Regulus Black fill awkward silences with embarrassing facts about Sirius

Listen I like it when the Black brothers are portrayed as spoiled sickly Victorian children, but I personally think they wouldn't be like that.

No, they'd be the complete opposite.

Because their parents didn't pay them attention most of the time, the boys just used to sneak out into the garden. If they had some nanny, they ran away from her, if not, they just walked out.

They'd play in the mud and grass the whole day, then they'd give their dirty clothes to the house elves, and act innocent in front of their parents.

Sirius used to drink from puddles, Regulus ate a worm once or twice. They each swallowed several rocks.

They also used to eat random leaves and berries, somehow they managed to never poison themselves.

They freak their friends out by randomly picking up weeds, leaves and berries and eating them unwashed like it's completely normal, because it is for them.

The others are the more surprised by this because they still think that because Sirius and Regulus are from a very wealthy family, they are spoiled.

Someone mentioned that can you imagine if Regulus was older than Sirius?

And I just think there's a lot to unpack in this:

Imagine Regulus, who's a few years older than Sirius, who is, of course, exposed to the abuse of their parents way before sirius is born.

Regulus, who vows to always protect Sirius (mostly from his parents) even if it costs him his life.

Regulus who is so proud of Sirius when he gets to Gryffindor because that breaks the family circle (but he knows his parents are going to be extremely displeased).

Regulus who makes sure that after all the years of abuse, Sirius runs away from home and goes somewhere safe for him (the potters) .

Regulus who forces Sirius to run away before their parents force him to get the dark mark like they had done with him.

Regulus who has to cut all ties with his brother not because he doesn't love him but because he's protecting him.

Regulus who does all that research in the hope that he can defeat the dark lord and be connected with his brother once more.

Regulus who sents Sirius one more letter before he goes to the cave just telling his brother he loves him for the last time

So yeah, an older brother Regulus.

What if. WHAT IF. Sirius left and asked Regulus to come with him but Regulus refused because he'd have to leave Kreacher (who couldn't leave because he was bonded to Walburga and Orion until one of them gave him an item of clothing) So, that's why Regulus stayed. Because from the fics I've read, I think people are stuggling for a material reason why Regulus stayed, so.

I do love grumpy Regulus who hates James on sight. He holds a petty, childhood grudge against him because he blames him for everything from Sirius's sorting to Sirius's leaving.

I also love Regulus who sees James and is immediately down bad. He looks at him, "Raw. Next Question." Regulus, who thinks all of his problems could be solved by getting dicked down by this man. (He is correct)

My personal headcanon is that Regulus Black had a tongue piercing while still living in Grimmauld Place. No one noticed because of how little he spoke.
