wen qing knows from a very young age that her life - and wen ning's - is reliant upon her usefulness. her ability is strong, but not enough so to make her invaluable, and wen ning has none. she must become twice as important to her uncle in order to make up for it.

the dafan wen family is small, and they have no abilities at all. it is only wen qing and her father that have ever shown any and it is the only reason that wen ruohan has allowed for them to live.

because, in the end, abilities must remain secret - so those with no abilities in the wen family are worse than useless, but they cannot exactly be let go, either.

she cannot bring herself to become one of his soldiers, and she'd always had an interest in medicine, so wen qing becomes one of the greatest doctors in her generation. she is called a genius.

it means little to her. not compared to the lives of her family.

A test in body types turned into me just drawing characters i like I guess.

For MDZS I did the Nie Bros then added Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli

(JYL it's tubby and no one can make me think other wise!!!)

Then I added Pei Ming and Feng Xin from TGCF cause why not.

I based Feng Xin's body type on archers. A lot of their muscle seems to be in their upper torso so he a dorito.

I like giving Pei Ming stubble cause I saw it on one peice of fanart and went 'yes'

[MDZS] Understanding in Context

Sooooo, I never thought I'd be here, but recently I started reading Montaigne and IDEK man.

The reason I decided to write this post is because I think when people read MDZS specifically in the English side of the fandom they often neglect to see the whole story in the context of ancient China. I'm not saying I'm an expert on this, so I would love to be corrected if I'm wrong, but I specifically wanted to discuss an action from Jiang Cheng.

As people know, one of the biggest betrayals he committed is not protecting Wen Qing's faction (not the word I'd use but yeah), while Wei Wuxian did. Well, I think this is often more multi-faceted than people think it is.

Think about it, the Wen family killed JC's entire sect and family, even if it wasn't WQ's branch. So no matter what, JC as one of the last surviving members and heir to the sect is morally obligated to kill them to avenge his family. Then, people often bring up the debt he should owe to Wen Ning for saving him, which is where it gets difficult and muddy. Because while *technically* he does have a debt to WN, at the same time, WN saved JC for WWX (I think so? Correct me if I'm wrong please) so WWX has more of a debt than JC? and WWX fulfilled it. Of course, JC should to an extent still owe them, but then that would directly contest the whole societal pressure/obligation for him to avenge his family.

Therefore, despite WQ's whole faction being innocent, it makes sense that JC would still choose to be hostile to them, from both personal, societal and cultural reasons (remember, he was also playing a political game the whole time that WWX wasn't).

The final argument I've seen is also that JC can easily make the whole sects spare WQ's faction by saying he owes WN a debt from saving him and ???? That is simply not true??? Just because WN saved JC DOES NOT mean that the rest of the sects should forgive them for the other atrocities that the Wen family committed in the war (ie. burning the Lan sect). All it would do is have the Jiang clan killed for good, and obviously JC CAN NOT have that happen.

Basically tldr, the situation is a lot more complicated than most people give it credit for and people need to acknowledge that.

here's a few reminders for the mxtx fandom

1. Wei Wuxian had 2 older sister figures in his life and they both died trying to save him and in the end failed since he died anyway. (RIP Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli)

2. Mu Qing only ever had his mom other than XL and FX and she died a mortal death. We don't know anything about FX's mortal family.

3. Wen Ning was experimented on for 13 years in captivity after seeing his sister's ashes and blames himself still for wwx's downfall

4. He Xuan cannot leave the world even after his revenge to Shi Wudu and is purposeless for all of his immortal life.

5. Jin Ling will never taste his mom's handmade favourite soup.

6. Canon Feng Xin and Mu Qing do not know what happened at the temple to Xie Lian.

7. Jiang Cheng will probably never be good enough in his own eyes (until he has like grand-nephews or something)

8. Shi Qingxuan will (probably) die a mortal death.

9. Some of Nie Huaisang's last words to Nie Mingjue were that he never wanted to be a clan leader.

10. XL and WWX both tried to protect a certain demographic that got wiped out anyway and made them public enemies and reason for their eventual downfall making it essentially ineffective.

11. All the calamities are actually gods who could or did ascend heaven.

12. Xiao Xingchen killed himself after finding out he wiped out villages full of innocent people and his own best friend who he gave up his eyes for. And realising his pursuit of helping the world was worthless.
