i made him for my bf, were making rats that look like ourselves to swap them.

i am so proud of how this little guy turned out, his jacket is looking better than mine, and its fully from scraps and other stuff i still had laying around

added a "misfits" patch, a rat skull patch and a trans anarchy patch, drew some gay stuff one the inside

i gave him piercings to match mine too, and gave his jacket buttons so you can close it! altho it is but tight but it looks better this way.

gave him an arm cuff and a tail cuff, i avoided using shark spikes so he's still somewhat huggable

he is my son and im glad my bf is getting custody of him cause i wouldnt be able to give him away to anyone else.

Now more than ever is a good time to learn to make zines.

What Are Zines?

Zines ("zeens") are small, self-published booklets filled with whatever the creator is passionate about. They can focus on personal stories, niche interests, or even artwork. Unlike traditional publications, zines are informal, handmade, and often deeply personal. They don’t have to be perfect—what matters is the message and creativity behind them.

How Zines Spread Information

Zines are powerful tools for sharing ideas, especially when mainstream outlets overlook certain voices or topics

- They’re Accessible: You don’t need fancy equipment or money to make one—just paper, pens, and your imagination

- They Cover What Matters to You: Zines are great for exploring personal experiences, activism, or any quirky interests you’re passionate about

- They Build Community: Zines often connect like-minded people, sparking conversations and creating new relationships

- They Educate and Inspire: Whether it’s about a social cause, a DIY skill, or your favorite band, zines can teach and inspire readers

How to Make a Zine

1. Pick Your Topic: What’s the thing you can’t stop thinking about? That’s your zine idea.

2. Plan Your Pages: Jot down what you want to include—stories, drawings, photos, poems, or collages. Anything goes!

3. Choose a Format: The easiest option is a mini-zine (made from one folded sheet of paper), but you can also staple multiple pages together for a booklet

4. Design Your Layout: Use scissors, glue, markers, and whatever you have on hand. If you prefer digital tools, programs like Canva or even Word work well! I use Procreate

5. Print & Assemble: Make photocopies or print them at home. You can alzojust remake them by hand. Fold, staple, or bind them together however you like

6. Share It: Hand them out to friends, leave them in local spots, or share them online as PDFs

Zines are all about self-expression, so don’t worry about making it perfect—it’s your creation, and that’s what matters. Invite friends to contribute, try different styles, and most importantly, have fun with it.

Howdy, my name is Critter. Have y'all heard of this lil thing called Craftivism? Here are 5 types of Punk/DIY Crafts I think we need to embrace, sooner rather than later!

Crochet/Knitting

Yarn and crochet/knitting supplies are relatively easy and inexpensive to get your hands on, and learning to crochet/knit is relatively easy with video tutorials. Once you learn the basics, you can create patches and clothing items that support certain causes. You can also do yarn-bombing (essentially graffiti using crochet/knitting) as a way to spread awareness about certain issues. Here are the patterns I listed above:

All you need is something hard and sturdy to act as the base for your pin (bottle caps work best), soda tabs + a safety pin, and some glue to secure everything. Paint or decorate them however you please. Let people know who you are and what you stand for. 

Kandi

While Kandi can be a way to express yourself and your identities, it is also a way to make community. Kandi-trading is huge in the EDM scene, and it is a huge part of why that community is so tight. You don’t need to make anything elaborate, especially to start out - just get some cheap pony beads from the dollar store, some letters, make some pretty bracelets. Keep them, trade them, give them away. 

Embroidery

Embroidery is a very fun and useful skill to develop, as you can basically put whatever you like wherever you want. Mend your socks, personalize your jacket, make some patches. Stop buying those shitty embroidered clothes from temu or shein and make your own one-of-a-kind pieces. Learning embroidery is pretty easy, just get some fabric, some thread, a needle, and go ham.

Zines

Zines are not only a way to spread awareness about certain issues, but they are a way to express yourself and talk about your personal experiences. I’ve included instructions on how to fold a zine, as well as some examples of zines. If you would like to learn more about zines & their history, I recommend @/decolonizationcoven on Tiktok. If you would like more examples of zines, check about any social media platform, but especially Pinterest. Lastly, if you would like inspiration for zines, Canva has lots of templates of zine layouts that are easy to replicate.

This is also similar to what is happening in Congo. Congo is the largest source of natural resources used in batteries and other electronics/tech. They are run by slave labor, funded by the United States, Belgium, France, and the UK. (I know for a fact the United States and Belgium, I’m unsure about the other two but I am fairly confident. Please correct me if I am incorrect.)

For reference, the people of Congo have been in a state of dire straits for many years due to Belgian influence and ownership of their government along with the destruction of their internal affairs through external government’s influence. Currently the people of Congo work in mines, mining extremely dangerous resources. They are one of the world’s poorest countries despite providing some of the most lucrative and valuable resources in the world.

On top of this, people are going through what could be considered a genocide at the hands of their oppressors and have been for decades. Congo is considered the world capital for rape and sex crimes due to the way that their oppressors treat the women and young girls. It is not only common there, but it is specifically used for torture and punishment along with just happening commonly without consequences.

The state of Congo is not often publicized in western media, as western countries and corporations are those who gain the most through these conditions and labor. I highly suggest looking into the history of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and how these conditions evolved and why they are still in such horrible conditions today.

This video goes through the history of The Democratic Republic of Congo, but I still suggest studying further than just this documentary video essay into the topic. I also suggest specifically looking for African resources related to political affairs and developments over the decades relating to Congo, as they are less biased by the economic status of western nation’s relative to Congos politics.
