Only valid part of the leaked Thunderbolts trailer is Bucky washing his prosthetic arm in the dishwasher.

A) It implies that Bucky doesn't wear his prosthetic 24/7 which is a huge win

B) It actually makes sense because how else is he going to sanitize something with so many tiny little nooks and crannies that he uses in battle but also for normal every day things like eating and shit? I can't imagine he'd have a designated autoclave for it, although that would make the most sense.

I DID and I have sooo many feelings.

Is it the choice I would have made for this character? Oh, hell nah. Do I think they could make it work? ...actually, maybe.

Like: maybe Bucky's done with fighting, but he's not done with fighting. This guy grew up attached to the hip of Steve "I don't like bullies" Rogers, and you know the Wilsons have brought him up to speed on the evolution of the social justice movement over the last hundred years and given him plenty to read and think about, and he is not one to sit idly by while there are things that need fixing.

So I kind of like the idea of Bucky deciding that he's truly had enough of the fight, retiring to Delacroix to settle down and heal and figure out who he is when he's not in a goddamn battlefield of one kind or another, and realizing in horror that there is no peace to be had even here. That even in Sam's sweet little seaside hometown, there is generational poverty, there is racism and police brutality, there are kids going to school hungry. There are deep-rooted systemic problems that his generation thought the sophisticated people of this distant future would have figured out by now. And he's so fucking mad about it.

Unfortunately, these are problems you can't punch.

But they are problems you can do something about if you're powerful in the right ways. And he's halfway there already. As Cap's best friend and a famous war hero, Bucky Barnes has a platform to speak out upon, a voice that others don't. He has the power to be heard. It's a power very few people have.

So he gets up and he gets involved and he starts climbing the ladder, because Bucky's particular kind of bravery means never being afraid to get his hands dirty if it means doing the right thing. Once upon a time, he did the cold-blooded wetwork that wholesome Captain America could never be seen to do -- and now he uses that same grit, cunning, and determination to play unpleasant political games, and play them to win.

Politics is not his passion. But he's carried out worse missions. And god damn it, he'll do it, because it's like Sam and Sarah say: injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

I would like 110 minutes of Yelena, John Walker, and Bucky talking about *purpose* please and thank you, but since that probably won't get butts in seats, I will happily accept this spy thriller team up. And I do mean happily! I liked the trailer! Great choice to center Yelena. Great choice to put Bucky in a tux. GREAT choice of song.

I genuinely have no idea how a casual moviegoer will be expected to decipher any of this without catching up on at least SEVEN movies and TWO seasons of television. And BOY do I find it insufferable that even the movie title itself is already positioned to promote the next project, or so it seems. But, I am not a casual fan, and I probably will see the next project, so. Shrug!

I know it's uncool to keep rooting for the MCU, but between this and the Daredevil leak, I'm rooting SO HARD and also I never said I was cool. All this to say, no shade if you want to block any of my tags, because I'll probably be very insufferably excited and hopeful (and also a stupid idiot who is wrong, probably!) through the Spring of 2025.

I’m sure we’ve all heard the rumors that Bucky will die in Thunderbolts. And at this point, like, just do it. Put him and his fans (who are slowly being killed by the way his character is being treated) out of our misery. I’m so sick of the way his disability is treated as a running gag and now he’s also being made a congressman?!?! The MCU has done him so dirty.

Also, you can just tell that Seb is ready to be done. Pretty sure he’s the longest running MCU actor/character at this point. Let him be done.

Funny to receive this bc I was thinking earlier….I just know Sebastian is so damn tired of playing this character, esp when they don’t seem to give him any acting to do.

I hate to be like let’s keep our hopes up! But I’m trying. I gotta admit, I just don’t care the way I used to. We’re tired, too.

I've been talking about the expectations for Thunderbolts with a friend and we both agreed it would be too disappointing if they decided to end Bucky's storyline after everything he'd been through 🥺

I think he deserves a good ending, but not like it's supposedly being said! And again, if his screentime is too short then we might not even expect too much of it lol I'm just sad we're probably not gonna see him that much like before :(

I agree with you! Bucky should have a good ending, but they haven't truly fleshed him out yet, not really, so if they really plan to underuse him in Thunderbolts, I hope he'll at least have one good scene; it has to be a good dangling carrot, not a rotten carrot with explosives hidden inside! 🥲
