– I knew but I didn’t think they would be poisonous in this case.”
“We were all more worried that they would choke him,” Pandora confirms and squeezes his hand. “But we know better now. That’s why you need to rest Reggie because I will need your help for the potion tomorrow. Please rest.”
“But-”
“Sleep Reggie. Sirius won’t be happy tomorrow if you’re exhausted,” she insists and pushes him down, smiling softly. “I will watch over. I promise.”
Pandora is a sly witch because she perfectly knows what spot of hair she needs to scratch, completely relaxing. Regulus has no strength to fight it and he closes his eyes after grabbing Sirius’ hand in his. The next day is more than awkward. Somehow Regulus overslept, only finding his footing after recognizing too many voices around him, and he finds everyone sitting around a table with a copious breakfast.
“Good morning to you lazy bum,” Barty greets.
“Shut up,” Sirius replies, turning to look at Regulus. “You slept like the dead Reggie.”
“Sirius?”
His brother looks as fine as he was yesterday: thinner, paler, worn-out than usual with vibrant eye bags. A soft smile is on his face but it’s fragile.
“The food is warm and delicious,” Dorcas says. “Hurry up.”
“I saved you some coffee,” Sirius adds.
They don’t talk outside from commenting on the food and Regulus doesn’t think he can break this moody peace. Pandora slips outside as soon as her tea is done, whispering in his ear that they will start brewing this afternoon, and the rest of their friends follow soon after. Evan and Barty are thankfully staying chaste albeit a small complaint about a party without them; that they could have moved their own party to the Kelpie’s Dance. Regulus opts to ignore the picture he gets from that.
Sirius stays quiet, playing with his cup, knees up against his chest because he can’t sit normally. Regulus breathes out and swallows his last bite.
“Did the room bring all that?”
“No. I woke up when they were preparing it. Evan and Pandora brought everything.”
He nods before turning to him but Sirius avoids his eyes. “Sirius.”
“Hum?”
“Are you alright?”
His brother coughs wetly and puts a hand over his lips but it doesn’t stop his spewing. Regulus immediately stands up to get closer except that Sirius walks away with a shake of his head and signs with his other hand.
“Wait,” he croaks out and shuffles to the toilet.
His breath is shaky. He tries to focus on that but his hands are aching to be useful so he piles up the empty dishes on the table even if it’s useless considering how the Room works. Thankfully Sirius quickly returns, wiping his lips with his hands. Regulus wants to hug him but he stays put.
“Do you remember?” He weakly whispers.
Sirius looks after before nodding with an empty smile. “I saw him… In the back.”
“You don’t have to talk about it,” Regulus quickly says, stepping closer with a cold sweat that forbids him to truly reach out.
“Remus looked at me exactly the way he did last time we talked,” he whispers. “At first I felt it but I thought– I was imagining it. He wouldn’t put his eyes on me anymore.”
“That’s what caused the flowers.”
Sirius coughs and hisses, taking out the flower from his lips to throw it on the ground. “I’m sorry I ruined your night.”
“You didn’t-”
“That’s what your friends said,” he chuckles, voice worn out and void of emotions. “But still, I’m sorry.”
“I thought you were going to die,” Regulus gasps out.
Sirius blinks at him. His lips wobble as he reaches out with wide arms, tears falling from his eyelashes. “Don’t cry Reggie.”
“I’m not crying,” he sobs out, hugging his brother. “You are.”
“Yes,” he chuckles and sniffs. “I am because you are.”
Regulus almost falls asleep, standing in Sirius’ arms still with his clothes and sweat from their outing.
“You can’t die.”
“Reg-”
“You can’t,” Regulus orders. “Because I-I will die too Sirius, with you,” he sobs out. “You can’t leave me alone. Not when I have a mandrake leaf in my mouth because you need to help me or else I will shave your head.”
Sirius hardly laughs but he still tries through his increasing sobs, swaying them together even if it’s clumsy because they step on each other’s feet. He kisses the top of Regulus’ head, needing to pull him down a bit because their height isn’t that different, and rubs his back with a hand.
“Heard you loud and clear,” he says and a smile almost echoes from it.
Regulus buries his face in his neck, restraining himself from squeezing because his brother is already sick and damaged enough.
“Thank you.”
Sirius only shushes him before cuddling him aggressively. “You’re a soft little bastard, did you know that?”
“Why does it sound like a compliment and an insult at the same time?” Regulus huffs out, wiping his nose.
He is surprised when hands settle on his cheeks and he is brought to be face to face with Sirius who has a wide smile.
“I love you so much Reggie. You’re the only thing good that came out from our blasted parents, you know that?”
“Si-”
“I want you to remember that. You hear me, you wicked genius?” Sirius insists, eyes brewing with a tender love, leaving Regulus weak and his throat feeble. “When were you going to tell me we are running away to Alphard?”
“He… He wrote to you?”
“Yes, told me how you reached out and basically that he is planning everything for us. Also slipped his pocket watch in there that will be a portkey for us.”
Regulus looks at him. “And..? What do you think of it?”
“I was surprised and we haven’t seen him for ten years at least since they stopped inviting him to any family gathering,” Sirius muses and tries to put his chin on his head but he is shaken off. “But he was the best uncle we ever had, probably why no one in our deranged family likes him but we also have no idea how he-”
“Just say yes or no for once.”
“I’m all for it, of course! I would have never thought of it to be honest.”
“One of us needs to use his brain,” he drawls out and grunts when the hug shifts to a sideway one.
“What would I do without you, hum?” Sirius asks, pinching his cheek until he slaps his hand away. “You know we should plan what to do.”
“At Alphard’s?”
Regulus frowns lightly and watches his brother walk to his discarded bag at the foot of the bed to take out a piece of parchment. He joins him curiously as a quill and a pot of ink is put down on the bed.
“I thought about what Pandora said.”
A small line is traced in the middle, near the top, of it and Sirius writes his name above it but quickly writes after a second of hesitation ‘Résurrection de’ before it.
“Are you making a bucket list?”
“No. The opposite. It’s literally written Sirius’ resurrection.”
“Necromancy?”
“Now I wouldn’t ask that from you,” he says with a roll of his eyes. “The bucket list is in case I die, right? But if you don’t want me to die then we need another one.”
Regulus swallows and shuffles closer. “A list… of things to do if you live?”
Sirius grins. “Am I not a genius? But resurrection is a much cooler name than ‘in the case Sirius lives or whatnot’.”
“I don’t really see the difference,” he says as he sits down at his side. “But why not. What are you writing there?”
An uninvited lull slips in and he frowns curiously at Sirius who is staring right back at him.
“You know you don’t have to do it,” he says.
“Do what?”
“What I like to do or what I usually do,” Sirius explains. “Like last night, I put some makeup on you, my leather jacket and you even danced.”
“You didn’t force him into anything, trust me.” Regulus lets himself fall against his brother, biting on a smile as he adjusts his head to still have a clear view on the parchment. “Now, what are you putting on your list?”
“They will probably have the same ideas but that doesn’t matter– first item is sixteen years worth of sleepovers. Second is hugs.”
Regulus snorts. “Hugs?”
“Don’t you laugh because Pandora promised me to kick your ass if you don’t give me hugs.”
“Oh my soul shakes in fear.”
Sirius elbows him with a smile. “You can’t disrespect the list’s wishes! Help me fill it or I'll sic Pandora on you.”
“Fine. Put on your list: ‘get his ass kicked by my funnier brother’.”
“We have another one?”
They spend the day but also the whole week-end together before even noticing it. Regulus isn’t sure if his friends are letting them alone on purpose or are just busy; even completely forgetting that Pandora planned to brew this afternoon. He gets lost in their words as Sirius and him recall the few memories they have of Alphard or speculate on what Regulus will be as an animagus. His brother mostly shares his own experience and is cautious about it even though it’s easy to understand that the rest of the Marauders probably are too– ‘Padfoot’ is an obvious give away and they all have some sort of nicknames. Except that he holds his promise and tries to not think more than necessary as Sirius asked. His brother is convinced that Regulus will be a hedgehog because he is apparently a sweet but prickly and biting snare. Whatever he is will probably look more proper than the Grim appearance Padfoot has.
Regulus asks him about his tattoos and Sirius seems to have almost forgotten them because he is used to everyone knowing about them. Most are alchemical symbols and even norse runes, which surprises Regulus but Sirius only wants to tell why he picked them if he spills about ‘your little crush that made you queer’ which will only be out over Regulus’ dead body. At least, he shows him a notebook full of sketches - which shouldn’t surprise him as Sirius loved to draw since he could hold a quill - and Regulus wonders if a tattoo would fit him but he keeps that thought to himself.
As predicted, Sirius stays away from the Great Hall and barely appears to attend classes since he is always in the Room. Regulus can’t help but think that it’s related to Potter. Dorcas has mentioned to him on Monday that it seems most of Sirius’ friends are meaningfully staring at him or trying to talk, thankfully she always gives him a distraction since his brother doesn’t appear up to the task. Potter also appears to have understood Regulus and leaves him alone. It’s a bit bittersweet but he has enough resentment to push any positive thoughts away.

Marauders Midnights, Log 1: The Potters
Sirius never wearing 'black' on his jerseys in quidditch because he didn't want any of his wins to be associated with them, that he was doing it for the blacks.
Sirius stealing James' jerseys throughout their quidditch games so that they'd both fly with the Potter name.
Seeker!sirius facing off Regulus who still bears the Black name on his back, weighing him down.
Sirius flying lighter and faster in front of Regulus so he's stuck staring at 'Potter' on his brother's back instead of their own last name.
Remus wearing potter on his back, but for Sirius too and not James
Remus and Lily laughing over their boys as 'Potter' is on their backs.
Peter, who always wore Potter on his back from the very second James got onto the team in second year, feeling James slipping away from him as more adore James.
Sirius being known as 'Potter' throughout his classes, not responding to 'Mr. Black' but only "Mr. Potter".
Sirius and James making twin cameos, "did you mean me or him?", in all of their classes, as Minnie slowly loses her sanity.
the Marauders + Valkyries being referred to as the potter clan/family (Regulus likes to think himself apart of this family, James assures him he is even as they are far apart)
Older Gryffindors saying 'here comes potter' when any of them come through the portrait door.
Marlene boasting that she was James' first recruit, 'always allowed there i was', 'i was the original', 'i came for Jamie stayed for his mum'.
Peter wishing he was loud enough to shout down hallways that actually he was the first potter, married and sworn in, with paper rings of their childhood.
James being flustered anytime anyone refers to themselves with his last name, fondness for his friends flowing through, the love that he carries in his heart not feeling like a burden anymore.
James noticing peter shy away from using Potter, even though he remembers a smaller peter saying his initials stood for "Peter Potter" not Peter Pettigrew.
James knowing the longing peter feels coursing through as everyone laughs over their strong bond.
James thinking that his heart is still a burden.
Peter rectifying this immediately, becoming louder by the nanosecond that he's a Potter.
Sirius saying that he was James' brother first jokingly.
Peter saying they're more than that without a hint of humour on his tongue and a curve to his lips that makes James want to k-
James thinking his heart is definitely a good thing.
They're all potters. In a way, it's a joining name, a unifying mark, and they chose their glue for their name. Even after Hogwarts, Sirius is still a potter, until he becomes a Lupin.
Yet he never does get to take that step. SIRIUS BLACK -the first time he's heard Black with his name in forever- is printed black and white on newspapers, killer of James and Lily Potter, it writes. Black killed the potters. Sirius believes that too. he killed the potter within him when he let his James and Lily die.
There's only one potter posters say, the undesirable Harry Potter. Mary potter lives in her hollow wishing she could remember why that's not quite right.

Note
for the character thingy, regulus!!
Hi!!! Thank you!!! ♥️
How I feel about this character:
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t actually dislike Regulus: I just need him to be written exactly the way I imagine him 😅
He’s a very interesting character to me. He’s not good, you know? He’s intensely morally grey and got cut down before he got the chance to truly grow or develop as a person (…character). He could’ve helped Dumbledore put the pieces together sooner in regards to the horcruxes. He’s a (dangerous) bigot obsessed with a radical terrorist political figure, but his big brother calls him “soft” and an “idiot”. He played the position of seeker. He painted the family’s house crest on his bedroom wall and stuck newspaper clippings about muggle murders and wizardly terrorists attacks on the other. It paints the picture of a teenage boy who slid down the far-right rabbit hole, is now dangerous, is now violent and hateful—but still a teenage boy at his core.
He’s funny too, in that way you sort of… laugh at schadenfreude. He wrote Voldemort a snarky note about how he knew about Voldemort’s dirty little secret and that he was going down, and then Voldemort didn’t notice or care. His death is one of the first to prompt a whole range of deaths in the Black family, almost like he accidentally prompted the fall and rot of the family. And also (as mentioned), he basically had a fancam twitter account of Lord fucking Voldemort. Then deemed him problematic (“he literally basically broke my mop AND dutch oven omg”) and tried to cancel him, before dying in the process. It’s almost hilarious.
For fics, I like it when he survives and ends up kidnapping Harry after lying low until the end of the war; I like it when he’s the grumpy ex-DE Astronomy teacher tasked with keeping an eye on his brother’s godson; and I like it when he follows Sirius and gets sorted into a different house than Slytherin, be it Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff. In a No Voldemort-AU, I like him as the snarky, dreadfully annoying, very embarrassing little brother who just sort of shows up all the time whenever Sirius and his mates hang out.
Who I ship romantically with this character:
Nobody! I HC him as aroace.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Barty Jr, I suppose! I like to think Barty was a Ravenclaw, but the ages seem to fit (as well as the near fanatical devotion). Possibly study-buddies while Regulus mainly moved in the same little gang of aspiring Death Eaters that Snape was a part of.
I do love his (destructive, hateful yet loving) relationship with Sirius, though. Both when it’s positive and when it’s negative.
My unpopular opinion for this character:
I think he wasn’t pushed into becoming a Death Eater by his parents. They had a (strong) hand in his radicalisation, but they didn’t encourage him to become one. Regulus and Bella were outliers: until Voldemort and his followers became too violent, the vast majority of them only wished to be political backing. Not followers… just like-minded fellows, if you will. Regulus’ idolisation of Voldemort and his subsequent loyalty to the cause were at most encouraged by Bellatrix and perhaps Lucius, and likely also by some friends at school, but he went into it on his own. He didn’t genuinely realise something about Voldemort was off (as in, Voldemort didn’t care about anything but himself) until he had to nurse Kreacher back to health—and it was more about the destruction of and lack of care about Regulus’ property he’d let Voldemort borrow in good faith, rather than a light-bulb moment about his ingrained bigotry. Had he lived, he would’ve been murdered before the end of the first war, or he would’ve been on the Lucius Malfoy-side of Wizengamot.
I also think he wasn’t the favourite son. The favoured son, yes, but not the favourite. Regardless, I believe he was loved still: Walburga going mad in self-imposed isolation, having turned childless; Orion loving him enough to either destroy himself after Regulus’ death or to get killed trying to figure out what happened; and Sirius growing dangerously desperate in his attempts to connect the pieces of any information he can find.
Something something the hunter (dog or man) finding the hide of the predator they respected beyond measure, and ruthlessly/recklessly taking on the poaching gang that kills for profit alone.
One thing I wish had happened with this character in canon:
Literally any more scenes of him other than the note, Sirius’ (biased and traumatised) perspective, and Kreacher’s (biased and traumatised) perspective. A portrait even, of a snarky, arrogant, bigoted boy who sneers at his brother for looking like their father, who refuses to speak to Hermione for being a muggleborn, who turns his nose up to the Weasleys for being blood-traitors, who seemingly tries his best to ignore Harry but keeps watching him when he thinks Harry isn’t paying attention. Or memories: how he was at Hogwarts and how he was at home, whether he was mean or kind, a foul-mouthed git or a shy opportunist. That would’ve been neat.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quidditch was always your favorite time of the year. Not just because you loved to hear the crowd cheer your name when you caught the snitch but because you also loved playing with the Gryffindors.
As a Slytherin, most of the team hated playing Gryffindor. You never minded, though.
Sometimes you wonder why. You blew it off as you liked the challenge. The Gryffindors were a good team, a great team, even, but you were better. Slytherin won nearly all games with Gryffindor since you've been on the team, which was 2 years now. There was one game left in the season and out of the games played with Gryffindor, Slytherin house won 3 to 0.
Sometimes in the dead of night, though, you thought of one particular Gryffindor chaser. You forget his first name but played with his brother, Black. Regulus was cold and distant. His brother seemed so different.
When the long-haired Gryffindor won a point, he’d fly to his friends and celebrate. At the end of the game, he’d jump and dance and sing in the green grass. The Black brother seemed so funny, so care-free. It made you want to enjoy the game even more.
The boy had a tattoo, something you couldn't even imagine Regulus getting. You sometimes saw the dark ink on his tan skin when his shirt lifted up while playing.
Part of you liked seeing someone so happy. You have to remind yourself he’s your opponent, a lot, though.
He wouldn’t care if you were happy.
Speaking of Quidditch, you turned to the calendar beside your desk. A date was circled- Feburary 24th; Your last game with Gryffindor. You never circled the dates for any other house games, only the ones versus Gryffindor. You didn't notice you do this and , so, you didn't care.
---------------------------------------------------------
You awake a week and a half later on February 24th, the last game of the year. Your fellow Slytherins weren’t taking this game so seriously. You’d all already won every game with Gryffindor this season, what was to worry about?
You could taste the Quidditch Cup already- The only game you lost this year was with Hufflepuff.
On the field, ready to start the game, you tighten your grip on your broom. You see the Black brothers eyeing each other with dirty looks. The long haired brother that you don’t know looks… handsome. You’ve never seen him look so mad… so determined.
Before you know it, you hear the whistle, signifying the start. You take the image of him out of your mind and fly upward as high as you can, looking for the snitch.
A few minutes into the game, you spot it, glistening in the little sunlight February has to offer.
Before you know it- the Gryffindor seeker sees it, too. You fly towards it- fast.
You feel the wind whip your face as you zoom through the clouds, through the air, through the… snow?
It’s snowing, coming down fast and out of nowhere. The flakes are hard, almost hail-like. They pelt you on your broom and you feel your stomach jump.
You’re coming close, though- You’re going to beat her to it.
Just a little closer.
But, suddenly she zipped past you, catching the snitch.
Your heart skipped a beat.
You’ve lost the game.
Your broom automatically took you down, down, down, until you're startled by the ground hitting your feet.
You felt like you might puke.
Beside you, the Gryffindor boy zips down, tumbling to the Earth. He somersaults, excitedly.
The weather clears up, immediately.
“James! We fucking won!” He says to the bespectacled boy next to him.
They jump, excitedly, patting each others backs, roughly.
You smile a sad smile and turn to the locker room, directly.
The only thing you want to do right now is take a shower and climb in bed.
Nobody stops you or speaks to you; your teammates simply give you pitiful and hateful looks as you drag your broom behind you, across the field, and into the locker room.
—
After a long, hot shower, you leave the locker room started to Slytherin common room. However, you decide you’d like to walk around the lake before you head inside.
Whilst you walk, you hear a voice. And then another. It’s two boys.
You attempt to finish your walk around the lake but are taken aback when you see the source, laying in the grass near the lake.
As you approach, you see it’s the handsome Gryffindor chaser, Black, and the boy he called “James” at the game. They are still in their uniforms and there was a tall, glass bottle sitting near them.
You try to tiptoe quietly as not to disturb them but they hear you rustling the tall, brown grass.
“What was that…?” You hear James ask his friend. They look around wildly and spot you.
“Hey, look who it is! You’ve finally lost a game, haven't you? How’s it feel?” The nameless boy says to you. He smiled like it’s a joke but there is a bitter undertone lingering in the air.
“Feels shitty, you’d know, though, right? Haven't you lost every game against us this season?” you say.
“Man, Fuck you. Ever heard of a joke?” He says back.
“I can’t make one back?” you ask him.
The long-haired boy smirks, “yeah, make your joke…” he comes closer to you, “just know that even if you win the Quidditch Cup you’re no better a player than me.”
He’s facing you now, and, although you do admit he’s handsome, you’ve just realized what a dick he is. You see the angry lines in his face as he approaches you even closer.
“Don’t have anything to say to that?” He questions, smugly.
You’ve never been one to pick a fight. You could argue all day who’s a better player. But it’d really be no use. The boy will believe what he wants.
So, you say, “not really” with a shrug.
This seems to make him even more mad.
“We don’t need to argue, I know you know the truth already.” He says with a toothy smile. Very infuriating, very sexy. You imagine him on his knees, looking up at you smiling like that. You’d wipe that smug expression of his face, fast.
Your cock twitches at the thought of him between your thighs.
“Whats your name, anyway?” You ask.
“Sirius Black. I know your name, already, you’re Y/N”
Your cock jumps again at the smooth way he says your name. He says it so cold-like.
There’s a silence for a moment.
“If you’re done, I’ll be leaving now. Good night and enjoy your win.” You say, spitefully.
Sirius and James looked at you as you walked into the darkness and into the Hogwarts entrance.

When I wrote this I didn't realize Reg is actually the seeker for Slytherin team at this time. Sorry for the inaccuracy

Is it weird to say I'm attracted to slytherin sirius like he's a gryffindor at heart but for some reason he didn't want to leave regulus in that house alone so he decided to just "yuck screw this there's no way I'll let my babie brother suffer from those blood purists and mad cousins".
So anyway, here is my slytherin sirius au. It's built solely on my delusion and my love for black brothers being besties (sirius is still a menace to reg bc that's older sibling behavior)
Sirius became a slytherin but not by slytherin standard, he drove slughorn insane with his pranks and detentions every now and then. Anyway, sirius didn't like snape at first but after being his roommate for 2 weeks he decided he had had enough. In his opinion, snape was downright ugly, the greasy hair to the oily face, also his sitting posture would break his spine before 20, so to not hurt his eyes from the sore image, sirius offered that he would try his best to make snape look decent. "who asked?"
"me, now off to the bathroom, we have a lot to do."
By somehow they managed to get on good terms, but still they are not really that friendly. Sirius continued to prank james and other houses bc he was bored and simply "dang this potter dude has a lot of tricks up his sleeves!". Soon second year came and regulus entered slytherin house. And sirius was like "thank god I'm so lonely here you don't know who I have to put up with" while pointing at snape.
"I didn't ask you to take care of my appearance, it is what it is and none of your concern!"
"ew who's this? Is it the guy you wrote about? Also why is your hair like that?"
"Your brother is even worse than you, what did I even expect?"
Idk it seems funny to me sirius only had reg as his only/best friend in slytherin and snape tagged along somewhere during second year and they became a weird group (solely bc sirius wanted snape to look decent "I cannot accept a roommate that looks like a smelly old bat" and reg was amused by that)
But here's the thing, in third year, sirius had a huge HUGE crush on james. He often went to james' quidditch practice so he could comment on how james was such a loser made that dive so perfect, how reg can easily crush him the way he threw the quaffle was so satisfying. After spending 2 hours spitting nonsense on the pitch he returned to his dorm and yelled to snape's face like "you wouldn't believe potter is not only smart but also funny, and he's good at sport, do you know he can stand on his broom like that is so impressive and hey look at me im talking to you, dude, you're boring, imma go and bother reg". So basically reg and snape were his receiving end whenever he caught a glimpse of james or just got pranked by james.
Things got worse when sirius became quidditch commentor, for some reason the previous commentor accidentally swallowed slime in potions class (it was sirius' fault, he just wanted to yell his lung out on the microphone when his little baby brother debuted as slytherin seeker). Also he could compliment james without making it weird (that's what he thought, brilliant isnt it?). So because of the way he spoke and hyped up the players and the crowds, he was still a quidditch commentor till fifth year which can be said as his downfall year. Just because he couldnt get pass his MASSIVE CRUSH for james. In sirius' words, quoted by reg and snape at some point:
"Potter just gets thicker every year, what did he even do in summer? Fighting giants?"
"Have I ever told you guys that that birdnest of a hair potter has looks so soft? I wanna touch it, do you think he would let me touch if I accidentally fell on him?"
"Not to make you sad reg, but potter wears that quidditch jersey better than you."
"how come potter played such cruel pranks on you snape? He thinks I'm not worth enough to pull those on me?"
"in transfiguration class today, potter conjured such a huge rabbit out of a hat and it hopped around him, isn't it so cute that he's an animal lover?"
Not to mention his quidditch comments on james, it just got bolder and unfiltered each year. Sirius even went as far as making pranks that publicly announced his love to james but in a subtle way. Remus was his new victim (victim as in remus described himself), sometimes he would bribe remus with honeyduke chocolate so he could spill whatever he knew about james but so far he only knew that james like the color red and he liked to eat toffee, his glasses broke thrice a week and his favorite dentention was cleaning the trophy room so he could change the names to 'james potter the great' because there was this one time sirius was cleaning the medal which had "excellent ballet performance for hogwarts wizard 6 times a row - james potter the great" and sirius was utterly confused bc why would james learn ballet.
sirius also knew about remus' fury problem, he was not a nosy brat but in his first year, he often got nasty hexes from luscious and his gang so he ended up staying in hospital wing a lot, he noticed that once every month remus would go there to take his medicine then the next morning groaning in bed. He figured everything out in the second term and he must admitted that attending school with a werewolf was the coolest thing ever, not that he can go up to remus and tell him that. In fourth year, he heard james and peter whispering about animagus and james' pranks had reduced a lot since now his focus was elsewhere. Sirius was curious so he started stalking them which later he was asked by reg "are you on a phase that you're so obsessed with your crush you start to do questionable things?", "shut up reg I always do questionable things, now shoo, don't forget to tell snape to wash his hair!"
"how do you brew potion for animagus transformation?"
"It's a long process, why?"
"nothing!"
so by fifth year, he joined james' group on remus' moon dancing adventure. They didn't even know where this big dog came from and why it followed them but since moony was comfortable enough to let the dog play with him, they were all okay.
The length sirius would go to impress james was beyond comical, well, only reg and snape found it like that since sirius was a entirely different person when out of his comfort zone. He appeared cold and aloof all the time, fake smile and faint smirk here and there. Sometimes when people mentioned james and him in the same sentence, they would find him scoffed like that wasn't amusing at all, but on the inside he was SQUEALING like a teenage girl.
"did you hear that? James and sirius? Isn't that sound so right? It's like we are fated!" - sirius on his 97th retelling probably
"Yeah so why don't you go back to your room and let your brother sleep!" - reg, a tired slytherin student
While school work was not nothing but a piece of cake to him, sirius was still struggling with group work. He once drove a girl to tears in third year just because she couldn't master her spell in her seventh try, classmates were scared to be paired up with him, they always had this saying "black is pretty but his mouth is mean and his temper is like a mandrake out of a pot". Snape was always pair with lily bc apparently besties for life or whatever and now he stuck with doing assignment alone. He can see avery and rosier batting their eyebrows at him and sirius was like ew who would want to work with them? Peter by some magical way was crying and begging remus to help him, that left james with no one, well, he could go with lily but she was with snape, marlene was with dorcas and mary being the coolest girl was already with another student from other house. So sirius was now half staring at james and half staring at flitwick hoping he could get the hint and just let them be partners.
They did become partners. Yay. The best thing was that both of them knew about each other's abilities, what they were capable of and how far can they drive each other to their limits. Everything was like a fever dream to sirius, especially when james found some new spells and he wanted to teach sirius (it's a mutual thing), he would come up behind him and hold his hand to move the wand "MOTHER DEAR, IF I RUN AWAY FROM HOME, JUST KNOW THAT I'M MARRIED TO THIS MAN AND PLEASE NEVER DRAG ME HOME"
And then his downfall came, james knew, HE KNEW ALL ALONG, he knew yet he continued to act like nothing happened and sirius was just a fellow school prankster. Sirius was devastated, actually he wouldn't have known about this info if he hadn't heard remus talked to james about him. He still remembered precisely the words spat from james' mouth.
"of course I'm aware that he likes me, but what can I do about it? Tell him I fancy him too? You know I don't swing that way, besides, watching him make a mess of himself like that is quite amusing right? I mean- he's a cold prince in and out but you gotta admit this side of black is damn right hilarious."
Too embarrassed, sirius bolted towards his dorm with his hands on his face, crashed into his bed and laid there for hours till reg came and begged him to eat. He continued to sulk for weeks till christmas holiday came near. Sirius was sitting with reg at slytherin table in the great hall when james came and asked if they could talk. For some reason and being heart broken was one of them, he yelled at james to leave him alone and he didn't want to pull pranks anymore and james could go fuck himself bc he was a selfish prick. After spilling everything without thinking, he turned back to look at reg with wide eye who was also wide eye and had his jaw drop. "I ruined everything, didn't I", sirius muttered aggressively, "totally-"
before reg could even answer him, james sat down across from sirius, took his hands and looked him straight in the eyes. Sirius could feel reg's jaw almost hit the table before he hurrily excused himself and moved back to a few seats down the table. "Look black-, can I call you sirius? Since there are both of you here and addressing black may be too confusing."
"Never knew we're that cool to be on first name basis but sure."
"Alright, then, I wanted to ask why you seemed to avoid me these weeks?"
"I'm not avoiding you-"
"You are, usually you would jump at me to pull whichever crazy pranks you have in your mind, you always call me out in the corridors just to mock my hair, first of all, thank you I style it myself, second, if you want to touch it, here!"
sirius was absolutely horrified bc james did indeed take his hand and shove it into his hair which was extremely soft.
"You haven't come to quidditch pitch to spill nasty comments about me or joke that the giant squid could be a better chaser than I've ever been! You looked so sad at the table that you didn't even bother to open the package the owls delivered! And when you did, you just looked at it and sighed???"
"Huh? What's all this? Why do you suddenly care for me? What I'm sad about about is none of your business!"
"BECAUSE I sent those chocolate to you! Curse you and your spoiled rich ass taste in chocolate you posh! Do you know how hard it was for me to ask your equally stupid brother to let me know what kind of chocolate you like? And to find the exact one because according to him you like rum and cherry chocolate and hogsmeade doesn't have those!"
"Why chocolate?"
"I saw you flirted with pomfrey in first year so you could get more chocolate! So as a normal function kid at that time, I thought you must love chocolate a lot because I do too!"
"oh- BUT- wait, you... you care enough to know what I usually do to spite you... why?
"and here I thought I'm the dense one. Do I have to really spell it out? Fine. I do fancy you sirius, I fancy you a lot, hell, I even fancy you to the point I asked remus not to spill my secrets to you when I know you were bribing him. I want us to learn about each other when we're officially dating you know?"
"But you said you don't swing that way! You said I made a fool out of myself is hilarious to you! You're joking and that is cruel potter!"
"NO- NO, no, l'm sorry if that's what you heard but never would I dare to do that to you. I'm a romantic at heart, I spent the first three years here waxing poems to evans and yet she never bats an eye, then by fourth year I was captivated by you, I didn't realise at first because there was no way the school's most popular boy would divert his attention to me! I try to come up with many ways to confess but somehow turning into 'love pranks' were easier and you also did it too, it was even more impressive than mine so I'm like- stuck at one point where I can't come up with anything to make you look indulged. Please don't avoid me anymore, I love your nasty comments a lot, even though you never mean it and you kinda proved your point when you said you loved my arms in the last match with ravenclaw..."
So yeah they did confess to each other and be happy boyfriends. Much to reg and snape's horror now was that sirius often waltzed into common room with stack of love letters or sometimes doodles from james, he would spend all night reading those aloud and sing those horrible love songs james composed. What even worst was when snape woke up in the middle of the night because he was thirsty just to see james decorating sirius' bed post with little red and gold socks and little stag figurines. For reg, being a seeker was that you have to focus on your task to find the golden snitch before the other team did, but with james' booming voice across the field, he could hardly focus.
"Hey pretty black with grey eyes! This one is for you!" He screamed and then tossed the quaffle full force into the slytherin goal. "I SCORED THAT, WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO HOGSMEADE WITH ME THIS FRIDAY MR PRETTY COMMENTOR?" "10 points for gryffindor! And sure mr potter, pick me up precisely at 10, you late and you'll lose your kiss privilege!"
"POTTER! BLACK! The game!!"
"SORRY PROFESSOR!"
If reg could just catch the golden snitch right now he could save the whole audience from the sappy opera soap from his brother and james. But oh well, his brother was happy now so that idea didn't matter much.
This is just a bit about my slytherin sirius au, he's still the normal sirius but the only difference is he wears green instead of red. I also have part B, it's about james' POV but I'm too lazy now hehe.
