So I'm on episode 14 of a new show and it's taken over and now I want to write predictions for the last 10 episodes of Desire Catcher below (cdrama, crime solving with 2 male leads iykwim). Luo Fei I'll abbreviate as LF (detective in the back) and Lu Feng Ping as LFP (hypnotist in the front). If you need a reason to watch this, the hypnotist is basically like if Wei Ying from MDZS dressed like Castiel from Supernatural. The detective also gives off Lan Zhan vibes so the comparison is not entirely inaccurate. There's a few more parallels which you'll have to watch to find out though ;)
In no particular order, here's what I think will happen next:
LFP is going to manipulate a case file for the bad guy
LFP will enter a trap set by bad guy and LF gonna save him complete with some sort of injury and hurt/comfort
Bad guy is already shaping up to be a hypnotist or someone very aware of the field - he will hypnotize someone on LF's team (my money is on childhood friend or new team member)
the purple/blue ring has to come into play somehow as part of the hypnosis maybe?
another LF and LFP fight scene where they're fighting for real but they still end up both on the ground just like in the first scene
LFP will not end up betraying LF for the bad guy (he was acting the whole time?)
the nurse turns out to be on the bad guy's side OR she's part of a murder plot
LF sleeps over at LFP's place and eats clay pot rice
the team goes out drinking and eating together (final shot maybe)
the team's forensic analyst person gets targeted by the bad guy bc we haven't seen him in a while and he's a father figure to LF
There's more to predict but let's see where we're at by the end of episode 14. No pressure to interact but tagging @thinkonce-acttwice in case you want to see :)

The FSYY Body Count List
…Because when you are trying to procrastinate an assignment, you'll focus your attention on anything that isn't the assignment, no matter how strange the subject matter is.
So here is a list of the individual Chan juniors' body count during the course of the FSYY novel. Fantastic creatures (non-sapient, not yaoguais that have cultivated a human form, but aren't regular animals either) are listed separately.
Nezha: 15 characters
-Li Gen the Yaksha (Qiankun Ring to the head)
-Ao Bing (pulled off steed with sash, Qiankun Ring to the head, tendons pulled out)
-Verdant Cloud Boy (archery accident)
-Yao Shaosi (speared)
-Colored Cloud Immortal (speared)
-Deng Zhong (knocked off steed with Qiankun Ring, then speared)
-Ji Li (speared)
-Li Qi (knocked down with ring, speared)
-Pong Hong (knocked down with ring, speared)
-Wang Bao (knocked off steed with ring, speared)
-Ma Zhong (incinerated by the Nine Fire Dragon Bell Cover)
-Long Anji (knocked down by a ring better than his, speared)
-Gao Lanying (didn't get her needles out in time, knocked down, speared)
-Ding Ce (killed by the Qiankun Ring)
-Lu Renjie (knocked off his steed by the Qiankun Ring in a fatal blow)
Note: I didn't count the Colored Cloud Boy, Lady Shiji's other disciple that gets bonked by the Qiankun Ring, because his death is never confirmed, even though he was already "struggling for his life on the ground" when Shiji comes out of the cave.
Yang Jian: 13 characters, 2 creatures
-Chen Jiugong (speared)
-Zhou Xin (Skyhowler'ed, then chopped in half)
-Bi Huan (Skyhowler'ed, then speared)
-Wen Liang (tried to escape after being bricked by Nezha, got hit in the shoulder by Yang Jian's slingshot, fell off his horse, and died)
-Yu Hua (Leizhen Zi knocked him off his steed, Yang Jian finished him off with his polearm)
-Zhang Kui's mom (indirectly, he tricked Zhang Kui into killing her via transformation arts)
-Chang Hao (Yang Jian transformed into a flying centipede, snipped its head off, reverted to his true form, chopped up the snake, then incinerated it with Five Thunder Arts)
-Wu Long (Yang Jian turned into a golden rooster and pecked it to pieces)
-Yang Xian (tried to flee after seeing Yang Jian turn into a tiger, chopped in half)
-Dai Li (Skyhowler'ed, then speared)
-Guo Chen (speared)
-Lei Kun (speared)
-The Nine-headed Pheasant Demoness (indirectly: Skyhowler'ed, then decapitated by Zhou soldiers on the execution ground under Yang Jian's watch)
Creatures:
The Flower Fox Ferret, Mo Lishou's monstrous pet (Yang Jian burst out of its body after being eaten, tearing it into two halves in the process)
The One-horned Black Smoke Beast, Zhang Kui's magical steed (indirectly, same as Zhang Kui's mom)
Huang Tianhua: 7 characters
Chen Tong (Fire Dragon Dart sucked into Tianhua's flower basket, then decapitated by the beam of the Moye Sword)
The Four Mo Brothers (killed by the Heart-piercing Nail)
Yu Qin (killed by the Fire Dragon Dart)
Chen Geng (knocked off steed by the Fire Dragon Dart, then decapitated)
Yang Ren: 6 characters
Fang Yizhen (incinerated by the Five Fire Fan)
Li Ping (caught in the fan's AOE while trying to persuade Lv Yue)
Chen Geng (incinerated by the fan)
Lv Yue (incinerated by the fan)
Yu Xian & Yu Zhao (incinerated together)
Leizhen Zi: 5 characters
Xin Huan (Skyhowler'ed, then finished off by Leizhen Zi with a staff to the head)
Zhou Xin (Staff to the head)
Peng Zun (knocked off his steed via a staff to the shoulder, then decapitated)
Yu Guang (staff to the head)
Lei Peng (KO'ed with staff)
Huang Tianxiang: 4 characters
Feng Lin (speared)
Tao Rong (speared)
Gou Zhang (speared)
Gao Gui (speared)
Wei Hu: 4 characters
Yang Wenhui (Demon-subduing Club to the head)
Yu Da (clubbed)
Zhang Kui (clubbed)
Jade Pipa Demoness (indirectly: decapitated by soldiers under his supervision)
Jinzha: 3 characters
Wang Mo (immobilized by the Dragon Stake, then killed with a sword)
Yang Sen (immobilized by Dragon Stake, killed with sword)
Dou Rong (indirectly: Jinzha immobilized him with the Dragon Stake, but Jiang Wenhuan made the killing blow)
Muzha: 2 characters
Li Xingba (killed with one of Muzha's twin flying swords)
Lady Chedi (killed with twin flying sword)
...
Final Thoughts
-If you count the creatures, Nezha and Yang Jian's kill counts will be equal, though several of Yang Jian's kills are indirect.
-Jiang Ziya: tfw your logistic guy, responsible for overseeing the supply line, has a body count as high as your designated army vanguard.
-Yeah, Yang Jian's official job in the Zhou army is the Grain Transport Officer. I think it really fits his personality——the clever, ruthless trickster who's also a mature, polite disciple.
-Though Leizhen Zi's kill counts can't match Nezha and Yang Jian, there are multiple descriptions of him knocking down whole sections of the city wall with a single staff strike. Maybe he's the anti-fortification specialist of the team or something. /lh
-Huang Tianhua: the ranged attacker who keeps trying to be a melee DPS. /j
-For real though, he seems to rely a lot more on the Fire Dragon Darts from a slain foe, and when the Heart-piercing Nail is used after the Mo brothers' demise, it only ends up going straight through Xin Huan's wing and the Winged Immortal's right arm.
-Yang Ren always gives me the impression of a soft-spoken bureaucrat who gradually discovered his inner pyromaniac after receiving the Five Fire Fan.
-My list is only counting the named characters, but everyone on this list who's still alive during the Ten Thousand Immortal Formation Arc are described as unleashing their might and treasures during the battle.
-Considering the AOE effects of some of these treasures, they probably send a lot more filler NPCs into the Investiture.
-BTW, there are 152 names on the Investiture who are labelled as having died in the Ten Thousand Immortal Formation. 124, if you leave out the 28 Lunar Mansions, who are killed by the 4 Immortal Swords seized from Patriarch Tongtian's previous formation.
-How many percent of those 124 kills each Chan Sect participant is responsible for is up to your imagination.
-Forget about the Nezha age discourse——Huang Tianxiang was probably about 10 when he made his first kill, since the text described his head as "still bald". If I remember correctly, in the Ming dynasty, before 10, most children had their heads shaved completely bald, or leaving only a few patches of hair tied up in a braid/bun.
-He's also 14 when he made his third kill, and 17 when he was executed by Qiu Yin. Four chapters prior, Huang Tianhua died to Gao Jineng.
-Jinzha and Muzha: tfw your total kill counts combined is only a third of your little brother's.
-The one detail I've observed is that Jinzha ends up rescuing/attempting to rescue Nezha, Huang Tianhua, Jiang Ziya, and Tianhua again (together with Muzha) after they get knocked down.
-I feel kinda bad for Muzha when I look at the numbers. He does cut off one of Lv Yue's arms after recovering from his first plague attack, though.

Doing kill counts of the ATLA universe out of boredom (not including the Yangchen or Roku novels because I have not read them yet, so no spoilers).
Sozin: Unknown, but he committed genocide on the Air Nomads, so at least thousands.
Azulon and Ozai: Unknown but are to blame for the death of thousands, maybe millions.
Jianzhu: Kelsang, Saiful, Chamberlain Hui and a few other sages, all those Yellow Necks-- he had confirmed kill count of over 5000 people.
Tagaka: Unknown amount of people, but she killed Amak and clearly killed more. So at least one known and many others unknown.
Amak: Unknown but he was a professional assassin, so-- yeah, probably a dozen or two at least.
Kelsang: The Living Typhoon! He caused the deaths of a bunch of pirates. Unknown amount of kills, though.
Hei-Ran: Unknown amount of kills, but she had the record of most kills during Agni Kais, so several people at least.
Yun: Like four randos in the Earth Kingdom, Jianzhu, Lu Beifong, Chancellor Dairin, a bunch of Fire Nation guards, Father Glowworm-- like a dozen kills at least.
Kyoshi: Killed Xu Ping An, Yun and Chin the Conqueror, so known kill count of three. Unknown, definitely more.
Lao Ge: Unknown but probably many people.
Kuruk: No known human kills, but did slay several dark spirits.
Gyatso: He was surrounded by a lot of corpses of Firebenders, so the guy definitely killed like a dozen people at least.
Aang (possessed by the Ocean Spirit): A few hundreds at least. Then again that wasn't really him because the kid was possessed, that was the Ocean Spirit*
Zhao: One known, the original Moon Spirit.
Long Feng: One, Jet. Thought it was really unclear at the time.
Yon Rha: One known, Kya.
Sokka: One, Combustion Man*
Azula: One, Aang. Sure he came back but the kid was dead.
Ursa: One, Azulon.
Zaheer: The Earth Queen, and I guess you could kinda count Aiwei? Though he didn't really die. Anyway, one or two.
Ghazan: I guess you can count himself?
Tarrlok: Two, himself and Noatak.
Unalaq: One, Raava I guess? She came back though.
Korra: Technically One, Unavaatu. Sure, her uncle was gonna die anyway, but she finished the job and felt responsible for not saving him, so she kinda saw it as killing him.
Mako: One, he killed Ming-Hua with lightning.
Suyin: One, he killed P'Li.
Kuvira: Hiroshi and two guards, so like three.
So far I can't think of any other deaths? Like there's people like Iroh who was a general and most likely killed people as well, and you can argue that the rest of the Gaang likely took some more lives (most of all Sokka, Toph and Suki while they were taking down those airships during the comet, I mean someone had to fucking die there c'mon), as well as probably believing that the rest of the Red Lotus killed as well. And more probable kills from more people. But no confirmation though lmao.

Summary:
500 years after Sun Wukong's (Aaron Kwok) imprisonment under the Five Fingers Mountain, a young Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang (Feng Shaofeng) sets out for a journey to the Thunder Monastery in India to collect Buddha's scriptures. When he is attacked by a tiger, he is forced to free Wukong and the Monkey King learns that he has to protect the monk throughout the journey, because the Bodhisattva Guanyin ensured he would be bound by an enchanted circlet that can cause him pain whenever Tang Sanzang chants a certain sutra. Soon the duo meet Zhu Bajie (Xiaoshenyang), a lustful pig demon, and Sha Wujing (Him Law), a djinn-like monk. He fights a dragon, defeats it and transforms it into a horse as his mount.
The company travel to the Yun Hai Xi Kingdom, a land terrorized by the White Bone Demon (Gong Li) who has been eating people in order to extend her unnatural life and avoid the Wheel of Reincarnation. As the demoness learns about Sanzang, she decides to eat him in order to stop her reincarnation cycle and achieve everlasting demonhood. She takes the appearance of an old woman and lures the group into a cottage in the woods. To prevent Wukong from using his truth-seeking eyes to see through her disguise immediately, she throws tainted dust into his eyes that clouds his sight. Then while her disguised minions keep Wukong, Bajie and Wujing occupied, the demoness tells Sanzang a story about how she was forced to marry as a young girl, and when her village suffered famine, the people blamed her for it, even calling her an evil demon, and attempted to kill her as a sacrifice to the gods. As Tang comforts the old lady, she attempts to kill him, but is stopped by Wukong. The demoness escapes before Wukong can deal the killing blow and leaves the dead body of the old lady behind. Sanzang and the others don't believe Wukong that all the women he murdered were demons, and blame him for killing the innocent. Sanzang punishes Wukong by chanting the sutra and causing the circlet to tighten painfully on his head. Afterwards, Sanzang climbs to the top of a mountain where Wukong is sulking. Sanzang tells Wukong he thinks they are both very alike, for they both only trust what their own eyes sees. But together, they are better able to discern the truth. This is why they were all chosen to be on this journey together.
The group arrives to the kingdom's capital and the King (Fei Xiang) throws a feast for them, begging Sanzang to exorcise the bloodthirsty demoness from their land. Suddenly Lady White appears and demands the monk, but he offers her his help in enlightenment instead. She tells Wukong that they are both very alike, and tries to persuade Wukong to let her devour the monk, but he deceives her instead and a fight ensues. During the chaos, the King's guards kidnap Sanzang. It is revealed that it's actually been the King kidnapping and killing the children in a desperate attempt to cure himself of a cursed disease by drinking their blood. He tries to kill Sanzang, but Wukong arrives and saves the monk and the surviving children as well. All of the group are celebrated as heroes, but as a little girl approaches Sanzang, Wukong beats her and her mother to death as well, because his truth-seeking eyes perceive both were possessed by the White Bone Demon. In a fit of anger and disbelief, Tang banishes Wukong away. As soon as Wukong leaves, Sanzang gets kidnapped by the demoness.
In the demoness' lair, the White Bone Demon gives Sanzang a day to convince her to give up her evil ways and embrace nonviolence and enlightenment as the true path to immortality. She reveals to him the story she had told him earlier was true, recounting her previous life as a mortal. Right before Sanzang's time is up, he is saved by Wukong at the last minute. Wukong, Bajie and Wujing fight the White Bone Demon and her army and finally defeat her, with Wukong mortally wounding her. The Buddha comes down from the Heavens to collect the defeated demoness' soul and banish it to oblivion but Sanzang pleads Buddha to grant her mercy and give Sanzang one last chance to save her soul from destruction. Buddha tells him that he would have to lead her on the path herself, meaning he would have to sacrifice his own life. The monk begs the demoness to show remorse and accept the Wheel of Reincarnation, but the White Bone Demon would rather die as a broken tainted soul in Sanzang's body instead of returning to the Wheel of Reincarnation. Saddened, Tang begs Wukong to kill him, too. The Monkey King refuses at first, but Sanzang explains how he used to think he just had to recite Buddha's teachings to convince people to become good. Now he understands he must also lead by example and do good in order to convince people. Sanzang had to do this for his own journey towards enlightenment. Wukong finally understands the monk's desire to help the demoness change her fate, and tearfully agrees, promising Sanzang to wait for his return. Wukong brings his staff down and Sanzang's body is changed into a statue. In return Sanzang says if he gets a chance to do so in his next life, he would be glad to be Wukong's master again. Because of Sanzang's sacrifice, he succeeds in leading the demoness to her next reincarnation, freeing her of her pain and hatred.
Some time later, Wukong and his friends still wait for the return of the monk, but continue their journey to the Thunder Monastery. Wukong rides on Sanzang's horse with Sanzang's statue strapped to his back. From Heaven, Guanyin drops a bead of water from her magic vase that falls to earth and hits right at Sanzang's hand. The surface cracks, revealing a human finger underneath.

No but seriously I should not be ferally grinning at this sad MV style flashback sequence ep. 17 Luo Fei is having about Lu Feng Ping. It's just that I'm so sure all is going to turn out fine that I'm wearing the biggest rose-tinted glasses and watching my ship get some canon (not misspelled) fodder.

Story 3-- The Tragedy of Two Generation
"Twenty years have passed," Ping spoke with her voice trembling. "Pu, Have you ever thought of seeing me again?"
Pu looked up. "Ping, I thought it was over between us. Why you showing up here now?"
Ping turned her back to him. "Over? When you abandoned me, did you think the pain you caused to me would end? "
"I’m not lack conscience," Pu said heavily. "I arranged for your livelihood—"
"Shut up!" Ping cut him off sharply. "Do you think money could erase the fact that you abandoned me? Do you have any idea how I raised two children alone all these years?"
Pu’s voice lost control. "Two children?"
Ping replied. "Did you think it was just Dahai Lu? There’s another—a girl. Her name is Feng, and she’s here, working as your servant!"
Pu frozen, his lips trembling slightly.
"What’s wrong?" Ping mocked. "Manager Zhou.”
"You’re saying... Feng is my daughter?" Pu’s voice trembled.
"Yes." Ping answered angrily. "But she doesn’t know. She doesn’t know that her master is her father."
Suddenly, Feng burst into the room, panic written all over her face. "Mother! Dahai has been arrested for leading a strike!"
Ping’s face went pale. "What? Where is he?"
"At the factory gate! The police took him away!" Feng was on the verge of tears.
"This has nothing to do with you," Pu said coldly. "He incited the workers to strike. He must take the consequences."

"Consequences?" Ping shouted. "He’s your son! You’d rather destroy him than acknowledge your own child?"
Feng stared at her mother in shock. "Mother... what are you saying?"
Ping hesitated. "Honey, I wanted to keep it from you... You and Lei, you’re both Pu’s children!"
"Lei?!" Feng lost control and shouted.
At that moment, Lei came downstair. He had overheard the last few words. "What did you just say?"
"She’s your sister," Ping said firmly. "Your relationship is a mistake."
Feng shook her head. "No, that’s impossible... It can’t be true!"
She turned and ran out of the room. Ping chased after her desperately, "Feng! Don’t run! The rain is too heavy—"
Lei rushed after her. "Feng! Come back!"
Feng ran through the rain, her vision blurred by the rain and tears. Her mother’s words echoed in her mind: "You’re siblings..."
Lei finally caught sight of her figure. "Feng, stop! Listen to me!"
Feng stopped, despair filling her eyes. "Listen to what? That our love is nothing but a joke?"
Lei reached her and grabbed her arm. "Feng, no matter what we are, my feelings for you are real! That has never changed!"
"But it’s too late..." Feng’s voice shaked. "This love will only bring us more pain."
Lei tried to say something, but at that moment, a flash of lightning split the sky. Feng pulled away from his grip and stepped backward. Suddenly, her foot slipped, and she fell.
"No!" Lei stepped forward, but it was too late. Feng fell to the ground just as the lightning struck. A blinding flash lit up the sky.

Inside the house, Ping collapsed to the floor as a scream pierced the night. "This is karma... It’s karma!"
Pu stood by the window, his voice was faint. "Her blood... is not my sin..."
On this stormy night, all secrets were laid barely, and all love was destroyed. The thunder rolled and then faded away, leaving behind an endless tragedy of two generation.
