Star Trek (the original series) got remastered for the Blu-ray release and they didn't do the obvious thing of reverse-editing some of the Trials and Tribble-ations shots into the original Trouble With Tribbles.

Just have Kirk and Spock walk past Sisko and Dax, and stick O'Brien and Bashir into the mess hall brawl scene.

Ya know that would be rather illogical for a Vulcan/Vulcan language now that you mention it. Having t’hy’la mean this incredibly specific and close relationship that takes each of those components to make that special relationship, makes way more sense than having it be vague and could mean any one of them individually. It’s also strange to just have a word that could mean brother, friend, and lover. It makes more linguistic sense if it’s describing a a very particular type of bond or relationship. Taking aspects from all 3 words, instead of using one word interchangeably for friend, brother, lover.

just saying... t'hy'la is not meant to be vague. it is not only brother OR friend OR lover. it would be very illogical if the vulcan language had such a glaring lexical gap; if their only word for "friend" could be misconstrued so drastically.

no, spock thought of kirk as his "t'hy'la" for a reason. it was a precise word choice. if he meant only one of the definitions, he would have said just that. the multiple meanings are a feature, not a bug; the word represents their multifaceted connection that goes beyond simple friendship or romantic passion. it is brother AND friend AND lover and many other things too. just sayin
