💠🧡critical path analysis
By:chinxe
Summary:
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are the two top detectives of the Gusu PD's ninety-ninth precinct.
It really is a shame they can't stand each other.
(Or so Detective Wei thinks).
[detective wangxianđŸ•”ïžâ€â™‚ïž]
Chapter:1/1
Words:14,338
Status:completed
Oh, oh wow. Is this what heartbreak feels like? Lan Wangji thinks he is cruel - had it been that terrible, for him, to be forced to spend time with Wei Wuxian? For the first time in a long, long time, Wei Wuxian actually thinks he might cry
~~ NO baby it's because you are so stupid đŸ€§
If it’s so urgent, you can just tell him like this,” the taxi driver replies. Wei Wuxian shrugs as much as he’s able to. “Guess you’re right.” Then, inhaling, he calls, “Lan Zhan! Lan Wangji! HanGuang-Jun! Last night, on our date, I - I really wanted to make out with you!” Several things happen in the span of the next few seconds. Lan Wangji’s eyes go very, very wide; the taxi driver says, “What the fuck?”
~~ the classic [I want to sleep with you]👌
Too much information,” Jiang Cheng groans. “No,” Nie Huaisang says, tapping furiously away at his phone, “keep talking
”
~~
Wei Wuxian!” Captain Lan yells again. He looks on the verge of exploding from outrage - whoops. “I will suspend the both of you if you do not cease and desist, right this instant!” “Thank you, Captain,” Jiang Cheng says, looking immensely pained, “but I think it’s already too late for my eyeballs at this point.”

MDZS Magic Kaito AU (funny?) Heist Scene:
Yiling Laozu (aka WWX): Ladies and gentlemen... - or better said "Gentlemen and gentlemen," for I see no ladies around on such a fine night - it is a pleasure to see you all again. *looks over at the angry policemen around, and his eyes land on Lan Wangji* Oho~ my dearest detective, you showed up! *looks around again pitifully* And yet I do not see your uncle here. May I inquire about his well being?
Lan Wangji: Hm.
Yiling Laozu, a bit more sofly: Oh... Then I wish your uncle speedy recovery. Getting a cold at his age must be tough.
Lan Wangji: Hm.
Yiling Laozu: Yes, yes. Don't worry, I am not making fun of your uncle. Please do tell him that heists without him are a bit too quiet for my liking, however. I do look forward to the next heist, at which he will hopefully participate.
Lan Wangji: Hm.
The (forgotten) police officers/police task force around them: What in the word is this conversation?

Blaming Wei Wuxian for Jin Zixuan's death does not make sense, and I don't understand why some people think so. Imagine for example in a modern day scenario, a homeless man is being attacked by several cops, while on his way to his sisters house, who have very clear intentions to kill him (I equate the Jins to cops because no matter what they do it will seen by many as "necessary" and they will not be charged for their crimes no matter how bad it is because they have the power and influence to prevent that from happening)
So in defense the homeless person sets his dog, that he had trained to protect him, on them whilst they are actively shooting at him (if you have a better representation of Wen Ning for this scenario I'd genuinely love to hear it. I chose a dog because whilst they were trained, they still have their own instincts that will influence the way they protect. Something like a gun, which someone had suggested, does not encompass the complexity of his actions even as a fierce corpse)
In the midst of this chaos, whilst the homeless person is still being shot at, another cop suddenly shows up and tells him to get his dog under control, again, whilst the homeless man is STILL being shot at and the new cop is not stopping them. The homeless man has nowhere to hide or run. Calling his dog off will be a death sentence with nothing to distract the other cops trying to kill him. As this new cop approaches closer to the homeless man, wearing the same outfit as the other cops, the dog detects him as a threat (understandably) and attacks him and unfortunately kills him.
The death is again unfortunate but in this mess of a situation, can you honestly place the blame on the homeless man and his dog who were simply trying to protect themselves from a very real and lethal threat? OR do you instead place the blame on the cops who'd started their planned and lethal assault and a bit on the dead cop who somehow thought it was a good idea to step into an active shootout zone (by the cops). Be honest and drop your biases. Who is truly at fault here?
Not to mention, afterwards, the homeless person finds out the same cops (and more) are planning to attack the homeless community he'd been protecting as revenge. So in desperation, the homeless person intercepts them and tries to talk, but before he can even finish, he is shot and wounded. Realizing that the cops won't listen to reason, he defends himself and attacks back in the hopes that he can stop them from killing his homeless community. Again, in all honesty, who is truly to blame here?
Even from a legal aspect, the homeless man would be seen as defending himself and, therefore, had the right to fight back. So how is Wei Ying in anyway at fault here? Him placing the blame on himself doesn't mean it's actually his fault. It's just makes his judgment on himself harsh. Especially since the point of the novel is to contrast a characters words and ideas to the actual story that we read.

Well Matched - Chapter 1
Lycoris radiata
When the Yiling Laozu’s spirit emerged from the Burial Mounds as a newborn Calamity, the entire cultivation world trembled in fear.
Wei Ying just wanted to find a quiet place to rest. He had no plan, so he naturally followed the strange butterfly that seemed to beckon him somewhere. What’s the worst that could happen?
“You’re adorable.”
“I thought I was charming.”
“Charming and adorable. I’m tempted to keep you.”
“
.sweet-talker.”
“Rejoice, Wei Wuxian is dead!”
“Fantastic, fantastic indeed! Remind me again, who was the hero who killed the Yiling Laozu?”
“His shidi! The little sect leader Jiang Cheng!”
Everyone in the tavern laughed and declared those who have led the Siege of the Burial Mounds heroes. They all toasted to the Patriarch’s demise.
It had been several months since the news first broke out and many have not yet ceased celebrating.
A condescending snort cut through their revelry. All eyes were drawn to the rogue cultivator lounging in his seat. One youth lazily twisted his head to the man’s direction and cast his left eye on the speaker.
“Too early for that.” He rumbled. “The days of the Yiling Laozu are far from over.”
“What do you mean?”
“Let me ask you all a question.” The speaker said. Clearly pleased to have everyone’s attention. “Since Wei Wuxian wasn’t born into the Jiang sect, how many Soul-Tranquilization Rites has he undergone before his violent death?”
Almost every member in the tavern paled in realization.
“You can’t mean that he’ll come back as a ghost!”
“Even if he did, every soul within the Burial Mounds are trapped there. The amount of resentful energy alone makes it impossible for the dead to break free!”
“The Burial Mounds no longer hold as much resentful energy as they used to.” The cultivator informed them gravely.
“What do you mean?!”
“Speak plainly!”
“Don’t go around spreading false rumours for attention, you old fart!”
The only person who didn’t put up a fuss was the youth who was watching the pandemonium with a bored expression. The cultivator gazed at the anxious crowd in silence before loudly slamming his jug on the table.
“Silence! Do you wish to hear what happened after the Siege or not?!”
Everyone quieted and listened to the cultivator with wrapped attention as he began his tale:
“After the Patriarch’s demise, all was quiet for a while and the Great Sects believed it would be the end of it. Yet, some wandering cultivators detected strange disturbances within the Mounds. The resentful energy appeared to be constantly fluctuating. Through their observations, they saw a thick red fog emerge and cover the mountains. The wanderers notified the sects who sent out members of high rank. Those same men would come back and swear blind that they saw the Patriarch lurking around.”
“How is it that no one has heard of this until now?”
“The sects silenced as many gossipers as they could find. They did not wish to spread panic or give the demonic worshippers hope.” The cultivator cast the interrupter a slight glare. “May I continue now?” He asked dryly.
“At that point, all of the sects believed that Wei Wuxian did not pass on. Many high-ranking cultivators, sect leaders and head disciples converged on the spot where they sensed the yin energy was at its highest, believing that the Patriarch’s spirit was still recuperating. Wanting to put an end to this drawn-out battle, they rushed at the swirling mass only to stop in their tracks!”
“Thorny black vines shot through the rocky ground and held them all in a vice-like grip. They tried to hack them off with their swords, but new vines would grow in their place. The bound cultivators felt themselves growing weak. Somehow, Wei Wuxian drained them of their spiritual energy. What’s worse, the red fog surrounding the mountain hardened and formed into a barrier. By the time the cultivators realized that they had walked into a trap, there was a familiar sound of a dizi playing.”
The crowd’s eyes were as wide as saucers. The youth’s eyes were narrowed in deep thought. Many leaned forward as the cultivator continued with his story:
“A figure emerged through the fog. None other than the Yiling Laozu himself! Different, but still recognizable. When he was last seen, he was gaunt, injured and looked ready to collapse at any moment. Back then, he looked fragile but unmistakably human. Now, not anymore. His skin was as white as pale snow. The grey of his robes swirled unnaturally against the breeze like ash. The black of his clothes were so dark, they appeared to be devouring any form of light. It almost looked as if it were made of shadows. His eyes let out an eerie blood red glow. There was a vial full of -what appeared to be- ashes suspended around his neck by a red string. The strangest addition to Wei Wuxian’s appearance was the countless ghostly-green fireflies floating around him. What purpose they serve, I do not know.”  The speaker shook his head. His expression haunted.
“Everyone believed that the Patriarch was about to start another massacre. One that would overshadow what he did in Nightless City. Instead, he plays one sharp note and Wei Wuxian dissolved into a murder of crows! The crows and fireflies passed through the shield and scattered into several different directions. Everyone else was left trapped within the barrier. For whatever reason, Wei Wuxian chose to spare the cultivation world his wrath that night.”
The crowd traded panicked whispers among themselves. The speaker watched them with an amused expression.
“You make it sound as if you were there.” The red robed youth piped up, while the rest of the tavern were busy processing the Yiling Laozu’s strange new powers. The rogue cultivator looked at the youth, affronted.
“I was there, ignorant brat! It took us nearly six months to break through that damned barrier and another three to search for that devil’s weakness in the Burial Mounds!”
“How has no one heard of this until now?” A member of the crowd asked disbelievingly.
“This is now common knowledge in the entire cultivation world. It’s not my fault no one cared to inform the people in this backwatered village!”
The youth snorted and shot back “How much of this story is fabricated? Unless you can provide proof that you were there yourself, I don’t see much of a point in listening to your fairy tales.”
The crowd let out murmurs of agreement. The rogue cultivator felt a tick mark growing on his forehead. He grabbed an item that was wrapped in layers of talismans from his pocket and slammed it on the table in front of the youth.
“Here’s your proof! The jade token that was once tied to Chenqing!” The youth picked up the token and examined it. The item exuded an absurd amount of yin energy that could only belong to something powerful.
“It certainly appears authentic.” He commented. The cultivator snatched back the token from the young man’s hands.
“Bah! What would you know?” He grumbled as a he re-wrapped the item and put it back in his pocket. The youth shot him an unimpressed look.
“You mentioned that you and your fellow cultivators were looking for the Patriarch’s weakness. Did you find it?” The youth asked blithely. The rogue cultivator gnashed his teeth.
“No. The Yiling Laozu is far too cunning.” He faced the crowd once more.
“While normal ghosts can be dissipated in numerous ways or sealed with a spirit-trapping pouch, beings like Wei Wuxian can only be destroyed through the destruction of their ashes.”
“Didn’t you mention he had a vial of ashes wrapped around his neck? Why were you looking for them in the Mounds?” A member of the crowd asked, confused.
“I’m getting there!” The rogue snapped before continuing “We looked for clues on where would Wei Wuxian go to for refuge. Through our findings we found many similar looking vials and took the chance that maybe his was among them. When we started destroying every vial we could see, we realized these ashes belonged to other ghosts. The truly horrifying part? After we captured a stray soul and demanded information, it was revealed that they willingly sacrificed themselves for the Patriarch. He did not even have to use his flute on them!” The cultivator shook his head in disbelief before continuing. “Somehow, this Wei Wuxian won the ghosts' loyalty after the destruction of his mortal body. They even called him ‘our lord’!”
“Perhaps he’s building a city for the dead as we speak.” One member mumbled. Almost everyone in the tavern let out shudders at that possibility. The only ones who weren’t affected was the story-teller and the youth. The rogue cultivator snorts.
“Now who’s telling fairy tales?” He took on a severe countenance.
“If the Yiling Laozu decided to create a ghost realm, the amount of resentful energy needed would attract the attention of every single cultivator within a thousand miles. Don’t you get it, you fools? He’s in hiding! Right now, he has likely suppressed the majority of his powers to such a degree that it would take a strong spiritual weapon to detect him.”
“Do you mean that finding the Patriarch is a hopeless endeavour?” The youth drawled out in a bored manner.
“Not quiet. Remember the ghost-flies? Normal fireflies only come out in the summer. Yet, no matter the season, these creatures follow him wherever he goes. We merely have to wait for news on them.” The rogue cultivator concluded.
“How sad that the entirety of the cultivation world has to rely on mere rumours and heresy to catch one measly ghost.” The youth remarked, casually.
“Well, do you have any better ideas?!” The rogue cultivator shouted. “If you don’t, then get out of my sight! You disrespectful wretch!”
The youth shrugged and got up. He brushed past the ill-tempered cultivator and smirked in secret as he exited the tavern. Once the ‘young man’ was a fair distance away, he pulled out the token that he snatched from the arrogant cultivator. A silver butterfly landed on the item. Hua Cheng waited as the creature scented the yin signature and watched as it took off in search of the source. He continued his leisurely walk.
Wei Wuxian. He thought. What an interesting character you are.
Chapter End.
Author's Note: Lycoris radiata is the botanical name for red spider lily. The flower is typically associated with death, long journeys, sad memories and final goodbyes. Interestingly, the colour red usually means love and passion.
Omake:
WWX: *sneezes for the nth time that day*
WWX: Aish! Have I suddenly become so popular?! Why the hell are people talking about me so much?!
WQ & WN: *judgmentally staring*
WWX: *sweatdrops* Nevermind~
All three: *see something let out a silver glow in a corner* Wait. What was that?
I'll try and post the rest of this fic one chapter per-week until I eventually run out. Hope ya enjoyed it!

Lan Wangji plays Inquiry that night, drunk, bleeding, crying. His fingertips hurt, red, tired - but the guqin sings underneath them and he knows nobody will answer, but it hurts, it hurts, it hurts-
Let Wei Ying rest.
The spirit is heavy with barely contained resentment, powerful, dark. The only reason why the barriers of the Cloud Recesses don't detect it is because it has disguised itself.
Let Wei Ying rest.
The spirit draws on Wangji's guqin without being asked anything, it seems to twist on itself not to break the instrument and its owner.
He has forgiven you. All of you.
Lan Wangji cries quietly, every note whipping at his heart not unlike his elders have whipped at his back.
We know you love him. We love him too. But let him rest.
"Did he know... did he know I-"
The strings sound harsher, angrier.
No. You never said anything.
"Did... did he die alone?"
A nonsensical question. He feels the spirit's disdain at it.
No. We held him through it.
"Thank you..."
Wei Ying won't answer. Don't call out to him again. It troubles and scares him. Let him rest!
The spirit vanishes before Lan Wangji can ask it anything else. The silence is heavy, rings through his ears like a disonant bell.
The throbbing pain on his chest is the only thing Lan Wangji can focus on other than the weight of regret on his heart.
He never plays Inquiry for Wei Ying again.
Let him rest.

I'm not sure! I've always been pretty rubbish at sensing energies, though. It sounds like something you should be able to figure out pretty easily, though!
Wow, you really do fanboy. Weird. I don't think I've ever seen you blush before.
Shutup Ritchie-
Yes, Wei Ying is very talented at sensing a great many things.
You didn't have to say that for me.... But yes, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to pick up whether they accumulate resentful energy or not.
That being said, in the two nights since our arrival, I have not detected an ounce of resentful energy anywhere, in the depths of the forest by New Bark Town or otherwise. Perhaps not unusual especially in such an unfamiliar environment like this, but it is a little jarring for me.

Part two of what I'm tentatively labelling the Ferryman AU :P (if this sounds disorganised it's because I'm feeling like if I don't write this down something Bad will happen)
Okay so we left off with something or other I'm not going to pretend to remember basically now I need to tell you important things. Okay so, there's one day when the veil between life and death is at its thinnest and it's the only day that Wei Wuxian can cross through into the mortal realm - unlike other gods, who can cross through at any time. Why? Uh. Because Wei Wuxian has an evil boss called Bai Wuxiang who he's certain is fucking that weird emperor god Jun Wu (oh honey, it's so much more simple than that). Okay, that's not the only reason - the real reason is because it's the one day where the dead spirits can interact with the live world, and Wei Wuxian acts as their guardian, but he mainly lets them do what they want because he will Know if they do something that endangers either other spirits or living beings. I completely forgot to mention but obviously this day of the dead is Wei Wuxian's birthday because of course I'm going to angst that up, who do you take me for. There's so much I want to splurge about but first let's talk about the cool ass backstory/reasoning I've got for why Wei Wuxian became this Ferryman deity type guy. So so so, Baoshan Sanren was the Ferryman, untethering souls and guiding them in groups to the afterlife, all of that jazz. She heard all kinds of final wishes and regrets and promises and words, and she tried to fulfil them when she had the chance (she was less overworked than Wei Wuxian for Reasons). When she stumbles across a couple of cultivators dying in one another's arms, she hears the strongest regrets and wishes ever - not for the cultivators themselves but for the son they had apparently left in a nearby village. Those are the wishes that stay with her, and the first ones she moves to fulfil when she gets a tiny bit of free time. She finds a tiny little boy in Yiling, so scared and alone and her cold immortal heart aches because she may be used to scooping children's souls up out of their bodies but that doesn't mean she ever gets used to seeing a child in pain. She hates how this little infant looks, and finds herself going back to Yiling whenever she has time. She just wants to help this little A-Ying find someone safe and loving to look after him. The Ferryman cannot interact with the living, though. Well...apart from one day of the year. Every time that day rolls around, she's there to give A-Ying some food and love, wishing that she could do more for him - Bai Wuxiang is an asshole and hates the living, he hates it when the gods mingle with mortals, let alone helps them, so this is all she can do. Every year. Every day that A-Ying gets a little older. Food and support. He begins to look for her before she can go looking for him, beaming up at her as though he isn't hurt or scared or alone, as though he's not being beaten by assholes or attacked by dogs. Baoshan Sanren understands the meaning of helplessness in a way she never has before. Meanwhile, bitch fuck Jun Wu is like "damn my Ferryman is becoming far too attached to this-" and then he sees Wei Wuxian and is like Fuck because when someone has a chance at ascending, there's this sort of aura around them that is detectable by absolute fuck faces - I mean by the Heavenly Emperor. Jun Wu doesn't want this little riffraff freak to ascend because there's something Off about him (it's because little A-Ying has always been on the edge of the border of life and death and it shows with how resentful energy clings to him). So Jun Wu decides to kill two birds with one stone by getting rid of his Ferryman's worldly attachment and avoiding someone he dislikes getting into Heaven. Baoshan Sanren finds A-Ying's body. She also finds his soul sitting next to it, curled up in a little ball and crying, and yet still smiling and asking her why she's come early this year.

This story is amazing for it's take on worst day Nightless City Wei Ying being pulled into the modern world of 30something private detective Wei Wuxian as he embarks on a case that rocks the society he grew up in and fled from. A very familiar society to Wei Ying, in some ways. The casefic is solid, the banter is humorous, and Wei Ying gets to be both awesome and helped. @bcaugust

Summary: The Yiling Laozu dies, and the world cheers. The Yiling Laozu dies, and falls through dimensions. The Yiling Laozu dies, and appears in Wei Wuxian’s living room. Or: Upon dying in the Burial Mounds, canon Wei Wuxian ends up flung into an alternate universe. Needless to say that both he and their Wei Wuxian are very confused.

So I'm on episode 14 of a new show and it's taken over and now I want to write predictions for the last 10 episodes of Desire Catcher below (cdrama, crime solving with 2 male leads iykwim). Luo Fei I'll abbreviate as LF (detective in the back) and Lu Feng Ping as LFP (hypnotist in the front). If you need a reason to watch this, the hypnotist is basically like if Wei Ying from MDZS dressed like Castiel from Supernatural. The detective also gives off Lan Zhan vibes so the comparison is not entirely inaccurate. There's a few more parallels which you'll have to watch to find out though ;)
Tumblr media
In no particular order, here's what I think will happen next:
LFP is going to manipulate a case file for the bad guy
LFP will enter a trap set by bad guy and LF gonna save him complete with some sort of injury and hurt/comfort
Bad guy is already shaping up to be a hypnotist or someone very aware of the field - he will hypnotize someone on LF's team (my money is on childhood friend or new team member)
the purple/blue ring has to come into play somehow as part of the hypnosis maybe?
another LF and LFP fight scene where they're fighting for real but they still end up both on the ground just like in the first scene
LFP will not end up betraying LF for the bad guy (he was acting the whole time?)
the nurse turns out to be on the bad guy's side OR she's part of a murder plot
LF sleeps over at LFP's place and eats clay pot rice
the team goes out drinking and eating together (final shot maybe)
the team's forensic analyst person gets targeted by the bad guy bc we haven't seen him in a while and he's a father figure to LF
There's more to predict but let's see where we're at by the end of episode 14. No pressure to interact but tagging @thinkonce-acttwice in case you want to see :)

Hello and welcome to Day 8 of "Let's Explore My Plot Bunnies"
Tumblr media
Today, I wanna explore one simple idea that came to me because of a GIF of all things. This GIF to be more precise:
Tumblr media
The fic idea basically boils down to MDZS Magic Kaito AU.
Edit: As of February 6th, this fic has a title - "How to steal a gem (and a heart along the way)"
Main reasons that make this idea appealing for me:
Wei Wuxian as a magician and as a Phantom Thief is so cool to me.
Detective Lan Wanji is something I never knew I wanted in my life.
I freaking love Magic Kaito and Detective Conan.
Kuroba Kaito is so WWX coded is not even funny. (If these 2 meet, one (or both) of them is getting hurt because they take huge risks and are reckless as hell)
A short description of the plot:
Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren are a famous magician couple (Cangse Sanren is more often the magic assistant) that died in a fire 10 years ago, leaving their young seven-years old son in the care of his grandmother.
Because of his grandmother's demanding job, Wei Ying, curtesy Wuxian, ends up in the company of the Jiang family, who were friends of his parents. Jiang Fengmian is a police officer who is in charge of a task force, while Yu Ziyuan is an attorney. Wei Wuxian ends up going to the same school as the Jiang family's children, Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli.
The years pass, and when Wei Wuxian is 17 years old, he learns that the accident that took his parents' life was not truly an accident. He learns that his parents were once Phantom Thieves that ended up attracting the attention of some unsavory people - who, according to his father, are always wearing gold colored clothes. They wanted the two Phantom Thieves to work for them in order to find a specific gem called the "Yin Tiger Seal," which supposedly grants the owner immortality. Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren were killed because they refused the offer by the people in gold.
Coincidentally, as Wei Wuxian learns about this, Yiling Laozu - a famous Phantom Thief that dissappeared 10 years ago - makes an announcement that he will steal a gem. Wei Wuxian knows this is definitely not the real Yiling Laozu since his father, Wei Changze, was the Yiling Laozu before his death. Still, he is curious and, as Jiang Cheng would say, "very stupid." Thus, Wei Wuxian takes up the mantle of the Yiling Laozu to see what the copy-cat wants.
Wei Wuxian did not expect that two siblings, Wen Ning and Wen Qing, were behind the copy-cat Yiling Laozu. The two want to lure out Wei Changze's killers and bring them to justice. (Wei Changze saved them and their family, so Wen Ning and Wen Qing want to repay the kindness by making sure he gets the justice he deserves)
Wei Wuxian also didn't expect to enjoy being the Yiling Laozu so much. Or that he would have an unfortunate meeting with the people in gold that killed his parents. That meeting, however, made him want to not only put those people behind bars but also completely destroy the "Yin Tiger Seal" so that no one will ever kill another for it.
Meanwhile,
The Lan family, a family where all members are in some way, shape, or form involved into the police, is roped together with the Jiang family to catch the Yiling Laozu that just came back.
Their youngest son, Lan Wangji, who is a detective, seems awfully interested in catching the thief himself. For him, Yiling Laozu is the definition of chaos and should be put in jail for his crimes. And yet, the more Lan Wanji fails to catch the ever-elusive Yiling Laozu, the more captivated by the man he becomes. Where other thieves would be more ruthless, Yiling Laozu seems almost playful in all of their encounters - as if he is truly just playing around and putting on a show for the people who watch his heists. The thief never killed or injured people either; even the task force - if one doesn't count their ego being hurt - never came in direct danger. (It doesn't help that the thief always returns the gems he stole and never kept one for himself yet)
So, Lan Wanji thinks there might be a reason for the heists held by Yiling Laozu. Though it is mere speculation on his part, Lan Wangji thinks this thief that seems incapable of hurting anyone may be in danger.
The detective's speculation turned into reality when, during one of Yiling Laozu's magic shows/heists, someone shoots the thief. From this moment onwards, Lan Wangji dedicates himself to finding out who shot the thief and the reason behind the Yiling Laozu's return.
So what do you guys think? Good? Bad? Let me know!
I still have more fanfic ideas to share, and apparently, they multiply all the time - I can't even see one simple GIF without my brain making a freaking plot bunny out of it.
Regardless, I hope you guys have a great day/night and take care of yourselves!
I will see you tomorrow,

From the next chapter of “this body yet survives.”
—————
Nearing the winter festival, Wei Ying had a breakthrough with the talismans Madam Jin had commissioned, completing one that lit up red when two people who were related held it when it was activated, and black when they were unrelated.
“Red for good fortune, black for neutrality,” he clarified when he demonstrated the talisman using the Jiang siblings and then Lan Zhan and Xiongzhang. “It would light up red if Xiansheng held it with one of you, too.”
He was still working on one that would find relatives in the first place, hoping to modify the talisman he and Lan Tayi had created to reveal Su She.
“They would have to be very close by, and I guess that would be up to Jin-furen to arrange. It’d be easier if I could make something like a compass, but that wouldn’t work for blood
energy would be easier to detect that way
”
