never really digested the fallout show here did i. i think the first half is pretty great. doesn't work on the whole. heres a thought dump

i like maximus's arc a whole lot. he has the emotional range of lucy while being more thematically cohesive and incidentally funny. his immaturity is played for pathos and it's very succesful imo. a brotherhood deserter is a good perspective character. i like it when he asks lucy to make his penis explode.

i thought the power armor looked very silly in the trailers. then it looked very silly in the show but it felt intentional and i liked it. wobbling rigid tin can clowns

the shady sands shit among fans was annoying. fallout fans often latch on to misunderstandings to feel directly victimized. it really is the show's fault for being too scared to say the exact year shady sands exploded but "this means new vegas isnt canon" is the take of someone playing catch-up & looking for technicalities to justify their discontent

shady sands and vault 33 being IN LOS ANGELES shatters the lore of fallout 1 but that's not a ragebait headline that would make 3d fans feel like theyre being victimized on purpose so you rarely see it talked about. (i also dont think inconsistency is the end of the world but it feels like it precludes them from ever talking about the actual lore of Boneyard)

moldaver really doesnt make sense & the 'ncr remnants' lore is so silly and unsuccessful it's beneath acknowledgement

"the high clerics of the commonwealth" is REALLY GOOD. it probably didnt mean to synergize with the 'maxson cults' conflict mentioned in fo4 but those two details together are incredibly rich to me. i love to imagine that after fo4 some pissed off west coast brotherhood warpriests showed up and purged the east coast contingency for heresy. that's so good

the ghoul potion follows up on the ghoul potion secret plot in fo4. im also not sure if this was intentional but it rules

establishing that ghouls heal from wounds miraculously was necessary and cool

"ghouls need a drug to not flip feral" is fighting words. we're not doing that

the performance on siggi was wonderful. the creative choices around the character are very troubled.

i like how they introduce the enclave with a shot of a scientist putting a puppy in an oven. everyone knows how to write the enclave except bethesda. enclave guys should have to live with that

i like how the first shot of the brotherhood is a bunch of guys in white tees laughing and beating the shit out of a peer for no reason

i want a vaguely magical character to address the dog as dogmeat

About act 2

So this could be just yapping, the experience is still very fresh and I have to rewatch it to catch everything but. I feel a bit underwhelmed. The show up to this point did a great job of managing the different storylines and the causality but in this act it began to fall apart. I felt like some happenings were left unhandled or were resolved underwhelmingly. With that said this show is still an amazing piece of art, I absolutely love it, and some of the things I will say could very possible be resolved in act III. For example, at the end of act I we saw Caitlyn appointed commander, but in this act she didn't really do anything with it. There was a chance for character development through this yet all we saw were enforcers still being violent, Ambessa pulling the strings as it was expected, Maddie being a rebound for her I guess..? But the act didn't show how power could've changed her, what policies she would bring or what decisions she made. It's especially frustrating because they did it so well with Jayce last season. Not to mention she didn't really show how she felt after leaving Vi.

Ambessa showed her teeth in this act, a little more than she should've. She got a lot of screentime which she used to assert dominance so to say. I think it was a bit too much of her, she didn't really change that much, other character's could've used this time better. Time is the weakness of this season for me so far, they want to show so much, they only have 3 more episodes and yet they don't use it wisely. The Black Rose and Mel being an actualy magic user(which I speculated for 3 years btw its amazing) could've been shown in 2 scenes and still would've the same meaning and depth. This is also true for Singed to a decree, tho not that much, I enjoyed his scenes, and the reveal with his daughter. With more characters back in the final act I'm a bit worried about this.

For Vi's depressive period I would've expected more than the montage we already saw in the trailer, but I guess that's okay. They did a great job with the sisters finding out Warwick is Vander, finding his old hideout, expressing their emotions, I really liked that part. She and Jinx came to terms very quickly after hating eachother and fighting so much but I can accept that it was overshadowed by Vander being alive, given that was the cause of them braking apart in the begining. I didnt really get why she went into Ambessas camp, and why that being captured act was necessary, I know they mentioned a diversion but it was a bit weird for me. This is on Caitlyn more, I dont think her flipping sides was justified enough, we didn't see her frustrated with Ambessa or Singed.

Jinx's story took a 180 turn with her not caring anymore. I loved to see her relationship with Isha develop, how emotions, positive emotions came back to her. She even got in touch with Vi for Vander and from her perspective it made more sense, cause I think she let go of her hate in act I already. I loved how they stopped fighting when Vi hurt Isha, that moment empathizes that they never wanted to hurt innocents and children, but through their story it happened again and again. I can't wait to see her lose her shit again in act III because of the traume she yet again experienced.

Viktor's story didn't go the way I thought it would but with this ending it kind of makes sense. I don't think he's actually dead, he still has a role to play. With he's community ruined he'll choose another path which I'm excited to see. This community didn't really seem that great with everyone connected him like a hive mind, and also we've seen with Salo that anyone he healed went through personality changes which is really shady. I can't wait to get to know the difference between him and Jayce.

And Jayce my boy the hate you're about to recive, you're in for a rough time. I actually liked how his character made everything more complicated in the last episode, and that he killed Viktor without a word is just Wild. Cant wait to see.

Warwick has been teased for so long and it was worth the wait. He carried this act for me, the sheer distruction in the prison was enough. And they gave him emotion with Vander still being inside, but I think with Viktor's "passing" that's over. He's gonna become the monster we waited for.

you caught yourself smiling at your phone before turning it off and looking around as you walked. 

a few minutes later you made it to your trailer. you walked in and turned on the light, cracking your knuckles then tossing your bag on the small couch you had. you took your phone back out and texted jack.

you thought it was sweet that there was a mutual thing between you and jack where it was completely needed and necessary to end all texts with an emoji, if either of you couldn’t find one you’d have to call or send an audio message.

about an hour later, everyone got their costumes on and ready to film. you were so thankful that the character you played, Elena, gave off the same vibes as you, so, you could dress her yourself. sometimes even with your own clothing. maybe it was your face ? you were very pretty, after all. a kind of rarer pretty, like a magical pretty ? but it definitely was not just your conventional attractive pretty. everyone got on set and you saw jack for the first time that day. you ran up to him and hugged him, your arms wrapped around his waist, in a friendly way. he hugged you back and you pulled away after a few seconds. 

“ y’know, i think you’re a pretty good-looking killer “ you said to him with a soft smirk. 

you guys always flirted with eachother, not even realizing. 

“ why thank you “ he said in a weird accent. 

before you started filming the prop guys had to fix some stuff so you guys got a quick break. you walked over to jack’s trailer, which he wasn’t in and sat down eating some gummies you found in your bag. after a few minutes jack comes inside without making noise since the door was cracked open already. he closes the door behind him silently and sits right next to you. he peeked over onto your phone as you played your favorite game. even though it wasn’t really fun to watch, he was insantly interested in anything you were. you didn’t even realize he was there because of how into it you were, besides, he didnt make a sound.  you noticed when he reached over to your bag of Haribos to get one. you jumped and almost dropped your phone.

“ shit, jack ! fuck ! you scared the life out of me “ you said with your hand that held your phone up to your heart. 

he burst out into a fit of laughter.

“ your- “ he couldn’t even speak without laughing. after about a minute or two of him laughing wiping his tears and you staring at him like he’s insane he finally says something. 

“ your face, ____ your face ! you looked at me like i’d just stabbed you ! “ he said, still with a smile from ear to ear on his face.

you looked at him with an unimpressed look on your face, scoffing at him as you bit back a smile. 

“ it wasn’t even that funny, idiot “ you said as you ran your tongue across your teeth trying not to smile. he saw right through you.

“ you wanna laugh so badly, don’t you ? ” he said as he looked down at you. you looked up at him, with a soft smile on your face. you laughed a little too as you had to give in. the room went silent and awkward as you’d looked at each others faces for a few seconds. unconciously, you both leaned in. you looked at his lips and your full lips parted a bit. your heart was pounding but you didn’t know that his was too. your lips touched and your hand travels up his chest to the back of his neck, sliding up to grab a handful of his curly hair. you pulled him closer and before you knew it you were turning your head into the kiss. both hands around his neck now as you tugged lightly on his brown locks. then you realized. you really realized. you were close to, but not quite making out with jack champion. he was your starboy. you’d never believed it, even if you told yourself from this morning that you kissed jack champion for a good, 30 seconds, you wouldn’t believe it.

you opened your eyes and they widened, looking back at him. his cheeks a flushed, rosy color. as were yours. you opened your mouth to say something but nothing came out.

you got up and he did as well after you, towering over you. he looked at you with eyes that were saying that he wanted you to say something. anything. you couldn’t. physically, nothing could come out. you had no idea what was going on, you never thought of jack in that way. or, well, in the way that you would kiss him for almost a minute straight kind of way. you walked out practically running to your trailer. 

all jack could do was watch, he was frozen and just as, if not even more shocked than you were. as you walked you remembered all the times you were around him. you’d get butterflies. he could be in the same room as you and you’d get butterflies but you’d labeled it as ‘nervousness’ for ‘no reason’. but it’d only ever happen around him. him. then you realized, the non-purpose flirting, the butterflies, the need to be around him. you were inlove with him ! god, how didn’t you notice before. that’s why everyone would look at you too with funny eyes whenever you’d flirt without knowing, thinking it was a friendship thing that only you two did around each other.

everyone probably definitely knew. they knew how you felt before you did. you opened the door to your trailer and locked it. you sat down as thoughts raced through your mind. how would you tell him ? how would you tell jenna and devyn and liana ? did he like it ? did he mean it how you meant it ? was it just a kiss for him ? .. is jack inlove with you too ?

i think theres so much fanmade minecraft animation content out there that looks so much better and more true to the source material. they should have called element animation

also really ironic that a movie about a game where you can do Literally Anything has the most basic plot of all time

also. who is this movie for? i’m assuming young kids but. the trailer doesn’t feel super kid-friendly? phrases like “what the hell” and “toolbag” plus the piglins looking Very scary. not that i mind these things personally but if i were a parent of a young child idk if my kid would be vibing with it? but then the plot feels too simple to be targeted at teens and adults too?

to be real though, im not a huge fan. i like the extra spikes (and actually rly dig the beardy spikes) and dont mind the pink, but the fact he looks so emaciated bugs me. like, i dont mind the idea of a 'thinner' goji design in general, but trying to cram legendgoji's current anatomy & proportions into a thinner design, seemingly for the purpose of letting him move faster? it just..... aint rly workin for me. like his arms n chest look way too big for how thin his midsection n thighs look imo. don't get me wrong i love a man with a slutty waist but i think they snatched him a lil too much

but yeah, he hauled ass in GvK and i thought it looked fine, so i don't really know why they felt it was necessary. i'll withhold my proper judgment until i see the final thing, since i know designs and vfx can go through a lot of tweaks after initial trailers, but im not loving it upon first look

I think one of the reasons for August's storyline this season was for us to understand him more as a character so that if he becomes King, we know that he'll actually try or that he may not have been as bad as we thought. (my opinion of August isn't necessary here).

we really see how much the monarchy consumes Wille this season. Though I don't know how we'd approach the topic of abdication in just one episode.

wille has said that one of the reasons he wants to remain Crown Prince is bcos of Erik. Knowing what we now know, i'm intrigued as to what will happen.

normally, there's a song in ep4 that's repeated in the final moments of the season. ep 4 in s3 doesn't end with a song and (from the one check I've done), i can't really hear any of the other songs used in that episode as the final song of the season. then again, i could be wrong

initially, i didn't think Redlight would appear in YR. He told Wille that his present isn't yet finished (which im sure is the song simon is currently working on), tho ig we could argue that he may sing a brand new song.

there are plenty of moments that happen that we don't see as viewers. so that jumper simon wears at the start of ep 2 looks like wille's. and if it is, then we didnt see the moment simon stole it wille gave it to him.

and when simon mentioned a mental health foundation, it implied that they may have had a discussion abt wille's anxiety before.

the piano scene in ep2 could have been a piano lesson that wille was giving simon, which probably means a lot more of these happened without us knowing

WHEN I FIRST WATCHED AND FINISHED S1 AND S2 OF YOUNG ROYALS, i knew wilmon would be together by the end of s3. like i was 100% convinced the show would end with them happy bcos that's what it had leaned towards the entire time. the vibe of it just screamed wilmon endgame to me.

i really hope past me was right, bcos the s3 promo really had me wondering. and then ep5 had me proper questioning. but netflix (and lisa) will have to pay for so much therapy if they arent endgame sooo🤷‍♀️

look im happy to get another show and im open to watching it and i will give it a chance.

but some stuff in the trailers really rubs me the wrong way.

april saying "isnt your whole thing a costume" in reference to ...just their bodies is icky and im dissapointed her kinda being mean to them is gonna continue. like- its not an initial shock thing like with 2003 and 2012 april its just "sure we're friends but im gonna call out how different you are even though your WHOLE goal is to fit in and be accepted.". i like her design and her story seems interesting and i hope she gets a real arc unlike a lot of aprils but like- the comments are un-necessary and it feels like shes making fun of them instead of being a supportive friend. in a trailer the others got praise and when it was mikeys turn someone was like "oh what do you do?" and mikey doesnt have a real answer. as a mikey fan i just cannot stand the constant dismissal he gets. if the series is gonna expand on that and take it seriously im totally in though.

i didnt mind the movie artstyle. its not something i enjoy and it kinda gave me a headache in theaters but objectivly there is nothing weong with it and a lot of work and talent was put into it. the show style is...ehhh? i dont like it. i dont hate it. i dont really enjoy the color palette. its not appealing to me and an art style can really change how much i enjoy a show.

and why does leo sound so much older. i cant be the only one hearing that right? like i know thats fairly standard for the shows but the movie had all this hype about the guys sounding and acting their age so???

tornadoes can literally happen everywhere and its really important to know basic safety so you dont end up impaled by a piece of flying debris going 70mph <3

if a tornado is approaching the rule is BASEMENT FIRST. if you dont have a basement then the center of an interior room on the lowest level of your house, such as a closet or interior hallway. get under a sturdy table and use your arms to protect your head and neck. DO NOT OPEN YOUR WINDOWS. you'll want to put as many walls between you and the outside as possible.

IF YOU ARE IN A MOBILE HOME/TRAILER YOU ARE NOT SAFE. again IF YOU ARE IN A MOBILE HOME/TRAILER YOU ARE NOT SAFE. at all. end of story, doesnt matter where you go in a mobile home. you NEED to plan ahead and seek safe shelter please for the love of god plan ahead.

DO NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER HIGHWAY OVERPASSES.

a weather WATCH, such as a tornado watch, means severe weather could happen. you don't need to get to shelter or anything, but make sure you have plans just in case. pay close attention to local weather information as they can change VERY fast.

a weather WARNING, such as a tornado WARNING, means severe weather is either about to happen or is currently happening in your area. execute your plan calmly and quickly.

a tornado EMERGENCY is an enhanced version of a tornado warning, issued VERY RARELY when a stronger tornado is about to strike populated areas and the national weather service expects widespread damage and/or injuries and fatalities. i cannot stress to you all how absolutely important it is to TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY!!!! I imagine he has quite a few little ones. Just from the nature of murdering people in cars, like there’s a wholeeeeeee lot that can go sideways there, but he’s so.. mm, skilled at what he does that there’s not much risk of him getting anything large/obvious. May have some bigger scars on his arms/legs/torso which can be easily hidden, tho. I imagine he has a lot of scars on his knuckles tho :3 (kisses them. mwah)

definitely not frivolous and I think he does spend decent stretches of time laying low, working odd jobs and saving up enough that he CAN fuck off for a while and go on a murder spree across the highways. he’s skilled enough that he’s obviously done that before (I.E. the spree we see in the film) and doesn’t have any concerns about moving between kills, so he must have money for motel rooms/paying for rides if necessary/buying food/etc. + naturally if this was ALL he did with his life he would’ve been caught wayyyyyyyy fucking sooner.

kingdom hearts discord rambling

kingdom hearts names be like 1, com, 2, 356/2, bbs, 3d, 1.5 compilation, 2.5 compilation, 2.8 afp, 3, ux, mom. Oh and mom stands for melody of memory but also master of masters because kh loves acronyms and double meaning

Kingdom hearts is a complicated series. One one hand all the games are hot messes the pacing grinds to a halt sometimes and the stories tend to be both too simple but all too complicated at the same time. Plot isnt great but on the other hand kingdom hearts has such great ideas and a unified aesthetic. I joke that nomura the director missed his calling as a short film and trailer director because he excels as videos shorter than 10 min like i dont know if you remember the old ffxv/versus xiii trailers but they were sooo good they sparked the imagination and had so many cool ideas and they all looked really cool. They were really exciting and that's what nomura is good at. But ask him to make a full game and it sort of falls apart. Not as bad as ff16 but messy very messily put together. I joke that the best parts of every kh game are the first 30min and the last 3 hours and you can skip everything else

i love kingdom hearts even if they arent perfect. The yozora fight was peak like thats nomura at his best with the cutscenes before and after the fight. Speaking of 1 game for the price of 2. Remind is necessary foe kh3. I remember watching kh3 on release and being disappointed because it felt like it was missing it's final arc like it was only 70% of a game. And i was right they chopped off the final arc and made it dlc. Damn you square enix.

I'm still not aure i like the 13 time traveling xehanort plot but it was introduced in dream drop distance so at least i'm used to the idea.

…. You know all the plot is in the non numbered games. 1 2 3 is for the disney cameos. I only actually played a few of them, mostly watches others play but I like birth by sleep the most probably. Ah but 2 is really good too. And 1 has such great concepts even if the gameplay is janky. 365/2 days is good too. Union x is also really good as long as i ignore the filler. And the dual narratives of chain or memories and dream drop are good. Riku gets such good chatacter aecs.

things i hated:

erasing/dulling down ben's relationship to the marsten house. that absolutely killed me. something so powerful about the book, to me, was the profound impact the house had on ben even into adulthood, and how that reflects in mark! ben going to 'find himself' is nowhere near as compelling, imo, as the like sheer gravitational pull of the house

no development of ben's relationships. matt should be a heartbreak, susan should be a heartbreak. and lewis is selling it but it sort of feels odd. we don't even get much time to care about anyone. i know time constraints mean you have less time to spend on these things but like that's what makes horror work; you have to care about these people. we needed ben and matt at dell's together, i think. just a little time with them together to show us that there's that kinship

no miranda! i think ben's grief is actually majorly important?? and it makes him a little shy with susan and idk i think it's a very good addition to his character what can i say

at some point they have mark call salem's lot 'salem's' for short which just sounds?? so wrong

ann norton shooting dr cody. her being the delusional new version of straker did not sit right for me. "you goddamn outsiders!!" felt unnecessary. like we reeled way back on the outsider ben thing, and then to lump that sentiment in with like antiblack racism felt... so weird. like that could have worked with proper setup but there was none

the ending :/ mark and ben leaving together has significantly less meaning to me when you take away the prologue. that's his son!!! where is 'do you love me?' 'yes. god, yes.' COME ONNNNN

things i could take or leave:

i thought it was nice that they gave susan a concrete career aspiration, although i did like that the book kind of confronted her realizing that she didnt necessarily want to stay in town and marry floyd tibbits even though thats what was what was expected of her.

i don't love how they did straker. he served his purpose and there's something successful about like the faux-genteel thing he has going on but i thought the coldness he has in the book is WAY scarier

killing parkins gillespie. like? why? doesn't feel necessary

susan insulting ben's book before she realizes it's him. like.... there is the world's biggest picture of him on the back cover... seems.... weird to not recognize him. and like i understand the power dynamic in the book is a lil off because she loves him so much but like... i think it would have been sweet for her to be like late looking up like 'sorry, just let me finish this last sentence...' and then being like lmao oh my god?? hi??

the drive in. theyre not cars they're coffins is GREAT, but susan not burning when he opened the trunk seemed a little odd even if the sunlight isnt direct? felt like there should at least be a lil sizzle. (also they dressed one of the vampires so similarly to susan's death outfit that i thought for a second they had ben kill her with zero fanfare lmao)

barlow's whole deal. he didn't feel very scary but what can you do?

the song sundown. it was really fucking sick in the trailer and then to hear it used as the bookends to the movie it was like oh that becomes super lame then because it is so audibly a song about 'dont you go fuckin my girlfriend or ill kill you' like??

things i loved:

visuals of the lot emptying out: the gathering milk bottles/newspapers on the steps, the empty excellent cafe

what makenzie leigh brought to susan! she just kind of gave her a bit more personality, made her more legibly/consistently headstrong. she was just so charming, i loved her

the inclusion of black characters! it adds to the story that mark isnt just being bullied for being new, like it's also straight up bigotry

alfre woodard as dr. cody was just great. i appreciate that she leaned into not being overly stoic. like. who would be?? that's an insane reaction.

the mrs. petrie in the morgue scene. i liked how they did that one. very eerie, and i loved that susan was there, the chaos of the popsicle stick cross. chefs kiss!

that double staking where ben tossed a vampire off of him and in a like direct kebab onto the one he just killed
