Regulus Black fill awkward silences with embarrassing facts about Sirius

Listen I like it when the Black brothers are portrayed as spoiled sickly Victorian children, but I personally think they wouldn't be like that.

No, they'd be the complete opposite.

Because their parents didn't pay them attention most of the time, the boys just used to sneak out into the garden. If they had some nanny, they ran away from her, if not, they just walked out.

They'd play in the mud and grass the whole day, then they'd give their dirty clothes to the house elves, and act innocent in front of their parents.

Sirius used to drink from puddles, Regulus ate a worm once or twice. They each swallowed several rocks.

They also used to eat random leaves and berries, somehow they managed to never poison themselves.

They freak their friends out by randomly picking up weeds, leaves and berries and eating them unwashed like it's completely normal, because it is for them.

The others are the more surprised by this because they still think that because Sirius and Regulus are from a very wealthy family, they are spoiled.

Someone mentioned that can you imagine if Regulus was older than Sirius?

And I just think there's a lot to unpack in this:

Imagine Regulus, who's a few years older than Sirius, who is, of course, exposed to the abuse of their parents way before sirius is born.

Regulus, who vows to always protect Sirius (mostly from his parents) even if it costs him his life.

Regulus who is so proud of Sirius when he gets to Gryffindor because that breaks the family circle (but he knows his parents are going to be extremely displeased).

Regulus who makes sure that after all the years of abuse, Sirius runs away from home and goes somewhere safe for him (the potters) .

Regulus who forces Sirius to run away before their parents force him to get the dark mark like they had done with him.

Regulus who has to cut all ties with his brother not because he doesn't love him but because he's protecting him.

Regulus who does all that research in the hope that he can defeat the dark lord and be connected with his brother once more.

Regulus who sents Sirius one more letter before he goes to the cave just telling his brother he loves him for the last time

So yeah, an older brother Regulus.

Regulus on the other hand, just gives you a look of judgement and never mentions it again

Regulus is the type of sibling that would make fun of the way Sirius dresses (calling him tacky and tasteless every chance he gets) and then turns around and steals the very clothes he this is “unfashionable”. He’ll walk around the house in Sirius’ band tshirts and be caught leaving the house in his leather jackets because “they look better with his outfit” than anything he owns himself. Regulus will look him up and down and without blinking say “you’re going out dressed like that” and then copy the outfit word for word a week later.

but yeah that’s crescenthistory canon now, regulus was so scared of losing the best thing that has happened to him and despite any tensions they might be working through, he knows no one understands that like sirius. they were broken by the same home, yet sirius seems to have built a new one just fine.

sirius gives him a big bro hug and talks him down and plays it super cool (he thinks) — but the second reg leaves he runs to remus like babeihavenoideawhattodoijustfakeditomgomg, completely spiralling because it was not just fine whatsoever!

remus then has to talk sirius down. as soon as he’s calm enough he goes into full hyperfixation mood to make the handbook for reg:
