୨ৎ Hormonal acne survival guide

(Images from Pinterest)
My mom had it, my dad had it, and pretty much everyone in my family struggles with it to this day. Blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, papules, large pores, scars, the kitchen sink. These are my most honest, tried-and-tested techniques, split up into low-effort (AKA low budget) and high-effort (AKA expensive) tips that help my skin remain healthy against all odds.
꩜ Low effort techniques
~ Water. If you're not hydrated enough, your skin WILL reflect that, no matter how many k-beauty products you own. Let's face it. Water also helps with your overall health -> your mood -> your body image, so either way it's a win. ~ Eating foods that suit your skin: Vitamin C from citrus fruits or paprika, vitamin E from sunflower seeds and almonds, Lycopenes from tomatoes, polyphenols from black tea, Omega-3 from flaxseed and fish... Let me know if I should make a dedicated post! ~ Avoiding dairy: Unless they're 100% organic, most dairy products are filled with oestrogen that they gave the cows to produce more milk. Skipping these products makes *such* a difference. ~ Rice water: Wash some white rice and put it in a bowl of water for 20-40 minutes. Drain out the rice and put the remaining cloudy liquid into a spray bottle. Rice water has been used for centuries to brighten skin, tighten pores and fight acne, especially in Asian cultures where rice was abundant. Use it as a toner after washing your face. ~ Green tea toner: Boil some pure green tea, let it cool and pour into a spray bottle. Green tea is anti-inflammatory and soothing, and is great for clearing up skin. ~ Protecting your face from bacteria: Use a separate towel for your face and body, and avoid touching your face and picking at pimples at all costs! If you want to be really diligent, change your pillowcases every second night (I only do it weekly, but different people have different skin). If you have ADHD and need to fidget or pick at something, get a fidget toy like an infinity cube or a wacky track to keep your hands busy and away from your face. ~ FOR BODY ACNE: Avoid using soaps with any sort of fragrance. Get yourself a hypoallergenic soap, even better if sulfate-free, as fragrances and sulfates dry and irritate sensitive and acne-prone skin.
꩜ High effort techniques
- Isotretinoin: a medicinal treatment commonly branded as Accutane or Oratane, which cuts back your skin's sebum production, which is the root cause of most acne types. It's a prescription product, but it is not very difficult to get one. - Salicylic acid serum: LIFE SAVER. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid, which means it penetrates into clogged pores and clears them. Together with an AHA such as lactic or glycolic acid (NOT at the same time, though) you'll have clear skin in less than 2 weeks. ~ Retinol/Retinoids such as Adapalene gel (Differin): NOT to be used while on Isotretinoin, but if you aren't, this is a go-to for acne and even hyperpigmentation. Vitamin A (Retinol) works by increasing cell turnover and collagen production. ꩜ That's all for today! Thank you for reading all of that, and if you try some of these out, keep me posted with your results!

Mina's guide— skincare tips.
Drink water, and lots of it.
Sunscreen, daily— this is to prevent sun damage and potential hyperpigmentation.
Sleep— at least eight hours is crucial. It’s called “beauty sleep” for a reason.
Frequently change your pillowcases— wash and change them every few days, and silk cases are very beneficial for skin and hair health.
Healthy habits— need I say more? What goes into your body reflects on the outside, so stick to natural foods, maybe try 80/20ing your diet.
Daily movement— this can be any form of physical exercise (walking, cardio, pilates, yoga, etc).
Revise your current skincare routine— how are the products you’re using affecting your skin positively or negatively, and have you been using them correctly?
Seek out professional opinions— make an appointment with a dermatologist, and make any necessary changes to your current routine to improve your overall skin health.
…and finally, be patient with yourself. Healthy skin isn’t an overnight thing. Be patient and consistent, don’t stress, and you’ll see results.

The Power in Being Pretty 🦚
Only Unsuccessful People Can Afford to be Insecure
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; so best beheld remarkable. Every day I strive to show up as the best version of myself in private and public. This simple objective has amplified my self-concept and work ethic. Whether we blame it on the patriarchy, or blame it on society, there's no denying that humankind is visually motivated. You will see more people in a day than you speak to, and what you pick up will dictate how you perceive that person. Beauty is a performance; it is a sacred dance that men and women alike use to glamourize their reality.
Glamour~ an attractive or enticing quality that makes certain people or things appealing. The decision to be glamourous is an enchanting feat. It requires self-discipline, self-love, and self-respect. The energy you carry is a reflection of your state of being. To glamourize oneself is to energetically enhance existence.

To truly benefit from the effects of glamour, you must call back your energy cleansed, recalibrated, and only belonging to you; to be used only by you for self-empowerment. Energetic Alchemy is a prerequisite for prosperity. Mastery of this skill is the essence of glamour. Glamour encapsulates the mind, that is where we start.
Self-care means doing the things that make you feel most like yourself. Spend time with yourself, away from the noise. When you begin your self-care ritual; allow your energy to flow authentically. Let your mind race and take you on a journey through your psyche. Converse with yourself, every part of you is a unique entity. Embrace the All. You are a gem, a single stone made up of a multitude of facets; every one as beautiful as the last. No fragment can exist without the other.

Hygienic maintenance is the foundation of abundance. Dedicate yourself to cleansing your mind, body, and spirit. Remove the junk and gunk to make space for you to shine. A diamond in the rough is merely a gem unable to be seen.

I missed you!!! Can you tell me your favorite skincare products? I’ve been on the hunt for something new! I have very congested skin and I’m 28 so I’m interested in anti-premature aging :)
preventing premature aging 🥥🤍

great question! i'm also working diligently to prevent premature aging in my twenties and i've been using all of these products for at least 3+ months and have noticed a huge improvement on my skin.
morning routine + products:
cleanser: la roche posay purifying cleanser
toner: the ordinary milky toner
vitamin c cream: twent1 saffron + squalane radiant cream
vitamin c oil: twent1 vitamin c enzyme oil (SO good and very lightweight)
spf: supergoop glow screen
evening routine + products:
cleanser: same as above
toner: same as above
moisturizer: cerave daily lotion
retinol: twent1 indian bakuchiol oil (this is a retinol alternative and it’s just as effective imo).
extra helpful skincare tips:
facial steaming 1-2x per week (i like to steam with matcha powder and himalayan salt after i cleanse)
putting an oil on AFTER creams. oils don't hydrate, they seal.
learning to sleep on your back. i like to put 2 claw clips on each side of my face to avoid me rolling over to the side!
taking a collagen powder in my morning smoothie.
doube cleansing with my cleanser. i don't buy an oil cleanser.

💿: Hey, U-Go-Girl⋆.ೃ࿔* 🎀⭐️
 ?? . . . documenting files … 𓈒 ݁ ₊ > 💿
₊˚💿✩; Hey Dolls 2Day we’re gonna be talking about building self confidence/ self esteem and embracing your natural self!! this post is heavily inspired by U-Go-Girl By Lee Hyori Bc honestly that song literally screams CONFIDENCE!! {Long Post Ahead}
DISCLAIMER !! some of this stuff might mo resonate with some folk because of certain circumstances like social anxiety i know bc i literally have social anxiety + agoraphobia and these are also some things ive done to cope with anxiety and stuff like that so don’t even!
⋆🎀˚⊹ PILE 1 ;
Internal > Looking the Part > Baby Steps > Take Up Space > affirmations > body language > Embarrassment
⋆👖˚⊹ PILE 2 ;
External > Cutting People off > Opinions > being desperate > boundaries > compete with your self
₊˚🌺✩ ₊˚⭐️⊹♡ ˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚
₊˚🪼✩ 1; Looking The Part !! ୭₊˚
When you Look good you feel good!! it doesn’t matter what you look like when you’re put together + confident you’re automatically attractive!! 🎀 4 instants everyday even on lazy days always make sure you’re
Showered
Hair Put together
a cute outfit that YOU like
clean nails
fresh breathe
clean skin
moisturized + smelling AMAZING!!
Hot Tips ! ;
when it comes to Hair + Skincare + Oral Hygiene & Outfit personally i recommend Hair > Oral Hygiene > Outfit because when it comes to hair care certain products in your hair product can also have an affect on your skin and when brushing your teeth + mouth wash and scrubbing toothpaste get all over your mouth and water its messy!
₊˚📟✩ 2 ; Baby Steps !! ୭₊˚
For all my folks out there who are shy/have social anxiety/introverted or just need to get out more baby steps is the way to do it i learned this from the therapist so basically i rank things from least to most anxiety inducing (?) like sitting outside or something and i do the smallest task for about how ever long i possibly can and i keep doing it till i progress and start doing harder things !!
₊˚ 🍭✩3 ; Take up Too much Space !! ୭₊˚ (The wizard Liz Inspired)
Never dim your light to make others comfortable when it comes to confidence and being yourself you gotta be unapologetic about it!! you focus should never be on other people and how they perceive you , that literally none of your business and that’s literally a waste of time and draining your own happiness So where that dress, style your hair this way, showcase your true self and fuck how other people feel that a THEM Problem not Yours!!
₊˚ 💬✩4 ; Affirmations !! ୭₊˚
Affirmations Baby!!! Having daily affirmations is a MUST!! not only boost your self esteem and confidence but they will also bring you out of the mindset that your “below the bar” & help you validate yourself without needing outside opinions!!
What i like 2 do it is keep set of daily affirmations i repeat when i wake up & throughout the day and i like to put them all around my space like put sticky notes of mirrors, keep pinterest boards of affirmations, repeat then while getting ready, making a self concept playlist full of songs that make me feel my best etc.!! (P.S Affirmations tapes are TOP TIER)
. . . DYK?
The kinds of media you consumer can sometimes affect your over all mood, self image & mentality so be mindful of the media you consume when it comes to any form of media !!
₊˚ 🍋🟩✩5 ; Body Language!! ୭₊˚
SUPER IMPORTANT!! wether you’re in an active conversation or just walking down the street body language will play a huge role in not only how you feel but will also help you be confident & have people be more attracted to your energy
so what were gonna do is swap all of the awkward body language and swap them out!
Tense Shoulders > Drop & relax your shoulders and put them back
Looking down when walking > Hold your head up head
Slouching > Stop slouching and Keep your make straight
When you wave don’t shake your palm > use your 3 fingers in the middle to wave in an half way down and up motion
Sit in the Duchess Pose basically it putting both of your legs together and slant them 2 the right diagonally !!
STRUT YOUR STUFF!! I can’t stress this enough a good runway strut is always on your side i promise you this!! you gotta act like your a famous super model like naomi, shalom, yasmeen, linda etc. you gotta act like your opening for a runway or something and just be FABULOUS!!
₊˚ 🏩 ✩6 ; Embarrassment !! ୭₊˚
I Fully believe embarrassment is a SOCIAL CONSTRUCT like people who are consider “embarrassing” are literally just being themselves and when people see a person being themself they can’t handle and feel this dire urge to “humble” them and
An example of this comes from one of my favorite movies Legally Blonde!! when elle first stepped foot on Harvard campus people were automatically on her tail for just being herself and what did she do?? NOTHING. and thats exactly what you gotta do view their opinion as INVALID and keep doing you!
“Out of Sight Out of Mind”
Hey! You made it to pile 2 Lucky You!
?? . . . loading files … 𓈒 ݁ ₊ > 💿
⋆.˚ ᡣ𐭩 Cutting People Off .𖥔˚ 🐬
SPOILER ALERT!! The people you surround yourself with can definitely play a role in how you perceive yourself, your individual opinions, how you think & behavioral action due to peer pressure, sometimes toxic people can seep into your social circle and you might no even notice it
Signs You need to cut someone off!
- never supporting you
- repeating the same toxic behavior
- never being happy for you
- copying everything you do
- never fully apologizing
- trying to bring you down for literally anything
- talking behind your back
- trying to leave you out
- is hypocritical towards you
- is in competition with you
⋆.˚ ᡣ𐭩 Opinions! .𖥔˚ 👙
Again like i said people opinions on you is not a you problem its a them problem especially if it’s a negative opinion it doesn’t matter you don’t need to explain yourself to anyone especially not someone who won’t even take the time to know you before making up stupid assumptions! and you sure al hell don’t need to change to fit in with anyone , you were meant to stand put and thats okay
“No Problem i don’t care You’re you I’m me” - Jang Wonyoung
⋆.˚ ᡣ𐭩 Being Desperate.𖥔˚ 🪸
OH GIRL!! Being desperate is embarrassing for you especially if it’s over someone you have romantic interest in unt unt that simply won’t fly with me! if they’re ghosting you, being inconsistent, telling you one thing but acting another way etc. don’t be desperate for someone like that you deserve someone better! people like this probably don’t care and its silly of you to be desperate for their attention & you’re far too special for that
⋆.˚ ᡣ𐭩 Boundaries .𖥔˚ 🛍️
Always have boundaries and never let anyone over step them, if you set a boundaries in a friendship and they keep crossing that boundaries they don’t care about your boundaries don’t let someone continue to disrespect you & your boundaries
HOT TIP . . .
Don’t laugh at jokes that are at your expense
If someone is trying to embarrass you be upfront with them and tell them how you feel
⋆.˚ ᡣ𐭩 Compete with yourself .𖥔˚ 🌤️
See yourself as your only competition always try to out do yourself not matter what in any category even if its doing something productive one day to have a better day than you did yesterday i adapt this mindset with my blog and my self improvement i need to out do myself all the time im the only person i need to compete with!!

#some posts about fatphobia in healthcare go from true to false sadly#lots of true stories about doctor prejudice which is very real (doctors are lazy and will almost always shoot for the easiest answer)#but then theres stuff about certain medicines not working as well for people above certain weights#and some of these could be improved to work for people at these weights (some of the weights are low) but not necessarily all of them#the big one is people talking about weight limits for surgery#mate. it will kill you. you will actually die in real life forever.#im sure theres room to improve surgical technology and techniques to raise the weight ceiling for at least some procedures#but the reality is that there is fat under your skin which the surgeons have to get through#and fat on your organs#which can cause serious complications. its not prejudice at all it is the reality of the situation. does this suck? yeah. is it fair? nah#but its not discrimination#ditto for certain equipment and procedures and broad health outcomes.#I do hope that this changes with improvements in technique and technology because sometimes the ceiling is really quite low#and this is not to diminish the very real prejudice that especially fat (or sometimes “fat”) women deal with

𝄞⨾𓍢ִ໋ 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵, 𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴

A complete guide to hand care for the porcelain dolls among us
While you certainly don't need ten steps involving harsh exfoliation, that weird red serum from the Ordinary or baking your hands in plastic gloves, taking care of your hands can be very rewarding, seeing as you essentially stare at them all day every day.
Let's clear some misinformation: you cannot make your fingers physically longer, no matter how many hand exercises you do. The length of your fingers is reliant on your genetics, and what kind of activities you did while your bones were still growing (Which is why pianists have such beautiful hands). You can, however, change the texture of your skin, correct hyperpigmentation and increase flexibility of and circulation in your hands.
Strategies
Before going to sleep, massage a hydrating moisturiser or lotion into your hands, and cover with cotton gloves. Alternatively, you could wait until the product is absorbed to go to bed.
Wear sunscreen: SPF 50 is best. Try to reapply after washing your hands, and every two hours if you're in the sun. UV rays cause 'photo-aging' (aka wrinkles, rough texture and moles) and can contribute to skin cancers. Use a non-comedogenic, mattifying sunscreen (As to not rub the product off when using your hands).
Keep nails trimmed, filed and at an appropriate length: If you play a string instrument, you know that long nails are a no-go. The same goes for gardening, volleyball, a job that involves typing, etc.
If your nails are stripy, this usually indicates a protein, vitamin A or zinc deficiency. Different people are more susceptible, but I recommend a well-rounded multivitamin supplement. (Or, better yet, improving your diet)
Ingredients to look for
Glycerin: a gentle and universally compatible humectant
Shea butter: a natural ingredient for deep hydration
vitamin E: an inflammatory antioxidant with natural sun protection
Ceramides: lipids naturally produced by the skin, which restore and maintain the skin barrier
Urea: combats roughness and dry texture through its keratolytic properties.
SPF: at lest 30, to prevent photo-aging and skin cancers
+ Cotton gloves: synthetic materials like polyester aren't very breathable and can cause irritation
What to avoid
Exposing your hands to cleaning chemicals: wear rubber gloves when cleaning the kitchen, washing the dishes or the car.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers: extremely drying to the skin, and can cause roughness and cracking.
Fragranced soaps: fragrance in any beauty product is a bad idea, as it is drying and an acne, rosacea and eczema trigger.
Biting at your fingernails: not only does this make your nails look unsightly, it is also very unhygienic, as dirt and germs accumulate underneath them throughout the day.
Picking at cuticles: consider a fidget / sensory toy to keep your hands busy.
Extra: how to do a hand massage
Massages improve circulation and relax muscles that we use strenuously. Almost everyone uses their hands all day to do all sorts of tasks, so this is universal.
Apply an oil, lotion or Vaseline to reduce friction
Press your thumb into your palm, and move in circles around the centre.
Take each finger at a time and close a fist around it, pressing down and sliding upwards, like you're getting toothpaste out of a tube.
Press your one thumb onto the muscle of the other, on your palm, and move around that muscle to relieve tension.
Press the very tips of your fingers between your index finger and thumb.
Anyhow, that's all. Hope you've found at least one thing helpful!

Clear skin is more than just skincare: Gut Health
(A science based read)

What you eat is shown through your skin and on body. If your constantly shoving junk down your throat, junk is what will be shown on you. Essentially what you eat is what you are.
Eat bad -> bad skin
Eat good -> good skin
If your constantly breaking out and you feel icky. You need to figure out what is up with your gut health.
Research suggests many skin disorders are linked to an altered or unbalanced gut microbiome.
“When the relationship between gut microbiome and the immune system is impaired, subsequent effects can be triggered on the skin, potentially promoting the development of skin diseases.”
“13 Several dermatologic conditions, such as acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and rosacea are linked with intestinal dysbiosis. 223 Many studies have associated gastrointestinal health with skin homeostasis and allostasis, and there is evidence of a bidirectional interaction between the gut and the skin.”
Diet, drugs and other consumed substances affect skin through gut microbiome:
“Several studies have related the diversity and pathogenicity of the gut microbiome to skin disorders, which can be significantly altered by long-term dietary patterns. 43,105–107 Diet can affect the skin condition both positively and negatively through alteration of the gut microbiome, indicating that there is a relationship between the skin and the gut. 16 Not only diet, but also many synthetic and natural products consumed by humans as drugs can provide direct and indirect evidence on the connection between gut microbiome and skin.”
High and low fat diet:
“In the gut, a diet high in industrial trans-fatty acids increases the number of harmful microbes (such as Desulfovibrionaceae and Proteobacteria) while suppressing populations of advantageous microorganisms (e.g. members of Bacteroidetes, Lachnospiraceae, and Bacteroidales). 121 Refined and hydrogenated oils (e.g., soybean, sunflower, safflower, canola, corn, and vegetable oils) can cause inflammation in the gut, which then manifests on the skin.”
Industrially produced trans fat can be found in margarine, vegetable shortening, Vanaspati ghee, fried foods, and baked goods such as crackers, biscuits and pies. Baked and fried street and restaurant foods often contain industrially produced trans fat.
Prebiotics:
“133,134 Prebiotics, such as fructooligosaccharides, galactooligosaccharides, inulin, polydextrose, lactulose, sorbitol, and xylitol are a promising group of compounds that modulate the gut microbiome and can also provide skin benefits.”
“The effect of prebiotics on the skin condition is also obvious. For example, a Lactobacillus extract helps to reduce the size of acne lesions as well as inflammation by reducing skin erythema, improving skin barrier function and lowering the microbial counts on skin.”
types of prebiotics include:
Chicory root
Garlic
Onion
Dandelion greens
Apples
Bananas
Jerusalem artichoke
Asparagus
Probiotics:
“Probiotics can prevent gut colonization by pathogens and support anti-inflammatory responses by producing metabolites with anti-inflammatory properties. The most common probiotic microbes currently in use belong to the genera Bacillus, Bifidobacterium, Enterococcus, Escherichia, Lactobacillus, Saccharomyces, and Streptococcus. 143,144 Several beneficial effects of probiotic consumption have been demonstrated on many dermatological conditions, thus proving the existence of the gut-skin axis.”
Common types of probiotics include:
Lactobacillus: This is a common probiotic found in fermented foods, such as yogurt.
Bifidobacterium: This probiotic is found in some dairy products and helps with the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.
Saccharomyces boulardii: This is a type of yeast found in many probiotics. You can find these probiotics and more in supplements and select foods.
Yogurt
Buttermilk
Cottage cheese
Miso soup
Sauerkraut
Kefir
Kimchi
Tempeh
Protein:
“The proteins from animal-based food sources may have better effects on gut microbiota compared to plant-based food sources due to the higher protein digestibility of animal proteins and the fact that the digestion of plant proteins may be limited by the presence of antinutritional factors found in plants [67]. Animal proteins have more balanced essential amino acids than plant proteins [68,69] and are thus considered higher quality protein.”
“Dairy and meat protein intake at a recommended level increased the abundance of the genus Lactobacillus and maintained a more balanced composition of gut microbiota compared to soy protein, which is beneficial to the host [25,26,28].”
“Your body makes lots of different peptides, each of which has a different role. Scientists can also make synthetic peptides in the lab. Companies have been adding peptides to skin care products for decades.”
High protein foods:
Salmon
Chicken breast
Tuna
Red split lentils
Tofu
Greek yogurt
Fibre:
“Dietary fibre is comprised of plant-based carbohydrates that cannot be metabolised by digestive enzymes encoded in the human genome, such as amylase. Instead, fibre can only be metabolized by certain species of gut microbiota through anaerobic fermentation, with the main product of this reaction being SCFAs.”
“Dietary fibre is a carbohydrate in plant foods, such as whole grains, vegetables, fruit, and legumes, which have been dominant in human diets for millions of years. From the Paleolithic era, when the hunter-gatherers mainly ate fruit and wild grains, to the agricultural era, when crops began to be cultivated, the ancients consumed more than 100 g of various digestible and indigestible dietary fibre from plants per day [1,2].”
Fibre rich foods:
Chia seeds
Lentils
Broccoli
Avacado
Carrots
Red kidney beans
Raspberries
XOXO

Mindfulness: Be present in the moment. Pay attention to your surroundings, savor the tastes and smells, and fully engage in your activities.
Create Rituals: Develop daily or weekly rituals that bring you joy, whether it's a special morning routine, an evening walk, or a cozy bedtime ritual.
Surround Yourself with Beauty: Decorate your space with things that make you happy – flowers, candles, artwork. Create an environment that uplifts your spirits.

Skincare Routine for Hyperpigmentation

Hi! This is Ivy <3 I used to struggle. with breakouts, oil, and hyperpigmentation for about 3 years. Among other things, I tried some of The Ordinary and Good Molecules products in America, then Tretinoin (helped for a couple weeks) and biweekly facials when I moved to Shanghai. Nothing worked and my skin didn't significantly improve. I stripped my routine down to the essentials and started over again. I've seen MASSIVE improvements, so I thought I'd share with you all.
I started using Garnier Micellar Water to wipe my make up off.
I saw a tiktok saying that salicylic acid was good for darker skin tones. I went to Sephora and I bought the Inkylist Salycic Acid Cleanser. I swear by this now.
The first time I visited the pharmacy in Italy, I told the pharmacist what I was using on my skin (Avene) and she immediately redirected me to using the Effaclar Duo (+) as a moisturizer. This really helped prevent breakouts and slowly lightened my spots. It's really strong and I don't need it anymore. Now I use the normal La Roche Posay Moisturizing Lotion.
I switched my SPF out for some REAL mineral sunscreen. I loveee Bubbly Solar Mate SPF. Sunscreen helps even the skin tone and protects from further sun damage.
Clean off as much of your make up as possible before cleansing, keep your skin properly hydrated, and WEAR SPF.
I don't know what the science is or what magic cleared my skin, but my skin tone is so much more even, I rarely get any break outs, and I'm a lottt less oily.
