we need to give more credit to Steve Yasui, the sound mixer for the fhjy finale

the lowest moment for Brennan in d20, and by what i can only assume to be actual, real life magic, either the same dice magic Ally has that let K2 roll a nat 20 there, or by the curse that haunts Brennan in that dome, he *spills coffee on his shirt* in the exact spot and shape that Gilear has in all of the art of him.

And Steve Yasui, this absolute hero, plays the Gilear-curse effect.

here is my theory:

Brennan gave K2 true life, and she brought the Curse to our world. here, all magic has a price, and Brennan paid for bringing her here. the bad luck that haunts every DM from time to time, becoming the only actual curse in out plane of existence.

thinking about riz and how his mom and his weird romance partner both think the bad kids are bad friends to him… thinking about how riz took on every single stress token for his friends… thinking about how riz always puts his everything into helping his friends and being there for them. and the bad kids aren’t Bad Friends but sometimes they take/need a lot, and they’d be fine if he pushed back, but he never pushes back? thinking about fig’s one nice note made riz break down and send gorgug WALLS of text about how much it meant to him

sometimes i forget what an absolute gut punch "the years will go by and everyone will find someone who matters to them more than you" was and then i rewatch and come out the other side a shell of a human being

fabian once tried to get the hangman, while in dog form, to play fetch. “go get the ball!” resulted in the hellhound disappearing in the opposite direction than where fabian threw it and dragging a very disheveled and bewildered rogue by the ankle earnestly back to his master.

Fabian was working hard with The Hangman to help it get over its self loathing and hate of its hellhound form. Constantly reassuring them that yes, they were super cool and helpful as a bike but their hellhound form was EQUALLY as cool and badass.

Today they were going to spend the entire day as a dog and hanging out, something that The Hangman was annoyed and enthusiastic about in equal measure. Fabian had spent most of the morning with him just wandering around their massive estate, occasionally doleing out head scratches that made The Hangman whine and wag his tail furiously.

Now though he had been told they were going to play a game, Fabian holding something behind his back out of the hellhounds sight before turning and throwing it into the distance. The half elf shouting a command of 'Go get the ball!' which had The Hangman perking his ears before they turned and sprinted away in the oposite direction.

Fabian had been left standing on his lawn thoroughly confused for about fifteen minutes before the massive hellhound could be seen lopeing his way back up the driveway towards him. Riz dangling by his leg from his jaws and looking rather dazed and confused when he was dropped at the half elfs feet.

It was only then that Fabian remembered that right, a hellhounds main job in the lower plains was the retreival of souls. Well, at least The Hangman looked like he was enjoying himself at least.
