Star Trek TOS is the best sitcom to ever exist

And I’m totally objective

Sci-fi shows nowadays are dramatic and realistic. Give me the artistic lighting, give me awkward fight scenes, let aliens wear drag queen level eyeshadows, convince me that the same decoration in every episode is a different planet, make a whole Alice in Wonderland subplot just because you found a big bunny costume in the garage, let the space pirates wear pirate costumes, dress the dog in the secondhand unicorn costume and say it’s an alien species, give me the most angsty episode I’ve seen right after the episode about some moving mama rock, give me the bROMANCE, give me HONOR, LOYALTY, DIGNITY, and some cool unrealistic but beautiful spaceships, give me flip phones as the coolest device ever, give me dramatic zoom-ins, give me thoughtful stares in the distance with dramatic music. Then we’ll talk.

Okay I reblogged this bc of how adorable it is too but realized I had been reading it in Spocks voice the whole time and I was picturing Janeway as the human.

tos was made for girls and gays idgaf. theres no other reason for kirk to have that green top w the plunging neckline or be ripping his shirts and showing nipple. also just. the aesthetic and costume design and the general campiness… everything is sparkly… it’s not macho At All. watched it as a kid expecting kirk to be a ladies man like all the fanboys make him out to be.. but no. that mf is making googoo eyes at spock every ep. and DONT get me started on spock. the bangs. the brows. the eyeshadow. the daddy issues.. please. use ur eyes people

Star Trek came on the air in 1966. It's been 58 years. And in the year of the Great Bird of the Galaxy 2024, it's still in the top 30 TV show fandoms on Tumblr. K/S (aka Spirk) is in the top 25 ships! Both are up by a lot from last year!

It's amazing! The history! The endurance! The inspiration!
