Glass Half Empty or Half Full?
Ohmygod I know I've already posted today but I've just been reminded of this and need to tell the world (not like anyone will see it anyway but I digress).
So the glass half full thing? The thing that's used to describe if you're an optimist or a pessimist? It's all bullshit. Let me explain:
The way you should describe a glass with water in it depends on the actions that have been performed on it. For example, you have an empty glass. If you pour water into the glass, you are in the process of filling the glass, therefore, if you stop half-way, the glass is half full.
Now lets say you fill that glass to the top. The glass is full.
Start pouring the water out of the glass. You are in the process of emptying the glass. Stop half way, and the glass is half empty.
See where I'm going with this?
Now, you may be frantically typing away on your keyboards, trying to disprove my theory by asking, "But Emmet! What if you find a random glass of water with no way of telling how it got in that state?! What do you have then?"
A maniac on the loose. That's what you have. Who leaves a half-drunk glass of water lying around!? If the maniac who lives in your home has left this glass unattended, then we have a few options to consider:
The glass is half empty - If the maniac wasn't that thirsty, they would have poured it half full and then drank it. Chances are they poured a whole glass and then drank half of it, realising they weren't thirsty enough for a full glass.
The glass is half full - If your maniac is forgetful or easily distracted, they may have poured the glass half way and wandered off. Please bring the water to your maniac and keep them hydrated.
The glass is empty - Thank you for hydrating your maniac.
The glass is full - WeLL TeCHnIcAllY ThE gLAsS HaS AiR So IT's AlWaYs FuLL— Stfu nerd (says me).
There is no glass - You're hallucinating, please wake up.
