Day 1 of June of Doom: Help me: fetal position (tw blood, self blaming, and subtle s/h)

Hunter couldn't think straight. With the thoughts flooding his mind, the scratches across his body stinging like needles in his skin. It took all of his pathetic willpower to stop himself from letting the tears flow.

All he wanted was to help. That's all he ever wanted. He wanted Belos to love him, to praise him, most of all he wanted to be useful. And believe me he tried. But today had been different. He hadn't expected his trip to Eclipse Lake to be so successful with so little recognition.

When he had returned with the key, battered and coated in abomination goop, he expected his uncle to be proud, to be happy! Even if he did go against his wishes, he had gotten such a vital thing for the portal Belos was struggling to complete! Even if some of the titan's blood had leaked, it might still be enough! But he was terribly wrong.

The moment Hunter burst into Belos's portal room he felt the mood shift. His hopeful thoughts quickly faded with how Belos wiped around to look at him. Walking up hopefully he had explained the situation, that he had found titan's blood! Belos snatched the key out of his hands, causing the kid to flinch harshly. "Go. Now." The emperor hissed coldly. Hunter opened his mouth to protest but quickly shut it at the nasty glare Belos was giving him. With that, he had bowed slightly, than quickly fled back to his room.

And now, curled up here in the fetal position, he wondered why he ever thought this was a good idea. He had directly gone against Belos's orders. Even though he was trying to help, he was still in the wrong. This was his fault, the feeling of shame and uselessness. He had to try harder. He had to follow the orders given. It didn't matter what he thought about the matter. He was failing.

Hunter dug his nails into his leg, shutting his eyes tightly a couple tears rolling down his cheek. Why couldn't he be useful? He just... needed to be better. He curled up tighter on himself, the cold breeze from his open window sending chills up his spine but he refused to pull his blanket up on him. He didn't deserve that kind of comfort. Hunter's thoughts continued around like this in never ending torture until his consciousness started to fade, leaving wake to terrible nightmares and more insomnia than he already had.
