When writing OFMD meta involving dropped plot points (e.g., Izzy was in the Siete Gallos, Ivan had gender discussions, the crew throwing Ed's body overboard), there is no evidence that these dropped points had any effect on the finished canon. Arguing that (dropped plot point) did have an effect, and even attempting to list what those effects are and what "inconsistencies" fell out of it, is deeply fallacious. We don't know when certain plot points were dropped, we don't know what was written before that drop and what after, and we don't know what was written with the dropped plot point in mind. Claiming otherwise is fanfiction, not meta.

I've written before that it is ridiculous to infer anything from the "crew originally threw Ed overboard" comment, especially as it was an obvious early drop, but it stands for any of these other dropped points. Even things that we know for certain that were dropped late (e.g., the makeover plot) cannot be brought into canon meta discussion. Meta is using what is onscreen and only lightly using inferences, not letting (often fallacious) inferences overtake the discussion.
