Technically, he believes rape exists in marriage. He just doesn't think rape should be a reason for the wife to ruin the marriage by getting criminal procedures involved.
(I explicitly say "the wife" and not "the victim" because he only ever talks about female victims of SA.)
What is the CDU's obsession with female voters and Habeck? First we get this...
Tumblr media
(Translation: Should it be that female voters help political marriage imposter Robert Habeck into office and with it push Germany over the edge, we have to unofficially think about the female right to vote. And officially think about offering anti-emotional democracy lessons.)
and now this....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Translation: Don't be fooled by the nice pictures, ladies and gentlemen. I'm especially speaking to the ladies and women here. The guy who sits in the kitchen in his undershirt may be sympathetic, but he knows nothing about economic policy)
Do they really think us females put a heart down on the ballot and vote for the hottest candidate without reading the political program?!
Maybe, Friedrich, it's because you worked together with the far-right political party, and believe rape doesn't exist in a marriage. That Habeck is hot is a bonus perk, not the reason, so many females are voting for him and not you.

The reason I was like “not to say decriminalize self harm” is bc it is already not criminal technically. Most psych wards are pretty similar to like danish prisons where you get a bare bones shared uncomfortable room and a shared bathroom. Visiting is every day for hours at some places and others not so much at all. Some places allow visitors to bring outside food most don’t. No one is allowed to have cell phones and the doors are all locked and guarded. Whereas American prisons are like way worse than that and include forced labor. But also some psych wards are similar to American prisons like the ones that are housed in the same facility as migrant detention centers. They don’t involve forced labor but they all absolutely do involve forced drugging and many involve forced testing almost all of which do for people who want treatment without insurance. So most psych wards are like nice prisons and then some psych wards are like bad prisons. That’s established.
Then you add to that the system of wellness checks and how all of that impacts people of color. For some people self harm is deadly if it leads to a wellness check that escalates all the time people die all the time during wellness checks it happens especially to autistic black people. So some people are killed others end up in jail and the best case scenario is you end up in a psych ward which is kind of like jail but not as bad. Unless you end up at the migrant detention facility adjacent state institutions which are as bad as bad jail. Do you seen how they’ve criminalized self harm?
And before you say “yeah well in jail you are with criminals who are violent and even sexually assault people” I know multiple multiple women who have been raped in psych institutions. The one I went to 2 years later had a case where a therapist raped 8 or 9 patients. And in the coed facilities yes men rape women and regularly and there is no legal recourse or even most times no way to get out of a locked unit with them. Or then it could be your therapist who controls whether or not you go home.
Do you see why I say decriminalize self harm?

Uhm, so the person I reblogged this from apparently went off at me completely at random and then conveniently blocked me, so I can't even defend myself lol Ironically I was saying the same thing: the haters hating on good omens fans could do something actually useful and donate to that fund, instead of attacking random good omens fans and calling it "activism". Anywho, since I can't reblog the reply with the link, I will take the chance to relink the fundraiser for anyone who wants to donate and for the haters, urging them do something *actually* useful for once.
Seeing people outside of the good omens fandom attacking random people in comment sections isn't something I'd expected to see after the horrendous allegations against NG came out.
But it's also something that I can't understand!
Whilst it's never okay to be sending hate over to people who simply still want to enjoy Neil's work (without supporting him financially or as a person), seeing an influx of people who are just.. doing it to say that they've done it..?
Surely if they REALLY cared for what they were fighting so desperately against they'd be out advocating for some sort of change? Donating? Volunteering? Campaigning? ANYTHING aside from sitting on tumblr all day hating on people because they believe they have some weird moral high ground by doing it!
Of course this isn't to say that what neil did isn't absolutely HORRIFYING! He genuinely is THE worst type of person and he deserves exactly what punishment is, hopefully, throwing itself in his direction. But attacking a fandom for trying to find comfort beyond that terrible man is WRONG.
You're allowed to feel sad, angry, disappointed, ect. In neil and in the fandoms that you love/loved ever so much. Nobody should be making you feel as if you don't care for the victims enough. The reality of it is that if you're no longer a neil supporter, YOU. ARE. BEING. SYMPATHETIC. TOWARDS. THE. VICTIMS.
The simple fact of it is that neil gaiman is an EVIL monster of a man, but his work and his characters have stuck with many many people, whether that be through tough times or through life itself. It's not something you can just let go of. You shouldn't feel pressured to just let go of it.
If it comes with time, that's perfectly okay. If it never goes away, I understand and that's also perfectly okay. Just be mindful, that's all. :)
In reality, you just have to find joy in whatever way it presents itself. Have sympathy for the victims, donate to charities, support in whichever way you can. But at the same time, don't deny yourself happiness.
Some people choose not to separate the art from the artist. Some do. Either way it's valid.
In conclusion, LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE
PS: I know this is a long post so I can't help but feel the overall aim could've been lost on some people. I DO NOT SUPPORT NEIL GAIMAN. But I also don't condone bullying towards people who are doing NOTHING wrong. I hope neil gets THE worst kind of punishment allowed within the modern legal system (although in this case I wouldn't object to some sort of medieval contraption to chop his dick off). I do NOT care about a show more than I do the victims and that man won't be getting another PENNY off of me.
TLDR; Neil gaiman is an awful man who deserves nothing but the absolute worst, however, people outside of the fandom bullying others for seeking joy in separating the art from the artist never has been, and never will be, okay. At the same time, enjoy what you want to enjoy whilst being considerate and respectful of all those harmed by gaiman.

The different and sometimes tiring types of reactions to the neil gaiman allegations
- ‘neil didn’t write good omens’ (he did and we simply have to learn to separate art from artist)
- ‘how dare you think about anything else but the victims’ (people can care about multiple things at once + these allegations have been known for months and months?? some of us have processed this)
- ‘how do david/michael/etc feel about this’ (it’s none of our business)
- ‘donate to victims of sa’ (sure if you can)
- ‘bdsm is fine WITH consent’ (it is)
- ‘everyone is innocent until proven guilty and i refuse to condemn him’ (go read the article / enjoy being blocked by me)
- ‘his writing was always Problematic’ (learn to separate art from real life victims of sexual abuse please)
- ‘his writing can still mean a lot to you without you being a bad person’ (yes. just try to avoid giving him money maybe)
- ‘it’s just terf propaganda’ (it really really isn’t. and fuck terfs)
- ‘reminder to prioritise your own mental health, step away from online spaces if you need to, and: you have no obligation to read the entire article if it’s too triggering’ (true. you’re still a good person i promise)

odysseus actually saying the word rape in the song freed me of all the discomfort hold them down made me feel
idk why but it's just so. sexual assault has always been something that should have clear boundaries - and instead, you see the people in power, people who should punish and uphold the law, shift around definitions and wordplay.
as if it isn't a disgusting violation of a person, of their life, of their trust.
metaphors are beautiful, they're my favourite figure of speech. but metaphors, skirting around the topic, when it comes to rape, is what, to me, truly makes that feeling of disgust and discomfort, and yes, even panic, rise.
because the truth is? i know there are people who can excuse and disregard "taking her love and more". not consider it rape. not consider it assault. there are, unfortunately, people who can disregard a metaphor this clear. justify it, even.
but most of those people can't justify the word rape.
I dont know if this makes sense. forgive me if it doesn't. but to me, the intense nausea that hold them down brought about was erased and hell, even comforted, by the rage and protectiveness and bluntness of that one line in odysseus.
jay did a fucking fantastic job.

Can we please talk about the Gisele Pelicot mass rape case more? This shit is so disturbing that I’m shocked at how deep men’s hatred run for women goes, even the ones they marry and commit to for life. A man willingly drugged his own wife, raped her multiple times, and then invited 50 men over to share in the act - from 2011 through 2020. How does that not make people incredibly angry. How does it shock no one else that misogyny could run this deep

I love the evolution of the seriousness of the suitors intent towards Penelope. Tw: SA
So in "Legendary" it begins with Telemachus saying the suitors are "they're trying to win the heart of my mom." This is framed as a naive boys version of the situation. He doesn't understand the severity situation regarding his mother. He knows the situation is bad but he doesn't recognise how bad it is.
But that instantly changes when the suitors first speak. Antinous makes a joke of it saying "Open her room and we can have fun with her." It's framed as more of a lewd joke with the intent of provoking Telemachus rather than a direct threat of rape.
Then we get to Hold them Down. The threat has turned from a disgusting joke to a real plan. The song does everything but say the word "Rape." It uses a strong innuendos to convey what it needs to.
It isn't until "Odysseus" that their plan is called out for what it is. The suitors wanted to rape her. End of story. And it's said with all the vitriol and hate it deserves and it's paid back tenfold by The King of Ithaca.

(⚠️Talk of SA/Abuse Victims/Anya Mouthwashing)
⚠️If you need any "credibility" i am also a victim of abuse.
My Thoughts on #GIRLBOSS Anya
TW: S/A , Abuse
Some people need to realize that not all victims of abuse are empowered #girlbosses and are in fact scared to face their abuser bc of power dynamics and such .
Sometimes people just arent able to stand up to them, and thats okay. Its easy for some to say "oh they should fight back" but its really not :( often times their abusers are people in power, or close to them that they wouldnt want to antagonize in fear of disappointing them or for them to do the worst.
Sometimes victims may not even realize they were being abused/manipulated, and sometimes they downplay their own suffering bc its easier than fighting back.
That isnt to say that "victims should just comply to their abuser", its definitely not, and if you are suffering from abuse please seek as mucb help as you can. Im referring to people who always assume that if victims just "tried hard enough" they could defeat their abuser.
This is why often times I feel a little off put by depictions of Anya being this girlboss character who couldve defeated Jimo Because it sorta downplays her fear of him. Yes, we wouldve loved to see her succeed and win, but she was honestly scared. She was doing her best to please him by cheering him on and folding in when he berates her.
Personally I also want her to take that gun/axe and hit him where it hurts, but as a victim of a similar (not SA) type of abuse where people who controlled/manipulated were far above me, I symphatize with her.
Her death and her folding up, her taking drastic and risky measures such as hiding the gun case when she told Jimo about her pregnancy. Her struggling to open up about it bc shes been dismissed already by Curly, who couldnt believe that someone hes close to would do such an act and is trying way too much to balance both sides.
This is all just my opinion. Theres really nothing wrong with making a victim stand up for themselves, in fact yes, it should be celebrated. But also dont dismiss when a victim doesnt do that due to fear/trauma.
TL;DR: sometimes victims can dismiss their own abuse for the sake of safety.
Pls keep in note that im speaking from complete experience and am no way a psych major or anything. This is just my voice and opinion and if you beg to differ, im open to discussion ^^ please be respectful!

playing as a tabris warden and especially playing as a fem tabris warden is just a constant over and over gut punch. you're getting married but then you, your cousin, and several other women from your alienage are kidnapped during your wedding by the arl's son. you slaughter your way out of it to save your cousin and the other women, but there isn't a victory in it— you know there will be retribution for killing a palace full of guards and several nobles even though you were defending yourself and your kin. you're forced to leave your home and join the grey wardens without being given even a single night to recover. you know there will be a purge. you don't know if you'll ever see your family again.
you're taken to ostagar where you are the only woman amongst the grey wardens, and not only that, you are the only elf among them. you remember nessa, the girl in your alienage who was afraid of leaving because she feared what the soldiers would do to her after going so long without seeing a woman. your status as an elf and a woman are constantly remarked upon. you have no choice but to stay. you are fed darkspawn blood by duncan; the blood kills one man while he slaughters the other in front of you. you are supposed to feel grateful to have survived this.
and even later when you seek help from the dalish, what do you learn from zathrian? the same injustices that were inflicted upon you have been repeated over and over for centuries. what do you learn when you seek help from the mages? templars lurk in every corner, always watching, driving mages to the same violence you yourself committed. what do you learn in orzammar? to be a castless woman is to be not considered a person, who's only worth is the children she can bear for the same nobles who keep the castless subjugated. to be chosen by a noble is supposed to be an honor. why does this feel familiar?
AND THEN. what do you learn from the deep roads? darkspawn in all of their corruption are no different; you learn of the broodmothers. it is the same everywhere, no matter where you look. nothing changes. even your other party members, leliana and zevran, have their own stories. and you don't have another choice but to keep pushing on.
