ID: 1a. Close up of Nandor's hands twisting together on his lap. He asks hesitantly, 'So...you remember now what happened at the Panera Bread?' 1b. Knees up of them both sitting on the cot, Nandor in the foreground. Guillermo blinks at his knees and admits, 'Not really, no. Colin sent me the security video. Nandor turns his head away, toward the viewer, with a pained grin, the air darkening around his head as a single embarrassed tear leaks from one eye. He thinks to himself, 'Video proof...how embarrassing...' 1c. Close up of Guillermo's hand tightening its grip on his knee, bunching up the fabric of his corduroys. He says, 'I did hurt you.' Offscreen, Nandor replies flippantly, 'I am fine, Guillermo. We have fought before, you know.' 1d. Close up on Guillermo looking stressed and haunted, eyes on the ground as he grimaces and replies 'Not like that, when I...wasn't in control. When I could have really...killed you.' Behind him, a collage of flashbacks of his feral vampire self appear in red, splattered like blood. 1e. Repeat, smaller, the background disappearing in favor of a light pink glow as Nandor's left hand pops into frame to boop Guillermo on the nose. Guillermo startles out of his self pity, eyes crossed. 1f. Zoom out to knees up of them both on the cot. Nandor is leaning close, chest pressed against Guillermo's shoulder, grinning teasingly with his booping finger held aloft. 'My little control freak,' he states fondly with a pink heart. Guillermo leans away and tucks his arms to his chest, embarrassed and flustered by the contact. He replies, 'Wh- it's not that! Shut up!' Nandor chirps, 'See, very charming this time!'

2a. Chest up of Nandor from Guillermo's POV, smiling fondly as he sits back and pulls his hand down. He says, 'It is in the past, Guillermo. You would not kill me now, yes?' 2b. Chest up side by side on the cot. Guillermo leans forward intently and cries, 'Of course not!' Nandor drops his eyes shyly, left hand twirling a lock of hair, and asks, '...Even if I am being very selfish and mean?' 2c. Chest up of Guillermo from Nandor's POV, straightening his back with confidence and a steady gaze as he replies without hesitation, 'Never.' 2d. Chest up side by side on the cot. Nandor closes his eyes decisively with a smile, flipping his hand out palm up in a dismissive gesture as he says, 'Then we will forget it.' Guillermo smiles up at him with affection, relief relaxing his shoulders. 2e. Repeat, larger. Guillermo hunches his shoulders shyly and ducks his head, looking back toward an empty corner of the cage with a nervous smile as he asks, 'But not...all of it, right?' Nandor's eyes fly open in shock, mouth snapping shut and hand freezing mid-air, a purple flush crawling up his cheeks as he stares down at Guillermo. Behind him, a blue-tinted memory of their kiss floats back up. /end ID

Like when someone mentions a place you went as a child and the memory of it suddenly comes flooding back… or you catch a scent while walking that teleports you back to age five. Ah the uniquely painful experience of loving someone who’s determined to destroy themself

Ugh Deu having to watch as Ace takes on more challenges than he can handle out of nothing more than to spite the world. Knowing WHY he does it and that he can’t stop him. Having been in a similar state when he himself first set out, taking on more than he could chew just to prove to himself and the rest of the world that he could, and getting set free from that by finding a bigger purpose (a guide, a leader, a friend) in Ace but knowing that he can’t be Ace’s purpose in return is-

I may think about them a lot.

But also the sheer joy on his face and his willingness to depart with the Spade title once he sees Ace finding that purpose in Whitebeard makes me so incredibly happy. He knew before Ace did that Ace would choose to stay on that crew, and he gave him permission to do so before Ace even asked. I love them your honor I love them.

(And the best part is it can be completely platonic and doesn’t change the dynamic whatsoever. Like yes, even my aroace ass is certain that by the way he’s written Deu is canonically in love with Ace, and they’re also friends. They are friends and they love each other so much, and no matter what you ship or don’t ship it’s the same and it’s amazing.)
