You know some anti-JC stuff I'm like. Okay I disagree with you but at the very least I can understand how you would get to that point. JC mistreats WWX? Like, you're wrong, but a (very) selective/biased reading of the text makes it *possible*. JC abuses JL? Again, you're wrong, but a specific reading of and ignoring the cultural context of the text makes it *possible*. JC is a bad sect leader? Like, again, biased reading of the text, but.... sure. Whatever.

Some things though, I'm like. Literally what are you talking about. "JC forced JYL to marry JZX" it is an entire plot point that he did not do that. The book tells you the exact opposite.

"JC didn't rebuild Lotus Pier/the Jiangs" okay so who did? Because you understand the whole clan was gone, right? It was him, WWX who was getting drunk off his ass then dying, Jiang Yanli who eventually married out and also died, and a husk of Lotus Pier which had still been damaged and altered by the war. They had.... a few buildings? What the fuck else do you call what he did than rebuilding?

"JC never protected WWX" it is an entire plot point that he lost his core doing that. That is a thing the book tells you. He covers WWX with his body against his own mother and Zidian during the siege on Lotus Pier.

Yanli

Honestly she fits so well with Zoey!! Let Yanli be silly and goofy agenda!

Her weapons are meant to evoke the Chinese round fans, except in a bladed louts shape; this is also inspired by the concept art, since Zoey's weapon being a fan was an idea

Her outfit is based off an actual outfit I saw on a kpop idol, with the crossed belts and skirt over trousers look. Overall her outfit looks the least suited for battle at a glace with the skirt and the detached sleeves; however, her boots are the most practical

All of them have a lotus accessory - Yanli's is her earrings

Wuxian

His weapon is obviously Suibian, although I like to think he does play the flute in a plot-irrelevant way

Long Ponytail.

His lotus accessory is one of his necklaces - the other necklace is the Tiger Amulet

All of them have the same shade of light purple in their design. His is the most important in design-wise, as it's also the only purple - separating him from the others. It's also his jacket, which is removable, but covers his patterns.

Zidian! Also inspired by Zoey's concept art! I meant to style it like a jie bian, or, a nine-section whip, but that was too difficult. So. It is in my heart okay.

Wuxian would be the charismatic quick-witted goof; Yanli would be the sweet older sister; Wanyin would be the tsundere but also the "sexy one"

The Saja Boys would be the same except Jinu would be Wangji; the rest don't even have names so placing other characters in seems unnecessary

I am calling them all by their courtesy names for simplicity's sake - except Lan Zhan would have both a courtesy and birth name since he's old

The Sunlight Sisters would be Cangse Sanren, Madame Lan, and Madame Jin - except with names

Obviously Yanli and Wanyin would be siblings still, but they'd maybe have a plotline of divorced parents and separated childhoods? Maybe Yanli grows up in America?

Wuxian would be Rumi but with Madame Lan

Lan Zhan would have abandoned Xichen and his son Lan Yuan

Prelude to this. This au will continue now, i might even turn it into a fic...maybe...

Cause my hand writing is crappy and so are my dialogue here's basically what's happening:

Jiang Cheng wants WWX to go back to Lotus Pier, but isn't willing to risk upseting the other sects (especially the Jins) by protecting the Wen renmants, he's still rebuilding and doesn't think the Wens are worth the risk. He's also unsure how to feel about having them in Lotus Pier because of it's destruction.

Jiang Yanli argues that if the other sects are the problem she can help. Jin Guanshang is old and Madam Jin wont mind (helping) (she's planing murder so Jin Zixuan becomes the new sect leader). And that if they show that the Wens are just harmless refugees the Nie and the Lan won't care to retaliate cause they are also recuperating from the war. The Yin Tiger Seal is a problem cause it's a really dangerous weapon and everyone wants it so the best option is to destroy it, the Lan would agree, and with JZX in power so would the Jin and the Jiang, the Nie probably would too but even if they didn't they would be outvoted. The main reason why WWX hasn't destroyed yet it's cause it's his bargaining chip against the other sects threats (that thing is basically a nuclear weapon) therefore making a multilateral treaty of protection is the fair option (where the sects promise to not attack the Wen in exchange for the destruction of the seal, to not attack each other while they're are rebuilding(that one probably already existed) and if one is attacked the others gotta protect them) That way WWX would have no reason to keep the seal and would help destroying it, (he probably would start planing to destroy it once he was sure he had the protection of the Jin and the Jiang.)

lowkey one of my favorite things to do is make creatures out of charactersz so here's wwx as a dragon, since it fits with yunmeng jiang so well

i didn't really think about plot with this one and just went with some world building. i imagine that until sunshot campaign nobody besides the jiang really knows about their 20 metre dragons, so wwx is just chilling, tweaking with protection wards and fishing. they still kind of raise him, but it's a bit different since he's only half-dragon, so he'd gotten a rapid childhood and went straight to early adolescence as a way for his body to make him less vulnerable. dragons usually live a long childhood where they learn everything from their parents and then live a solitary life when their parent either dies/ascends or simply cultivates to immortality away from them.

wwx cultivated a human form when he was about 23 (baby age for dragons) and spent several years away from lotus pier, in different rivers and streams before jiang fengmian got the news about cangse sanren's death and assumed the worst about wei changze, since it's often that dragons die from grief when it comes to true love. in the meanwhile, wei wuxian briefly met other dragons who guarded other waters. they all advised him on how to return to his own turf when asked for permission to stay, but were polite about it, most of them seeing a lost infant, however naturally lacking any real parental instincts.

eventually he reached lotus pier and the jiang clan was happy to have a guardian back, although not too happy when they realized his very early cultivated human form wasn't from extreme cultivation levels, but from being half-human himself. thus, another wild child running around the pier, but this one severly less managable and severly more... scaly. throughout the years when jiang cheng and jiang yanli were growing up, he changed minimally, staying fourteen/fiveteen for most of their childhood. (it was weird later, for jiang yanli, to not treat him as an older brother when she never saw him as the younger one until she was about 17)
