Jelly, buddy as someone who knows next to nothing about Star Trek, please tell me what’s happening

ok so spock/kirk is like. the oldest ship ever, okay? they invented slash fiction. these guys pioneered fandom as we know it today

in the last movies they made with those original characters, they were separated into like. alternate universes. okay. these guys were never gonna see each other again and it was very sad and tragic and the fans were kinda sad about it but it is what it is.

then. they made a short film. right. like 8 minutes long. of kirk reuniting with spock. on spocks deathbed. and kirk holds his hand, and they look off into the sunset together.

they got to be reunited. they got to be together in the end. they got their romantic ending i swear to god im losing it.

if it helps. imagine if in 50 years time, they released an 8 minute video of old man dean winchester going to the empty and saving castiel and then they sat on the hood of the impala holding hands and watching the sun set. thats what its like. you see how insane that is??? do you get it???

PLEASSSEEEE tell me that someone else noticed the fucking Vulcan WEDDING BELL INSTRUMENT on the wall in the background in Unification????????

like I know that there are other Vulcan objects (like Spock's lute) in the room but I feel that there's something significant to the framing of the shot; the way Kirk walks through it, the way it's aligned to his head height (AND - the naming of the episode!!!! Unification!!! they are becoming one!!! Unification, as in: parted from me, and never parted. Never and always touching and touched. we meet at the appointed place!!!!! I await you!!!!!!! they are getting vulcan married (and following human tradition, they make out sloppy style (hand-wise), double claspin it, at the end - you may kiss the bride and whatnot, I suppose).

Im sorry but i have to talk about how the FIRST shot we see of kirk is him gently touching a flower

His softness is so important to his character that we are meant to instantly recognize that this is him. THIS is is his establishing shot in this short and i think thats so important

I mean it's no more canon than it was before, I get that, but just knowing that Spock wasn't alone when he died, that Jim, his Jim, showed up to hold his hand and that they were finally reunited at the end just makes me incredibly happy
