The City That Paused Her Storm
2024 had been a year of extremes for Meera—moments of joy followed by storms of chaos, testing her resilience like never before. It was as if the universe had decided to put her through a cosmic audit, scrubbing away the toxicities in her life. She had read somewhere that Shani Dev’s way of blessing was to first throw you into the fire, then drench you in unconditional grace. Well, if this was the fire, Meera was sizzling.
The year started on a high—a string of travel plans and professional triumphs. She traveled with her close friend's group, nailed two incredible trips, and dreamed of ticking off destinations. But then came the tumble. A big-budget project slipped away, and her manager was replaced, throwing her into a workplace purgatory filled with politics and a team that revealed its ugliest sides. Trust became the ultimate scam.
And just when she thought it couldn’t get worse, it did. Her personal life mirrored the mess. A "hotelier" who seemed too good to be true turned out to be just that—a walking life lesson in why actions speak louder than words. Amidst it all, her saving grace was Aishoo, her consultant-turned-sister. What started as professional camaraderie blossomed into an unshakable bond. Aishoo became her anchor, helping her stay sane as the world around her crumbled.
One weekend, the chaos peaked. Meera decided to escape—just for a day or two. No planning, no overthinking. She booked a flight to Bengaluru, a city she’d adored from afar. For once, she let destiny take the reins.
But drama seemed to follow Meera like a shadow. Her flight was delayed, and she found herself sprinting from one terminal gate to another. At security, she endured the usual awkwardness of being patted down a bit too thoroughly—a recurring indignity she chalked up to sheer bad luck. By the time she landed in Bengaluru, she was ready to cry and laugh simultaneously.
Bengaluru embraced her like a long-lost friend. The city felt familiar, yet new. Her stay at the Hyatt was a splurge—a gift to herself, and perhaps an assurance of comfort in this uncharted solo adventure. It was her first time traveling alone, and every step felt like walking a tightrope over her fears.
On her first day, she met Yash—a friend she’d known only through texts and the one call. Seeing him in person felt surreal. He greeted her with genuine warmth, and his easy charm soothed her nerves. He introduced her to Bengaluru’s quirks: Rapido rides for quick and cost-effective ways, Uber Go with no AC (a revelation that left her speechless during her travel to the hotel from the airport), and the joy of exploring places. Their day was punctuated with messy streets, deep conversations, and a memorable Kerala dinner at one of his favorite spots.
The second day brought her back to reality. Meetings, mall visits, and quiet meals filled her schedule. Sitting by her hotel window during lunch, she observed the streets below. Bengaluru was a city of contrasts: chaotic traffic on one side and serene cultural vibes on the other. As she watched life unfold, loneliness crept in. Tears followed—silent, unrelenting. It wasn’t just the city’s beauty that moved her; it was the weight of months of disappointments and betrayals that finally broke through her defenses.
That evening, she reflected on the lessons life had been throwing at her. People who truly cared made the effort, while others simply faded away. She thought about the hotelier’s words: “A boy for his girl will do anything. For the rest, it’s just casual.” She realized she’d been chasing people who didn’t deserve her energy. Those who mattered—Aishoo, Anwesha, Krishna—stayed effortlessly.
Her final day in Bengaluru was a comedy of errors. A ticket booked for the wrong date, a missing Aadhaar card, and a frantic argument with airport security over the absence of a surname. Chaos unfolded like a scene straight out of a soap opera. But in the end, she managed. Sitting at the gate with idli and filter coffee, she chuckled at her dramatic life.
The lessons she learned from these situations is to double-check details instead of blindly trusting others. Panic never solved problems—calm thinking did. Overpacking was pointless and made life harder. And perhaps most importantly, dating apps weren’t a solution; they were often a cesspool of disrespectful men. Genuine connections came from real-life encounters, not endless swipes.
As her flight soared into the sky, Meera gazed out of the window. Bengaluru had been more than a getaway—it was a revelation. A city that taught her to let go, trust timing, and embrace life’s messiness.
"In chaos, there is clarity. In endings, beginnings. Sometimes, the city you escape to becomes the home of your peace."

ok but what if we got a scene of Sophie telling someone she could feel herself cracking
she'd witnessed too much violence
maybe she's had less of a problem attacking people
maybe she's killed someone (Gisela?)
she can feel the cracks in her mind

As someone who also lives under a rock (does not watch anime), if I don’t recognize the ship going against Reylo, I simply Do Not Vote. I still want Reylo to lose across the board, but I’m leaving it in the hands of each fandom to take that strike against them.

each of the batkids is New York vibes in a different way
look I know Gotham is closer to NJ but hear me out
Dick— Welcome To New York (Taylor Swift)
Babs— Morning In America (Jon Bellion)
Jason— HEROES (Macklemore)
Cass— That’s My Girl (Fifth Harmony)
Tim— American Boy (Estelle)
Steph— Boo York, Boo York (Monster High)
Duke— Empire State of Mind (JAY-Z)
Damian— Dancing In the Dark (Rihanna)
Dick Grayson is NY in a Welcome To New York way. Gotham, Blüdhaven, Jersey, it’s all the same— dark, rainy, a little bit evil at times. And yet he sees the beauty of it all, and he truly loves his city. No matter how many times life kicks his ass, he’ll get back up and keep protecting this place he loves so much.
Barbara Gordon is New York in a Morning In America way. God, she’s busy, she’s always busy, but it’s where she’s happiest. Being a cop, a librarian, a professional Guy In The Chair™️ for an entire family of vigilantes, shit gets crazy. But she’s got it covered. She always does.
Jason Todd is New York in a HEROES way. He grew up in the Narrows and Crime Alley. Superman who? How about Roman Sionis, who let people sit in his club during the daytime in the winter when the streets got too cold? What about the older kids, who smoked weed that smelled like shit but taught him how to make money off of dumb rich white people? Those are Jason’s people. He’s an NY boy through and through.
Cassandra Cain is NY in a That’s My Girl way. Ever jumped off a building with the sound of pure feminism blasting into your brain, wind and the sheer energy of Gotham City whipping by, tearing at your hair and clothes? Cass has. She lives for it. The city is alive, and it sounds like this.
Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne is New York in an American Boy way. Clean-cut, city boy, businessman who always has places to be and people to see. Busy. Alive. If the livelihood of New York could be filtered into a personality, it would be Tim.
Stephanie Brown is NY in a Boo York, Boo York way. Maybe a hint childish, but hey, maybe that’s what the people of Gotham need. The whole vigilante gig has turned her from a critical pessimist to a die-hard optimist, and she feels sometimes that other people just need to feel the city more. It’s changed her. It’s freedom. Freedom to be a kid again.
Duke Thomas is NY in an Empire State of Mind way. Even after all these years, he still hasn’t quite gotten used to the majesty of such a big city. She’s real, and she’s alive. He sort of loves being a city kid.
Damian Wayne is New York in a Dancing In the Dark way. It just… makes his soul happy. After living in solitude for most of his childhood, coming to a city like Gotham was like nothing he’d even fathomed before. He’s never alone, if only in spirit. It’s healing. And while he won’t gush about it like some of his siblings, he does love his city.

Lin was the one who got Mako out.
Not that he dared to leave or in the moment even WANTED to leave
But Bolin showed up at the police station one day when Mako was on a job BEGGING for help. He knew something was wrong, he wasn’t stupid. He just didn’t know the whole situation.
Lin took a personal interest and helped to essentially kidnapped Mako away from the Triple Threats. Mako hated Bolin for it at first but also he was just TERRIFIED. That they’d come back for him. Or for Bolin.
Lin tried to be involved in their lives but Mako pretty much told her to fuck off and the rest is history
