Here’s some positivity for those with imagination-based plurality!

Even within different kinds of plurality, individual experiences can be amazingly diverse! Those with imagination-based plurality deserve to be celebrated and understood within the plural community. This post is for every system with imagination-based plurality, and to those whose plurality played a role in their system’s or headmate’s creations!

🌙 Shoutout to disordered systems whose plurality was caused or influenced by maladaptive daydreaming, a harmfully overactive imagination, or some other maladaptive, imagination-based coping skill!

Imaginations can play a vital role in a system’s functioning, and this is especially true for those whose plurality was formed through their imaginations! The imagination can be a powerful tool that can aid in or even guide the process of creating systems and headmates.

Imagination-based systems have always been and will always be a crucial and cherished part of the plural community! I’m undiagnosed AuDHD (Autism + ADHD), ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), APD (Auditory Processing Disorder), SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), and Pure O OCD (“Purely Obsessional” Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), medically recognized (but undiagnosed) PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder), and diagnosed MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder).

I’m also undiagnosed BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder), Trichotillomania (hair pulling/picking disorder), Excoriation Disorder (skin picking disorder), and Misophonia.

I’m undiagnosed PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and/or PME (Premenstrual Exacerbation), and hopefully soon can be diagnosed.

Questioning POTS, HSD or EDS/hEDS. (NOT claiming to have this or self-diagnosed as of yet, I am still doing research, but I do have lots of signs that point to these things.)

My special interests are Wings Of Fire, Harry Potter, Dragons in general, and Neurodivergency.

I have no current hyperfixations that I’ve noticed, and I’m extremely low on dopamine because of it. /silly /srs

I have verbal shutdowns, shutdowns and meltdowns in general, I mask without realizing it a lot, and I’m usually in burnout. I also have severe imposter syndrome that I deal with literally 24/7.

I used to cope by using maladaptive daydreaming, so I relate a lot to maladaptive daydreamers a lot.

I struggle with violent and horrible intrusive thoughts (due to my OCD) and have for years now since I was a kid.

I have lots of trauma, both remembered and not remembered, so beware.

I’m a SI and SH survivor and in recovery.

All of my Nonhumanity is due to a combination of Past Lives, Fate, and Neurodivergency. I believe I was all my ‘types in past lives, and only found out about it in this life due to my neurodivergency.

I’ve been awakened for only a few months now. I want gear, but I don’t have any right now. I’m making my own wings currently, and I hope to have them done soon if my ADHD brain will allow me.

I’ve known about reality shifting since around 2020 or 2021, and started my journey then.

I spent a lot of my time trying to shift, even though I didn’t have the proper mindset or knowledge to shift.

I took a huge break after trying for only a month or so, only trying to shift occasionally.

I’ve come back to it in 2024 after finding shiftblr, having more knowledge, a better mindset, and more motivation.

I’ve shifted once to a parallel reality, where I relived/redid a day.

I have way too many DRs to count, and I’m thinking about permashifting to my Better CR DR.

•even when they don't get alot of sleep they almost never get dark circles

•every kid has their own special pillow and they can only fall asleep with THAT ONE

•they could either fall asleep anywhere or only in their bed

•Most of the chthonic demigods are all prone to fainting/autoimmune disorders

•alot of them have Narcolepsy

•always have noise canceling headphones or earplugs with them

•they make sleep playlists for campers who have trouble sleeping without noise

•they all have one song that helps them fall asleep when they can't seem to

•helps the younger kids feel more comfortable when they arive (i.e. helping them make their bed space feel personal to them with blankets and trinkets)

•host movie nights with the other chthonic campers

• ^^ the cabins take turns picking out which movie and the others bring the snacks and blankets/pillows and games

•each has their very unique style, they all just want to be comfy

So I'm mostly transrussian because I am russian in source. I don't have much dysphoria over it but we collectively don't experience a lot of dyphoria over anything. I'm not really sure how to explain it more than that tbh. My source is our maladaptive daydreams. I'm a mix from a few characters we really loved like russia (and USSR) from countryhumans, thats where it came from. (there are more but they arent russian)

I hope this makes somewhat sense, if not feel free to ask more, I don't mind. :)

taylor’s i can see you is sooo spence x bau reader or famous reader coded and i love it, it’s one of my current maladaptive daydream songs. like them tryna sneak round and hide their relationship or the first time singer gf sees reid and instantly falls for him (bc who wouldn’t??) and they share little secret glances at each other all night and whatnot and she thinks to herself how she could see them fooling around and everything so she writes a song bout it. or also unit chief spence x reader!!!! or professor spence x student reader!! basically anything where they have to hide their relationship for a while lmao, i just really love the idea of sneaking around with reid (especially if it’s a bit naughty🤭)

imma try to explain some main points/ lyrics that really made me think of this lmao pls bare with me bc it might be long😭

“That I could see you throw your jacket on the floor/ I could see you, make me want you even more”: really makes me think of unit chief or professor reid, like them fooling around in his office🤭🤭

“I can see you in your suit and your necktie/Passed me a note sayin’, "Meet me tonight"/ Then we kiss and you know I won't ever tell, yeah/ And I could see you being my addiction/ You can see me as a secret mission”: also def more unit chief/ professor reid, “secret mission” also just reminds me of the bau lol

“But what would you do if I went to touch you now?/ What would you do if they never found us out?/ What would you do if we never made a sound?”: makes me think of reader making the first move and trying to get persuade/ seduce spence🤭

thoughts on a singlet(?) whose emotions/emotional states have distinct genders & vaguely-kinda-mostly chose human names for themselves?

these names/genders are consistent and distinct, and may have several of them ‘covering’ different aspects of the same emotion, or may have one covering different (but related) emotions. they’re not truly autonomous, don’t talk/communicate with me, aren’t present all (or even most) of the time, and don’t do things that surprise me. the most unexpected they get is when they suddenly change and my gender shifts suddenly & i’m comfy/prefer a different name

Hm, well, first thoughts are that plurality and singlecy are both spectrums, ones that don't exactly have a clearly defined boundary, and it sounds like you are somewhere in that grey area.

You may find the term parasian helpful - a term that refers to median systems who are towards the singlet end of the plural spectrum.

You may look into servitors, something I believe even singlets can commonly have, iwrc.

You may also want to examine the diagnosis of Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder and corresponding nondisordered neurodivergence of Immersive Daydreaming to see if these may actually be paras, as our understanding is that paras tend to not have the autonomy that headmates do, with the exceptions of paratives/paragenic systems.

It is also possible that you could be a singlet experiencing something akin to IFS naturally, have a desire to use multiple names due to gender or alterhuman reasons - and may even experience your emotions as compartmentalized in this way for alterhuman reasons as well. (Alterhuman encompasses plurality as well, but is a wider umbrella label, and you may fall elsewhere under it.)

The label pluralflux may also be somewhat meaningful.

Plural nonsystem especially stands out to us from your description, as it can include non-autonomous parts or even states - the wiki entry specifically says states as in BPD, but my experience with BPD even outside of plurality sounds like it may simply be the disordered version of what you may experience in a nondisordered way (or possibly disordered as well, I can't tell from the ask).

Some further thoughts that may be helpful: You could easily label yourself plural or singlet according to what is the most helpful framework for conceptualizing your own consciousness(es).

Do you have any desire to be plural? Would you (a) like these parts of you to be more separate, have more autonomy, and be responsive? Would you (b) prefer they be more integrated with less autonomy? Are you (c) perfectly happy existing as you are now?

If the answer is a, you may want to look into tulpa/willogenic creation guides. If b, IFS may still help, as might looking into fusion. If c, you're golden, just try to balance your desire for a label with the time it takes to find one that settles comfortably on you.

Remember that labels are just to help us best understand ourselves. There's no getting it wrong. If a label fits or seems to fit for a time and then is no longer useful, it still helped us for that period, and we can Marie Kondo it and thank it for its service to us before discarding it. Going into a label knowing it may not be permanent - like a relationship, that it may be a fling or lifelong, can be helpful in being gentle and patient with ourselves as we figure it out.

Hello there, fellow sufferer of brain rot! 😋

🎃 pumpkin: do you have any favorite brainstorming techniques? how do you like to gather ideas for your wip?

Ohhh, that's a tough one! In summary, you could call it ‘It came to me in a dream’. I have a strong tendency towards maladaptive daydreaming and have been making up little fake scenarios since I was a child, which I then watch in my head before falling asleep. (Yes, I am mentally ill 😅) At some point, I started writing these fake scenarios down and since they were mostly about my fictional or celebrity crushes, that's how I got into writing fanfiction in the first place. Nowadays, my basic ideas for stories still arise from this, and then I sit down and approach the whole thing ‘professionally’. First of all, I create a brain dump, which includes everything that's in my head. In the next step, I sort it chronologically, as it would make sense in a plot. And then I stuff the whole thing into an Idea to Outline form. (I downloaded it from Abbie Emmons when it was still free and I think it's really good; I used it to put together Dealings with Daedra: Boethiah's Wrath. And then it's on to chapter plotting, where what I've accumulated in the form is meticulously broken down. Then, finally, I start writing! 😁 I used to be an absolute pancer and that's why I've abandoned several fics. I just can't handle a lone vibe well, I have to structure and plot the whole thing so that I don't end up at a dead end. Another great source of inspiration for ideas is music – I can always use it to capture a vibe. Sometimes ideas just come to me when I listen to lyrics. And then comes the fear of plagiarising 😂

🍂 leaves: what does your editing process look like? how does your wip typically change as you work on it?

Okay, don't do, what I do. I tend to edit while writing and it makes the whole process so damn slow! I just can't resist to change things up as soon as I have to re-read to get back into the story. Terrible habit, actually. When the chapter is done, my boyfriend is forced to read it. He does not do it with everything tho - pure smut (and toxic shit) ist not his thing and I do not want to put that on him. Also, he often says he can't help with that, because he has no idea about smut. (My argument that the scene structure is like every other scene did not help tho 🙃) As soon as he has read it and made his comments on it, I'll edit those. Then I transfer the text to my ipad and read it on there - pro tip btw! Change the screen and you'll find mistakes easier! After that round of editing comes the last step: I have my writing programme read it to me. I am very blind for mistakes and hearing that something is off helps a lot! And still, there will be mistakes in my text afterwards - usually I find them as soon as the chapter is uploaded... 🫠

🌙 moon: do any of your OCs have dark backstories or secrets they’re trying to keep?

Eve, I have to spoil you for that info!!! Yes, Nevri has a dark backstory and secrets she tries to keep. As you would expect from Boethiah's Champion. In DwD: Boethiah's Wrath she reveals it in chapter 19: The killing of a Nord. I'll leave it vague here but uhm... As we all know, one has to sacrifice someone to become a part of Boethiah's cult. And who that was and the reasons behind that, that's something he rather tries to keep hidden. And for DwD: The Curse of Molag Bal it's basically the main plot that she has to keep a secret and that brings a whole lot of trouble to her. Not gonna say more of this, because spoilers and so on 😁
