You’re My Daydream

Qian knew he should be behaving but why did he need to? It wasn’t like he was alone or with San Pang. His Xiao Yuan had come for him once the man had realized that he’d gone with San Pang and their new client for drinking. He hadn’t even needed to call because he knew Wei Zhiyuan would come for him. The younger man hadn’t even gotten the chance to remove his tie or vest. Yuan looked so good that Qian had been tempted to make out with him in the elevator. But he’d been nice then, following Yuan’s instruction to get into the car and put his seatbelt on.

“Ge, I’m driving.” Yuan warned in that authoritative tone that made Qian want to do the exact opposite. So he did by sliding his hand further up Yuan’s trouser covered thigh. Qian couldn’t help but smirk at hearing the sharp intake from his lover. A pleasing warmth settled in his chest that also felt like pride.

“So keep driving. We’re almost home anyways.” Qian sassed.

“Ge.”

“What?”

“Behave. We are almost home then you can do whatever you want.” Yuan responded with a tone more firm than before. He spared a look at Qian and to his frustration the older man was already looking at him with that heady gaze. Those dark eyes flicking down to his lips before dragging his tongue against his own soft lips had a switch flipping in Yuan.

Qian grinned as Yuan suddenly pulled over. He was about to teasingly chide his boyfriend when Yuan’s hand gripped his chin pulling him into a passionate kiss. Heaven’s above he loved kissing Yuan; the way Yuan knew just how to make everything else go away so that it was just them.

“Now,” Yuan nipped Qian’s bottom lip as he parted their kiss for much needed air, “will you-”

“No.” Qian cut him off, hand reaching out to take hold of that red tie around Yuan’s neck. It was so soft and the perfect tool to get Yuan’s lips back on his. The click of Yuan’s seatbelt was quickly followed by him being pressed back into his door while being kissed so deeply he knew the feeling would be burned into his brain. His hands making their way blissfully into Yuan’s soft black hair just as Yuan’s other hand moved to cup his throa….

“Wei Qian?” A voice that wasn’t Yuan’s interrupted his very lovely daydream about their car ride home from work the other night. Rude really. That’s when he realized he never took his gaze off of Yuan. Who was wearing the same red tie today but with his vest suit set. He couldn’t wait till later to peel it off him.

Yuan tilted his head and shifted his gaze to the laptop in front of Qian. Like usual Yuan was taking care of him by sending him a message that Tay had asked which summer special magical girl character that Qian liked.

“Tulip.” Qian answered, trying to keep the sigh from coming out. His gaze shifted back to a smiling Yuan and he decided he didn’t have to wait to get home. In fact it was the perfect time to let his hard working staff take a good long lunch.

Send everyone a message to take a long lunch and you can take me to the Goldfinch. He sent Yuan and the level of smugness he felt when Yuan’s ears started to flush pink.

Ge. Yuan mouthed before catching himself. His heart beating fast he tried to will the rest of his body to not show how surprised and thrilled he was to have Qian send that message.

Yuan did as instructed, earning himself some rather cheerful responses. He also took it upon himself to set up the reservation at the Goldfinch. The last time they’d enjoyed every second of their stay. His memories of that visit flashing through his mind’s eye. He was careful not to meet Qian’s gaze throughout the rest of the meeting. What he didn’t need to do was ruin their good fortune by dragging Qian away to lunch early.

“Oh good! So we are in agreement she is the first to come out and a new one each week.” Tay beamed, a wonderful designer brought on from Yuan’s team.

“Good, we can meet again at the same time next week about the next design.” Qian stated before closing his laptop, “great job everyone.” He toothily grinned at Yuan before heading to his office to drop off his laptop.

There’s a tiny moment right before Tommy kisses Buck when you can see him glance to the side, and it just hit me that he’s weighing the signs in his head, trying to decide whether what he’s picking up on is really what Buck wants – unconsciously. It’s a fraction of a second, but the mere fact that he arrives to the conclusion that yes, Evan Buckley wants to be kissed, and yes by a man, yes by him, is enough to make me cry.

I geniunely cannot stand when allistics try to say Resident Alien is actually making fun of autistic people because they believe Harry is too childish now because I JUST-

In the beginning, Harry tried SO MUCH HARDER to fit in with the humans around him. He mimicked their speech patterns, consistently observed them, emersed himself in their activities so they wouldn't suspect he was different.

The Harry now? He doesn't care. He's loud in places he should be quiet. He talks how he wants. He laughs FREELY. He's learned large crowds of people? Not for him. He doesn't like being touched by strangers.

He's just Harry. Himself. Because he can be. Because he's realized even if some of the people of Patience find him strange, it doesn't matter. They'll never guess he's from outer space.

Have you noticed that every other alien we have seen is not like Harry? Not the greys, or the half human hybrids, not even Heather. When Heather is around humans who know she is an alien, we get to see the difference, but when she isn't? She fits in so well with any other neurotypical human.

Not Harry though. So yes, he is autistic because I said he is. Because I am autistic. And if you're allistic, you don't get to tell autistic people they shouldn't headcanon Harry as autistic (even though it is very obvious they're purposefully playing him as neurodivergent now.)

When you take an autistically coded character that a lot of autistic individuals relate to, and try to argue the character is actually a "child" and being "infantalised," you're actually being ableist.

You're saying that the traits we have resonated with are childish... Harry seems like he's "regressed" because instead of trying to adapt and pretend to be human, he is becoming something else entirely. Not human, but not fully alien either.

The body of doctor Harry Vanderspeigle was once just a disguise. Now it IS Harry's. It's his body, his own skin. And he's gotten comfortable in it and you know this because you deliberately witness times where he might be holding his hands like he would his claws (primarily when he's sleeping.) His brain doesn't realize he's not in his normal form, because in many ways, this is his new normal form.

He has emotions. He cares. He's in completely new territory and finding himself. And in doing so, that carefully crafted human mask? It's fallen a bit.

So that thing you label as "regression" is a thing I label as progress. He's learning still. Let him learn. Let him be. And give it time. And I hope to GOD Harry never becomes fully human to the point we can't recognize him. I hope he never loses his unique inflictions, or his love for pizza and pie. I hope he continues to love the quiet. I hope he ALWAYS laughs obnoxiously. I hope he always runs like he doesn't know what to do with his limbs. I hope you always see his emotions throughout his body because they simply cannot be contained. I hope he continues to jump when excited or pace when he's angry. I hope he stays obsessed with Law & Order forever.

Because if you take all that away, you're taking away the bits that make him Harry. You want a carbon copy human. I want the autistic alien struggling to understand human nature.

That being said, of course you can express your opinion him. And it can be discussed because everyone is going to have a different perspective.

But you don't get to dictate an autistic perspective if you are not autistic. Or try to cancel anyone for it either.

I love Harry. And I relate to him SO MUCH. And I love how much representation I can see him through him for me. Because I personally believe Alan and the writers have chosen to keep presenting this character as ND.

It's okay to dislike the direction of his character development. It's okay to find the flaws. It's okay to share that perspective. What's NOT okay is dictating the feelings of others because they might not agree with you.

I don't find him childish. I see him as an autistic individual trying to navigate a society that his brain hasn't been hardwired to understand.

And if you think he's too childish, please look closer at the why you think he is. Really be introspective on this one.

Because Harry is a parent. And has a child. And he has relationships. And he takes care of himself. Not only that, he is the town doctor and takes care of everyone else too. He is the smartest. He is the strongest. None of the characters have had to worry about the wellfare of Harry specifically. Its why no one realizes the greys have captured him. Because of course Harry would be fine, hes the alien expert. He knows what he's doing. So while everyone else spent so much time worrying about each other, no one was left to worry about Harry.

So ask yourself why you believe Harry has become "too childish" and if your answer comes down to any of his quirky traits or his misunderstandings of human nature, then you really need to consider if what you're actually uncomfortable with is autism/autistic traits.

that means this season we could have fully realized autistic ayda on the screen . understanding her own needs and not tampering herself for others , having friends and a girlfriend who love and support all of her . imagine her infodumping unashamedly ! imagine her learning that she’s not just there to be useful , and it’s ok for her to need help ! imagine her stimming !!! also the scene in capture the flag where percy is just messing around? THATS HIM. THATS SO PERCY BEHAVIOR THEY CAPTURED HIS CHARACTER PERFECTLY
