remus lupin is the type of parent who has to cry at least once every three months or so because: "sirius i can't BELIEVE how fast they grow. look at them turning into a woman/man/adult human!"

examples of when remus cries: the start of each school year, their first period, (if the kid's lgbt) when they come out, when their personality has started to shape and now remus's cub has their own style/phrases and lines/unique traits, hobbies and habits, whenever he's proud of them (which is a lot)

and every time that they have to go to a special/important event, their kid comes to the room and asks how they look and remus eyes just starts to water. and by now sirius and Kid know the drill, so a family hug will definitely happen

Based on what I know, I do not think Sirius and Regulus were even taught being gay was possible. I think Walburga/Orion refused to teach them it even exists. So I imagine them finding out like this:

Sirius: Yeah, if I was a girl I would probably date Remus to be honest. Such a shame it’s impossible for me to like him.

James: Impossible? What do you mean??

Sirius: Well you can only like people of the opposite gender.. right?

James: …No, you can like people of the same gender, that exists. It’s a thing.

What the Moon Brings

A Post-war AU fic where Sirius adopts child Remus. Parent-child relationship that I'm totally not using to process my trauma. I am adding new works as I write more snippets of this universe I've built in my head!

Ok think about: post Azkaban Sirius (like ootp era or so) finding out Remus is pregnant and feeling conflicted emotions because. They were thinking of marriage and a family right before October 1981.

And on the one hand he remembers and feels sad for what those past 14 years could have been, for the time they lost.

But on the other hand, during all his time in azkaban he would have never imagined that he'd get this second chance ever, the chance to start over again. So he vows to be the best and most devoted dad/partner ever and not let anything separate their family ever again

This is... perfect honestly. It is pretty much how I imagine the events would happen for them.

Months ago (and it's still in my mind as a possibility to explore in a future when I'm not busy af) I started thinking about Remus getting pregnant during LLAL era and... Yes, this scenario aligns perfectly with my general idea.

Like in canon, I do think Remus would be terrified to become a bio parent, especially in the context of a war. And I think during the first war things were... significantly worse than during the second. And they were scared. But I also think they wanted to picture a future together. And Remus would go with it if it means a future with Sirius (controversial, I know, taking into consideration... things.)

And that future was something Sirius thought a lot about while in Azkaban because it was a bitter memory, it was tainted. As you say, another one of those many things he lost.

So yes, in the case Remus gets pregnant during that time frame, Sirius would jump into it immediately, even if they are scared once again. But that baby would be a bit of hope and Sirius desperately needs it (which isn't opposed to Sirius wanting and needing to take care of Harry, don't get me wrong here.) I believe the possibility of building a life would make him take things more easily? Less impulsive?

Honestly it's a scenario I LOVE thinking about and I hope I can explore it further in the future (or if someone wants to, please, PLEASE, be my guest.)

Fleamont Potter who waits until James makes Regulus his son-in-law to make a heartwarming “father-of-both-grooms” speech at their wedding reception.

Fleamont Potter who leaves said wedding reception to go find Orion Black in his swanky members-only billiards hall—saying:

“Hello, my name is Fleamont Potter. You abused my kids, Sirius & Regulus. They’re fine now, but the same can’t be said for you.”

& then breaks Orion’s kneecap in with his own pool cue.

can’t help but think of how, if we choose to go by sirius’ characterisation as a private, arrogant teen who only lets a select few into his circle, sirius’ post-azkaban life just have been such an utterly humiliating experience for him.

especially OoTP. when he has all these near strangers in his childhood house, that he hated and loved and ran away from and couldn’t ever escape. if he spent his entire pre-azkaban existence building a cold and aloof persona, not letting people know what his home life had been like, then to have all of these people get a front row seat to it because of kreacher and portrait walburga’s shenanigans must have been near unbearable. to have the entire order, including snape whom he disliked and mistrusted, hear the kinds of names he’s being called.

not only does he have to deal with the retraumatisation of his childhood, but also the fact that he’s flayed open for everyone to see. it’s not only his freedom, innocence, dignity that has been snatched from him but his privacy also. it’s such a cruel thing to experience, on top of everything else.

to have literal children, his godson who he has been kept away from all this while, whom he presumably wants to be able to look up to him, to have him see into the deepest parts of his soul. to have to be so weak in front of him. not only is he subjected to such vileness but he also cannot do anything about it.

sirius has not had a moment of peace in all the time we knew him. it is indignity upon indignity that is heaped onto him. every other character has gotten a moment of respite but him. it fully breaks my heart.

Regulus sneaks off to the Potters to give Sirius a secret Christmas gift and gets caught by Sirius and James who convince him to stay a bit longer, and every time Regulus is like, "I have to go" and Sirius is like, "It's Christmas Reg, cmon just a little longer, you can say that I dragged you here against your will or whatever, just stay a little for a bit longer." And Regulus, being loki helpless against his older brother, just agrees. And he begins to bond with everyone.

Eventually, Regulus accidentally stays the rest of the day and when he gets ready to finally leave, Effie is like, "Would you like to stay the night? It's quite late" and Monty just straight up says, "Would you like to stay forever?"

And that's how Regulus ran away. (Accidentally)
