One of the best things that MDZS did for me is that it reaffirmed my faith that the best relationships are founded on having a similar moral code. I feel too many stories have romanticised the hero-villain dynamic or the messy chemistry of morally grey characters falling in love with each other.

Lots of people point out that moment where WWX claimed to be A-Yuan’s mother as a ‘Lan Wanji jealousy moment’ but I don’t see it like that. I think the joke smacked Lan Wanji upside the head with the image of a pregnant WWX and the man needed several seconds to reign himself in before he did something drastic.
