A scene I want in Season 2 (I would place it in probably episode 3, covering chapters 8-10, which I would title "We Board the Princess Andromeda")
INT. HALFBLOOD HIDEOUT - EVENING. THALIA and YOUNG ANNABETH are inside the hideout. Three sleeping bags are set out and the girls are cleaning up a meal and reorganizing their belongings. YOUNG ANNABETH: (huffs) Annabeth is clearly frustrated, pulling a twig out of her hair as she tries to focus on her task. THALIA: Hey, Annie. Let me help. Thalia approaches, assisting Annabeth with the cleaning. Annabeth pulls something else out of her hair. YOUNG ANNABETH: I just wish it was gone! THALIA: Is your hair bothering you? YOUNG ANNABETH: I just can't keep it from getting tangled in everything. THALIA: Can I help? I'll pick the leaves out and then maybe we can tie it up better? Annabeth nods, sitting on the floor to give Thalia a better view. Thalia carefully removes leaves and twigs. YOUNG ANNABETH: When is Luke coming back? THALIA: He should be back soon, he just went to go see... if he could find more supplies. Thalia seems unsure, but Annabeth happily accepts the answer. YOUNG ANNABETH: I'm sure he will. Luke is very smart. Thalia nods thoughtfully, finishing removing debris from the younger girl's hair. THALIA: All done. Now, what should we do with it? YOUNG ANNABETH: (thoughtful) Well, my dad took me to get it braided once, and that stayed really well, but it took forever. And I don't know if you know how to do that. THALIA: I don't think so, kiddo. Sorry. I'll learn. YOUNG ANNABETH: Maybe you could just tie it back like yours? Thalia frowns, looking at the afro. THALIA: Not exactly like mine, but maybe... Can I try something? We can figure something else out if you don't like it. Annabeth nods, and Thalia gets to work separating her hair and pulling it into two buns on top of her head. THALIA (cont): I don't know if that'll help it get less tangled, but maybe we can try it? YOUNG ANNABETH: It'll be better. Thank you! Annabeth hugs Thalia.

About bucktommy and 911 in general
You know, in the end, this just feels extremely cheap and cruel.
Showing bucktommy be incandescently happy in all the episodes but 8.6? Even in this ep you can feel how much they care and genuinely love each other. Audience was largely optimistic and excited about them, in a way we have never seen for other buck's LI.
Only to what? Throw it all away because you can't be bothered to write a satisfactory arc for them? Because Buck is the epitome of the guy who dates a lot but always gets broken up with? That to be able to decide if you want to be in a committed relationship if you are bi you have to explore first or else your decision is null and void?
What a way to waste potential and your characters arc.
The special thing about Tommy was that he was beloved by not only bucktommy fans, but GA, and most importantly he was a sort of representation we don't see all that much in media. People loved him because they saw themselves in him, they could connect to his journey and they were genuinely rooting for him to find love and family with Buck. To waste it all away, and to do so by basically throw at us all that we loved about them is unnecessarily cruel.
What hurts the most is that even buck and tommy themselves didn't want to break up. but instead they "must" because bowing down to harmful stereotypes about bi people who are "confused and so they must experiment before settling" is more important than telling a compelling story.
Even without bt break up, I feel like this season took a sharp dive for the worst about well thought storylines in a way that baffles him. Gerrard was reduced to a joke, as was Ortiz, both pgs that could have been used to create compelling arcs that intertwined the 118 even more but instead we got this cheap throwaway joke of a Gerrard, Ortiz was basically throw out of office in a single ep. Hotshot sl could have been fun but instead it's just.... there. And coming back too just for funsies, cause apparently that sl was more important to develop instead of a interesting queer relationship.
Athena once again doing copaganda. Bobby coming back to the 118 without any particular struggle or even guilt about dropping the bag. Things said in interviews that we expect to happen and never even made it to the screen (Eddie's loneliness? Chim and Hen having conflict over Mara? Buck feeling guilty about injuring Gerrard?).
The way Maddie cannot have any sl that is not either tied to a man or about motherhood. Madney having another surprise baby instead of them choosing on purpose to expand their family. Hen & Karen gaining trauma after trauma about their children and not having any other sl that is not tied to that. Josh just existing in the periphery and only becoming important as the "insightful token gay" but not having any type of meaningful screen time since Carson.
The other side characters like Sue, Ravi, Linda, Carla completely disappearing without anyone mentioning them. Ravi has not been given any important sl ever since he talked about having cancer and ever since reduced as a comic relief without anything to add to his character but he's a "landlord".
Chris is out of the picture for who knows how long, and is basically kept around to be traumatized over and over again. Eddie hasn't gotten any character development until first s5 and seemingly now, but i'd argue that the whole thing just felt rushed because what do you mean it takes one chat with a priest for him to do a 180° while he still isn't talking to Chris? And Eddie was the one who got the best treatment of all of them this season.
It's the way this show is slowly chipping itself away. It's the way they start a queer story line promising it would be impactful and handled with care and then half-assing it a best. It's the way the other queer characters are never explored and able to breath and revel in their queerness in the first place. Because, really, when was the last time Hen and Karen kissed on screen? When was the last time they went on a date? When was the last time their arcs were not about children or getting hurt, but just about them as individuals? And on this thread what about Maddie? Or Josh? Or Chim? Or Eddie?
Everything feels reused again and again and again without no real development than then starting the circle all over in half a season.
What a waste.

The signs and clues that always pointed towards Stella being a shitty mother to Octavia.
A revamp of an old post that I really should've gotten to earlier but hey, I'm in the mood now to catalogue literally everything pointing to Stella being a shit and neglectful mother.
Evidence 1: S1 E2.
Pay attention to the fact that Stella is not concerned in the slightest about the fact that Octavia is very clearly upset and is actively calling for both her and Stolas, which is very obviously seen by the fact by she makes Stolas deal with Octavia, not even bothering to even move a muscle to help calm Octavia down, already showing us our first signs of Stella being a neglectful mother towards Octavia.
Plus, Octavia's nightmare was specifically about her not being able to find Stolas, Stella wasn't involved in the nightmare at all, which I believe was another very intentional writing decision to subtly point to how little Stella is involved in Octavia's life.

To add onto this, look at some of the drawings that Octavia drew as a child that we see in the same episode, pay close attention to the rightmost drawing, we see a drawing of both Stolas and Octavia, but what I find interesting is the fact that we don't see Stella in any of the drawings at all, in pictures like that drawn by young children you'd normally expect the whole family to be in the picture or there to be another drawing including Stella, but we don't see that happen at all, we only see a drawing of specifically Octavia and Stolas, also giving us another clue that Stella isn't involved in Octavia's life much.

This appears to be a pattern as well, in Sinsmas we see yet another drawing of specifically her and Stolas, with us still not having any drawings of Stella, only Stolas.
Which I believe shuts down the argument that I've heard before that goes something like 'there could be more drawings that we haven't seen yet', because the team is 100% making it a recurring pattern that Stella is suspiciously absent from Octavia's life for the most part, as we can infer from these drawings.
Evidence 2: Literal fucking child abuse.
I think we can all agree that this section of s1 e2 is just Stella blatantly committing domestic violence against violence against Stolas, not even bothering to give a single fuck that Octavia is awake and is actively witnessing the event go down, showing us even further how self-centered and neglectful Stella is,

and giving us airtight evidence of Stella committing child abuse, by actively abusing Stolas right in front of her.

Evidence 3: Stolas' assassination plot.
Other than the fact that Stella is completely willing to rob her own child out of a caring and loving father to fuel her own self-centered agenda without even a second thought, as is most obviously seen by this scene where Stella literally screams that she wants Stolas dead right in front of Octavia as well. (The fact she was wearing headphones is entirely irrelevant to the point I'm making, she still said all of that right in front of Octavia.)
Which very clearly shows us just how self-centered Stella is, and how little she actually cares about Octavia's feelings as well.

Which is something we see happen again in that conversation with Andrealphus in s2 e4, alongside not giving a single fuck about how Octavia might feel if her dad is killed, we also see that Stella literally did not even consider Octavia into her self-centered assassination plan before this point, so forget about Stella caring for Octavia emotionally, she never even really considered Octavia in a practical sense as well, because truth be told, I cannot attribute that moment in the show happening purely because Stella is just being stupid.
It very clearly shows that Stella is purely interested in what she wants, her own agenda.

Evidence 4: "You leave with Via on weekends."
We never see this get expanded on at all, it's literally just that and nothing else, we don't hear any specifics of what Stella does with Octavia while she has her for the weekends, which if we consider how Stella behaved during the whole of Sinsmas, it really points to the fact that Stella did not make any attempt to bond with Octavia at all while she had her over the weekends, instead just choosing to her own shit while leaving Octavia to her own devices all the time, showing even further how absent Stella is in Octavia's life.
Not to mention Stella literally sidetracks that line from Stolas with "I like tormenting you."

Evidence 5: "What? No! I'm not turning her against you--"
Let's be real here, we all know that Stella doesn't care for Octavia, not to mention that Stella was already screaming at Stolas over petty shit before this, so it's pretty obvious to me that Stella is not actually worried about Stolas turning Octavia against her, it just screams like she's using that as a weaponized statement of sorts against Stolas instead of actual concern.

Plus, that's very clearly also just Stella projecting like crazy, as we can see by the fact that Stella is literally just insulting Stolas right in front of Octavia as well, calling him a deadbeat in this scene.
Evidence 6: "I'm glad one egg fell out of me."
The fact that Stella called Octavia as "an egg" has always irked me, like, out of any possible way she could've phrased that statement she chooses the one way that refers to Octavia as "an egg", instead of saying something like her name or her daughter for instance, which even furthers points to me that Stella does not care for Octavia at all.

Plus, this is also a pattern, we see a very similar event play out in Sinsmas as well.
Instead of saying something like Octavia's name or our daughter for instance, she chooses to say "his daughter", Stolas' daughter, which really gives me the impression that Stella doesn't even consider Octavia to be her daughter, something that appears to be further backed up by the fact that Stella referred to Octavia as "an egg" in s2 e1.
You could argue against this point, but personally I really think it was an intentional decision to have Stella say "his daughter" for this exact reason.
Evidence 7: The portraits.
The main example here has to be the Loo Loo Land picture, and I say that because of the fact that you can see Stolas actually be happy in this picture, while if you look at Stella, that smile is barely there for her, like she's forcing herself to smile.
Plus, you can see the fact that she also has her arms crossed, which while I could be reading into this a bit too much, I believe further points to the fact that Stella is not happy to be at Loo Loo Land with Octavia at all, and is forcing herself to smile as a result.
Plus, in Sinsmas we also see quite a few new portraits involving Stolas, Stella and Octavia.
Let's look at the first one, we see something extremely similar to the Loo Loo Land picture, we see that smile from Stella that appears to be barely there while Stolas has the whole open mouth smile thing going on with him, and she's also crossing her arms in that portrait as well, further pointing me to the fact that Stella doesn't even want to be in those family portraits at all, which really points me to the conclusion that Stella doesn't care to be in Octavia's life at all unless necessary for whatever reason.
Plus, I want you to pay attention to the 2nd and 3rd portraits here, pay attention to the fact that while Stolas' smile fades significantly with each progressing picture, Stella's smile seems to grow and grow, which if we remember the line of "I like tormenting you.", very clearly shows us that Stella is taking joy in beating Stolas down, taking joy in tormenting Stolas on a daily basis, not because she actually cares for Octavia at all, she is smiling in those two portraits because she takes joy in tormenting Stolas and nothing else, further showing just how self-centered and cruel Stella really is.

Evidence 8: Parental Isolation.
Again, let's look at this scene early on into the Sinsmas episode, we see Stella completely snatch and confiscate Octavia's phone from her the moment Stolas tries to call her in order to make contact with her following the Mastermind episode, and we know that Stella has never given Octavia her phone back at all during the month that passes in this episode, considering that Stella says that Stolas has been trying to reach Octavia for a whole month, and the fact that when we see Octavia again later on in the episode, instead of having her phone, we see her holding some sort of music player that really looks like an iPod.
Which in turn, shows us that Stella is employing a parental isolation tactic by preventing Stolas from making contact with Octavia via phone calls and/or messages. It is also completely irrelevant to discuss the specific reasons as to why Stella did this as well, what actually matters is the fact that Stella confiscated Octavia's phone from her, which in turn, helps to prevent a method Stolas had to easily make contact with Octavia, which in turn makes me believe that this is a parental isolation tactic that Stella used here.
With parental isolation also being commonly referred to as a form of child abuse as well.
So in conclusion, I have pointed to a number of different ways throughout the show that shows just how much Stella was absent in Octavia's life, alongside her also being neglectful and abusive towards Octavia as well.

About not respecting your audiences intelligence and time
It’s so fucking funny that the show is failing and getting dragged.
I mean it. It’s so funny to me. Not out of spite (well kinda) but this is not a shipper note. It’s about author intention vs audience.
This show was praise by critics and audiences. The dialogue, the themes, everything was raw and interesting, but mostly, intentional. I’ll say both in s1 and s2 there is not a second waisted
But this last two seasons could have been one. Definitely.
There is also the shipping component. I was talking to @alwaysshipping1 about the possibility of sydcarmy being created later in the development of the show. I do think Sydney was introduced like a possible love interest. But I think storer was not planning having Carmy end up with anybody when he pitched the show, the idea of sydcarmy could have come from executives as a way to bait audiences into watching such a emotional heavy show (it definitely feels like baiting right now)
Let’s pretend for a minute Claire is supposed to be Carmy’s endgame. I don’t believe it but lest go with it. She maybe have been written badly and then acted awfully by Molly. I liked her previous work so if she is not indeed playing Claire as insufferable as she comes across, then…
At some point and author has to be mature enough to revise their capacity of delivering the message they intended. If is not clicking, rubbing it all again is always gonna feel like betraying your audience intelligence. You cannot make fixes to a character after having them for almost 20 episodes, unless you address the things that were previously misrepresented by your writing, that has happened. They stir into making Claire feel shallow/sus for two seasons and then they make her a lot more human (at least to me) this season, and still feels wrong because the things that bothered me about their relationship are never address as bad things. And yet, they only managed to make her more human by her expressing her hopes and fears about their relationship, her personality is still shallow as fuck.
But lest pretend there is Claire twist coming. Maybe she hooked up with Michael idk. Maybe she is indeed a narcissist and that’s why she sometimes displays lacks of empathy (seeming shallow) and has this need to be pleasant with everyone out of the need of being praise.
Even though, this show took the indulgence of waisting people’s times. Maybe the network got greedy. Maybe Storer wanted to display more symptoms of cptsd or complete what I suspect is a “suicide arc” in the sense Carmy had to loss all the parts of himself that he used to hide from his issues, the job, his skill, the relationship, his family. I have more thoughts in that but to get to the point…
Mental health arcs are incredibly difficult but they are manageable. This show is not failing because is about mental health, it’s because things that have been set since s1 and s2, the cleaner in writing, have still not been closed or properly address. Blaming the shippers for hating the show is bonkers, is not like Ted lasso was bagged because tedbecca didn’t happen, The Punisher was still top tier even when the main ship was set as platonic for a fourth season.
Mr Robot was a show about a hacker with extreme mental issues and a victim of CSA, and the show was fucking excellent, also without delivering on a promised ship. Plenty of sydcarmys have said: coupling characters doesn’t have to be the point
You are supposed to give payoffs and promises constantly. Again, this last two seasons could have been one. And the audience must be respected, if you had to rewrite Claire, you had to do it fully. All the things that the audience loved were eliminated or disorganized and the things people disliked are getting even more featured.
Even if all the issues with the character do have payoff, THEY ARE BASICALLY LEAVING IT ALL to the fucking last minute. A whole season of all payoff. How was the audience ever gonna be willingly invested in that?

as much as i LOVE the ending to mob psycho 100 (truly a beautiful way to wrap everything up) the one thing that bothers me most is shou’s character development
I think it’s specifically because of his lack of screen time and ONE trying to keep the manga 100 chapters long but he really shot himself in the foot with that. Mostly everyone was written well but I feel like he ran out of time to write everything he really wanted (remember that off handed remark about an esper awakening from Claws horrifying chambers? never brought up again). I feel like for the most part, every other character has a satisfying ending. It aligns with their goals. Serizawa finally feels like he is contributing good to society. Teru understands he isn’t special but hey, nobody is. Reigen isn’t alone anymore. Ritsu and Mob have come to accept Mob for who he is and have started the process of moving on from their trauma. Shou has… well he beat his father. but that wasn’t really him. That was Mob. He spent his whole life coming up with ways to get Toichiro to see some sense and in the end, it had to be someone else. Not him. Not his son. Do you think he ever moved on from that? Do you think he knows he has to? He can technically live his life “normally” now but can he? We can’t even know how he’s dealing with everything because he doesn’t show up in season three at all until like episode 11 (NOT counting the maid cafe scene although it was undeniably really funny). and the thing he takes away from his experience fighting Mob?

BROTHER THEY MADE A WHOLE SHOW ABOUT WHY YOU SHOULDN’T DO THAT. YOU’RE IN THAT SHOW. It almost feels like he’s going backwards??? Like I understand where he’s coming from, and for my own peace of mind i’ve been trying to think he meant it for like violence. but i cannot stop thinking of a Shou that quit using his powers entirely. i literally stopped typing this post and stared at the ceiling rn because of it. like i’m not crazy right?? i can’t be the only one who feels like something is missing about his character??? that CAN’T be what he walks away with
Also this might be a “and the curtains were blue” moment but i also want to talk about this omake
Yeah sure it’s devastating but then I actually started thinking about it. The title is called “Suzuki Shou 13 Years old.” Which is interesting to me because Shou was 12 almost the whole story. His birthday is in december (RIP). He turned 13 like just a month before the confession arc took place. The only thing i don’t know is if he has this dream before or after. I really hope it’s before because if he had this dream post confession arc then ouch???? ?? because if it’s after then that means he clearly hasn’t moved on from everything?? he’s still being haunted by his origin?? and we’re never gonna see him ever move on?? ONE i’m going to kill you and then kill you again make a shou spin off NEOW
#sorry i’ve been thinking about him a lot#like. way too much#especially about this#on a more light hearted note#as i was making the ID for the omake i realized it kinda implies that#1) shou has been styling his hair like That since he was a child (which is also shown in a flashback)#and 2) he keeps his hair styled like that even when he sleeps. i know that mf’s hair crunchy#also i do understand that ONE makes errors#so thats why i mentioned “the curtains were blue”#cuz he did make inukawa’s birthday a leap year… on a year where there wasn’t a leap year#i just like overthinking hehe (lie)#mob psycho 100#mp100#shou suzuki

please give us the full rant 🤲
My Race to the Edge hottakes (this gonna be a tad long so strap in):
Take the twins for example: Both of them care for their respective sibling, they are codependent really, but what relationship do they have to the other team members, never mind what other relationship do they have that you could call a *friendship*? I'd say Hiccup is mostly annoyed by their antics, a feeling he also has for Snotlout but their feelings for one another are a lot more complex, whereas his opinion of the twins is pretty straightforward, their feelings for Hiccup just vary depending on what joke the episode is going for at the time. I couldn't tell you anything about the twins and Fishlegs relationship because there’s just not really anything there and Astrid generally dislikes them for their behavior. The one actually clearly established dynamic they have is with Snotlout, and it perplexes me that people so often read it as a friendship. Snotlout thinks of them as stupid and beneath him, i cannot think of a single time outside of the Tufflout bromance ep where he had a nice thing to say about either of the two, when Tuff faked his death Snotlout seemed to believe that he had actually died and he wasn't bothered at all. The twins on the other hand see him as a useful idiot for their scemes, they couldn't care less if he dropped dead either and put in him mortal danger on multiple occasions just for the hell of it. What binds them together is not so much a friendship as it is their shared rambunctious attitude and dislike of authority.
1. The riders really aren't that good of friends, if you can call them friends at all. Were you to draw a diagramm of their relationships with eachother, a lot of them either have no close established connection or feel active animosity towards one another.
This doesn’t count for only them ofc: what established friendship is there between Fishlegs and Astrid? Can the relationship between Snotlout and Fishlegs or him and Astrid really reasonably be called a friendship? Sure people can create headcanons and whatnot but if you look at what's provided by the canon, they’re just not that close
2. I don't have any strong feelings on Heather, i just think it's funny that she kind of reads like an edgy DeviantArt Astrid recolor. Oh Astrid fights with a battle axe? Well Heather actually crafted one herself, and it's a cool changeable twinblade. Astrid has a spike shooting, super fast dragon with fire so hot it's tinted blue? Well Heathers dragon can do all that BUT her dragon is even faster AND it's spikes are even sharper AND its fire is all blue actually AND it's made out of metal. The whole construction of her outfit with the single braid, metal shoulderpads and skirt with metal elements is extremely similar to Astrids design. I feel like they could have that be a plot point actually, that Astrid in particular was a huge inspiration to her. You can see it as intentional parallels ofc but it’s so on the nose that it becomes kinda funny, at least to me (also the dragon eye lens on her belt plot point was incredibly stupid)
3. Speaking of Astrid, and this is the take that is most likely to get people mad at me, i do not like her. Like at all. When i was younger i thought i just couldn't stand her because she was mean to Snotlout and i liked Snotlout but as i grew up i realized there was more to it that just that. To me she's emblematic of a trend in writing: (usually male) writers set out to write a "strong female character in a effort to create good female representation, but because their idea of a strong character is a toxicly masculine tough guy, they just slap those characteristics on a female character and call it a day. Said character is then admired by the rest of the cast because that's how to author sees her, even though she's kind of an asshole.
That’s Astrid to me. I don't find the way she's presented as being in the right for being rude to everyone but a select very few people charming, i don't find the miriad of moments where she wins an argument with violence and it's presented a girlboss moment cool. Keep in mind i don't take an issue with any character, fem or not, being rude or violent, it's how the narrative and the other characters act towards her that make me dislike this.
I also find it bizarre that people defend her behavior by saying that she's a competent person under pressure, as if that justifies being a dick. I can very easily see a version of her that i'd like, an Astrid that's allowed to be in the wrong, that's allowed to be flawed, an Astrid that's largely the same and just not treated like she’s infallible by the marrative. I that's kind of what we get in the first movie and the shorts imo and i do like in those. The way the later movies turn Astrid into a neutered version of herself that purely exists to hype up Hiccup is deeply offputting to me however
4. I'm not a big fan of the twins either, i liked them a little more in the first movie and RoB/DoB but their brand of humor in rtte just doesn't do it for me
5. Snotlouts crush on Thor Bonecrusher is one giant gay joke and and both Astrid and Hiccup find it funny and bizarre because it's a gay crush. They don't react like that when Fishlegs and Snotlout fight over Ruffnut, we only see Astrid be annoyed and weirded out by it but not her finding it actively hilarous. "Well it's funny because it's so over the top" whenever Astrid sees Snotlout crush on/flirt with women she reacts with annoyance/disgust, the ONE TIME it's a guy it's suddenly very funny. I'm not saying this to condemn her or Hiccup, it's moreso to point out that the way this entire plotline was handled was just kinda bizarre and fucked up.
On a character level i actually think Astrid being homophobic kinda works, for lack of a better term. She's very much a person who works within and benefits from the status quo. People like to talk about how Snotlouts world was thrown upside down after the first movie because the standards for what makes a good viking changed but by all metrics he never really managed to match those standards anyways (unlike Astrid, we never actually see him being a good warrior in the first movie and judging by RoB/Dob, he seems to have been generally disliked in the village for a while). Astrid however did manage to meet those expectations. And she continues to afterwards. She's an excellent warrior, strong and assertive. Her being a women would make life harder for her but we never she her face any gendered discrimination, she thrives in the role of the ideal viking. So her holding some normative believes tied to the status quo in which she thrives makes sense to me
6. This is a big one and it will take a bit for ne to explain: I don't think Snotlout's a sexist. Now, first off I should clarify, I'm not just saying this because I don't want a character that I love to be a misoginist. I think flaws, especially grave ones, make characters more interesting and some of my all time faves have some extremely warped views on women. I say this because of the way his supposed sexism is presented. I'd argue that the primary function Snotlouts obnoxious flirting serves is to be an example of what not to do and to make over characters, mainly Hiccup, look better in comparison.
In this franchise female affection is given as a reward to male characters, not necessarily because there’s chemistry between the two. In the Thawfest episode Hiccup gets a kiss from Astrid after doing what she asked him to by letting Snotlout win. There was no romantic tension between them here, there wasn't anything romantic about what he did either. He did the right thing, he gets a reward. Same with Snotlout and Minden: he does the right thing by encouraging her so he gets a kiss. Neither one of them expresses any romantic interest in the other before or after this, Snotlout looks put off the kiss it more than anything, it’s just the thing that happens when you're nice to a girl. That’s the point of Heathers fling with Fishlegs as well. Not to step on any Heathlegs shippers toes here but they don't really have any chemistry. Their episode underlines my point however: Snotlout spends the whole time being jealous and Astrid explains to him that Heather probably likes guys like Fishlegs, guys who are nice. Which is a good quality yes, but it’s not really solid grounds for a relationship. We don't get to see what they like about eachother bejond that, and we don't need to either, because that's not the point. The point is that Fishlegs is a nice guy, so he gets to date a pretty girl.
Snotlouts behavior exists as the counterbalance to that point: if ur mean and pushy = no gf. On the face of it that's a fine lesson to teach in a kids show. The problem is that Snotlouts flirting is so unrealistic and detached from the rest of his character that it fails to send any meaningful message. The way he talks when he's flirting has nothing to do with the way real people flirt or the way Snotlout acts otherwise. It's a weird mix of one-liners and purple pros is more reminiscent of 80s movie villians than real life. He still flirts with Astrid, despite getting his shit kicked in for YEARS and openly being afraid of her at this point. It's very interesting that he never talks to Thor Bonecrusher that way, when he has such an obvious crush on him. The reason for that in my opinion is that the TB crush serves as a gay joke, whereas his other crushes serve as a negative example. Put in a scenario where he's romantically interested in someone and doesn't have to fullfill his role as an inverted moral compass, Snotlout doesn't do his weird flirting. He still fails of course, the argument isn't that he should be getting more tail, he just doesn't turn into a parody of himself for a brief physical gag.
Another problem is that the way he acts is incongruous with how he sees women. The reason why men ignore womens boundaries and don't take no for an awnser is because they see them as lesser, as unworthy of their respect. That’s not the case for Snotlout though. We never see him express that he thinks of women as less competent, more fragile or less intelligent (i think he calls Astrids and Ruffnuts figures "dragon-esque" once during the first movie but one comment calling some women unattractive doesn't really equate to being a misoginist that has so little respect for women that he bothers the same one for years even though she says no everytime). He oversteps Astrids boundaries but he has no doubt in her abilities, it’s the symptom without the cause.
Even if we were to take Snotlout at face value as a misoginist, where does that come from? Misoginistic men aren't outliers, they're byproducts of a sexist culture. But the writers clearly don't think of Berk that way, Hiccup even says so when Throk comes to take Ruffnut (i'll add here that Hiccup is usually presented as being in the right unless him being wrong is explicitly adressed in the plot but i digress). Astrid faces no discrimination whatsoever as a female warrior and receives no pushback when leading a team full of men. In fact Spitelout, the inofficial source of most of Snotlouts harmful beliefs, has no problem whatsoever with having a women less than half his age as his superior.
Now, there is no doubt that Berk is a sexist society, women are litteraly barred from becoming chief, but it’s interesting that it seemingly not thought of and never adressed as such. That would make Snotlouts sexism not a product of his enviroment or of his upbringing but an exception, a singular weirdo, who thinks of women as competent equals but also sometimes has a switch flip in his brain that makes him pester them in increasingly ridiculous ways.
I'd actually argue that the single most sexist thing Snotlout does is that he stops flirting with Astrid as soon as her and Hiccup are dating. Because that implies that her baundaries are only to be respected once another man has claimed her. But the reason was most likely that him flirting with the mcs now canon girlfriend would generate too much comflict, whereas him hitting on her badly before they're a couple and failing just makes Hiccup look good in comparison.
Honestly if Snotlout was a proper sexist and we saw him grappling with- and overcoming that belief Sokka style that would have made for an engaging plotline. Snotlouts' Angels was probably intended to be just that but it failed. Snotlout acts entitled around the Wingmaidens (and yes, him saying that Astrid and Ruffnut should serve him like they do is a sexist statement), but he pretty much always acts entitled. He doesn’t really learn any lesson about women or his own behavior, he just prattfalls all over their island for 20 minutes and then says sorry to Astrid at the end
7. Speaking of the Wingmaidens i find it incredibly funny that 1: One of the only factions containing poc characters (none of them with any lines ofc) are implied to be cannibals, and that 2: they're never actually shown to NOT be cannibals. Like yes, the implication is that they lie to Snotlout to scare him after being a shitty guest, but they never resolve that misgiving. At the end of the episode the gang is feasting with a group of people who threatened to eat one of them, which he told them about, and as far as we know they just never cleared that up.
Also if they weren’t gonna eat Snotlout, what was their plan for him? To just keep this man imprisoned indefinitely for the crime of being an annoying little shit, on your all women island? Either send him away or kill him and in that case you might as well just eat him tbh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
8. The music score annoys me. It's not bad necessarily but every scene, no matter how trivial, has a whole orchestra playing in the background and it just gets on my nerves after a while
9. Finally, i cannot take Viggo seriously. Everything about him just feels like the parts of better villians were hastily stiched together and all i can see are the seams. The chess game is incredibly corny, the pretentious way he talks and the way he walks with his arms crossed behind his back, it all comes across as so deeply unserious that he feels more like a larper to me, rather than an organic part of this world, never mind an actually intimidating villian
thank you for the ask, it's still crazy to me that anyone outside of my friend circle would listen to me talk about Snotlout and rtte in general and i appreciate all of the questions and suggestions, even if i can't get to them all in a timely manner <3
If you've read this far you're super cool and i love you, thanks for listening to me ramble for a bit. Even though i have a lot to critique for rtte i still look back on it quite fondly and it gave me my favorite iteration of my all time favorite character so i'll always be grateful for that
Also to you anon: I'm so sorry that i got back to you this late, i typed this all out in a haze and then put off finishing it once i saw just how much i wrote 😭

Ok I watched the leaked episodes
Let’s start with the positives! I love positives!
- Alex Brightman put his whole Alexussy into this shit oh my god, Pentious and Adam actually sound really good. Adam singing is also really really good. Alex can sing in character and carry things well and I’m glad now he’s part of the project. Because at least it’ll be bearable if I see the other episodes.
-Vox is actually weirdly really compelling? Like I actually ended up enjoying the vibe he’s got and his own voice grew on me, I know it’s not what people wanted but it works well.
-Nifty’s voice is pretty ok, so is Charlie’s. They’re some of the better voices of the cast, Alastor’s performance was uh. It wasn’t bad so there’s that!
-the opening exposition was needed but also a bit hamfisted- wait shit the positives- uh, I love the direction it went? Art wise?
-the songs are pretty good, they get you from point A to point B, and at least wasn’t Poison levels of cringe in writing.
-Charlie actually helping Pentious in episode 2 try to repent and be a better person actually feels nice, like a crumb of what the show should of be-
…
Ok let’s get to the point.
-the episodes clearly are trying to shove as much of the plot as humanly possible, to the point that you get whiplash.
-Angel Dust, Vaggie, Valentino, Husk all have voices that either do not fit, crack from the pressure to perform, or are trying so hard to mimic the previous voice that it’s actually worrying. The Angel dust one in particular I’ll get to when I get to the point.
-The plot starts with the main antagonist, literally telling Charlie that her plan is pointless and she should give up. There’s no actual “I want” song to counter this, unless you count the song where Adam mocks her for trying and tells her the exterminations will happen twice a year now.
-Pentious at least wasn’t a creep like i was fearing in the script, but he comes off too pathetic? Like I know he was pathetic and that’s the point but why the fuck does he want to be equal to the Vees now? Didn’t he want to rule over hell himself? I know the instagram had him crop himself into pictures with the Vees but remember those aren’t canon!
-I realized I was able to hop in because I had Wikipedia level knowledge of these characters to the point they click in my head (and enough to where Alastor, Charlie, Vaggie and Husk all felt a little off but that’s neither here nor there). But god I cannot imagine being a new person trying to jump into this show, this is bad. None of the characters get actually introduced outside of Charlie, the show references the pilot which isn’t part of the show so new audiences have no idea what they’re talking about, and the staff gets actually introduced in episode 2. EPISODE 2, TO PENTIOUS!? GIRLIE POP HAVE HIM COME EPISODE 1 THEN?
-Animation that’s either too floaty, too janky, too stiff or straight up traced. Which I don’t blame the animators for, Mammon was busy buying 10,000 dollars worth of peacocks to bother paying them more than a dollar per frame. There’s no charm here.
-Where did the fucking cat key come from? No I’m serious. Where did it come from? It just kinda exists now.
-Alastor’s commercial is just straight up MEAN and he’s often more mean than chaotic, which I know is ironic since he wasn’t a good person and I wasn’t expecting him to be but it’s to a point where it’s not even fun mean. He literally called Charlie’s endeavor “Daddy issues”. It felt like he was just there to slap Charlie in the face.
-Angel Dust rant is gonna be so long that I saved it for last.
I have to put it under the read more because of talk of SA! Fun!
Ok.
I’m saying this as someone who loved him from the pilot and was willing to excuse his behavior as “flaws he can work on” since Addict and everything else proved that there was more under the surface and he was a character that could change and grow and-

…

…
Angel dust, the rape victim… the guy running away from his abuser…

The Angel dust who has traumatic episodes so fucking graphic that he flashes back to them when he’s performing.
Saying “yeah no, fucking sexually exploit me! It turns me on!”
Viv, I know you’re not reading this but I mean this genuinely.
Fuck you.
As someone who’s family has experienced sexual abuse, as someone who’s family still has CPTSD because men in power decide to exploit them… how fuckin dare you make a character enjoy their own exploitation.
This isn’t me kink shaming a sexual character! He can be sexual and like sex! It’s never been the problem and hell it could of been liberation to have sex he deserves.
But no.
Let’s make the SA victim into the sexual harassment character, let’s make the SA victim the Stolas of the show where he wears down his love interest so thin that they have to give up.
Let’s make the SA victim still work under his shitty abuser, and make that into a joke as the abuser mentions wanting to rape everyone in the hotel.
Don’t pay to watch this show, I mean it.
Pirate it.
Hell don’t even watch it, find something better to watch. I’ve been binging anime as of late and I still like captain lazerhawk.
#hazbin leaks#hazbin hotel critical#oh yeah btw I reneg my statement of letting go of Angel dust#I’m stealing his ass#Viv stole from people anyways#Angel dust is now my character and I am keeping him away from Valentino#The radio dust au is gonna be my comfort from this

As promised, my commentary on Hunter.... to the people that like him, im sorry.
Spoiler warnings and the like, this is pretty negative aside from like maybe three sentences?? Feel free to leave you're own opinions on this too ofc !!! >:)
I dont like Hunter.
Actually, that's not entirely true, I liked him in TCW season 7, when he was that silly man who fucked droids around the place, took no shit, and loved his brothers. I like the Hunter who, not putting this nicely, had a personality.
This is not a dig on him as a character, it's a dig on how he was handled, writing wise
Listen, I totally get that the "rugged-man-adopts-a-star-child" trope is popular, and I do LOVE that trope, really I do- I just don't really think it was done that well here? It's bothered me since s1 of the Bad Batch, and I don't think it's going to get any better this season....
My only real problem with the writing inconsistency of Hunter being an older brother of three to "Omega this, Omega that" and while I agree childcare is SUPER difficult at the best of times, Hunter had four brothers who were equally capable of taking care of Omega, too. It just never sat right with me that taking care of her became his ENTIRE personality
Hes a soldier, who despite being completely out of his element, had a routine he strictly followed for the whole war. Yet he seemed to completely forget about that ?? Stressed or not stressed, that worn in routines and LIFELONG LESSONS should not have left his head as quickly as they seemed to.
The most obvious and frustrating example of the oversimplification of Hunter's character is with Crosshair. I cannot even BEGIN to describe my anger when it comes to Hunter and Crosshair. It mainly stems from the way he just FORGETS his brother is with the Empire. Conveniently never bringing it up unless someone else did it first.
As the oldest sibling and squad leader, I personally think Hunter should have been the one to bring him up. It should not have had to be specifically mentioned by another character for Hunter to discuss it. He loves his brothers, he loved Crosshair, broody or not, he should have brought it up AT LEAST once, imo.
We also see this complete disregard for Crosshair AGAIN in s3, now that we have seen Hunter looking for Omega and not ONCE mentioning Crosshair. Has he forgotten that they were originally going to find Crosshair??? That they never actually FOUND their brother ??????? Annoyed me so much, tbh.
What else annoyed me was the singular language he used during the whole episode. "She's part of our squad." "Hemlock took SOMEONE from us." He's completely and utterly disregarding the OTHER TWO SIBLINGS that the Empire took away from him !!!!! It genuinely frustrates me so much.
I know I'm DEFINITELY nit-picking here, but even when Hunter looked to Tech's goggles, it was in a "He should've been here to do this." Way, not a "He should be here." Way. That's his brother, who died looking for another that Hunter has forgotten.
Hunter's tunnel vision is probably one my least favourite things about the Bad Batch, if I dare even MENTION that- and I love this show. It means so much to me, but I just can't handle this particular part of it...
I have so SO much anger directed towards the treatment of Hunter by the writers. I want the Hunter who was devoted to his WHOLE family, who fought for ALL of them, who would have NEVER allowed Crosshair to leave in the first place. Give me that Hunter back.
(Saying this- I do not mind Hunter and Omega's father/daughter and brother/sister relationship !!! I do really enjoy it- in small amounts. The fact that Hunter became nearly an extention of Omega really just- threw me off his whole character, really)
I specifically pick to ignore this when I'm making anything. Hunter has been a sergeant of three idiots(named endearingly) for the entirety of the war. One child who wanders around should not have taken up 100% of Hunter's attention, ESPECIALLY when he was surrounded and supported. It just bothers me, idk
Anyway, thats my rant !!! Back to some positives soon, promise !! I just had to get this off my chest, it's been BOTHERING me.
#sw the bad batch#tbb hunter#sw the bad batch spoilers#its a uh...#its a writing choice#definitely.#idk man i just dont like it that much

(Sorry I know you said no asks, I’m just sharing thoughts in your inbox I hope it’s not a bother). My sister has been in a 15 year on/off situationship that feels somewhat akin to a Chloe Sam etc. dynamic. At first she really got ttpd and there are aspects of it she 100% does (on top of that she’s 36, debating children/marriage). But she always says the mentions of rings and cradles takes her out of it - because that has never been the allure of her situation. It’s just pure history and attraction. There is no future for them (for many reasons). For Taylor, it was the imagined history and promise of a future. That was the whole entire point for her.
I don't generally like to talk about it in this way because it brings out unfruitful and unkind discourse, but your ask was so polite and thoughtful that I felt like it was ok to answer for now. :)
Also how fitting: Chloe et al. just came on shuffle haha.
It's so interesting because we've all been in or known people who have experienced similar dynamics. (Lol that just reminded me of my aunt's on/off boyfriend who she also dated for probably close to a decade in her 20s and early 30s when I was a kid (she's much younger than my mom) with a similar conclusion.) It's so, so common, and everyone has their own reasons for falling into these situations. They don't all end in manic episodes or severe depression, but I think a lot of people can relate to some parts of the story at least.
To me the difference between that and perhaps what your sister is going through and what Taylor details on TTPD is that on TTPD, the Matty situation on the surface is really the Joe situation underneath, and the ring/cradle is absolutely, 100% the reason for it. The reason she finds herself in the place she does, the reason why the creation and dissolution of dreams is so devastating, the reason why she eventually finds the outlets for these crises she does including the fantasizing, is because of everything that happened with Joe, from the passionate (in her account) beginnings to the bitter toxic end. She just ends up projecting that very life onto the person who wilfully acts like the big screen for her.
I know we've said this a million different ways, but the crux of TTPD to me (which again begins as far back as Lover/folklore in her writing) is that Taylor and Joe had seriously discussed/made plans for building a family together on whatever timeline and framework that meant to them that we're not privy to. And that was something that was deeply important to Taylor and absolutely levelled her when it didn't/couldn't/wouldn't happen. (And why TTPD as an album is also intrinsically tied to the theme of womanhood, because these specific experiences cannot be divorced from the actions and fallout.) So when the goalposts kept moving, when she started chopping off all these other parts of herself in service of those goalposts to no avail, it was like a cascading series of events and actions that led her to the dark pit she found herself in by the time she was writing Midnights, which then dovetailed into reconnecting with Matty.
It was a perfect storm of circumstance and harmful coping mechanisms, e.g. she was depressed and vulnerable, he told her what she wanted to hear, she fell trap to her tendency to fantasize in order to stave off the pain she was holding and would be waiting for her on the other side of leaving Joe if/when she made that choice. She's said as much both in the songs and in the epilogue and announcement posts. (Which is not to say that she wished she could get back with Joe -- not at all -- but that that had been the whole life she'd been building and envisioning for years and processing that loss felt insurmountable at the time.)
The feelings for Matty weren't real-- or maybe rather, they were real within the fantasy she created in her head, but not based in actual reality, which she knows in hindsight. IMO, from her own words, she built up this supposed fated history in her head to make it make sense, especially once he fed her the lines about how he'd grown up (unlike her partner who seemingly wouldn't) and would give her all the things he knew she wanted and was actively grieving. Which I guess is a long way of saying just what you did in your last sentence haha. Their story isn't about star-crossed lovers destined to be together, it's about the ways in which grief can manifest the worst in ourselves in a number of ways.
Everybody falls trap to these types of situations or fantasies for different reasons. For Taylor (and for one of my best friends), it was the yearning for family in the wake of a devastating breakup with the person you once thought was forever. For others, it's the physical attraction that is a constant pull in spite of other incompatibility. For others still, it's companionship or intellect or emotional ties or whatever. Taylor isn't unique in this! It could happen to you! It could happen to anyone!

Salty Ask List - 13 and 17 :)
13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
Daniel - I really don't think he's that OOC in season 9-10. I hear this complaint all the time but I feel like it was a natural progression over the seasons. I also prefer early seasons Daniel but I don't think he gets that out of character in the later seasons. You know when he was OOC? RIGHT AFTER FOREVER IN A DAY! That's not an unpopular opinion but I will never get over that.
Rodney - I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion and I feel like it's going to come off the wrong way but truly he is not as misogynistic as a lot of people like to claim he is. I always see people claim how horrible and disgusting he is and that they couldn't watch Atlantis specifically because of him and I guess I just have to assume they've never watched another show from 2005 before? Because while it definitely isn't great or something to be condoned...there was way way worse during that time. And also he grows so much so I'm guessing they're just watching like half of season 1 and giving up. Again, not sure how unpopular this is but it's something I see way more often than I expected to and it bugs me a lot.
Teal'c - In my opinion, Teal'c was so underutilized. Especially being, as far as we're shown, the only alien employed by the SGC(other than Jonas for a bit of course). But too often it felt like he was there to be the straight man and punch and shoot when it was called for. I would have loved to see more character development and also what sorts of things he got into on Earth. Because that man is getting paid(hopefully) but he's living on base with no rent and his money isn't good on his home world. So what's he doing with all that cash? Personally, I think he buys all the things on those late night infomercials. But I just would've liked to see more personality from him. Also, I just cannot be bothered to care about his family. They feel like such an afterthought(a lot like Sha're). I would've either liked to see more of them or just have that plot cut all together.
I'm realizing I don't know how unpopular any of these actually are but I don't think I have a lot of really controversial opinions haha.
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
You've opened a can of worms with this lmao! We all know I wouldn't have had Carson die. There are so many other things they could've done instead. I think if they still wanted a shock factor they could've given him a major injury/permanent disability. Losing hearing or sight or a limb and the impact it would've had on him and the team would have been way more interesting than just killing Carson off.
I also saw once where someone was talking about how they should've had Jonas go on the Atlantis expedition and I whole-heartedly agree. His antics would've fit in so well with the Atlantis crew and it almost feels disrespectful that he was main cast for an entire season and then just cast aside other than one episode in season 7(although I'm fairly certain this was due to the actor and not the writers just writing him off but this is ideal Stargate where everyone is pleasant and easy to work with 😂)
Last, I don't know what I would've done differently but I wish they would've kept Ford around. He and Ronon would've been such a good duo and I think we really missed out.
WAIT I FORGOT HOW HEATED I GET ABOUT ELIZABETH! Okay sorry one more because the shit they pulled with Elizabeth actually makes me so mad. First, I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the s4 credits immediately introduce Sam as being main cast with Elizabeth nowhere in sight which spoils the whole thing and also feels extra disrespectful. They didn't change the s2 ones for an episode or two until Ford was gone. But second, there was no reason to do what they did. Just like Carson, I think character death(or I guess in both cases "death") was the least interesting route. I think major injury would've been so interesting in this case as well. Sam steps in as interim leader while Elizabeth gets back on her feet. Watching the pain and frustration as someone who was always in control can't even get their body to obey them. That would've been interesting to watch. And then eventually Elizabeth is able to step back into the leadership position, maybe solely or maybe she and Sam are co-leaders because we needed more women in the Stargate universe. Oh what we could have had...
There are like a million other things I would've done differently but I'll be done for now before this post gets ridiculously long haha
#stargate#stargate atlantis#sga#sg1#stargate sg1#ask#ask game#coffeechevrons#this wasn't only supposed to be about atlantis#but apparently i have very strong thoughts and opinions about atlantis haha#it's my baby i can't help it#thank you so much for the ask and allowing me to rant!!#not that i need a reason y'all know i'll do it anyway 😂

chat fic for dndaddies s2, where it's a groupchat between the kiddads and the whole fic takes place pre-, during, and a little bit post s2, the entire premise of which is the slow rekindling of kiddads friendship
more under the cut
Like, the first chapter it's pre-canon, where the group chat is mostly empty, the only text messages are D.A.D.D.I.E.S related, maybe the discussion of their next mission. Only Sparrow, Grant, and Terry talk in the chat; Lark only looks through the messages(or Sparrow says he will relay the info to Lark). Their chat names have stayed the same since they were teens. Nicky is offline and has been offline for years, but he is still in the chat. Unclear if kiddads knew about it or not
The second chapter is during the first episodes of s2, kiddads relay information on where they are and the progress of their mission. It doesn't go well, and soon enough, all of them lose contact with each other. Nicky is online for the first time in years, but goes back offline after reading the latest updates. No one from the kiddads notices this
In the third chapter, Sparrow and Lark are the first to be rescued, and they write in the chat about Willy, what teens are doing, and their next plans. Terry Jr is the next to be rescued; he writes about the teens' progress, that they have the measuring tape. Grant is the last one, he talks about how he didn't get the sun, he talks about Erin, their visit to the church of the Doodler, and the teens' plan to save the Doodler. All kiddads express the uncertainty about teens’ plan but ultimately decide to continue what they are doing (aka trying to kill Willy and get everything to kill the Doodler), while saying that after returning to the Earth, teens' are going to go back to their ordinary lives.
Then there is a gap where the kiddads are stuck in the room with Willy, trying to solve Hermie's riddles. In the fourth chapter, the kiddads talk about how they were beaten by their kids, and now no one can find them. But there is a Mayor problem and a Willy problem, so they had to focus on these and hope that the kids are alright. Maybe they ask Mae to look for them.
Then the kiddads are captured and their only source of communication is through the group chat, cuz Willy probably forgot to take away their phones. The fifth and maybe even sixth chapter is about their way to deal with the trauma of being kidnapped again, and them realizing that despite them not talking to each other as much as before, they still know each other (for example, Grant panicks and Terry Jr calms him down, cuz he used to do it when they were teens/ Sparrow venting to Grant about his true feelings and Grant being a good listener/ Grant keeping company Lark when he is distressed and angry/ Terry Jr disstressed that he cannot figure out a spell and Sparrow helping him)
They worry about their kids and try to plan ahead and talk more about their lives. Nicky is online, but no one notices. Or maybe someone notices, but they think it's a glitch. Maybe then Grant mentions that he saw Nicky for the first time since the Betrayal, when he was trying to steal the sun from Erin. The guys ask about how Nicky was (Nicky is reading through the messages during those weeks he has been trying to figure out how to save the kids and then himself from space. )
In the next chapter, when the teens met up with kiddads. Terry Jr writes in the group chat that the teens are here and everyone panics, but tries to keep their cool. Grant is absent during this conversation. Terry Jr writes updates about the situation. His last message is that Scary is weirdly nice and that she hugged him. The guys joke about Ron. The next messages are about a loud gunshot. Grant writes, "It was me. I killed him"
The next chapter takes place in the back of the catbus, as the kiddads and teens are riding to the church of the Doodler. They try to come up with a plan or just to get to know how everyone is doing. They don't want to bother the teens(and share more info), but also maybe teens are asleep), so the kiddads talk in the group chat. Nicky joins in for the first time in years, and they argue. A lot. But then someone mentions that Nicky never left the chat. Nicky doesn't answer as they arrive at their destination.
The next chapters are mostly in between the next episodes, as the kiddads periodically write to each other "what the fuck is going on". Several times it comes close to banter and jokes, and it almost feels like old times. Even Nicky writes a couple of jokes. It's nice. It keeps like that until the Hell confrontation.
After that, there is a huge gap, when the group is split: maybe Grant will write a couple of updates, Lark will write that the teens are with them, and they are in Oakvale, getting the last part of Daddy Magic. Maybe Lark will ask other kiddads did they knew who Hermie was. No one from kiddads will know anything, apart from the fact that Hermie was teens classmate. Nicky will know a little bit more but considering that the whole Hell is under the FBI, he will only receive the news about the death of his half-brother post-battle.
During the Heaven Final Arc, the kiddads are able to talk to each other via a chat group while being in their separate demiplanes. They all panic because the teens are against Willy, and no one can even help. They try to keep calm and figure out how to escape, but it doesn’t go well. This is a moment where a lot of emotions are brought up and tears are shed.
Sparrow and Lark have a talk about their parenting (especially Sparrow I love you bbg but please). Terry Jr forgives Grant for killing him but asks Grant to be kinder towards himself and try therapy. Lark assures Terry Jr that he is doing great and Scary does love him. The kiddads admit that the plan with Infernal Realm was stupid. They apologise for what they did to Nicky. Nicky repeats that he cannot forgive them yet, but he does understand where they were coming from. He admits that he couldn’t make himself leave the group chat. He even confesses that he had the screenshots from their previous conversations, back when they were kids. Maybe they even sent a couple and reminisced about what used to be.
After the final episode, the kiddads are more active in the group chat. They talk about their kids and the plans to rebuild the world after the Doodler. Sometimes, they even share photos of the teens: mostly Terry Jr and sometimes Grant (he gets his photos from Marco). Nicky quietly saves all photos that have Taylor in them and the kiddads always try to mention how Taylor is doing (I think later in life, Taylor and Nicky will mend their relationship: it will never be as good as it could have been, but it’s better than nothing. Definitely better than Glenn and Jodie were to adult Nick)
The most important! They change their group chat names. There are new inside jokes, new topics to talk about - there is definitely baggage from before and it’s not like it was used to be. But it is something. Slowly, it can be better.
Sometimes even this is enough

My memory is terrible so I wanted to do a breakdown of my stuff every once in a while. Might be monthly, might be whenever I feel like it. And also. Spoilers and opinions below, read at your own risk.
QL - Currently Watching
🇯🇵I Hear the Sunspot [1/12] - I'm so grateful that I get a new jbl just as I'm mourning the end of the last one. I didn't read this manga but I've watched the film, and I really liked it even if it felt unfinished. Hopefully with 12 episodes it means we get the full story. This was a very good first episode, I feel like we established the main relationships dynamics and got a good insight into the main characters core. Taichi is my new child.
🇹🇭 Knock Knock, Boys! [6/12] - I continue to enjoy this group. Jane turned out to be a great addition instead of what I feared, but Peak really needs to step up so I can keep rooting for him and Thanwa, cause I'm also not a huge fan of the ex coming back as an obstacle for the couple. Latte and Almond are really great together and I'm curious how Almond will deal with his feelings for Latte, when he actually realizes he's having them.
🇹🇭Love Sea [4/12] - Before anything else, I love the ocean and I love when shows get out of the city. Also I like Mut. Now. I'm not a Mame hater. I'm a 'trauma is the only way to write deep characters' hater. I'm also a 'trauma gives you an excuse to be an asshole' hater. But most of all, I'm very much a 'love will fix you' hater. So just don't give me 3 out of 3 and it's fine. Also this last episode, all the talk about money and contracts made me feel some kind of way, although it doesn't seem to bother Mut so... And as much I like having Aya on my screen, Mook is really testing that line between cute and incredibly annoying. I'm not sure how long I'm staying with this one.
🇹🇭My Love Mix-Up! [4/12] - So... this is not good. The technical aspects of this are actually bad. Considering the number of sponsors is actually kinda incredible that it's so badly put together. The sound, the lighting, the editing, overall just... not good. Now, the rest. Look I don't want to ruin anybody's fun, so I'll keep watching this one quietly, unless something outrageous happens. But for the record, and this is all I'm gonna say, they are ruining the best parts of these characters and this story, and even if I ignore that (which I can't because it's an adaptation), it's pandering and it's a lazy attempt at recapturing the magic of msp, with a worse script and recycled material. Also I cannot believe they didn't put Atom in a trashing bag.
🇹🇭 My Stand-In [1/12] - For a number of reasons I'm waiting to binge this one. I do love watching the gifs on my dash though, pretty is pretty.
🇯🇵Ossan no Pants ga Nandatte Ii Janai ka! [9/11] - It's so good. I love them all. This last episode I was close to tears in several parts but the street proposal ended me. It's definitely one of those shows that I'm grateful that I get to watch even if I can't always find the words to talk about it. These characters have my whole heart. [everyone should be watching this and the wonderful @isaksbestpillow has made that possible with her subs. Here is the post with the latest episode. ]
🇹🇭SunsetxVibes [3/12] - It's ridiculous, it's fun, it's cute. Sun is such a simp. Man basically proposed before they were even dating. And yeah the way it started was not amazing, with the lying, but these two actually communicate about their expectations and what they're feeling which is better than a lot of shows right now. And I adore the sides.
🇹🇭The Rebound [2/12] - Everyone is gay and naked. And they play a sport of some kind.
🇹🇭The Trainee [1/12] - OffGun are back! I really liked the set up for this. It's only the first episode but I really like how they are walking the line between the comedy and the seriousness of the workplace. I love a good friend group so I'm looking forward to seeing how the relationships between all the interns grow. Poon is once again playing the silly brainless child of the pack but I don't care, I adore that kid for some reason. And next week we already got Gun crying so what's not to like?
🇹🇭 Wandee Goodday [10/12] - I already talked about my feelings regarding the last episode. I'm here for Oyei/Cher and Plakao. I love Inn and Great, they deliver with the chemistry but the DeeYak storyline is just a mess for me right now. I am also not looking forward to the inevitable redemption of the terrible parental figure.
🇹🇭 We Are [13/16] - The friendships are still great and mainly why I'm watching. I have a really good time watching those scenes. Only 3 episodes left and ChainPun continue to be the tinniest of crumbs. I don't expect much from this couple at this point and I'm a bit disappointed. FangTan are so cute and such good communicators. They are my favourites. QToey are cute. Now, Phum and Peem. Look PondPhuwin are really good at looking at each other like they're the only person in the universe. However. There's only so many times I can enjoy them staring at each other in slow mo. Once per episode oughta be enough I think. Hopefully now that they're actual boyfriends it gets a little less annoying.
QL - Finished
🇯🇵25 Ji, Akasaka de - What an incredible journey. I have to say it has been a while since a show surprised me this much, for the positive. For most of it I wasn't sure where it was gonna go or how it would end or who would be doing the running. The way they played with the show within a show was so well done. I loved the change in pov, which I always love in jbls, but it not only gave us the opportunity to see how Hayama's crush started but also we were allowed to see behind the mask that Hayama had been keeping up. Speaking of. I love him, one of my favourite characters of the year. And Komagine Kiita did an incredible job. I can't wait to watch him again when Tengu returns. If I had to say, the one thing I wish I had was more of Shirasaki's backstory. I wanted to understand better why his self-esteem got that bad. But that ending was great and honestly, I earned it.
🇵🇭Marahuyo Project - Well that was excellent. This show is beautiful. I want to hug them all and walk next to them. I really don't have the words for it right now so just go watch it. Because these characters are incredible and the visuals are stunning. All episodes here.
🇹🇭 Only Boo! - This is getting tiresome. Here it goes. Why? It was so great. They were the cutest shit and I had a smile on my face the entire episode. Even with the singing. It was wholesome and the mains delightful. And then... Heartbreak, time skip, no consequences, unearned happy ending. I mean Moo is a great character still, and Kang is the best boy, but I'm tired.
Rose Watches OJBL

Mood Indigo (2019) - I liked this one slightly better than the first. I think the visuals are stronger and there are some incredible shots throughout. The sex scenes are some of the best shot that I've ever seen. I love Kijima so even though I'm not always on board with prequels, it was great that we got more insight into him. Obviously we know this relationship was doomed from the start, and Kido has a lot to do with how we find Kijima in the beginning of The Novelist, but I can't help but feel for Kido. He is a mess that is struggling between the expectations that are on him (put there by others but also himself) and the affection and desire he feels for Kijima. And even without watching The Novelist there is always an air that this will not end well. For lack of a better phrase, it just wasn't meant to be. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of this series.
Dangerous Drugs of Sex (2020) - One of my first thoughts when I was watching this was 'we are using the word unhinged too freely'. Cause Ryoji has little competition on that score. This is not an easy watch. I really liked the way it was shot even if at times that meant my view was too narrow so I couldn't look anywhere else but the 'uglier' parts. In completely different ways they were both stuck in an uncomfortable (yeah that's not really the best word but I can't think of another) place and I could feel that throughout. I'm not sure about the ending but they look happy, so what do I know?
Other - Watched
There's a lot airing so I didn't watch much outside ql. I finished Under the Skin and rewatched a couple of things. My watchlist got longer and I have a bunch of shows that I'll hopefully tackle during my summer holiday in July. Speaking of...
There is a lot coming next month, so here is a post with all the shows that have been announced for July that I updated to include Meet You at the Blossom that was recently announced. New jbl starts tomorrow!!!!
As usual my ask box is open for questions or requests. Have a wonderful week💜

The Remedy That Is You (Azul Version)
Mentions: Azul-Centric, Fluff, Second Person, Gender Neutral Reader, Very Possible OOC Azul and Floyd cause god are they hard for me to write...
Haha...hi...been a while huh...
While this is severely rushed and possibly the worst one out of this mini series so far its also basically 2k words sooooooo
Take it or leave it (i really wouldn't blame you for leaving it)
No matter how many a time the students of Nightraven College witnessed how their Housewarden did a complete 180 in your presence, it never ceased to amaze them.
It eventually got to the point where a majority of students began to question if you really were magickless. There was just no way your mere presence could bring out such light in their eyes, face softening and a smile so tender it was as if they were gazing upon one of the Seven.
Just how did you do it?
Azul
Being on romantic terms with Azul Ashengrotto of all people required both patience and understanding, which you thankfully had.
While he utterly loved and adored every inch of you, he also had a dorm and business to run. Both of which were also incredibly dear to him. His pride, his joy, a living and thriving embodiment of his hard work and how far he made it. You knew that. You knew and understood that there were occasionally times where he would have to take some time for himself to further nurture it all, and by The Seven did he love you even more for that.
So while it was just a bit disappointing to have to reschedule your date to town to another day, you took it in stride. It didn’t take a genius to tell that your boyfriend was truly remorseful when giving you the news, eyes downcast and ungloved hands gingerly caressing the back of your hands as he held them.
“I cannot stress how regretful I am about this darling…” he muttered, not bothering to hide the ever so small quiver in his voice. “I’m usually not so disorganized but I had not realized how far off this month’s revenue really was from our average and it didn’t even occur that I miscalculated-”
“Azul,” you interrupted with a small laugh, giving a lighthearted smile as you cupped his cheek and raised his head up. You waited, giving him as much time as he needed to to finally muster up the courage to look into your eyes. “I promise you, I do not mind. Not in the slightest.”
The small peck you gave him to further bolden your claim finally got him to perk up just a bit, a barely restrained smile itching to shine as his lips chased your own.
That was just barely two hours ago, a full one hundred and twenty minutes passing since your separation. Not that you were counting. Your eyes definitely were not constantly drifting up to the small clock sitting in the upper corner of your phone screen.
Two hours and fifteen minutes…
This time you physically shook your head around, cursing yourself. It was only for the night. You would inevitably see Azul again tomorrow where he would stand at the entrance gates of Night Raven, patiently waiting for you as you embarked on the long trek to the campus. Then many more times throughout the day you would be blessed with his loving presence, until the newly scheduled date night made way once more. There was truly no reason for you to get so hung up on one once canceled date.
You focused your attention on your phone screen once more. Tired eyes took in the dramatics happening before you, low volume humming in your ears so as to not awaken your sleeping companion just a foot away from you. No matter how many times Grim swore he would not crash during another episode of the show you enjoyed watching together, he failed every time only to complain about it the next morning. The thought made a small smile come to your face, the repeating occurrence never ceasing to amuse you.
Suddenly a series of knocks sounded through the dorm, quite muffled through the various walls and whole floor separating you from the entrance. They came in rapid succession, loud and persisting enough to quickly spark annoyance from within. With a sigh you sat up, staring at your still snoring companion with envy, before getting up and starting the sluggish trek to your bedroom door.
Not once during your trip down did the knocks cease. Instead they only grew if humanly possible. By the time you finally reached the door separating you from whatever heathen stood on the other side the entire thing was rattling from the utter strength used.
Annoyance had long since begun brewing into utter frustration, a feeling you didn’t hesitate to express as you swung the door open and greeted the disturbance with a loud ‘what!’.
“Nice seeing you too Shrimpy!” A far too cheerful Floyd greeted loudly, raised fist still in the air. Sharpened teeth grinned at you, poised and ready to attack at a moment's notice. A reality that normally would send shivers of unease down your spine, but not now.
“What do you need,” you sighed, tired eyes glancing around. “No Jade?”
“Nah, he’s busy running things at the lounge right now,” Floyd answered, pocketing his hand and leaning against the doorway. “Things are pretty crazy right now.”
“Running the lounge?” You questioned, all exhaustion steadily leaving your mind as a frown set it. “What about Azul? Did something happen to him? Is he sick?”
As his grin grew, so did the unease within you.
“Why don’t you ask him yourself!” He chirped. One moment you just barely saw his long arms reaching for you, the next the world was upside down as the wind was knocked out of you from your attacker’s bony shoulder.
“Wha-Floyd!” Fists did not hesitate to slam against the others back, each hit enunciating your screams. “Put!” Hit. “Me!” Hit. “Down.” Double hit. “This!” Hit. “Instant!”
“No can do,” Floyd drawled, not phased by your feeble attack in the slightest. Instead he cackled as he purposely jostled you, pleased at your startled yelp and pained groan when his shouldered jabbed into you again. “I can’t stand looking at Azul’s mopy face any longer. It’s making me feel down and we can’t have that now can we Shrimpy?”
The threat was evident, one that sent chills down your spine, enough to quiet you but also give you time to ponder. Azul? Mopy? That was new. Sure there was stressed, annoyed, and emotionally drained Azul but never…mopy.
Before you knew it the familiar chatter of the Mostro Lounge surrounded you, customers of all years staring as Floyd pranced past them. Blissful ignorance was your dearest friend at that moment, helping you ignore Jade's unabashed laughter as you were taken down a short hall.
It seemed this time Floyd was far too impatient to wait for Azul to even consider opening the door for him, saving himself the “trouble” of knocking and instead kicking open the entrance. “Azuuuul!” He loudly drawled, prancing in and quickly zoning in on said man’s shocked gaze. “I’ve brought you a gift!”
“F-Floyd! What is the meaning of this?” Azul shouted, slamming gloved hands down onto his desk and staring at your hanging figure with wide eyes. You didn’t bother trying to lift yourself up, instead settling for giving a weak wave. “Did you really drag them all the way down here?”
The eel scoffed. “You should be thanking me. Everyone was getting sick of your whining.”
“This room is designed to be soundproof of which I have not left-”
“ANYWHO,” Floyd obnoxiously interrupted, marching forward and not so gently dropping you onto Azul’s desk once he got close enough. A thump combined with a yelp sounded. “Have fun and stop being so pouty!”
Before Azul could even begin to scold him the office door slammed shut, echoing around the room for a second and then leaving the atmosphere in an awkward silence. He slowly sat back down, mouth opening and closing like a fish (ironic considering). Gentle eyes slowly began to look at you, observing how you rubbed your backside with a slight wince.
“I’m truly sorry. I don’t know what has gotten into him,” he said, reaching over to grab your other hand. His thumb caressed the back of it as he waited for you to recover, before nudging you to a stand and proceeding to guide you around his desk. You quickly pieced together what it was he wanted and with a teasing grin settled yourself comfortably in his lap. He in turn pointedly looked away, coughing slightly as to draw attention away from the faint blush on his cheeks.
“I won’t deny that the surprise kidnapping didn’t scare me a bit,” you shrugged, eyebrows furrowing as you scanned his face. “I didn’t care so much about that when he mentioned something about you being upset. Are you alright Azul?”
He sighed, shoulders sagging and arms loosening from their spot around your waist. “That loudmouth,” he muttered, blush flaring just a bit. It was clear he was embarrassed at being so exposed, yet he did not resist as your fingertips gently smoothed over his cheeks. The scowl on his face easily dropped, eyes drooping and head edging towards your warmth for more.
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don't want to. I just want to make sure you’re alright. I never want you to feel upset if it’s something I can help you with.”
Azul was silent for a minute, seemingly mulling over your words and debating with himself if he wanted to concede. Whilst he did that you busied yourself with tracing over his features, relaxing him more and more with each caress. A small touch on his hairline, a smooth slide under his eye, a playful poke to his beauty mark which you loved so much. For a second you almost forgot that you were supposed to be patiently waiting for him to answer your question, lost in a trance of your own.
“I was simply…” he began, swallowing his own nerves, “upset at the rescheduling of our date.” You paused in your ministrations, leaning back just a bit and blinking at the utter devastation that was present on his face. “I was really looking forward to it and it made me so happy knowing how excited you were for it as well. Knowing we couldn’t go out because of my utter idiocy-”
“Azul,” you snapped, but quickly apologized once his eyes snapped back to yours in surprise. “Please don’t say things like that. I’ve already told you that I’m not upset in the slightest. You work hard everyday to be the best you can be for your dorm, the lounge, for me. It's okay to make a mistake from time to time.”
“But-”
“I don’t want to hear it.” You firmly placed a finger on his lips, waiting for him to stop his attempts at continuing before you did. “You need to stop being so harsh on yourself. I don’t think of you any less than I did yesterday, or the day before that, or the day before that. We had to push our date back just a few more days, so what? I’m just as excited for this one if not more, okay?”
This time it was your turn to restrain the warmth in your cheeks, eyes taking in how his were filled with such utter adoration. The barest sheen glossed over them, one that he quickly blinked away, before quickly cupping your face and bringing you in for a soft kiss. It was one you eagerly returned, sighing into him as your own body this time fully relaxed into his. Affection such as this was always so gentle with Azul, so warm and utterly loving that each time it sent off fireworks from inside you.
You knew he felt the same, just barely pulling back only for him to give you a peck, then another, then another, this next one branching out onto one cheek then the other. The next went to the tip of your nose, the space between your eyebrows, then finally the center of your forehead.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“Of course,” you whispered back.

One of my things for this rewatch that I decided to focus on was the Stabler family and specifically IF there actually any screen evidence to the whole letter that we get later with OC (because I honestly could not - and have yet to see - find a valid reason Kathy would write such a letter.
The only two things I could think off the top of my head was the Bernie "no wonder you scare the pants off of Kathy" line and the "what about your detective" moment from Dickie. Neither of which are directly from Kathy and still, ive rewatched looking.... scanning .... and as I've posted previously ... I cannot be convinced.
I have gotten to that Dickie episode. And whole that line has ALWAYS bothered me .... I actually see the scene a bit differently now. It that past it was always such a strange thing to turn to, such a strange twist in the convo, but that's largely because what he says right before gets overlooked (maybe not by others but I have at least). This is largely due to the immediate focus on Liv's reaction and pan to Elliot's. We are set to focus on them and the question.... not on what Dickie was DOING.
Thing is, "are we done playing games?" Tells us Olivia did catch what he was doing. She's questioning him, essentially interrogating him - far nicer than normally would but of course that's the case - and he's not helping. Not cooperating. He's angry and worried but most of all fears his own father won't help look for his friend (this I could tie back to Kathleen and her DUI and the "afraid of what you'd do" moment in that episode but hold on to that for me). Dickie turns and blatantly tells Olivia "I know where your going. My dad does this all the time when he's trying to get personal"
And that is a thing we have seen from Elliot in the past with Maureen and Kathleen, he has a habit of using cop mode on his kids (I won't say deliberately but he struggles to drop it even with simple conversations at time).
Dickie immediately after this pulls the "how about you? Ever sleep with your partner, detective?"
He's turning the personal around on her, twisting the interview around. Showing he knows the game being played. He's answering her, telling her what he knows. The moment she said "let's stop playing games". She acknowledged it, answered his questioned at the same time.
It's fascinating to me, because not once has any member of that family (that we see) actively go at Olivia for such a thing. Even during the separation and divorce- not once is it accused. Now, Kathy does admit to Olivia at one point her own internal struggle over who Elliot was closer to (her fear about Olivia basically - but the concern was "talk more to you" style concern, which Olivia immediately replied with a "he talks about you and the kids, it's all he talks about". My point on that is yes we have a bit of confirmed worries but it's more hinted than anything (Bernie mentions her husband sleeping around after her comment for example).
This line from Dickie could come from so many reasons. He is going for the personal, and he's not the tiny kid we see at the beginning. He's a teen, who probably has classmates whose parents have cheated and divorce happened. He may have heard things during his parents divorce that sat with him. They know Olivia but how much of her do they know, what was he gonna ask if she was dating anyone. The goal was to get on her nerves about personal lives as she was his (she was prodding at his relationship with his best friend - you two were close - so he turned the table and prodded at the 1 person be knows has been in her life awhile).
Basically ... I don't think the scenes we get like this (so far) really back up the whole "Kathy thought Elliot would leave her for Olivia" that seems to be trying to be pushed. ((This isn't getting into how I feel like wrapping his leaving around Olivia and Kathy actual ignores the reason he did leave which was ... you know ... shooting and killing a teenage girl - you know a kid, a child, those cases that always hits him hard because he strives to protect EVERY SINGLE ONE )
So yeah there is all that .... but also like back to that other thing. Dickie didn't trust that his dad would look for his friend, went out his own to do it out of that belief (and ultimate fear of being right). Kathleen got a DUI and never mentioned her father because she feared what he'd do. This fascinates me .... Elliot Stabler isn't abusive (yes he grabbed Dickie in the above discussed ep, however he immediately withdraws and steps back - he knows he's not right here). We see him overly protective with his kids, patient and gentle. As they get older his temper pushes the surface yes but the two who push him the most are Kathleen and Dickie. Kathleen is DURING her bipolar episodes deliberately going at him and still he controls himself. Dickie he lost it - this was when Dickie mentions crazy being in the family in a blithe "I wouldn't be the first one" manner.
Now, I will say I think they could have written some of those scenes a bit better BUT I do think it's fascinating that these kids know their dad is a cop. Know the victims he works with and helps.... and yet when they get in trouble their immediately concern is "will he help?". And given how often the cases go home with him (locking up the computer, wondering if his kid got an STD, if his kid is having sex to young, one kid witnessing body burn, etc) it's not surprising they may worry he might go more cop on them.
A sort of "I mean he already checks the door like forty times and had the computer safety convo with us, if we tell him this we may not be let out of our room" sort of fear. And for Dickie that was also laced with "he already thinks my friends a failure, he'd probably just ground me and think it's good he's out of my life".
I just .... I find it interesting the way the show wants to try to paint Elliot as if he's TOO aggressive and then also constantly making sure we know that he is super protective about those he cares about. This post got long sorry
#law and order svu#svu#stabler family#elliot stabler#i love his character and honestly wished they balanced this a bit better

(Please don't apologize. You may call it pessimism but I see it as realism and I truly appreciate it. I've seen people SO excited to see the cast back this week and all the excitement about the new season, optimism for canon buddie, what hair/tattoos/wardrobe might look like. And I feel bad because I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. But I cannot be bothered about whether Oliver will keep his fluffy hair or have any new tattoos or Ryan's mustache because I don't want another season of boring, repetitious storylines that don't do anything to the characters, especially those of color (thinking of the cartel and Mara right now)
I'm hopeful that because season 8 will be a full 18 episodes things won't have to be as rushed or thrown together at the last minute as season 7. But yeah, please don't apologize for your opinions because you're not the only one thinking similar thoughts <3)
im moreso apologetic because i dont WANT to be a debbie downer but its like…. ive been burned by shows (this one included) far too many times to be super optimistic and excited over things that could very potentially not be good for us… like i’ve said, most of the people i know with that mustache are awful human beings and when you add in the fact that gerrard also has a mustache like that AND that tim has been showing so little care for eddie as a character/care for poc characters as a whole it doesn’t seem far fetched to me that tim could very easily commit one of the most egregious acts of character death by veering eddie so far off the natural path simply to create cheap drama
like im so glad we seem to be getting fluffy hair buck… unfortunately fluffy hair buck doesn’t negate the fact that he’s currently in a relationship with a racist and that they’re ignoring 6 years of subtext built between he and eddie to try and further reiterate their “totally platonic dude bro” relationship, on top of giving eddie a look that exudes macho straight republican man…
(and don’t get me started on the fucking cartel plot or the mara plot bc what the actual fuck is wrong with tim minear 💀💀)
i just want them to stop dragging their feet on buddie while seemingly writing everything else as this whirlwind of convoluted messy nonsense drama plots and actually decided if they’re gonna commit to just ship/queerbaiting or to the subtext and plot theyve infused into the story since eddie’s literal first episode.
like personal feelings aside for the mustache, i think we’re giving the writers too much faith in portrayal of queer characters to actually say that it’s eddie “embracing queer culture” simply bc it looks like eddie mercury… we’re talking about the same writers who gave the main wlw couple a cheating plotline, have boiled down buck’s sexuality to just sex, and have relied on playing into stereotypes of mlm/wlw side characters rather thsn actually putting time and thought into it… like it’d be one thing to say “it’s a nod to freddie mercury” if the show has actually shown any kind of care beyond using sexuality plotlines for cheap drama (henren) but the reality is that they haven’t shown us that we can trust them in that way yet.
and who knows maybe it IS a nod to freddie mercury, but we don’t know for sure and im not going to set myself uo to be disappointed yet again when its just as likely to be s nod to them making eddie an antagonistic character with gerrard… yeah, that plot wouldn’t make sense for eddie as a character but neither did the vertigo plot so who’s to say tim wouldn’t go for it?
at the end of the day, i am just not looking forward to s8. nothing yet has given me any inclination to actually watch it until we are shown that they are making strides to actually tell a meaningful story that doesn’t rely on minorities for tokenism plots or putting them through needless pain again. yes this show is a drama, but there are other ways you can create drama (hell it’s a show about first responders) than putting poc characters through the fucking wringer time and time again, profiting off their pain, while simultaneously telling lowkey racist stories that involve the fucking cartel coming out of nowhere to burn down a LA fire captain’s house???
so yeah, i’m just not feeling great about it. i also don’t wanna rain on anyone’s parade but i don’t wanna get my own hopes up when i would just be setting myself up to be let down yet again by these writers

What Alastor from Hazbin Hotel would call you if you were dating:
Okay, with the new episodes of Hazbin Hotel releasing and it being a roller coaster of emotions, I've had a thing for Alastor. I personally don't see him as ace, but that's just my opinion. Either way, enjoy!
Baby:
No. Just no- he's more old-timey, and I feel like to him this is not appropriate.
Doll:
Again no- Could you imagine Alastor calling his s/o doll?- I just cannot- It's more old timey sure but I just don't see it.
Darling:
I could see him saying this for sure. I feel like he's said it before to other people in the show, but I can't remember-
Sweetheart:
Yes. Just yes. He already calls people this in the show, so I know he'd definitely call you this. Although I feel like he'd call you this during sweet moments rather than just random moments.
Dear
This is another one he's already called other people, so I feel like this would be the most frequent one.
Honey
I personally hate this pet name due to *cough* pedos who have bothered me *cough*. But otherwise, yes. This is one he'd call you. Again it wouldn't be one for random times of the day and reserved for sweet moments.
Babygirl/Boy:
...Do I even have to answer this one? No. Just no. If you asked him to call you this he'd look at you with the most disgusted look-
Kitten:
Nope, no, and no. This one is even worse to him than the one above. He's an old-timer, so things like this that would be... More modern is already a no, and getting animals involved? No. Just no. Not his thing. He'd give you worse than a disgusted look. And not in a sexual way either-
Beloved:
This is a good one! He uses it more when he's introducing you to people, and maybe if he's speaking sarcastically because let's be honest, he's a lil shit-
Sweetie:
Another nickname I'm not fond of thanks to those same weirdos! Either way yes he'd definitely use this one. More for questions like "What do you want to eat, sweetie?"
Squeeze:
This is actually a slang pet name-? Either way no. He'd tilt his head and look both disappointed in you and confused if you even suggested he call you that-
Mistress:
Once again, no. I feel like he's the type to hate people having control over him, and this one just sounds like this. Also, it was common to call someone you were cheating with a mistress so bad rep for him.
Pet:
No. Just no. Sure he'll call people he's teasing a pet or people he has a contract with like Husker. But he doesn't see you as a pet so he's not going to call you one.
Amour:
This one is one he probably wouldn't hear of and didn't know even existed word-wise, but he'd like it. I feel like this is one of the only ones he'll add to his vocabulary because he likes it
Angel:
Nope- Reminds him too much of Angel Dust- And he also knows that if he were to call you Angel around Angel Dust, it'd give Angel a perfect opportunity to wait so no-
Sexpot:
Yes, this was actually something I found for like a compliment, or if you're trying to pick someone up- Alastor would give you the dirtiest, nastiest look you could imagine. If you're joking with him when there's no one else, he won't say anything but give you the dirtiest glare. If you're joking and you're with people, you're getting the silent treatment for a whole month. And if you're dead serious... No more relationship for you.
I've been bored, so here's this random head cannon. Alastor is living in my head rent-free right now so I hope you enjoyed this! Have a good day/night! Master list: https://www.tumblr.com/anxietysslave/708212002841083904/masterlist?source=share
