part of me understands tumblr's hestitancy to unpack their biases regarding animal agriculture. it is painful to realize how much suffering is all around. it is soul-crushing to have contributed to it. so many animals are getting harmed and killed every day. it's overwhelming, and it's natural to want to close your eyes to that. but you can change your behaviour! you can take direct action! you can stop feeling guilty! you can choose whether you want to continue to contribute or not! and trust me, it is so so liberating to do so

female cows are forcefully impregnated by humans. female cows are forced in place to not have an option to leave while a man is shoving semen inside of her. this is rape. this is rape.

on top of the RAPE, female cows then have their children forcefully taken away, and have their milk stolen from them to use them as machines as long as they produce. then they are raped again. the cycle continues until they die.

this is their entire life, from birth to death. as much as human women suffer we have to recognise our privilege- the fact we get another chance to live our own lives, to be more than just what happened to us. female cows do not get this privilege you don't even see as the bare minimum. wake the fuck up.

I will never get over people calling veganism performative. you mean the ethical belief that requires you to change your entire diet and consumption habits, from skincare to entertainment to the furniture you buy? the ethical belief that is fundamentally rooted in direct action to the best of every members ability? the one that literally includes a comprehensive boycott of large parts the most powerful industries in the world? that’s performative???

What veganism did for me was bring up all the issues I had with society in the first place.

Why ARE some still treated like less-than than others for being different? Why are we taught not to care? What if it was me in their place? Why should I be in the privileged position and not them? What makes humans so special?

Hmm, I wonder why there is no mainstream slavery in the modern world anymore, I wonder why women, children, and people of colour have rights. And not even just things that are political, I wonder why we don't see anything that we no longer use because the majority of people have stopped using it

And why is it going to happen? Could it be because there is demand? Could it be because the people are buying meat and milk and eggs and leather?

You bet your ass that if there was no demand for animal based products, the market would be flooded with vegan products. Because at the end of the day, the companies want your money, and they don't care if they're going to do it with or without animals involved.
