the first time I read the “he told them everything” scene before the reveal, I was SO prepared to defend wylan with every bit of my soul. bc a sixteen year old boy getting the shit beaten out of him on the orders of his father, who had tried to kill him over and over again just bc of his disability—the disability that brings him so much shame still? yeah, even if he had told his father everything for real, I would have stood by him. anyone who wouldn’t have truly does not understand just how much trauma wylan faced within such a short period of time.
Bruce Wayne flips through the pages of a sherlock holmes novel, enjoying the story when his phone rings. He answers, bringing the phone to his ear.
AUTOMATED VOICE
(via phone)
This is Gotham City Jail. You have a collect call from—
JASON TODD
(via phone)
Um, Jason.
BRUCE
Not again.
AUTOMATED VOICE
(via phone)
Do you accept the charges?
BRUCE
I... guess so. Talk Jason.
JASON
Roy and I are in jail, can you come down here with bail money again?
BRUCE
God damnit... What did you do?
JASON
It's not important.
BRUCE
What did you do? I won't be... that mad.
JASON (groaning)
We were at the gun shop, have to buy new bullets, you know and we walked past this car that... had a child in it. The child was covered in sweat, exhausted. So I, being a good citizen, smashed the other side of the window and helped the little angel out.
BRUCE
That's actually sweet, an overreaction, but sweet. Why is Roy with you?
JASON
Him? He beat the father's ass when they left the grocery store that's next to the gun shop. Roy, what did you say when the guy left the store with a cart full of Crona beer?
ROY (in the background)
It's on site for child abusers, especially when they double down on doing it!
BRUCE
Oh... honestly father of the year, not gonna lie. Why didn't he call Oliver?
JASON
The asshole hung up on him when he heard the automated message.
Bruce nods, understanding how much a prick Oliver can be.
BRUCE
Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes and don't worry I'll cover this, you don't have to pay me back.
JASON
Aww thanks.
"Oh har har Gotham is terrible to Joker and that's why he acts the way he does," Gotham worships a hot topic furry with the mental stability of a soggy cracker and thinks a 10 year old vigilante is perfectly normal
Yet again, a woman faces her abuser in court. Yet again people are smearing her for coming forward. No one should ever have to publicly share photos of their medical care to have people believe them. We stand by you Megan, we believe you 💜.
Still think it's "Putin's war"? Let's see what the russian soldiers who "don't really want it" discuss with their women who "are victims too"
Intercepted conversations of russians:
1. A russian soldier tells his mother how a ukrainian woman and her two children were killed in front of him. He relished the story. And she said that those innocent civilians were "enemies, fascists, they deserved it".
2. The second one talks about the order to kill civilians. He had seen the forest with corpses and now he could hear the flesh thrown on the roadsides. He said he would follow the order, that he would kill. Every civilian he saw.
3. A child from a russian school was collecting a parcel for her brother (?) to go to war. In the letter, she wrote to him: "Kill all Ukrainians as soon as possible and come back."
He and his mother are laughing.
4. "Mum, I killed civilians. I would throw them into a trench and shoot them in the head. They begged and pleaded, but I shot them in the head." He laughs when he tells this story.
5. "Do you know what 21 rosettes from a human body are? I helped, I did it. I got such a thrill. To cut them. Torture them". Mother says that if she were in his place, she would also be satisfied.
Another said that killing children is not murder. "Because killing Ukrainian children is right!"
PHEW that one took a WHILE! hid lottsa little details in this time :)
I am so excited for all these guys to meet (I have written the dialogue and drawn teh thumbnails) I really hope you guys liked this one because i am actually quite proud of these pages :D
When Palworld came out, it took the gaming world by storm and became an instant hit with players who enjoy a mixture of creature collecting and survival base building. However, when a new game stirs up this much publicity, it catches both positive *and* negative attention.
There's no question about how similar Pals look to Pokemon, and there's much debate over the authenticity around Palworld's model designs. So much so, people were raising alarm to Nintendo to investigate Pocket Pair for IP infringement. Which Nintendo responded with a lukewarm, "We'll look into it."
After months of silence, Nintendo has now come forward with a lawsuit against Pocket Pair, but not for what we thought. The lawsuit is not about creature design, it's over *patent infringement.*
The patent in question is specifically over the mechanic of allowing the player to perform "an action of launching" to either "catch a field character or cause a fighting character to fight against a field character."
In simple words, the very act of throwing an item to capture a creature, or to summon a creature to fight another.
This mechanic is fundamental to nearly ALL creature collecting games.
Regardless of your personal feelings regarding Palworld vs Pokemon, this hopefully sounds wrong to you. This legal battle is little more than a billion dollar juggernaut swinging down their hammer onto an indie studio. It doesn't matter Pals *look* like pokemon. It DOES matter that they are demanding absolute control over creature collecting mechanics.
The patent in question does not even care if the item is sphere shaped like a pokeball. The item used for capture is irrelevant in this extremely broad patent.
Ultimately, Palworld is caught in this because of the massive attention it got, and this lawsuit is setting a deeply disturbing precedent. This lawsuit says, "If you look like a competitor to us, we'll sue you for daring to try."
And that's a danger to all creature collecting games, not just Palworld.
people talk a lot about utena and anthy's weird gay beds but i think there's something to the room itself too. because it isn't really much of a room at all. the giant window and the doorway to the main room of the tower that's barely covered by a see-through curtain leaves no room for privacy or even the simple feeling of safety and security that comes from being able to close a door to your own space. it specifically stood out to me when i was watching episode 32 yesterday with that scene at the beginning of the episode where utena gets up and stretches and anthy's voice immediately cuts in from the kitchen, where (more importantly) akio also is. because there is no seperation at all really between the rooms in that house. which i think is possibly symbolic of nobody being allowed to set any boundaries there either. that bed is where some of utena and anthy's most vulnerable and intimate moments happen, but they don't have a space that's truly theirs. it's all akio's. the panopticon....
I still maintain the headcanon that while Sanemi is a brutal hardass when it comes to overseeing training for the junior Corps members, there is a very subtle, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it difference between how he addresses male v. female slayers.
In short, I simply don’t see Sanemi as the type to name-call/incessantly berate the female slayers. Don’t get me wrong — he’s just as critical of them as he is toward the male slayers. If you’re not up to snuff, then you’re not up to snuff. You’re not getting special treatment from him, so don’t waste your time hoping otherwise.
But he refuses to name-call them/degrade them. Because, as much as Sanemi knows his anger is inherited (and as much as he resents it), he refuses to become his father’s mirror. He watched his father berate and abuse his mother and siblings every day, and while Sanemi knows he can’t be soft on the lower-ranked slayers, he also can’t bring himself to be completely his father’s son (even if he knows, deep down, that he is).
back when the good omens show first came out, i saw this fandom quickly dismiss concerns transfems had about the transmisogynistic tropes present in the show, the book, and gaiman's other work. i saw this fandom praise a depiction of a man disguising himself as a woman with the sole intention of gaining access to a child and influencing them into evil as a bold, positive representation of gender nonconformity. unfortunately i, being very young at the time and not as familiar with transphobia as it applied to trans women as i was with how it applied to myself (a tme enby), was part of this dismissal. i, like many other good omens fans, participated in brushing aside trans women's valid concerns in favor of supporting neil gaiman's bullshit. but i have since left the fandom, learned, and realized how fucked up it was.
so it's honestly sickening to see this same fandom now use defense of and support for trans women as a shield to excuse neil gaiman's bullshit once again. i believe that tortoise media had motives for wanting to break the story that had more to do with gaiman's milquetoast support for trans rights than they did concern for his victims, but i also believe the victims. i wish scarlett and k had come forward about their abuse with literally any other outlet, and it's entirely possible that one or both of them have bigoted beliefs about trans people themselves, but i'm not going to dismiss what they went through just because they aren't perfect victims or perfect people.
it's without question that gaiman had sexual relationships with both of these women, both being in their early 20s while he was in his 40s and 60s, one being a fan he met when she was a teenager and the other being his employee, respectively. that alone should make you want to distance yourself from him and his work. it also seriously makes me doubt his innocence that his own defense of himself is that k is just still so upset about the way their relationship ended that she's making sa allegations to get back at him almost two decades later and that scarlett is literally delusional and has created false memories of assault due to a medical condition that she does not fucking have.
we have seen time and time again that victims get absolutely no reward for coming forward about abuse, especially so when their abuser is a wealthy public figure. the idea that women are incentivized to create false allegations is a straight up lie and i had thought, after you all were fooled by depp and his pr team not too long ago, that we had all moved past believing it, but i guess fucking not.
