Ok but like to be a fucking nerd idiot this is one of the few pieces of info we get about Vulcan decor!!

I have two theories so bear with me:

We can see there is a lot of drapery, I bet that on Vulcan these excessive curtains are used to protect the inside of homes from the heat and radiation of the sun since Vulcan is much closer to the sun then earth is. On Vulcan red is like the color of nature and the ground so to him it’s the same vibe as like a mossy or forest green and I’m positive he has not thought about how his human coworkers would feel about the color of his curtains. In this theory, Spock has these curtains in his room because they make him feel at home and he puts up decorations on top because that how he did in his room back home.

Another theory though! Spock might have these curtains up as extra insulation in his room to keep it warmer. Since Vulcan is much hotter then earth, it makes since he’d be far more comfortable in warm to hot temps. If they were a thick and heavy kind of weird future insulation space fabric, then it might be a more efficient way to conserve heat then having some kind of plug in heater or running the thermostat constantly.

Either way, As far as the random threatening weapons go, I firmly believe that is not traditional and just his personal design choices as I too just tape shit I like on my walls and call it decoration. Also knowing Spock in his head it probably serves some kind of practical purpose, like if somebody breaks in his room he has a weapon on stand by etc.

Also can’t believe he has a strange Victorian dresser, who gave him that?

spock’s room decor is actually fucking bonkers. The weapons??? the big red velvet curtain??? like ok phantom of the opera go crazy.

So anyway this is the second project I did 10 minutes after the first one lmao

I was kind of hesitant to tackle organic forms but this ended up being way more intuitive than trying to do hard lines & flat shading.

After completing these I definitely have a much stronger understanding of the tips + a better idea of where I stand as far as ambitions go looooool
