Does someone else have the feeling Carmy has a gambling addiction? If not, he has all the ingredients to develop one.

He didn’t needed to make the deadline to pay Cicero or loose the place forever. He could have let Cicero stablish a payment regimen, and you can see Nat and Syd react to how unattainable Carmy’s deadline is.

He didn’t need to go for the star by using the most expensive menu idea in history. It is definitely not sustainable and he knows it.

Every time Cicero or others go to him to tell him they cannot afford it, he dismisses it because it’s gonna be worth it at the end. For a gambling addict, it doesn’t matter how many times you loose as long as you win big once. His father was also a gambler. The whole family has this pattern, getting into risky enterprises. Cicero mafia, KBL, the buildings, the Beef restaurant.

This is complemented by Carmen’s character trait of not being able to do math for shit. He is quite literally blind to numbers (risk). He was too caught up in trying to figure out a menu himself that he discarded Sydney’s perfectly sound business plan in s1.

I am not saying he didn’t have to work but he is privileged. If he looses he would feel awful but he would have a future. Nobody else in the restaurant can say that, he is even crippling Cicero financially.

He knows all of this is crazy, but he needs the pressure of it. He thinks the better and riskier the win the more he would prove his worth. That’s why he wants Syd to sign the partnership agreement, it would be a confirmation that she believes in him. And that’s precisely why Sydney can’t sign it. It would like giving him permission to go even further into this mindless all speed driving, confirm that he needs to do this to earn validation/love.

lemon curd - sydcarmy excerpt

this is totally sfw, but my blog is 18+! just a little blurb from an upcoming sydcarmy fic ˊᵕˋ

“Uh, you know how we have a few days off?” He sounds nervous. A little apprehensive, maybe. 

Sydney puts her book down and tries to sort through where he could be going with this. “…Yes,” she answers after a long moment. Her stomach flip-flops. “A few days that I am enjoying, thank you,” she chuckles lightly, trying to blanket her nerves. “Why?”

“I, uh, don’t really have shit to do,” he admits. Sydney stifles a laugh. A real one, this time. “I already cleaned my whole apartment and Sug is busy with family stuff, I think. Her family,” he clarifies. “Might do a little research downtown— y’know, see how much good the CTA can do me.”

Sydney smiles. “Aaaand you’re telling me why?” She knows exactly why he called her now, but she kind of wants to hear him say it.

“It’s a little, ah… boring? Like, doing notes and stuff by myself.” He sighs, but Syd can hear a tinge of his smile in his voice. She lets a few moments pass. “I mean, I’d cover your train fare. And, uh, everything else,” he says, the words tumbling out of his mouth.

Syd can picture him, all clean in a white t-shirt and some of his coveted jeans, lounging on his couch while he spoke to her. She smiles harder, not knowing why, but letting her face move anyway. “Sure,” she says, shrugging even though he can’t see it. “I ain’t got shit else to do either.”

And that’s how Sydney Adamu finds herself in the third restaurant of the evening with Carmen Berzatto, spooning a wonderfully bright lemon curd into her mouth and humming. “It’s good, right?” Carmy chuckles, scribbling something down on his notepad. He’s staring at her a little with his ice-blue eyes, and Sydney feels a smile tug at the corners of her mouth.

“Would be better with some basil,” she muses. He nods curtly and scrawls more onto the paper. She can see him mouthing out b-a-s-i-l. Her eyes linger on his lips just a little too long. “Or mint?” she mumbles, her mouth still wrapped around the spoon as she writes lemon curd with herbs? shortbread ? in her own notebook.

A very low um reaches her ears and she looks up, the spoon still in her mouth. It’s Carmy, his eyes flicking up from her mouth at the last moment. “Mint sounds good,” he coughs, looking back down at his own notebook. “Yeah, mint sounds really good.” The tips of his pale ears have turned a lush pink.

we all know sydney won't leave the bear but I am intrigued to see the ensuing angst regarding that storyline bc realistically, carmy shouldn't (and really can't) blame her for considering it. he's been a shit partner and he just doesn't know how to share ideas and give the reins over to someone else.

i know i’m overdue on an update with the “smau” but here are my sydcarmy established relationship headcanons because i love them

- they share all their clothes. it’s intense. like, to the point where they don’t even distinguish whose striped button-up or grey sock or stonewashed jeans that was (apart from some of syd’s more ‘flouncy’ items)

- they spend concerning amounts on clothing as well

- they go to the farmers market every week on their day off and end up spending waaaayyy too much time over-analyzing the ripeness of tomatoes or the aging of cheeses and the types of bread. carmy always ends up buying syd a bouquet of flowers, which ends up in a vase on their kitchen table for the rest of the week before they get swapped with a new bouquet

- syd’s an ‘oversized t-shirt and boy shorts’ to sleep girl. carmy almost melted into a puddle when he saw her the first time they spent the night together

- they’re big on pet names. not in public and not overly corny but it does bring a smile to her face when he calls her something along the lines of “pretty girl” or “angel” and vice versa with “baby” or “honey”

- adding to this, i’m a firm believer that syd doesn’t call him “bear”

- when they move in together, their fridge is filled with polaroids and to-do lists, five minute doodles or cute little morning notes from carm and small reminders from syd

- they try to avoid watching cooking shows during downtime and try to indulge into other media outlets

- carm’s def a ‘succession’ type of guy and syd is more of a ‘severance’ or sitcom girl

- much like cooking, music is really big between them. they split a pair of headphones as they go home on the L or they send each other music recs when they’re apart

- sydney was amused by how touchy carm was behind closed doors as soon as they started dating. that man could not keep his hands to himself for the life of him. always with a hand on the small of her back, massaging her shoulders or rubbing her thigh when they sat next to each other

i’ll def do more parts because i love this concept so so much (and it’s sooooo much less time consuming than the smau lol—i swear an update is coming soon!)

SEASON 4 SYDNEY CENTRIC. AYO EDEBIRI SYDNEY ADAMU THE BEAR SEASON 4

Last season they focused on Carmy a lot but in a way that made me just kinda tired of seeing him (sorry to say).

Even now it's hard to rewatch.

It bums me out

Not just Sydney. The writers I hope will get this

Her past and how she interacts with THE OTHER (I need a break from season 3 Carmy) members of the Bear (not the Faks).

I know he's grieving but to be honest I cried more in the 20 secs or 1 minute of seeing Marcus at the hospital alone or in his mom's room on her bed after she passed (I feel to cry just remembering)

I mean deep sobs from the soul for Marcus. Season 3 (unpopular opinion) made me kinda sick of Carmy.

So I want to see more of Sydney.

It's still SYDCARMY all day but...

Just please no more season 3 all blue vibes. All that even kinda overshadowed Tina's episode

If you have not read @morningssofgold 's Sydcarmy fic "A Thousand Things", what are you doing? Go read it now, trust me, you'll love it! She just updated the fic today as well!

She is legitimately such a talented writer and writes Sydcarmy so, so well! The story itself is amazing, but it's also both emotional and sweet, I was in legit tears with this last chapter.

This is just a little piece of fanart I created with the Sydcarmy babies in the fic.

Brie, Apple, and Colby Chai Adamu Berzatto are the cutest parts of the story, and my friend does a much better job at discribing them, but I hope I did them justice! I love this fic so much, it is literally my favourite fic in the fandom!
