questioning hc-did culture is going, "no, i can't possibly be a survivor. sure, the few / really bad / memories i can remember all fit the bill. sure, there's far too many to claim that it's nothing. but maybe i'm making it up. after all, it's not like we can recall any / external / programming being triggered. yeah, okay, there's internal stuff, but--"
tldr: trying to use any excuse to say we made it up, we're fake, etc.

Being a system is not letting a new religious trauma holder name himself Jesus , because it would offend the still Christian alters. Except he said that was the point....

Shout out to the other chronically mentally ill systems who’s disorders and traumas have severely impacted your quality of life and functioning
shout out to polyfragmented or complex and highly complex did systems
shout out to the systems who are RAMCOA survivors, childhood sexual abuse survivors, or childhood torture survivors
shout out to systems diagnosed with other comorbid mental disorders
shout out specifically to systems with BPD🫂
shout out to systems who have lost relationships with people because of your mental health
shout out to the systems struggling with substance abuse issues or addiction
shout out to the systems who’ve been in and out of mental hospitals
shout out to fellow black systems and other poc systems with many intersecting marginalized identities
shout out to systems who can’t attend in real life school or are graduating late due to their mental health
shout out to the systems who can’t get a job or a drivers license
shout out to the systems who lost their childhood and teenage years due to constant mental health struggles
shout out to systems who have to take multiple medications for their disorders
shout out to the lonely systems who can hardly ever leave their homes and build friendships
shout out to the systems that struggle with the scars their sh addictions leave
shout out to systems who can’t take care of themselves without needing support
try to keep in mind that you are not the average persons, so we shouldn’t expect ourselves to be able to function just like the average person would. know you are all loved and are trying your best to navigate a society that wasn’t designed with poc and disabled or neurodivergent people in mind. i wish you systems the bestest recovery possible and i’m sending much love and support.

Just a reminder that alters that genuinely just want to hurt everyone are real and valid.
Not every persecutor/aggressive alter are “misguided”, some genuinely know what they are doing and want whats worst for the system, and while its not okay, its valid. Its okay to have alters like that, it does not make you any less of a valid system.

kabru's relationship with his eyes makes for suuuuuch a fantastic trans allegory (an aspect of your body alienating you from your community, being compelled to understand the perspective of someone who also has a complicated relationship with their body in the hopes that you'll better understand your own, people straight up misunderstanding biology) it makes me kind of insane because now I feel like I can't dig into any complicated feelings he might have about his body in relation to his gender without feeling like im just ... double dipping?? like fifjpejgh ryoko kui straight up already told that story in a way that exquisitely fucks??

hey guys am i allowed to say on main that i dont like metadad . am i gonna get beaten up for saying this.
guys i think we all took the term found family too literally and now everythings flattened into a boring nuclear family. guys can we stop. hello . is anybody there
#text#it was kinda charming at first but it feels like everytime i try to look at the mk tag its always the same shit . guys. guys.#we can do so much more w/ their dynamics than just dad and son ugh its so . ughhh.#every since i realized i was like . really really aroace. ive started to grow a bit of a distaste for shipping culture#this is relavant i swear. iwanna talk about metadede#like ok in fandoms right. theres often#the enforcement of specific roles onto characters for a simplified understanding of them for memes and drawing ideas#we want gay rep but we dont quite have it canonically so we make our queer headcanons seem more legit#by giving a char a same sex partner. ok easy we did it. gay people are real now#and we get awesome art and its wonderful bc people are wonderful#but its like . the relationships themselves feel flat a lot of the times.#metadede never seems to be about dedede. its about mk having a boyfriend. bc we need him to date someone.#and im not like . mad at anyone about this. i participated in it back in the day. but like.#ok so. gay hcs are the most popular in most fandom things bc its easy; hot; and sweet#but things like aro or ace hcs? its just. they. how can you depict that in a single framed drawing of a char?so theres none at all.#its not even that i actively hc chars aroace its jsut this is my world view; how i default to reading chars#maybe this rant in the tags is unrelated after all.#but idk. ive got lots of thoughts about things.#anyways as ceo of meta knigth im right about everything#i can talk more about metadad stuff specifically if people want

i know chase obviously wins the religious trauma competition but can we please talk about how foreman was not only raised by a deeply religious father, but was most likely raised BAPTIST. no wonder he’s so repressed. the baptist experience is like. you’re in church every sunday listening to a man scream about how love is something that should hurt. you believe in a good, loving god - but to believe, you have to accept that true love is painful. that to be a good person, you must suffer. to love is to endure it, to work mercilessly. you’re not worthy of the love of The Almighty, and you never will be, and that sense of unworthiness is fundamental to having faith. when you sin, you don’t just hurt Him, you hurt everyone around you. you make the world worse because you have dared commit the sin of existence — to be human is to be sinful. to be loved is to feel unworthy and pathetic and hopeless. like YEAH no wonder foreman self isolates and is emotionally closed off. he was taught from BIRTH that he is fundamentally unworthy of love, and that in accepting love, he is also accepting that he truly is worthless.

questioning HC-DID culture is asking "am I stretching the definition of programming to fit my trauma, or am I just looking for excuses to say I haven't been programmed?"

Programmed polyfrag/HC-DID culture is feeling the most genuinely intense rage when somebody says “religions are just big cults”.

Drawing baby Bokushi in cute clothes because I can (part 8)
[Art related to my fic, Accidental Siblings.]
It's been a seriously hot minute since I've done anything for this series, but I'm back and you guys are in for a treat! I was looking at cat-themed clothes on the internet and really wanted to see baby Boku dressed in cat-themed clothes, so I screenshotted five of my favorite outfits and went to work.
Ever since I stopped using flat colors, my art has really come alive. Looking at my first-ever baby Boku OOTD art, there's so much improvement, which means I've come very far on my art journey in a short amount of time. I feel like I'm still solidifying my art style, though, so I expect it to change every so often. However, I think I'll keep my current one for a little while. Anyway, enjoy!

If anyone wants to request an outfit for me to draw baby Bokushi in, feel free to send it to me in any way you wish, whether that be through a reblog, an ask, or a DM. (❁´◡`❁)

cw cultural appropriation? descriptions of trauma (including CSEM, stalking, psychosis/mental health)
Not sure if it counts for this blog but three of our main protectors are siblings all of which are a creature from local native mythos, we're bodily white (well, we're technically metis (mixed white+indigenous) but we're just at the cutoff so just white ig) and we always get flack when we talk about any of those alters' source.
the reason they all split was because of a traumatic event where our mother was psychotic and we went through "shared psychosis" (never diagnosed, but we were psychotic while she was, had similar delusions, etc) about the creature(s) stalking us and our mother, about one posessing us (which was very likely just one of our alter's attempting to talk to us, she attempted to tell our mother to take us somewhere safer and get help) and about basically being chased out of the area. The event was traumatic in many other ways (specifically our mother selling nudes of us (at the time 14) for gas money) and anyways it all culminated in them all three splitting.
the issue arises when we tell people their origin without any context, they say we're culturally appropriating, but none of the alters want to "change their source" specifically because the trauma endured litwrally made them trauma holders in a specific way that only makes sense to our brain if they stay the same. we try to use language that's respectful (hence us not naming the thing in question, and frequently just saying they're shapeshifters rather than the whole truth) and its so fucking annoying that its one of our top reasons for wishing we weren't a system
that sucks.. we are white ourself so we cant talk for POC people but i feel like.. we really need to remember alters cant control their source, and they cant control why they were made.

Superstitions/Customs in the desert:
There's a superstition in the desert that you can never have more than one clock at the same time in the desert. There are several clocks in the Diner, and they all have different times on them (it's not like anyone knows which one's right anyway)
On the longest night of the year, 'joys leave raven feathers (that magically appear near the mailbox) on doorsteps, as a small gesture of love for the lonely in the desert. Prayer beads are gifted to loved ones, to try and get through the night, and the desert is watched warily, through wide-eyes. Sleep doesn't seem to be an option.
Similarly, on the longest day of the year, the sands in the desert are streaked with vibrant colours and fruit, and whether it's 'joys who do it, or the Witch, no one knows. It's a huge day for celebration, and most Zonerunners let go of grudges and fighting for a day. Sometimes it even rains.
Giving someone a dyed lace signifies romantic attraction, and love, while tying a black or white laces around someone's possession or door frame signifies an omen of death or revenge. You should hit the red lines if you get an uncoloured piece of lace. If a 'joy receives a colourful piece of lace, though, they'll signify their feelings by wearing the piece of last around their thigh or their bicep. Often, these laces are woven into commitment bands several years later.
Love for a crew or family is signified through many things, though a popular custom includes giving family a piece of china, creating bracelets out of soda tabs, or even giving a piece of fabric to a loved one- different colours and designs signify different things (e.g. yellow or green or red soda tabs/fabrics signify blood-relations, while purple flowers signify friendships. The Four all have bracelets made from little purple flowers that were forged from different soda tabs, and Poison and Kobra each have a piece of fabric from each other in yellow, Poison's got theirs wrapped around their calf, Kobra wears his as a bandana).
Like during the Dust Bowl in the 1930s, some 'joys will cut open the stomachs of dead snakes and hang them by their necks, during droughts or bad weather.
Photographs are a shockingly valuable thing to have, if they're from before the Bombs. Several photographs are stung out and hung up around homes and baby-cribs as a way of protection, like all the ghosts of the people smiling in the photos will project the place from harm. It's a way of honouring the dead, keeping a photograph and trying not to let the sun ruin it, through any means necessary. The Witch receives many of these photos, and similarly, they are handed down to younger crewmates (The Girl got a lot of these photographs). Photographs are also a way of escapism, and 'joys will pretend that things aren't so bad, pretend that they know and love these strangers to ignore the outside world for a while.
It is customary to get a tattoo or something permanent for crewmates after a couple of years. Often, 'joys get their crewmates' symbols, or small messages scrawled out (messily, mostly) on their skin. Often, crewmates design the tattoos themselves. As well as that, if a crewmate dies, it's possible that the tattoo will fade, or turn a different colour, as a message from the Witch. Separating completely from a crew means the ink will fade, and the tattoo will scar, though many people still have ex-crewmates' tattoos - a signal that a 'joy has not moved on.
