10. Hey! For ITMF, this is probably a long-shot, but I suddenly thought of this concept and would adore if anyone knew if someone had written it!

With how classist the society is, I was wondering if anyone knew of any fics where someone uses their status for WWX so justice could be had or WWX wouldn't be harmed. Preferably LWJ, but I would take any character so long as the only romance is wangxian.

I remember there being a bit of this in a "watching their lives" fic once (tho icr the name) where it was noted that NHS kept putting himself between WWX and those of a higher status (JC?) so that they wouldn't be as aggressive.

Just something along those lines, where someone leverages their status as support and turns the situation in their favour.

And if it leads to some misunderstandings on the topic of marriage and propagation—well, it is not Wen Qing’s fault if Lan WangJi became the world’s best and worst matchmaker, making sure that children everywhere had parents. Fic is finished at 34 chapters and about 175,000 words. But as I read through before posting chapters those numbers may fluctuate.

NOTES: I honestly may have already shared this fic but I'm not even upset by it because poor Lan Zhan LOL. Also Wen Qing deserves an oscar for her performance; the fact that the entire cultivation world truly believes Wei Ying birthed a-yuan, Lan Zhan's biological son is WILD. A fic about saving the wen's through the worlds biggest (but best) misunderstanding.

They make assumptions when they see Wei WuXian having lunch with Lan WangJi and a toddler in Yiling. And sometimes assumptions don’t make an ass out of anyone, but save everyone.

NOTES: This is literally one of the funniest fucking things I have ever read. I am not even exaggerating. These two weirdos are over there being their adorable mpreg kink selves not knowing they are being watched by every great sect, their leaders, and the gods themselves in a live broadcast. This fic ft's Lan Qiren qi deviating in a corner, Lan Xichen and Jiang yanli planning a shotgun wedding, contracts flying across the room, lots of yelling, and Jin Guangshan having a VERY bad day. 100/10 recommend.

lan wangji and lan sizhui's relationship isn't discussed enough!

a-yuan was the reason lan wangji lived and i will stand by it as long as i have to.

i'm not talking about living in a physical sense. he would've done so being the light bearer he is, but the peerless hanguang-jun lost his light the second he knew wei wuxian breathed his last.

hanguang-jun was just that, a light bearer, not the source of it. he was the moon that depended on the sun to provide it to the people, but he already lost his sun.

he probably would've gotten sucked into the black hole that was left behind after his star died that he did not realize there was another sun right beside it until he heard the faint cries of a child.

a-yuan. (he was the sun that the last of qishan wen couldn't even hope to be.)

it's the ways in which lan wangji and sizhui's interactions are so subtly domestic that melts my heart completely.

the relationship they share that of a guardian-ward, of a father-son.

the way sizhui (along with jingyi and a few other lan juniors) scream 'hanguang-jun!' and are able to smile while being held hostage really says a lot about both the trust they have in him and how safe they feel around him.

sizhui saying that feels as if he has nothing to fear or worry about, so long as lan wangji or wei wuxian were around. the bone deep trust that he has that he will be safe if he's around either of them even if he was in the middle of a literal death trap had me pause for a few seconds to let myself bawl out.

it's in the way sizhui so willingly and so enthusiastically interacts with lan wangji while everyone around him (except a few of the lan juniors) are scared witless to even breathe the same air as him. even the lan juniors don't seem to have the ease that sizhui has. (okay, this may probably be me over reading into it, but i really did feel that way while reading.)

and, my favorite interaction, sizhui encountering that lan wangji buried a-yuan in a pile of rabbits will never ever make me stop smiling like an idiot.

they have one of the healthiest parent-child relationship i've seen and i so, so long for it.

it's as surprising as it is devastating how less they're talked about. a crime really.

One of my favourite things about mdzs is the fact that we have juniors. Idk but I just love when we have a relationship child/parent figure in books is making all the story so much emotional in a way that make my heart melt and hurt in the same time. And in mdzs we have a lot of them.

But what I like the most are the juniors that we have after Wei Wuxian is board back to life (I like the period when the main character are juniors to but the quartet hits diferent)

Like the angst and heart warming moment between the characters and juniors is almost to much. And I swear I don't cry to much at books or movie but Jin Ling and his uncles, your honor it me.

Though a thing that I feel about is not talk enough is the relationship between Lan Wangji and the juniors.

I know all we love Wei Wuxian with them or Wen Ning with them or Lan Xichen with them or Jiang Cheng with them been the somehow uncle to all because Wei Wuxian adopt them all and he will not let the bar low been a good uncle even though he refuse to admit that he forgive his brother ( you can not tell me that after some 10 or so years after the temple he doesn't try to catch back the fact that Lan Wangji hide that he have another nephew, Jiang Cheng have some spoiling to do )

But what not very much cover is Lan Wangji with the juniors other then Lan Sizhui or Lan Jingyi what is fells very rough because every junior knows Hanguang-jun not just the Lans and all look after him in night hunts or respect his commands even if they are from other sects even before Wei Wuxian is in the picture. And I'd you look closely somehow when the junios are not fighting they actually make a very good team and that makes me think that they fight enough times together to be good at that.

And here comes my theory what if in that 13 years where Wei Wuxian was dead Lan Wangji really stars adopting not just tone of bunny's but children's to. And Wei Wuxian explain that the juniors are spoiled and we know that Lan Wangji is not as severe as the other Lans pure example Lan Jingyi ( if that chid was actually disciplined like a Lan he will not be that an-Lan ) and there are the moments where if you go in the second episode of sez 1 from the doughua when Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng have that tense discussion where Wei Wuxian just fight Jin Ling, Lan Wangji don't talk to Jiang Cheng at all but at the final of discussion he warned Jin Ling personally about the hand and to take care ( and that shown that he cared and not because off Wei Wuxian they don't even know yet that Wei Wuxian is back and Jin Ling really looks like he listen and pay atention so this to where in night hunt without Jiang Cheng before enough for Jin Ling to actually listen to Lan Wangji, just go and watch the beginning of the episod ) and what I want to go with that is, what if Lan Wangji actually in this years start to pay much more attention to the juniors that just ar guardian but more as a adult figure to make them safe? What if he actually have moment when he take Jin Ling in his grup ( because both Sizhui and Jingyi are comfortable with him to not keep just appertains)? What if Lan Wangji really let them much more free outside of Cloud Recesses? And why we don't have more fics with the 13 years gap between Lan Wangji and the juniors. My heart need it.

The fanfic "The Flower of Li" is set in the universe of Mo Dao Zu Shi (MDZS) — a xianxia fantasy, which is a Chinese genre inspired by Taoism, Buddhism, martial arts, and traditional Chinese medicine.

Since the story takes place in ancient China, social norms were very different from today's. Back then, romantic relationships didn't put much emphasis on age, so the main character (who is around 17–18 years old) might have romantic interactions with older characters like Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng, as well as younger ones like Lan Sizhui, Lan Jingyi, etc.

Summary:

Wei Wuxian: "Yeah, sure. Like I'd ever marry another boy. No way you are telling the truth. Weak comeback. Really weak.”

Lan Jingyi, who had evidently had *enough*, simply narrowed his eyes and marched their whole group to the edge of the clearing where Jiang Cheng was still locked in a standoff with the older Lan disciple.

Once they had a good angle, he simply narrowed his eyes and pointed at the tall Lan.

This was the exact moment when he looked over at them, and Wei Ying swallowed.

“Oh. OH!”

After he was able to do more than gape again, (which took a not inconsiderable amount of time) he quickly bustled over, shot the tall handsome man who was evidently his husband a charming smile, and took Jiang Cheng's arms into his hands.

“If you would please excuse us for a moment, I need a word with my Shidi. Very urgently.”

Not much happened but I’m taking this as a “I will give you fluff both after and before things go to shit”

Jingyi being Jin Ling’s reluctant friend is honestly pretty hilarious and I can’t wait to see those two start to get close because I feel like that’ll be like “I hate this person with every fiber of my being but if you make him cry there will be nobody searching for your body and no body to find either.” Especially after they realize the type of environment he was in his entire life in comparison to their childhoods. They’re goofy and I love ‘em.

Wangxian being shameless is always amazing (love that it’s LWJ doing it too!) but Wwx missing his sword. Jesus, that made me sad. It’d be interesting to see how suibian communicates with Wwx because in canon we know that the swords have spirits but that’s never really expanded upon. Especially since suibian sealed itself. It’d be nice to see them communicating with their weapons (also imagine suibian mother henning Wwx? Or even Wwx thinking of suibian as a sibling/parental figure? The angst for that would be great especially combined with the scene of Wwx giving away his golden core. Both of them would know Wwx would never be able to properly use suibian again and wow that would hurt. Also I’d imagine since Jiang cheng can also use suibian, suibian does care for him much like Wwx but also it’d be funny if it didn’t particularly like him. Like, the entire time Jiang cheng uses suibian it is fluently cursing at him.)

Jingyi picking up on LWJ pining/flirting is very funny but probably not as funny as it will be when sizhui realizes that A) they’ve both been pining for each other for almost two decades B) 100% they are not in a relationship even if they’re totally shameless with each other and C) they both SOMEHOW have NO IDEA that the other likes them back. The facepalm when that realization sinks in will be funny :3

Now, I don't know what you meeeaaaan, there is barely any angst in my fic whatsoever and there will never be anymore angst-...*checks timeline doc*....for nowwww....In all seriousness though, I can't actually remember/decide if there will be any angst next chapter, but oh boy if there was wouldn't that be silly. Wouldn't that be sooo goofy? Guess we'll never ever ever EVER know. I was feeling soft and silly, and this was more of a filler chapter, so I was like, "fluff be upon ye" I guess.

Jingyi and Jin Ling are going to have a very interesting friendship - Jin Ling's been raised differently because Wei Wuxian has kind of been a part of his childhood, so I wonder if that will affect how he builds/views relationships with other people - what do you MEAN I can't foreshadow in my post, who said that?! Anyway, I can't wait to think about it from Lan Sizhui's perspective; dude feels bad for Jin Ling because it is OBVIOUS that this poor guy does not know how to talk to people and if he is befriending what everyone labels as a dangerous criminal, then he is in severe need of friendship. Then there's Jingyi in the background, barking like a chihuahua every time Jin Ling does something that the Lan doesn't like until they devolve into fighting.

Ever since I learned about sword spirits, I've always wondered how Suibian would interact with Wei Wuxian and how they work together. I read one too many SVSSS fics where sword spirits hold a big value in them and it was all downhill from there. Think about it - Wei Wuxian had a lot of people who knew him in Lotus Pier, but he was never truly vulnerable with anyone (except maybe Jiang Yanli, but even then, it wasn't much) because he didn't want to sound ungrateful. So, imagine a Wei Wuxian who found solace in ranting to Suibian. Now imagine a Suibian listening and soothing in their own way. You see my vision, right? Imagine losing that when he needed it the most, during the Burial Mounds. Imagine finally being able to get it back after years of unforgettable trauma and torture, when he desperately needs someone he can rely on without second guessing everything to do with human duality. That doesn't exist with a sword spirit - Suibian just cares.

8 - What is your favorite line/section from [insert fic]?

Hah! 99% of it. It was a VERY VERY SELF-INDULGENT FIC. But here’s a sequence I really did love writing and still find fun:

“The sword was not responsive when it was first brought here,” Lan Qiren said thoughtfully, stroking his beard with his unbandaged hand. “I touched the hilt without a reaction. It was not until Jiang-zongzhu did so as well, that it moved under its own power—to the effect that you can clearly see.” He gestured to Jiang Cheng with the injured hand. “And only after it became active did the hilt assume its burning properties.”

Jiang Cheng saw Wei Wuxian do a double-take at Lan Qiren’s hand, and do the mental arithmetic. He glanced at Jiang Cheng’s own bandaged hand and said, “It burned you too, Jiang Cheng?”

Jiang Cheng did not like this line of questioning at all, and did not answer, lips pressed together tightly.

“Well—no,” one of the Lan disciples propping him up put in, unexpectedly. “Everything was very chaotic after Lan-laoshi burned his hand so badly on the hilt and Shan-gongzi severed his fingers on the blade, but I did happen to see that Jiang-zongzhu tried to pull it out himself. It didn’t budge, but the hilt itself didn’t hurt his hand—only the razor sharpness of the blade, when he tried again to pull it out that way.”

“And no one has tested the hilt a second time?”

“It’s cursed, Wei Wuxian,” Lan Qiren said with some exasperation. “We have not been successful in freeing Jiang-zongzhu, but we were neither idle, before your arrival!”

Jin Ling surprised everyone in the room, when he suddenly darted forth and tried to seize the sword—with his left hand at least, the little idiot—but even as Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian utterly nearly identical startled admonitions—“A-Ling, don’t!” “Jin Ling, no!”—he pulled it back at the last second, with a wince.

Jiang Cheng breathed a tiny gasp of relief, to see that his hand was uninjured, and Jin Ling said, almost abashedly, “I—I could feel the curse coming off of it, like heat, just before I touched it.”

“So,” Wei Wuxian said, striding across the room to grab Jin Ling by the shoulder and give him a little shake and a frown, which Jiang Cheng couldn’t fault, as he’d have liked to do the same. “So, the hilt is still untouchable—except by Jiang Cheng? Why would that be?”

“Because—because the sword is primed to his—uh, to a certain specific spiritual energy?” Lan Sizhui piped up. “It…wanted to be held by a person with that energy?”

“Doesn’t that mean that Wei-qianbei ought to be able to try to pull it out without injury?” Lan Jingyi said. “Since it’s his energy from his core in the first place.”

“Don’t be an idiot,” Jiang Cheng snapped, and wasn’t it just like Wei Wuxian to turn yet another life-threatening crisis into a exercise in lateral thinking. He took a brief moment to wonder if Lan Qiren had permitted Wei Wuxian to teach any classes since he’d taken up residence in the Cloud Recesses. Damn shame if he hadn’t. He’d been most adept instructor of baby disciples Lotus Pier had seen in their generation—before the days of fuck-off drunken dissolution after the war, that was—and to hear some of the older disciples tell, his father’s generation as well.

“We won’t know until we try, will we?” Wei Wuxian announced cheerfully, and reached for the sword.

It’s got action, jokes, character and relationship observations, even a sort of a punchline…this was good work, me!

10 - Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?

Hmm. This might be a little odd to say because it’s not exactly a burning passion or my favorite ship by a longshot—in fact, I am largely ambivalent shading towards “no” most of the time—but I do have a couple of ChengNing angles/ideas I find very juicy and might want to tackle someday? It’s just that the thing is, to me, the appeal lies in it being something mutually unhealthy/dysfunctional and like…staying that way. If it’s not super fucked up, I don’t really find ChengNing compelling, or for that matter, convincing. (I would like to stress that this is a me thing! No shade on the ship or the good crew who sail it!)

28 - What's the angstiest idea you've ever come up with?

OOOH. I know this one! Bar none, it was an absolute trainwreck of a Batman AU I dreamed up with @bowditch where in his Pit Rage Lost Days arc, Jason went through with his “murder Batman” plan, then had buyer’s remorse, and dragged off his blown-up corpse and dumped HIM into the Lazarus Pit. Bruce subsequently went on his own Pit-induced murder spree (Bowditch pitched that he’d target anyone who’d caused harm to one of his adoptive kids/wards/sidekicks, which in many cases included their bio parents). Then, when the pit madness wore off, Bruce and Jason both felt so terrible about all this shit that they fucked off into space for twenty years to become Space Monks, to atone. Back home, absolutely everything went to hell, with most of Batman’s former friends and allies either being driven out of Gotham or being corrupted by the system, and at some point, a Damian who was raised fully in the League and never met Dick Grayson, comes to Gotham to claim what he considers his rightful inheritance from his father, and is ruling the city with an iron fist. Bruce and Jason somehow get wind of this in their Space Monastery (probably Hal Jordan’s fault or something), and decide to come back home to try to fight for Gotham, reasoning that this was all their fault, which it was. Jason confronts Damian, but since he’s been a monk in space for twenty years, and not one of the ones that does martial arts, he is well out of condition and Damian kills him handily. This prompts an enraged and grieving (but sane!) Bruce, who just saw Jason die AGAIN, to kill Damian, and then stumble off in despair when he realized what he’d done, leaving the city without its dark overlord but also bereft of any protectors, and with a fresh new mound of corpses.

Obviously we never wrote it—just as well—but it was kind of fun to imagine a truly spectacular GrimDark Tragedy of fatal mistake after fatal mistake piled on the consequences of the previous fatal mistakes, and bowditch kept texting me pictures of herself lying prone on the floor to cope, while we were trying to top one another with horrible details.

I love the idea of LWJ being Yuri and hating Mingjue like "brother you were married for a year and you didn't tell us?" and trying to destroy their relationship (until he meets single dad WWX and his son A-Yuan)

Maybe A-Yuan is in the role of Betty and his rich dad is single dad WWX who is still a member of the Jiang Clan/Family.

I wonder who is the school teacher who is a fanboy of Mingjue

Or who is Nocturna who is totally in love with NMJ but lose everytime against LXC.

I guess Damien is Jin Ling and the "father" (uncle then) is JGY? But who is his big brother then....or here it's his other uncle Mo Xuanyu. And his "mum" is his aunt here, and she has lost her own son. 

I really LOVE the idea of NMJ being the spy. Because he's not the subtle one in canon. And LXC being the assassin when he's the kindest one in canon.

I never sketched out any background for the Spy X Family AU, but I headcanoned Lan Wangji as being a perfectly ordinary civilian, though still a somewhat overprotective younger brother. Lan Xichen doesn't tell Lan Wangji that he and Nie Mingjue have been married for a year; LWJ's concerns about the Nielan marriage have more to do with his fears that Lan Xichen (notoriously soft-hearted towards children) is allowing himself to be taken advantage of for Jingyi's sake.

Originally, Jin Ling was supposed to be Damian Desmond, but I ended up liking the idea of A-Yuan being Damian (with no older brothers involved; but this makes Wei Wuxian, secret peace activist, Donovan Desmond). Lan Wangji got embroiled in NMJ's mission through Lan Xichen, attended all of Jingyi's school events alongside Nielan, and wooed Nie Mingjue's target in five days flat before breaking into the Nielan household at 2 AM and informing Nie Mingjue that he could call off his spy operation.

If I had to give Jin Ling a role, I guess he'd be Becky. :P Nocturna/Nightfall doesn't really come into the story, though. And re: Lan Xichen being an assassin - since LXC is a doctor in most of my AUs, it occurred to me that murder would be very easy for him if he actually put his mind to it.

I think the description said that: Wei WuXian and Jiang YanLi decide to run away together with Jin Ling, and after 13 years since they left the cultivation world, Lan JingYi finds them by chance.

I can't remember if the tag(s) or description says A-Yuan is with them or if the Wen Remnants survived and ran with them. But I'm sure the action takes place after Jin ZiXuan dies and Wen Qing is probably dead and Wen QiongLin is captured and imprisoned by the Jin Sect (Not so sure about the last part with Wen Qing and Wen QiongLin).

I also think the Wei Ying | Wei WuXian/Lan Zhan | Lan WangJi tag was also at relationships (I think, not sure).

A) First: a modern fic where wei ying was dumbed by Jin zixun and was heartbroken. Lan zhan his best friend,who has a crush on him, consoled him and after that their relationship progressed. I think it was one or two chapters

B) Second: a modern fic in which wangxian are best friends but lan zhan tells wei ying one day that he is dating someone ( mo xuanyu) after that wei ying gets jealous and starts avoiding everyone. I only remember that's not a long story.

If he had then he'd still be in his human body instead of being trapped in a doll. Thankfully, Wei Wuxian made his curse work to where if they fall in love again wholeheartedly then Jin Ling will get his human form back.

I warn you, dear reader, that this post may be long and all over the place. It's coming straight from my mind (and may be refined onto the wishlist when I get around to it).

Okay, starting off with MDZS/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. Obviously I play Wei Wuxian(wwx) and Lan Jingyi, and so obviously I ship Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian and Jin Ling/Lan Jingyi. BUT!!! I also ship other characters, such as Wen Ning with WWX or Lan Sizhui with Lan Jingyi (which I guess would go on the "taboo" blog since the novels describe them as both having the headbands with clouds meaning they have blood relations to the Lan sect?) Anyways- I think I'd like to explore Wwx's relationships, with Lan Wangji and others.

Also thinking of Overwatch a lot so some ships and stuff I'd like to do in that fandom would be Moira/Mercy, especially one where Mercy finds out that Moira's become mostly numb to the constant pain her self-experimentation caused. Any Venture ship would be fun! They're a fun muse and I love a lot of their ships ngl, so literally anything with them. Ashe/Venture, Ashe/ Cassidy, Ashe/Illari would be some fun ships I'd like to do for Ashe, too. Hanzo/Cassidy will always be top-tier content tbh, especially Hanzo letting down his walls for Cass or Cass telling him about the Blackwatch days with Genji.

I'd like to experiment with my Fierce Deity some more as well- currently tossing him romantically at @desertforged and semi-romantically at @tenebriism 's Dark Link (both are very fun because Ta'ariq has this tall mysterious man that the rabbits like who looks like the Hero, and Dark has just- this giant wet cat of a man would would kill everyone if Dark got hurt-), but I'd like to have him interact with a Hylia, SS!Zelda, or any Zelda really, because he dated/had very strong feelings for Hylia. I'd also like to further show that he's actually a very gentle giant and fatherly figure, though-

rewatching cql and with the novels fresh in my mind, it’s time for me to continue posting about my cql is good actually agenda

i’ve commented before about how much i like how they’ve really fleshed out the characters’ relationships more on a different post, and i want to start on that

specifically i’m thinking of the scene between wei wuxian and lan wangji in the past, at cloud recesses, when wei wuxian gets lan wangji drunk. when they’re sitting next to each other and lan wangji comments he didn’t have a mom

what i like about this moment between them is the fact that wei wuxian, at first, makes a joke. but seeing lan wangji’s reaction to it, he softens his approach, and instead talks about what very little he remembers of his parents

specifically, a memory that we get in the novels, but importantly, one that wei wuxian doesn’t reveal to lan wangji.

and i really like that the writers decided to allow wei wuxian to open up to lan wangji and try to relate to him in that way. it really softens wei wuxian’s character and starts building his relationship with lan wangji early. and for it be about something that pains them both to their cores for different reasons. it’s just *chef’s kiss*

edit: would also just like to give a quick shoutout to the writers for letting jin ling have friends in lan jingyi, lan sizhui, and ouyang zizhen. like yes, the juniors are still often found together in the novels, but it feels more like circumstance and not because they’re friends who enjoy each other’s company. in the show, it really does seem like jin ling actually has some friendly connection to the other three. and i really like that!!

he can still be a maladjusted, spoiled brat, who’s never dealt with the grief over becoming an orphan at like 1 month old, and have a few friends. the writers were so based for that
