Salmon with Lemon Dill Sauce and Roasted Vegetables -
Ingredients:
* 2 salmon fillets
* 1 tablespoon olive oil
* 1/2 lemon, juiced
* 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 1 cup broccoli florets
* 1 cup cherry tomatoes
* 1/2 red onion, sliced

There are hundreds if not thousands of diets. Some work better for your body, some don’t. I summed them up for you, so you can choose and try.
Especially now that there are many people trying out challenges like '75 days hard' it is important to find a diet and follow through


First: what is 75 days hard?
~2 workouts a day: one inside, one outside
~read 10 pages of a non-fiction book
~certain amount of hydration (2-3,5l of water, depending on height etc)
~progress pictures
~and most importantly, to follow a certain diet strictly
So here are several diets for you to follow:


1. Clean Girl Diet
~my absolute favorite
This diet is about mindful and balanced eating. It includes nutrient-rich and minimal processed foods and it’s mostly about a whole lifestyle, rather than a strict diet
Here are the key principles:
~whole, unprocessed foods (fruits, veggies, lean protein, whole grains, healthy fats. Avoid processed or packaged food with added sugars, preservatives and artificial ingredients)
~hydration
~balanced meals (protein, healthy fats, complex carbs, fiber)
~Portion Control
~minimal sugar
!~consistency over restriction
2. High Protein Diet
~mainly for muscle build and recovery after training, as well as fat loss
~eat eggs, chicken, turkey, lean beef, fish, Greek yogurt, tofu, lentils
~Limit simple carbs, sugary foods and excessive fats
3. Vegan Or Plant-Based Diet
~improve your digestion and loose or maintain your weight
~avoid: all animal products (that’s it)
~pay attention to the calories, because vegan alternatives can be high in calories, they might make you gain weight when you’re not careful
4. Carnivore Diet
~weight loss, mental clarity, tho it can be restrictive. It’s high-protein, high-fat and consists of animal-based products only
~allowed: Meat, fish, eggs, butter and some dairy (optional)
~avoid: vegetables, fruits, grains and sugar (!)


~Stricter Diets~
-I avoided talking about these because they can reach the wrong community. Yet sometimes there are people who need to loose a certain amount of weight in a short period of time.
~they are meant for a few days only (3 days to 1 week, max. 2 weeks). Make sure to take vitamins to not face hair loss, break outs and other symptoms

~lunch: 1 sweet potato two, depending on size
~Dinner: 1 Protein Shake
2. Suzy‘s 'Time-Limited' Diet
~breakfast: chicken breast and sweet potato
~lunch: brown rice and salad
~Dinner: two sweet potato’s
+avoid eating after 6/7pm
3. HyunAs Detox Diet
~breakfast: a salad with light dressing
~lunch: steamed chicken breast or fish with veggies
~Dinner: smoothie or detox juice


💗these diets focus on clean eating, low calories and high-protein foods. A quick weight loss can cause a regain of the lost weight afterwards or trigger your emotionally.
So I ALWAYS will support building healthy habits and becoming disciplined without insane restrictions.
💗my first advice will forever be the clean girls diet. It’s simple, effective and cleans everything in your life, not only your diet.

You were seeing things. You had to be seeing things.
There was in no way in all the three realms that Beelzebub, Avatar of Gluttony and Ruler of the Underworld, had just placed half of his gigadeath burger on your plate.
Half. 0.5. ½.
You weren’t sure his stomach could handle such deprivation! He was a growing demon! He needed his nutrients!
“What?” Beel paused his chewing, burger grease dripping down his fingers and onto the checkered parchment paper on the tray before him. “You’re not hungry?”
Eyes flitting from the burger - the frankly delicious burger oozing premium molten mozzarella, the cheese mingling with the juice pooling from the sizzling meat patty - to his concerned gaze, you wiped the drool from the corner of your lip and shook your head. “It’s not that. It’s just… Don’t you want your whole burger?”
It was cute, the way he cocked his head to the side. His fiery hair fell into his eyes for a moment, his slow blink drawing your attention to his dark eyelashes. Your heart stuttered in your chest when he lifted his shoulder in a lopsided shrug. “I want you to try it. It’s really good.”
“Are you sure?” Your devil nuggets called your name from their carton next to your soda. They were tasty, sure, but that burger looked like something else.
“Yeah,” He nodded, a smile tugging at his lips. “Did you think we were only coming here tonight?”
The taste flooding your tongue - savory and salty with a crunch from the fixings cradled between two soft buns - was so overwhelming, you didn’t register his words. You were too busy relishing in the richness of the burger as it traveled down your throat and to your stomach, warming you from the inside out. It didn’t even bother you that the patty was probably made from some weird Devildom animal that you would usually find unappetizing. The burger was too good to care.
Realization struck you like lightning from above. “Wait, what?”
It was not lost on you how Beel’s indigo gaze traced the tip of your tongue as you licked at the residual taste on your lips. Something unreadable lanced through his irises. Suddenly, it was awfully hard to meet his eyes, your heart firmly lodging itself in your throat.
Lazily nibbling on his last acidic hell fry, he suggested, “Want to have a campfire?”
“A campfire?” You echoed, ducking your head when you became self-conscious of your dumb expression.
His mind made up, he toweled off his greasy fingers and stood, the stool screeching against the wooden floors of Hell’s Kitchen. “Yeah,” Determination as sharp as his jaw set his brow into a deep furrow. “Come with me.”
Keeping up with Beelzebub on the hunt for food was easier than you had expected. Looming over most demons, his long legs gave him the ability to cover impressive distance with each step. However, you found it wasn’t difficult to wander the streets of the Devildom at his side. Maybe it was the way he moved slowly, with intention, as if he was trying to commit every second of this night to his memory. Maybe it was his big heart, always so considerate of those he cared about.
Maybe he was looking out for you, just as you always looked out for him. There was a reason you kept snacks on your person at all times, after all.
It had come as a surprise when Beel had requested your attendance for an impromptu dinner at Hell’s Kitchen. You had been drowning in homework, the sharp knock on your bedroom door startling you from your third attempt to actually absorb the words on the page in front of you.
“Hey, dinner tonight?” He had asked, so casually as if it was any other day.
“Sure,” You had smiled.
“Cool,” He had beamed that dazzling Beelzebub grin that stretched wide across his face. The one where you could count all of his sharp teeth. The one that creased his eyes into crescent moons and made your stomach twist into a pretzel. “It’s a date.”
You were pretty sure it had taken you at least five minutes to process the bomb he had dropped on you upon his exit. Another fifteen to find a suitable outfit - casual and comfortable, but also nice, you know? And you couldn’t possibly discount the solid forty minutes spent worrying over whether he was joking or being serious.
When he had met you in the entrance hall clad in his best jeans and a flattering, nice sweater, you felt the relief inflate your chest like a helium balloon.
And really, you still felt like you were walking on air. Even as you stood in the snacks aisle of a Devildom bodega, shying away from the unflattering glare of overhead fluorescent lights as Beel rifled through foil packaging with an intensity that you long learned accompanied his hunger.
He fought you tooth and nail at the register, amusement dancing upon his lips. “Why should you pay?”
“Because you bought dinner,” you pouted, crossing your arms over your chest as if it would possibly make you more intimidating in the eyes of the 6’4” demon.
“Hmmm,” he mulled over your argument for a millisecond, just to lean down and blow a raspberry in your face. He smirked, “Nope.”
It caught you off guard, your face burning as bright as a screaming tomato. Brattiness was usually Belphie’s expertise.
Mischief melting into soft affection in his indigo gaze, fixed to you as the bodega clerk processed his payment, he ventured, “What if… you cover our next date?”
You liked the way the tips of his ears flushed, the way he rubbed the back of his neck and shot you a sheepish, albeit genuine, smile.
“I think that would be fair.” A tickle spread across your cheeks, scrunching your nose and burning your skin.
Though, the heat from your flush had nothing on the warmth of the flames lapping at the inky Devildom sky. The embers shot like fireflies reaching for the stars, the campfire crackling within the confines of the pit, lined by rocks that would dwarf even Beelzebub’s palm. It had come as a surprise when Beel had led you off the beaten path, guiding you to a clearing in a forest not too far from the House of Lamentation. However, the secret fire pit made a lot more sense when he explained that it was typically reserved for stargazing with Belphie.
“Are those… rice krispie squares?” You asked, the pop of an adhesive seam wafting vanilla your way.
“They’re crackling mallow bars,” Beel corrected, though there was no judgment in his tone. He had this way of introducing you to Devildom cuisine in a manner that felt familiar, like he understood that there were a lot of similarities between the dishes you knew. “They’re made up of marshmallows and these crispy marrow bits that are caramelized and -”
“Do they taste sweet?” You suppressed a grimace at the unappetizing description.
He chucked, the sound oozing reassurance, “Yes.”
“Okay, cool.” As he retrieved two long sticks, splitting into sharp prongs at the tip, nostalgia hit you like a truck. You hummed, “I used to eat something like this all the time when I was little.”
He raised a brow. “You’re still little.”
“Very funny.”
He laughed. Peeling the wrapper from two treats, he secured both on the ends of the sticks. “Have you ever roasted them over a campfire?”
“I never considered that. They would melt pretty fast, wouldn’t they?”
“You would think so,” He passed you a stick, eyes warm with encouragement and something akin to childlike awe, “But they actually hold up for a while.”
For a moment, it was quiet. Just you and Beel and the chirps of the hell crickets in the undergrowth. It was hard to pay attention to the way the sweet bars darkened, a char climbing up the chunks of… marrow, or whatever… when you could feel Beel’s eyes on you.
When you met his gaze, he was ready, already pulling the snack from his stick. “Here, try this.”
The marshmallow near compromised, the dessert fell apart in his large hands. Beel’s fingers tangled in sticky sweetness, you gasped in delight as strings of sugar stretched towards you with his gesture. “Oh, it’s so gooey!”
His smile was so big, so warm, and you had the sudden thought that if you were in Icarus’s shoes, you too would fly too close to the sun. He went to feed you the treat, laughing, “Open wide!”
The explosion of flavor on your tongue - hot and sweet with that smoky campfire accent - had you squirming in delight, a thrilled hum vibrating in your throat. You were grateful that Beel thought to remove your stick from the fire. You were far too occupied with your new favorite snack to notice it about to ignite.
Beel’s laughter died, his brow furrowing as conflict eclipsed the joy in his gaze. You looked to him, confused. “What?”
Had he always been that close? Had he been watching you with such longing this entire time?
“You’ve got a bit of marshmallow…” His adam’s apple bobbed as he gulped, eyes zeroing in on your lips. “Can I?”
You nodded. Your mouth was so dry, your pulse in your ears. With his nose nudging yours, you could taste the sweetness of the marshmallow treat on his breath, feel the way you were drawn closer like sticky sugar insistent on holding you together.
His lips brushed yours - soft and chaste. It was funny how a kiss so gentle could hold so much weight. Featherlight, a tender brush, and yet you felt as though the prints of his lips were engraved on yours forevermore.
“Mmm, tastes extra good,” he breathed, cupping your face in his hands. His thumbs smoothed over your skin, his eyes reading your soul as you leaned in to kiss him again. A peck to his lips, to his nose, to the apples of his cheeks.
“What are you thinking about?” You murmured, reveling in his proximity, his radiant warmth.
“Trying all my favorite foods off your lips,” He smiled, the twitch of his lips slotting against yours with such ease. “Think we could try that?”
“Sure,” You laughed, “It’s a date.”

With most insects and things I can understand that they have a place in the ecosystem, but I have trouble understanding the same thing with bed bugs. Are they just like. Kind of domesticated ticks? How did they end up almost solely indoors (to my understanding)? I had them in my apartment a while back and it was a pretty traumatizing experience. I know they don’t carry diseases like mosquitos and are really more mentally/emotionally harmful than physically harmful.
I saw your post about how we should be thankful the world isn’t so sterile that there’s no living thing left to harm or inconvenience us. And I do agree! But I think bedbugs are the one thing that I have trouble fully grasping that concept with. It’s harder to see the bigger picture with something that occurs in such a small and personal space, I suppose.
I can't find the post where I launched into this before but tiny bloodsucking animals ("micropredator" is growing as the preferred term over lumping them in with "parasites" per se!) exert a lot of important pressures on their host animals; everyone knows predators change how animals eat, sleep, mate, nest together and migrate, but so do the things that just "annoy" them, like having fleas! Additionally "micropredators" work together with predators and diseases in regulating population balance, and by taking nutrients non-lethally from their hosts, they help redistribute energy back into circulation! A little flea or tick or bed bug collects a little blood protein from a bear, it gets eaten by a spider or it dies and rots, and now that bear's protein energy is back in the food web well before the bear has passed on! All throughout that bear's life, its blood is "becoming" all these little pesky bugs that then become food for other things! When it comes to bed bugs, which are closely related to stinkbugs, assassin bugs, aphids and other "true bugs," they adapted to live in bird's nests, bat caves, rodent dents, anywhere juice-filled vertebrates come home to and rest, and the ones that feed on us are so closely related to a bat-specialized species you can only barely tell them apart:

The "bat bug," however, can't utilize human blood well enough to maintain an infestation on human hosts alone! They fully require bats!
We aren't sure when some bat bugs branched off and started traveling with humans, but we do know that they used to be MUCH MUCH EASIER to deal with. Perfectly ordinary pesticides used to clear up a bed bug problem just fine. That changed when we invented DDT and tried to use it to wipe them out altogether. It's one of the harshest synthetic poisons ever developed, and it kills through just an ion channel in the animal's nervous system. By drenching North America in DDT for years on end, we "seemingly" wiped out bed bugs and a few other things, but really all we did was give a few generations of human beings a bunch of new chronic illnesses and give a few generations of insects a mutation that makes them resistant to not just DDT but lots and lots of other poisons.
Bed bugs basically destroy people's lives but never naturally evolved to be that good at it; it's just another result of capitalism ignoring the warnings of the scientific community. People died rich off DDT before they ever had to care about its after effects.

Fuck Canon Tiingilar
i hate the canon tiingilar recipe with my whole heart. Look at this (original source Galaxy's Edge cookbook). This is supposed to be "blisteringly spicy Mandalorian stew or casserole"? This is a mild chicken curry.
It sounds good, but it's not the rich, spicy, flavor-packed mandalorian stew of my dreams.
Let's start by breaking down the etymology of tiingilar.
Tiingilar is broken into 3 parts: Tiin, gi, and lar.
Tiin is an underived form of tiin'la, or coarse.
Gi is the word for fish.
Lar is a bit up in the air; it could be related to laar, for sing (which anyone who's seen someone bite into something spicier than they can handle can understand), or galar, for spill/pour (makes sense for stew), or even olar for "here", which I suppouse could be extrapolated to mean "whatever is here" for a stew which has flexible ingredients.
But the really important bits are the "tiin" and the "gi"! The first chunk of tiingilar means "coarse/rough fish(y)".
The other food word we have with "gi" in it from canon mando'a is "gihaal", (which, hilariously, breaks down into fish-breath), a pungent fishmeal. It's long lasting and stable which means its probably a staple ration food. It sounds like it'd put most people off at first, but given mandalorian tastes prioritize strong flavors (draluram), possibly including pungent flavors, and "richly nourishing" foods (yaiyai) it's probably a pretty common ingredient.
Guess what fishmeal is! A very high protein (typically 50-60%, but up to 70% for some varieties!), nutritionally dense, and coarsely textured! It's used in any cuisines; some is processed for human consumption but I cannot find any sources that use it in food except in research aiming to combat malnutrition (shout out to researchers at the Abeokuta University of Agriculture for being the best resource about fishmeal in food!). Although we can't know that gihaal would be the same as our version of fishmeal (which is normally processed from whole fish), I think that we can assume that mando'ade woudn't be skimping on the inclusion of bone, which include a lot of valuable nutrients, and would make it coarse.
So, gihaal is a pungent, likely coarse fishmeal that is a staple nutritional supplement in, at minimum, field cookery. It would make nutritionally-dense, protein packed, and strongly flavored base for tiingilar. Makes sense linguistically and practically for mandalorians to build their cooking around nutritionally valuable and shelf-stable rations.
Which brings me to the mandalorian values in food! Draluram (bright mouth: intense, bold flavors), heturam (spicy as in heat burning in the mouth), hetikleyc (spicy as in sinus burn), and yai'yai (richly nourishing, which I personally take to mean both nutritionally dense and satiating) are the 4 canon words that express the priorities in mandalorian cuisine.
These values fit in with the inclusion of gihaal as a base for tiingilar, adding yai'yai if not draluram, but where's my spice? Where's my layers of spice, the sharp sinus burn that makes your eyes water and the creeping warmth that leaves you panting and the bright heat and the numbing and tingling sensation at your lips?
Definitely not in that yellow curry recipe.
The inclusion of ginger and cinnamon (from garam masala) are both nice, but think bigger and broader! Obviously, we don't have mandalorian herbs, but add spice with chilies, cayenne, ginger, horseradish, mustard seeds, sichuan pepper! Bring out warming spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, star anise! Highlight the different elements of spice and warmth and flavor with enthusiasm and delight!
As for draluram, I think the pungent flavor of fish is a nice, bold addition to something for a unique flavor, but let's not forget other players. Aliums like garlic and onions are always lovely, but what about citrus? If mandalorians have behot, what's stopping you from adding in citrus juice or peel or some kaffir lime leaves? What about strong bitter flavors from vegetables you choose, like mustard greens or kale, or the rich savory taste of browned meats if you want more protein in your dish?
Yai'yai, we have a good base of protein and fat and nutritional content from the fishmeal, but why not build it out? Add sugar, both to balance flavors and because energy is energy and mandalorians certainly like their sweets. Fats and oils, other meats and proteins, vegetables and carbs. Add nuts, peanut butter, sesame for added bulk and another element of flavour. I want to see an end product that sticks to your ribs, that makes me skip seconds on not because I don't want more, but because I'm full on one serving.
Back to the etymology. Mild chicken curry is not tiin, nor does it have gi. It's fairly yai'yai, got decent draluram, negligible heturam, and no hetikleyc.
Tiingilar with a gihaal base (in irl cooking, any kind of fish base) and heavier seasoning to add multiple kinds of heat would fit all of those categories so much better.
So I guess in the end, I'm saying I don't have an idea of tiingilar as any one recipe, but tiingilar as a general dish that leans into mandalorian food culture and the literal meaning of the word. Maybe it's little gritty and somewhat fishy, but it's a rich and spicy and flavorful meal you can make with whatever on hand as long as you have a handful of staples.

Blood Orange Sorbet for Two
A dinner date is never complete without a beautiful dessert to top off the night, and for a light treat after a heavy dinner the lovely and simple fruit sorbet never fails to delight a date.
Blood oranges are both delicious and meaningful. Their beautiful, rich color is complimented by their high vitamin-C content, which lead doctors of the past to associate the citrus with vitality and life. Is that not perfect for a date night dessert? Just as love is what propels human life forwards, we are social creatures after all, the nutrients provided by the fruit named after our blood keep us healthful and vibrant.
The flavor of a blood orange is bright and sweet, just as love is often as blinding as it is euphoric. The tragedy of the fruit however, is that in order to express its true tastes it must be torn apart and devoured, just as love requires us to break ourselves open to be fully accepted by the one who wishes to taste our souls. One must be willing to be peeled, sectioned, chewed, swallowed, and digested in order to be fully understood, just as a blood orange is. A true fruit of love.
For the recipe, you will need:
3 large blood oranges, keep the peels of one and zest of one
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
Optional but delicious, 1 teaspoon vanilla
Zest one of the oranges, then slice all three in half across the sections.
Using a spoon, scrape out all of the pulp from the oranges into a sieve, leaving empty cups. Save two of these cups, preferably from the ones not zested for better presentation.
Press all of the pulp into the sieve in order to extract as much juice as possible, try to avoid getting pulp into the juice as it results in a poorer texture in the final product.
Put the water and sugar into a saucepan and turn it to medium heat. Heat the water while stirring constantly until all of the sugar is dissolved, then take off the heat and allow to cool. Add the vanilla here if so desired.
Once cooled, mix the juice and the syrup together until combined. Taste for sweetness, as not all blood oranges are as sweet as we'd like for this recipe. If the mixture is deemed too sweet, simply dilute with water.
If you have an ice cream churn you would want to use it for the freezing process. If you don't own one, you can approximate the process by filling a large bowl with ice, water, and salt, and placing your sorbet mix in a smaller bowl nestled within. For the ideal sorbet texture, you should stir the mix with a whisk vigorously every five minutes until the desired texture is achieved. Sorbet should be firm but not hard or icy. You want ice cream, not a popsicle.
Once the sorbet is churned, transfer it back into the orange peel cups for presentation. This can be done ahead of time if you are serving a guest, simply keep them in the freezer for no longer than two hours to keep the texture soft.
I must say that this recipe was a hit with my fiance. He, bless his heart, prefers simpler recipes. I like to think it is because he wishes to spend more time with me, but I know it is because his palette is not yet as refined as I hoped it would be by now. Nevertheless, we chefs persist. I shall best his tongue yet.
