The essential skincare acids guide
Tumblr media Tumblr media
type of acids sheet
Salicylic Acid โ€“ Best for oily and acne-prone skin. It penetrates deep into the pores, unclogs blackheads and whiteheads, controls excess oil, and prevents breakouts.
Glycolic Acid โ€“ Ideal for normal to oily skin. It exfoliates the top layer, brightens the skin, improves texture, and reduces fine lines and hyperpigmentation.
Lactic Acid โ€“ Suitable for dry and sensitive skin. It gently exfoliates while providing hydration, making it great for dullness and rough texture without irritation.
Mandelic Acid โ€“ Best for sensitive and acne-prone skin. It helps with uneven skin tone, reduces breakouts, and provides mild exfoliation without irritation.
Azelaic Acid โ€“ Works for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It reduces redness, fades hyperpigmentation, treats acne, and calms rosacea.
Kojic Acid โ€“ Best for hyperpigmented and sun-damaged skin. It helps lighten dark spots, melasma, and discoloration caused by acne scars or sun exposure.
Tranexamic Acid โ€“ Ideal for all skin types struggling with stubborn pigmentation. It effectively reduces melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and sunspots.
Hyaluronic Acid โ€“ Suitable for all skin types, especially dry and dehydrated skin. It deeply hydrates, plumps fine lines, and retains moisture for a youthful look.
Polyglutamic Acid โ€“ Great for dry and dehydrated skin. It locks in moisture, provides long-lasting hydration, and enhances the skinโ€™s elasticity.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) โ€“ Best for dull, uneven, and aging skin. It brightens, reduces pigmentation, fights free radicals, and boosts collagen production.
Ferulic Acid โ€“ Works for all skin types, particularly those using Vitamin C. It enhances the antioxidant power of Vitamin C and E, preventing premature aging.
Ceramides (Fatty Acids) โ€“ Essential for dry and sensitive skin. They repair and strengthen the skin barrier, preventing water loss and irritation.
Linoleic Acid (Omega-6 Fatty Acid) โ€“ Ideal for acne-prone and oily skin. It reduces clogged pores, balances oil production, and supports a healthy skin barrier.
Ellagic Acid โ€“ Good for sun-damaged and aging skin. It protects against UV damage, brightens skin, and provides antioxidant benefits.
Cinnamic Acid โ€“ Suitable for all skin types. It has anti-inflammatory properties and helps protect against environmental damage.
Succinic Acid โ€“ Best for oily and acne-prone skin. It controls sebum production, fights acne-causing bacteria, and soothes inflammation.
How to choose the right skincare acid for ur skin type
Oily & Acne-Prone Skin
Salicylic Acid (BHA): Penetrates deep into pores to remove excess oil and prevent breakouts.
Azelaic Acid: Reduces acne, fades dark spots, and calms redness.
Succinic Acid: A gentle anti-inflammatory that helps control breakouts.
Dry & Dehydrated Skin
Lactic Acid (AHA): Exfoliates while hydrating the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid: Retains moisture and plumps the skin.
Mandelic Acid: A mild exfoliant that improves texture without drying.
Combination Skin
Glycolic Acid (AHA): Brightens skin and smooths texture.
Salicylic Acid (BHA) (my bff๐Ÿฆ…) : Controls oil production in the T-zone.
Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates dry areas while balancing oil.
Sensitive Skin
Mandelic Acid: A gentle AHA that exfoliates with minimal irritation.
Azelaic Acid: Soothes inflammation and reduces redness.
PHA (Polyhydroxy Acids): Provides mild exfoliation while boosting hydration.
Hyperpigmentation & Dark Spots
Kojic Acid: Brightens skin and reduces discoloration.
Tranexamic Acid: Fades stubborn dark spots and melasma.
Glycolic Acid (AHA): Speeds up cell turnover for an even skin tone.
Aging & Wrinkles
Glycolic Acid (AHA): Stimulates collagen production and smooths fine lines.
Ferulic Acid: Enhances antioxidant protection and stabilizes vitamin C.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): Brightens skin and fights free radical damage.
Common Mistakes When Using Skincare Acids
Using skincare acids can transform your skin, but when used incorrectly, they can cause irritation, sensitivity, or even worsen skin concerns. Here are some common mistakes to avoid:
1. Over-Exfoliating
Many people think using glycolic or salicylic acid daily will give them faster results, but excessive exfoliation weakens the skin barrier. This can lead to redness, peeling, breakouts, and sensitivity. (especially for oily skin)
Solution: Use exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs) 2-3 times per week and always listen to your skin. If it feels irritated, take a break pleaaase
2. Skipping Sunscreen
Acids like glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid increase your skinโ€™s sensitivity to the sun. Without SPF, you risk sunburn, premature aging, and even worsening of dark spots.
Solution: Always use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily when using serums with those acids.
3. Mixing the Wrong Acids
Not all acids work well together. Using too many active ingredients in one routine can cause irritation.
๐Ÿ”ด Examples of bad combinations:
Vitamin C + AHAs/BHAs โ†’ Can cause irritation and weaken Vitamin Cโ€™s effectiveness.
Retinol + AHAs/BHAs โ†’ Too harsh on the skin, leading to peeling and sensitivity. (by experience ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ)
Niacinamide + Vitamin C (unless properly formulated) โ†’ Can cause flushing or reduce effectiveness.
Solution: Use exfoliating acids on alternate days and simplify your routine to avoid irritation.
4. Not Hydrating Properly
Exfoliating acids remove dead skin cells but can also strip away moisture. Without proper hydration, the skin can feel tight, dry, or irritated.
Solution: After using acids, apply thick a moisturizer to maintain balance especially if the acids dry ur skin so fast

gelatin gummies for glowy skin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not only fun to make but also incredibly efficient, packed with collagen, antioxidants, and skin-nourishing ingredients:
Ingredients:
โ€ข 2 cups liquid: you can use fresh orange juice, pomegranate juice, or green tea (rich in antioxidants and vitamin C).
โ€ข 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin: this provides the collagen for skin elasticity and hydration.
โ€ข 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup: a natural sweetener for taste (optional).
โ€ข 1 tsp lemon juice: adds extra vitamin C for skin brightness.
Instructions:
prepare the liquid. heat your juice or tea in a small saucepan over medium heat. donโ€™t let it boil; you just want it warm (around 120ยฐF/50ยฐC) to preserve nutrients.
Dissolve the gelatin. slowly sprinkle the gelatin over the warm liquid while whisking continuously. this ensures it dissolves completely without clumping.
sweeten and enhance. stir in honey, lemon juice, and any optional add-ins (like collagen peptides) until fully dissolved.
pour and set. pour the mixture into cute silicone molds or a shallow glass dish. let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 2-3 hours, or until set.
cut or unmold. if you used a dish, slice the gummies bite-sized squares. if you used molds, simply pop the gummies out.
enjoy. store the gummies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
why it works for glowing skin:
โ€ข Gelatin (collagen) improves skin elasticity and hydration
โ€ข Vitamin C (from orange/lemon juice) helps boost natural collagen production
โ€ข Green tea/matcha reduces inflammation and provides antioxidants
ive been loving making these, and I feel like it has improved my skin by a lot (especially my dark circles????), so I felt like sharing this fun little recipe with you guys. <3

How to romanticize every school moment like a true 'it girl' :
Hereโ€™s the secret: school isnโ€™t just about textbooks and deadlines. It's your runway, your story, your stepping stone to greatness. Hereโ€™s how to turn even the most mundane school day into something magical, stylish, and *completely* iconic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Morning Goddess Energy
Waking up early isn't punishmentโ€”it's the moment the world is yours before anyone else wakes up. Prep the night before, set your favorite playlist, and let the morning sun kiss your skin. A silk robe, a cappuccino in hand, and a moment to journal or meditate? Thatโ€™s *main character* energy.
Look Good, Feel Good
The "I just rolled out of bed" look is cute, but nothing beats stepping into class looking polished. Lay out your outfit the night beforeโ€”think blazers, structured skirts, or those high-waisted jeans that make you feel *unstoppable*. Own the hallways like theyโ€™re your runway.
Coffee Dates... With Yourself
Instead of rushing through that study session, make it an experience. Light a candle, pour yourself a fancy latte, and treat studying like a cozy coffee shop moment. Bonus: add your *fave* playlist in the background and find a cute study spot with a view.
Take Class Like a Boss
Classes arenโ€™t just for sitting thereโ€”theyโ€™re your stage. Be the person who raises their hand with that killer question or insightful comment. Sit at the front, stay organized with your sleek planner, and use the cutest stationery. Confidence is everything.
Study Smart, Not Hard
Make studying enjoyable with timed sessions (hello, Pomodoro Technique) and aesthetic notes. Find your vibeโ€”whether itโ€™s a window seat or your favorite cozy corner. Hydrate, treat yourself to a little snack, and romanticize every highlight and flashcard.
Romanticize Routine
Turning small habits into rituals is *everything*. Treat yourself to a calming skincare routine after a long day, keep your desk tidy with flowers or decor that makes you happy, and wind down with a good book before bed. Make everyday routines feel like luxurious rituals.
Celebrate the Small Wins
Finished an assignment? Nailed that test? Celebrate *every* win. Take yourself out for a little treat, order in something indulgent, or enjoy a relaxing evening with a bubble bath. You *deserve* it. Lifeโ€™s too short not to savor every victory.
โœจ Own your day, romanticize the moments, and make even the toughest school days feel like a dream. โœจ Youโ€™ve got this, babe.

Skincare is Like Cookingโ€”Hereโ€™s the Perfect Recipe for Healthy, Balanced Skin ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ
If you wouldnโ€™t randomly throw ten different spices into a dish and hope for a five-star meal, then why are you doing that with your skincare routine? ๐Ÿคฏ
Too many actives? Disaster.
Skipping the essentials? Ruined.
Not giving it time to work? Ineffective.
Skincare is like cookingโ€”you need the right ingredients, the right method, and a little patience. Letโ€™s break it down so you can stop overloading your skin and start cooking up a glow. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณโœจ
Step 1: The Base โ€“ Cleansing ๐Ÿฅ„
Like every great meal starts with a solid base, your skincare routine starts with cleansing.
โŒ The Mistake:
Using a harsh, stripping cleanser that leaves your skin dry and tight. Thatโ€™s like burning your onions before you even start cookingโ€”the whole dish is ruined!
โœ… The Fix:
Choose a gentle, non-stripping cleanser suited for your skin type. Your skin should feel fresh, not overcooked.
๐Ÿ’ก Best Cleansers for Your Skin Type:
โœ”๏ธ Oily Skin? Foaming gel cleansers with salicylic acid.
โœ”๏ธ Dry Skin? Hydrating cream cleansers with ceramides.
โœ”๏ธ Sensitive Skin? Fragrance-free, pH-balanced cleansers.
Step 2: The Seasoning โ€“ Actives ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
Actives like Vitamin C, Retinol, and AHAs are the seasonings of skincareโ€”they enhance the results, but too much? Disaster.
โŒ The Mistake:
Mixing multiple actives without a plan. Itโ€™s like adding too much chili powder and saltโ€”you end up ruining the dish (aka your skin barrier).
โœ… The Fix:
โœ”๏ธ Introduce one active at a time to see how your skin reacts.
โœ”๏ธ Alternate between daysโ€”donโ€™t mix Retinol and strong exfoliants in one go.
โœ”๏ธ Start with low concentrations before going full MasterChef mode.
๐Ÿ’ก Pro Tip: If your skin is red, irritated, or flakyโ€”youโ€™ve over-seasoned. Cut back and let your skin recover.
Step 3: The Butter โ€“ Moisturizer ๐Ÿงˆ
Would you make pasta without sauce? No? Then donโ€™t skip moisturizerโ€”itโ€™s what holds everything together!
โŒ The Mistake:
Thinking you donโ€™t need moisturizer because you have oily skin. Thatโ€™s like serving dry toastโ€”unappetizing and unpleasant!
โœ… The Fix:
Every skin type needs hydration. Find a moisturizer that works for you:
โœ”๏ธ Oily Skin? Lightweight gel-based moisturizer.
โœ”๏ธ Dry Skin? Rich, ceramide-packed cream.
โœ”๏ธ Combo Skin? A water-based moisturizer that hydrates without heaviness.
Step 4: The Final Touch โ€“ Sunscreen ๐Ÿ”ฅ
This is the most important step. If you skip it, everything else is wastedโ€”just like forgetting to plate your food after all that effort.
โŒ The Mistake:
Not wearing sunscreen because itโ€™s cloudy or youโ€™re indoors. Thatโ€™s like leaving food out and wondering why it spoils.
โœ… The Fix:
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, no excuses! Your future self will thank you.
Quick Recap: The Perfect Skincare Recipe
Hereโ€™s your foolproof skincare formula for glowing, healthy skin:
๐Ÿฅ„ Step 1: Cleanser = The Base โ†’ Use a gentle cleanser that preps your skin.
๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Step 2: Actives = The Seasoning โ†’ Introduce ingredients slowly and wisely.
๐Ÿงˆ Step 3: Moisturizer = The Butter โ†’ Locks in hydration and balances the skin.
๐Ÿ”ฅ Step 4: Sunscreen = The Final Touch โ†’ Protects everything youโ€™ve worked for!
Final Thoughts: Are You a Skincare Chef or a Skincare Disaster? ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ”ฅ
I used to dump actives into my routine like I was seasoning friesโ€”and letโ€™s just say my skin fried too. ๐Ÿ˜ญ Donโ€™t make my mistake.
Skincare is all about balance, patience, and the right combination of ingredients. Follow this โ€œrecipe,โ€ and your skin will reward you with a healthy, glowing complexion.
๐Ÿ‘‡ Tell me in the comments: Are you a Skincare Chef ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ or a Skincare Disaster ๐Ÿ”ฅ? Letโ€™s fix your routine together!

any skin care (face) advice?
hi darling!! thank you so much sending in an ask! iโ€™m so excited to answer this omg i LOVE skincare!! ๐Ÿค
Tumblr media
faustinaโ€™s skincare tips. แฅซแญก
just as a friendly reminder: everyone is different. no one has the exact same skin type/concerns, but iโ€™ll try to keep my list of tips more generalized so that anyone with any kind of skin type can take them into consideration!
Tumblr media
โ€” tip #1 : stop touching your face!
i used to be a chronic face toucher/picker and itโ€™s a habit thatโ€™s kind of hard to break! but think about it: your hands touch soooooo many different things throughout the day and that means thereโ€™s soooooo much bacteria, dirt, & grime probably sticking to your hands and when you go to touch your face, your just transferring all that bacteria onto your face! gross, right? stop touching your face!
picking at your pimples is also a huge no! picking at your acne can cause acne scarring, so leave your pimple alone! donโ€™t pick at it, donโ€™t try and pop it, just let it be and let your acne treatments do all the work!
pro tip โ€” wash your hands before doing any kind of skin care! make sure youโ€™re washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and make sure to scrub any and all surfaces of your hands!
โ€” tip #2 : change your pillowcase weekly!
this should be a given, but if you arenโ€™t already changing your pillowcases regularly then itโ€™s no wonder youโ€™re breaking out babe! thereโ€™s so much sweat, dirt, and bacteria that can build up in your pillowcase and, like with touching your face, can lead to all that ickiness transferring onto your face!
pro tip โ€” invest in a silk/satin pillowcase! not only will it benefit your hair, but itโ€™ll also benefit your skin!
โ€” tip #3 : start simple!
i know we all see these different viral skincare products that weโ€™re all dying to try, but do not try them all in one go! the more new products you try out at once, the harder itโ€™ll be to figure out which product is breaking you out if you have a bad reaction to something!
keep your skincare routine simple: face wash, toner, & moisturizer at night and toner, moisturizer, & spf in the morning! once you get a feel for the basics, then you can slowly start adding in new products!
pro tip โ€” an easy way of finding out your skin type is by washing your face with your usual cleanser and waiting 30 minutes afterwards to see how your skin feels! donโ€™t worry about using any other products!
if your skin looks extra shiny & feels kind of greasy, then you have oily skin
if your skin feels tight and looks patchy/flaky, then you have dry skin
if your forehead & nose feel greasy and look shiny, but your cheeks/chin area feel tight & look patchy/flaky, then you have combo skin
if your skin feels normal as in thereโ€™s no tightness, no dryness, no signs of oiliness, then you have normal skin
โ€” tip #4 : double cleanse!
double cleansing has been a non-negotiable for me! i used to remove my makeup with makeup wipes, but they never fully removed my makeup leaving me with a lot of residue & new breakouts. i also used micellar water, but it was about the same results as when i was using makeup wipes. i still use micellar water when i have a full beat on, but iโ€™ll only use it just to ensure that i got every last bit of makeup off!
i personally use the Anua Heartleaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil (the mild one!) as my first cleanse! i love that it doesnโ€™t clog my pores, leaves my skin feeling clean, & really helps to remove all the makeup, spf (yes, double cleansing also helps to remover sunscreen!), and any dirt & grime from the day! i then go in with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser for normal to dry skin as my second cleanse!
double cleansing just helps to make sure your skin is clean and free from anything that can cause new breakouts!
pro tip โ€” if you use an oil cleanser, be sure to emulsify it with water! always apply the oil cleanser onto dry skin, but before you completely rinse it off, splash your face with water and get your hands wet to start rubbing your face gently. youโ€™ll see the oil turn into a milky, white texture! thatโ€™ll be how you know youโ€™re emulsifying it! it just helps to make sure youโ€™re getting that oil cleanser off!
โ€” tip #5 : do your research!
thereโ€™s so many skincare products out there that people rave over, but before you go buy something thatโ€™s going viral, do your research! read product reviews, find people who have the same or similar skin type as you who are using the product, read the ingredients & make sure there isnโ€™t anything in the product that youโ€™ll have a bad reaction to!
make sure youโ€™re looking for and researching products for your skin type! just because a product may say โ€œbest for all skin typesโ€ doesnโ€™t mean it will actually be the best for you! so donโ€™t be afraid to do deep dives on different skincare products!
final notes โ€”
skincare is a lot of trial and error. youโ€™re going to try different products and some may be a god-send for you while some may send you ten steps backwards! there may even be some products you try that just donโ€™t do anything for you! and thatโ€™s okay! you have to figure out what works best for you and your skin, but let your skincare journey be something fun! after all, it is a form of self care!
with lots of love, faustina ๐ŸŒท

things that make my mornings a million times betterโ‹†.เณƒเฟ”*:๏ฝฅ๐ŸŽ€
Tumblr media
AN EARLY START ;
the only way that i can enjoy my mornings is if i have plenty of time to do what i need, without being too in a rush yk? so i'll sleep early and wake up relatively early so that i have adequate time to myself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
another thing that i have been incorporating into my morning routine is no scroll mornings bcuz i dont want doom scrolling to sap up my getting ready time in the morning, cuz im worth every minute of time i put into preparing myself for a successful day.
MORNING WORKOUT ;
i almost always work out in the morning, the only time that i won't is if i wanna head to the gym later on in the day, after school or whatever. so i always leave out weights and resistance bands for myself to use in the morning.
i have the workout that im doing already decided in my agenda on my notion and one that i do often, i'll link right here bcuz its rly easy and light for the morning which is just what i like.
ADEQUATE PAMPER TIME ;
i want to have as much time as possible to make myself look my very best bcuz getting dolled up and pampering myself helps me just as much mentally as it does physically.
before i take my shower and get ready and alladat i always have some chlorophyll water first thing bcuz its easily absorbed first thing in the morning along with lots of other benefits which i talked about in the it girls magazine.
HEADSPACE ;
i always wanna start my day off by being in the right headspace so as i go about my morning i like to say/think affirmations that are more self concept focused to get me in the best headspace before starting my day.
this is a rly short post but i like to keep my morning routine pretty simple cuz most of the intricacies of it involve my pamper time and routine but i like to just have time to relax โœจ
