i met my younger self for coffee today.

she was 15 minutes late, i was 4 minutes early.

she ordered an iced black coffee, i ordered a cortado.

i wore my long brown hair down, her hair was short and blonde

she told me she's scared to move to a new house with her family, she's never travelled before. i told her i live alone, an ocean separating me and my family, in a city that reminds me to be alive.

she told me she wants to learn to love life and meet new people. i told her it's worth waiting for and share stories of the people who saved my life.

she says she wants to become a doctor to learn about her disease and learn another language. i laugh. i told her i hate science and am learning latin.

she asks me about the future. i smile and tell her to live in the moment.
