Hiiiiiiii just dropping in to say hii!!!! Anything new??? Howve u been!?

Hellooo!!!! I've been pretty but we're slowly moving through! Honestly nothing much other than just work and school stuff! But I have an orchestra concert in a couple of days and a stem volunteer thing next week!!! Unfortunately, no hospital volunteering as I found out that the timing is soooo bad!!!

I've been trying to read some more books right now, like The Help by Kathryn Stockett and my next book is Perfume by Patrick Süskind! (Maybe ill reread Lolita at some point again) And I'm also juggling mdzs (a danmei novel) and 1001 Arabian Nights collection on the side for lighter reading lol. So it's just been a mess of books, school, and morning shifts on the weekend lol. Also gotta make space for a birthday party coming up soon lol. Time management is crazy rnnnnn

Self harm and Evan can actually coexist very well. And not just Evan. Pandora too! It’s the deep desire to break away from something constricting, they watches blood spill and believes it’s the parts of them that are forced to hide away in a human skin. They don’t believe they are human! The pain is a dopamine hit and the cold is their warmth! To them self harm is act of escapism, literally, they are escaping from their “mortal constrictions” for a little while. The Rosier twins are far from humans or wizards and witches. They are something else entirely. And maybe cult leaders in a modern au idk

But for Regulus it’s a deep desire to take some control for himself. He does this because his heart, mind, and soul CHOOSES to! It’s a control thing and therefore that tiny blade stuck by him like a second skin, it’s the parts of him that can’t be taken away by persuasive words and backhanded advice! Self harm is basically a part of him now, it’s stuck by him, the blade is his spouse and the blood is his child, it’s the life he wants, which is all control. He started it young and now it’s like an another bodily reaction that comes naturally to him like hunger or envy. It’s all a part of Regulus.

how do you think pandora raised luna ?? (i think a lot of people forget she died when luna was 9)

this has taken me (checks watch) five months to reply to. yikes

my favourite thing to think about in relation to the lovegoods is xeno and luna’s philosophy revealed in tdh. they argue that things that have not been proven false are therefore true/do exist. i do, however, struggle to relate this to pandora, who i see as logical and clinical, not just philosophical and ‘controversial’. whilst yes, she is undeniable a free spirit, i also relate her to rational thought and reasonable viewpoints. for example, she carefully and clinically weighs up the pros and cons of picking a side in the war, and eventually decides on neither. not from a moral standpoint, but because she (rationally???) decides on selfish self-preservation as her priority. this kind of thinking can be carried through when considering her as a mother.

a common interpretation of pandoras parenting skills is that she was much like xeno, and they raised luna with their wild ideas and carefree attitudes. however, in the books, harry observes that in the photograph of luna, xeno, and pandora, it is the cleanest he has ever seen luna presented. i infer from this that pandora treated luna notably differently to xeno: i empathise more with the idea of her as a much more balanced parental figure. she ensures luna is well-clothed, well-dressed, well-educated. she maintains a stable, healthy environment for her daughter to be raised in, which is somewhat upended when xeno becomes a single father and his more flippant attitudes affect luna’s development. pandora obviously cares deeply for luna, but i perceive her maternal instincts as being somewhat secondary to her rationality. she views luna outside of her position as ‘daughter’- i.e she sees her as fully realised person. whilst this is not necessarily a bad thing, it also means she has no concerns bringing luna into her lab, exposing her to dangerous experiments; this is still irresponsible, but in a different way to xeno, who is portrayed as somewhat careless (think of the erumpent horn). undeniably, pandora is a good mother, and luna is left with fond memories, but i do question her abilities to prioritise luna above herself. my pandora is, after all, nothing but selfish.
