i think the reason i feel a little too connected to regulus is partially because of my own relationship with my family. love can be a deadly thing.

jegulus but instead of hunger games...ballad of songbirds and snakes.

regulus black as coriolanus snow and james as lucy gray. regulus who needs to honor his family and gain power and falling in love with his tribute. james who is just trying to survive the games and meeting a boy who gives him hope.

in the end, like in every universe, they were destined to burn bright and short.

regulus is still haunted by songs of mockingjays as the games continue and he mourns his songbird. James, who lives in solitude, hearing whispers of the glory and gore of the capital.

regulus he wasn't suicidal, he didn't want to die. however, he felt this unexplainable pull to destruction. sirius and regulus both felt this urge. sirius in violent fights with his family and a desire for chaos. regulus in his proclivity to act as the martyr and self sabotaging actions.

sirius didn't start fights and cause trouble for no reason, he used it as an outlet instead of falling into the void. the word family rotted in his mouth.

regulus didn't walk into the cave for no reason, he choose the role. he felt a call to the void. some children are simply born with tragedy written in their fate.

headcannon regulus is somewhat of a polyglot.

he was raised speaking a mix of french and english with his mother. being raised in a traditional pureblood household he had to learn at least 2 other languages due to the black families connections (probably italian and german).

he learned to mask his mixed accent but when hes relaxed or not trying to hide it, there's hints of the other accents mixing into his british accent.

he would talk to sirius and evan in franglais and to barty in itanglese/denglisch.

sometimes when he was tired he would struggle to remember to translate what he was saying into english. james would find this enthralling and would love hearing him speak in different languages. he would try to respond in the most atrocious french and regulus just found it cute.

james who screams 'i can always hear you sing, i wanna hear you speak to me' when regulus shows him the dark mark on his forearm. regulus 'I was talking at a cigarette there's nothing left to say' as a war drives their love apart.
