I know it's super common for those who are neurodivergent to get easily overstimulated by sound, or to not like sound at all. Most people I know IRL who are neurodivergent in one way or another prefer quiet: they wear noise cancelling earphones/buds when possible, watch YouTube and short videos(tiktok/ytshorts/insta reels/etc) muted with captions, so on and so forth. Seems to be the standard experience.
But are there anyone on the ADHD/Autistic spectrums that need sound? Who feels safer when there's outside noise, and anxious if it's quiet? Who need a fan running, or radio going, rain on the window, some form of NOISE just to feel safe?
I cannot be the only crazy person here who cannot stand to be the only thing in a room making noise, and gets anxious if it's too quiet because "what if I'm the one ruining the quiet by breathing too loud?!" Like, there has to be someone else who goes into a quiet room full of people and feels like they cannot move or else the sound of their clothes will disturb people. I cannot be alone in this? I can't be the only one who wears sound amplifying earphones/buds to fend off the quiet? Right? That's a thing, right?
