I am a thin person. I am a VERY thin person, and this is a privilege. However, I really want to talk about how things like fatphobia and toxic body positivity intersect with thinness.

I was born underweight. I stayed underweight for my whole childhood, despite my parents' best (and worst) efforts. My childhood was filled with adults telling me to stay thin, to pray I never gained weight, that I'd grow up to be a model, and ofc because I was a kid, I ate it up.

All that praise and attention didn't stop me from being harassed for my weight though. Strangers lifting me into the air without consent, friends ignoring my protests as they do the same, people I love constantly telling me that they hate themselves because they don't look like me.

What they refuse to hear is that I grew up sick. I would throw up anytime we ate out somewhere, if my mom made a new recipe, or sometimes just because. I grew up (and still am) in constant pain because I have never intaken the proper nutrients to keep up my health. My bones ache, I cannot build muscle, and I have nearly no stamina. My life is hell because of my weight, and there are no articles online or weight gain pills, or special excercise regiments to put on fat.

The only solution to malnourishment is nourishment. I have been to so many doctors over the years who cannot definitively diagnose my disordered eating as any particular thing, so I have never received professional help either.

I'm well aware that most weight loss resources are harmful, but that's part of my point. Due to my experiences, I genuinely believe to be thin is to be unhealthy. I am desperate to turn around the narrative that fat is unhealthy because I have spent my whole life begging god or the universe to fix me and let me put on 150 lbs.

If this is a damaging post to any plus sized folks, please let me know and I'll take it down. I just wanted to rant about my perspective on fatphobia.
