I adopted a vegetarian diet for a few years and I led me to ask myself many questions about eating animals. I figured out my personal gripe was resource waste, and industrial farming. Not the idea of eating animal per say. One time I was speaking with another vegetarian and she realized I disareed with her on the "meat is murder" thing, she was lost.

It also made me realize I didn't have any moral complaint about cannibalism as long as the flesh wasn't aquired violently (so I can't think of many situations where I would get to it appart from survival in frozen lands, but hey !)

Anyways, I had to resume eating meat because I coudn't digest a diet too rich in legume. Big humility lesson.

Quite a trip. Made me learn a lot about myself.

Also, people coudn't bring themselves to let me eat my meatless meals in peace without starting to question my choice and getting deffensive. Even when I told them they didn't have to do the same. Even when I made a point not to mention it. It just went on and on and on ... Now I think the arguing vegan trope is a bit of an exageration. It goes woth ways.

Try things and question your morals. It makes for interesting journeys, even if you might develop some wierd outlooks on life.

It's wild to me how many restaurants in 2025 just don't offer a single vegan option. And I don't mean "can find something to accommodate if asked", I mean I can't point to a single meal* on the menu that I can get.

Why don't you want my money, I don't even need anything fancy I just want the option!

anyone who calls all individual actions like thrifting, going vegan or using public transport bad or useless, and instead encourages people to just wait for some kind of big revolution to happen before even considering making any change in their own lives is not actually that interested in things getting better

Genuinely baffles me that tumblr claims to be so leftist but at the same time is SO anti vegan.

Every leftist space I've been at IRL has either offered only vegan food or at least one or more vegan options because

1) it's more inclusive - vegetarians and non-vegans can eat it, too (excluding allergies etc. of course)

2) it's cheaper

3) it's FAR more environmentally friendly

Like??? You people want freedom for all, but not animals? You people want to abolish prisons, but not (factory) farming? You people yell "my body my choice", but that doesn't extend to animals? You love cats and dogs and frogs and lizards, bur eat cows and pigs and chickens?

It's hypocritical and it doesn't make sense

I love when people from first world countries decide to share on tumblr for the bilionth time that they're using animals products since they're "sooo enviromentally friendly and use the WHOLE animal uwu"

Meanwhile, 80% of the deforested area of the amazon rainforest is used for cattle ranching. But sure, feel free to tell me how eco-friendly your leather is as the tanning poisons our rivers or how important meat is for european culture while latin america burns for your double cheeseburger.

Don't worry, I totally understand it's too much to ask for you to stop eating meat in the name of the planet, animals, and us third-worlders who will be affected the most by global warming.
