i just watched cry of the wild in my honors english i class a few hrs ago. i've gotta be honest.... it was pretty bad for the most part.

for one, i wasn't even planning on watching this movie today. i just decided to come to be nice. at first i thought i was gonna love this film... but sadly i did not.

two, brian acts very, very dumb for most of the movie. he almost gets himself killed by a bear, he eats berries that he doesn't even know are poisonous or not, he calls a literal caterpillar "sushi", doesn't even know what the fuck a raccoon is, etc.

book brian was much smarter than this so-called "brian". hell, even in the beginning of the book he was much smarter and resourceful. therefore, i think cry of the wild sucks.

oh well. at least brian gets smarter near the end of the movie. sadly, i still don't like him so far.

SO i just got finished watching AVA in its entirety. general consensus is "holy shit, what am i about to get into". but either way, during the entire thing, i had a "Live Feed" document going, where I wrote down anything that came to my mind about each individual video.

Aborted by inducing her own miscarriage around three months after the crash. She never intended on having the baby, and even though she held a grudge against the fetus, she wasn’t about to bring a child into the situation on the ship, where it would most certainly suffer and probably die anyway without proper resources.

In similar vein, she never wanted children.

Blockaded her bedroom door with pretty much every piece of movable furniture after It Happened, and she curses herself for not doing that beforehand.

Refused to shower for a good two weeks after It Happened because she didn’t want to see her own body. (And maybe if she’s so disgusting, he won’t touch her again)

She was a bit wary when she first heard that she would be the only woman on the ship, but she rationalized that surely nothing would happen.

For that, she hates herself for being so naive. And she wonders if it’s her fault for letting her guard down.

After the assault, she cried for her mother. Her mom was the only thing she wanted in that moment (because somehow, wanting and getting her skin back seemed less probable than her mother showing up in the ship)

this is the sort of project that I end up procrastinating for a good time and has to Lock-In once the deadline starts to aproach but thanks goodness I was able to finish this in time.

the idea never really went beyond a weird collage. Nothing really connected, a certain chaos to it. It wasn't really cohesive, but I think it still works. And I like the way things were organized (at least, organized in the best way for a project like this).

you could argue that the chaos in this drawing is a good representation of the nature of SOTM and its updates.

Riley is the only part of the drawing done traditionally. Not really confident that I could execute the idea exactly well in digital. It still works well. And doesn't look too out of place with the rest,at least for me.

I'll want to post the background stuff separately and without the filters/lights. So people can see it better and so that the details I added to them don't go to waste. (This goes for Ink Demon and especially Dumdy).

today was… weird. I feel weird, ngl. But despits what my head says, I'm glad I did this drawing. I'm glad I finished it and posted it. And I hope you like it too.

I normally go on Tiktok to see cool edits or helluva boss but I came across a post victimizing Stella and normalizing Stella's constant abusive behavior.

While I normally respect many opinions people have on characters, the show, and ships even ones I don't agree with this is one I can't.

I refuse to get behind someone who is vindicating domestic abuse.

They were saying "she was also a teenager" and was "forced to have a kid" Yes, true, she was a teenager like Stolas and had to have a kid, he was told clear as day he was "destined to sire a precautionary addition to the Goetia family"

Yet, it still doesn't provide her the right to abuse and torment Stolas and as seen in earlier episodes, throw things at her husband even if he did sleep with an imp and he did make a "mistake" but it still doesn't warrant for her to assault Stolas, not to mention she literally tried to kill him by hiring an assassin (Striker). Twice.

I know Stolas isn't innocent, far from it but from what we've seen but not once has he laid a hand on Stella in an act of violence out of pure villainous intentions like Stella had.

Stella also said in "THE CIRCUS", "I like tormenting you." While they argue and Stella brings up wanting him to remember the affair, Stolas says "I would feel bad if I hurt you but we both know I didn't do that," Stella isn't upset that he had an affair, she's more concerned about her image than anything in my eyes.

"The only reason I have inured your constant insults and cruelty was for that girl to have a normal life."

We can see her rasing a hand to hit Stolas and we can infer its probably not the first time shes done it or tried too.

I understand Stella hasn't had it great never being able to have the chance to find love on her own and being shoved into a marriage but people forget, so was Stolas.

The circumstances for her were shit, I know, but I refuse to let people just justify domestic abuse. Abuse is still abuse. Stolas was also in that boat she was, being thrown into a forced marriage, his life laid out for him, He even said he "tried to make it comfortable for us, but it was never enough."

Stolas tried, very hard to have some sort of a normal life, especially for his daughter and a woman who he had, let's not forget with a woman he reciprocated now a physical attraction for.

The show wouldn't be interesting without proper villains, because who wants a villain with no backstory, nothing for us to get attached to or dislike? and that's fine to like a villain character, I have quite a few villain characters I like.

But these characters are meant to have flaws and be sinister, It's what makes villains... well, villains but to show a just cause for years of domestic abuse and then villainising Stolas and portraying him as some kind of horrible monster, the victim of the abuse is where I draw the line.

I may sound rude to Stella lovers but it's not Stella's character I'm hating on, it's the fact people want to defend and justify domestic abuse or any kind of abuse for that matter. No matter how hard people try to, Stella has no excuses for her actions and I refuse to believe she does.

Opinion on Snowkit's death (Possible TW? I'm not fully sure)

This is probably my most controversial Warriors opinion. But I feel I wanna share it since it just came to mind.

Snowkit dying to the hawk because he was deaf wasn't in itself ableist. The ableism (at least how I saw it) was that Thunderclan did not bother to learn from this and make accommodations and improved policies for the likelihood that another kit in their ranks would be born with a disability or gain one in the future.

Instead, cats like Cinderpelt, Jayfeather, and Briarlight were just sent off to the medicine den. I'm not including cats like Brightheart, who did succeed in spite of now being partially blind, and Longtail who willingly retired (at least if I remember the books correctly).

The fact that Thunderclan decided they were not at fault because Snowkit was deaf speaks volumes about the flaws in clan culture, and the need for reform beyond the Warrior Code that must be acknowledged.

"He was deaf; it was bound to happen anyway." It wouldn't have happened if someone, whether his mother or another Warrior, had supervised him to notice when the hawk was coming and get him to safety.

Hell, Speckletail initially hesitated to let Cinderpelt test her son, likely due to fear and shame that Snowkit would be shunned FOR his deafness.

If I were in the leadership position, I would've taken this as a sign that kits with disabilities like Snowkit's will likely need more supervision until they are old enough (likely apprentice-aged) to get assistance in becoming self-sufficient members of the clan. I'd ask the elders what I could do to better accommodate them and their disabilities.

This should've been a wake-up call to Thunderclan that something had to change so as not to let such a preventable tragedy happen again. But they didn't. And it's frustrating, especially when you think about the possibility of other clans like Windclan possibly already having these accommodations (like for Deadfoot, who had a twisted front paw). Some cats have to go outside their clans to find people who would teach them how to live with their disabilities (looking at Crookedstar who needed help from loners to learn how to eat and hunt with his broken jaw).

It says in your little thing that your Mormon, are you still Mormon cuz respectfully I've heard a lot of shit about Mormons and how they are very transphobic and homophobic! So not trying to be rude just genuinely wondering if I read that wrong or something.

Hey! Yeah, I am a mormon, but I love all my queer siblings, including/especially my trans people. But it's a complicated religion and I have a complicated relationship with it, so I understand the confusion.

The short answer is that I was raised mormon, continue to find a lot of comfort and truth in SOME of their teachings, and I am perpetually very pissed with a lot of their other teachings, cuz yeah, a lot of them are Not Good. So I'm mormon and mad about it. It's kind of like. . .imagine if you were raised Catholic and only really have good memories of your Catholic community and find a lot of comfort in teachings about God's love, but you absolutely despise the administration of the Catholic church and like, everything they say about queer people. It's like that.

The long answer is this:

A) The mormons get a bad rap on the internet for stuff that isn't actually true. If you ever have a specific question, I am happy to answer to the best of my abilities.

B) Having said that, a lot of the teachings of the mormon church regarding queer people are really really bad and I do not support or encourage this even slightly. I myself am queer, and I have to put up with hearing all kinds of queerphobic shit from the church all the time. And I hate it and I speak against it whenever it is safe for me to do so. It just. All of it goes soooo against the other teachings of the church. I am not the only queer member. There is an entire community of us on tumblr over here. We all work and suffer through it together.

C) I still believe in the stuff that's at the fundamentals of the gospel though. Namely, God exists and he loves all of us unconditionally. He sent us to Earth so that we could learn and grow and become happier through our experiences here. Free agency/the ability to make independent choices is very VERY important to him. He sent Jesus Christ to suffer for our sins so that when we do fuck it up, we don't have to live with that guilt forever. Jesus also suffered for our pain and sorrow so that we didn't have to and can bring us healing. We're supposed to love our neighbors with our whole hearts.

I also believe that Joseph Smith did translate the Book of Mormon, although he was still a human being who made mistakes and I don't believe in a LOT of the stuff he said and did. I doubt you've read the Book of Mormon, but it's really just The Bible Extended Edition. There's a reason it's full name is The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It covers what the hell was going on in the Americas during the biblical times.

I also believe that God has chosen prophets for our modern day to continue giving us revelation. I also believe those prophets are mostly crusty old men with outdated personal opinions that they mistake for revelation, that they fuck it up a lot, and I wish a lot of them would hurry up and die so I no longer have to listen to their bullshit.

D) Religion and faith are personal. I'm not here to convert anyone, especially other queer people. I continue practicing my religion because I have had literal years and some really amazing people to help me sort out what is good and bad and to figure out what parts of it are best for me as a person. I understand that what's best for some people is literally none of it, and I also understand that while some people could benefit from just doing what I do, that the way the church treats queer people (and also women sometimes) does more harm than the good parts help. So while I talk about my religion sometimes, it's always more about my personal relationship with it and never to try to convert people. I fully support ex-mormons who left the church, because sometimes the environment can be truly toxic and the religious trauma they have experienced is real.

E) The culture of the church and the actual doctrinal teachings of the church are two very different things. Utah mormon culture is also different than regular mormon culture. All of these things have good aspects to them, but church culture and Utah mormon culture also have a lot of really harmful things too, and these don't even have anything to do with the crusty old men being homophobic/transphobic. I am also mad about this, and I also complain about this fairly frequently.

I'm glad you asked because I understand that this stuff can be confusing. I think it's impossible to be any kind of religious queer person and not have a really complicated and deeply personal relationship with your religion.

In StarClan, you can use the names and appearance that you could have had, if you died young. It's very rare that you get permakits or permapprentices. I lifted from the COTC story about Smallstar and his siblings.

(Though, in BB those kits actually survive and it's MAPLESHADE’S kits who lead to the law on protecting children, Darkstar's Commandment, the Queen’s Rights. Smallstar is the leader of WindClan and xey're super chill. Xey own a lovely shawl.)

So Snowkit chooses to appear as Snowcarve, an Honor Title he would have earned for the creation of a full written Clan cat language, expanded from the simple glyphs. I'm not sure if he's a popular patron, but I do know that Bramble and Tawny invoke him sometimes.

Unfortunately though he's more invoked for general guidance by the two of them, not for possibilities like I think he'd like. He watches over them though, like a guardian angel. A lot of cats secretly have those.

I'm not sure who he follows around more often though. I think he LIKES following Tawny more because she's a better listener to his omens. But he feels like Bramble NEEDS him more, y'know?

Also notably, Snowcarve was technically their uncle, but the relationship is best described as "1st cousin." Rabnir in Clanmew, a familial role about somewhat distant but parallel growth, seen also with Brightpaw and Swiftpaw.

y’know. something that gets overlooked often is kate’s video, and the confirmed implications of it.

whether you believe nathan assaulted kate or not, this doesn’t take away from the fact she was canonically sa’d by multiple boys at the vortex club party. there are no names given, but we know this is undoubtedly true due to the video’s existence as well as everyone talking about the contents within said video. we also know that kate was visibly out of it in the video given max’s remarks when she finds it on victoria’s computer, and that passed out girls are a common sight at vortex club parties given the unresponsive student across hayden at the end-of-the-world bash :

regardless of where you stand on nathan’s involvement, it is undoubtedly obvious that kate is a victim of sexual assault. she was drugged and then mauled by a group of boys who could probably tell something was wrong, but just didn’t care enough to check. after all, as victoria puts it, people get wasted all the time … how are they supposed to protect or care for every which one of them? ( excuses! )

lis:1 in general has always handled sexual assault with nuance so rarely found in media. they do not make harsh lines in the sand about what ‘counts’ or not. they do not make a show of brutalizing the women on our screen via borderline fetish content like most do when discussing themes of rape. instead, there are undertones : max in lis:de, for example, treats the dark room like a sexual assault trauma specifically. she also goes through her own victim blaming by harping on how attractive she found jefferson, how much she wanted to marry him … this occurs in her nightmare as well, where max behaves as though she wanted what happened, what jefferson did to her, when we know she didn’t. obviously, max was not raped. she was not kissed or groped. but there is an underlying sexual gratification jefferson gets from framing her -- there are perverted comments whispered in her ear, she’s being posed with her purity being talked about, and she is being photographed in a vulnerable, helpless state. it just paints a picture. max comes out of it well aware that jefferson was into it, into seeing her that way, and he moved her while she was unconscious and took his sick photos and that’s enough for the trauma to settle in the sexual assault category. most people wouldn’t count it as that, but the game itself does. the dark room has always been a heavy handed look into young girls being abused and preyed on by older men. it is not shocking that it’s one big metaphor for sexual abuse as well, especially sexual abuse that is demeaned and invalidated by others, sexual abuse that isn’t believed. cue jefferson’s whole character. a man who is too perfect and beloved to suspect. a man who told kate to her face that she’s just seeking attention and likely enjoyed what happened to her. a man who got away with such remarks.

the newspapers go out of their way to claim there isn’t any evidence of sexual assault among the victims, and i believe that’s because they weren’t assaulted in the only way the public cares to look, which is penetrative sex. i could also see the article lying, as papers do, but i think it paints a more prominent picture of how weird people are about sexual assault victims and how downright demanding they are about what counts, what doesn’t, and what’s okay for victims to do or say about their own experiences. it is all rather disgusting, honestly! and i’ve always been enamored by the more complicated, unpopular takes lis:1 took with that plot. i feel like to harp on sexual trauma that genuinely isn’t confirmed and to then ignore the girls’ actual sexual assault ( jefferson, the vortex club ) does a rather huge disservice to the game’s more interesting themes. to put it plainly, it’s a major simplifying tale of the story.
