Trying to write a Hermitcraft season 9 fic about Grian is really hard when you’re trying to be accurate to the timeline of events. The timeline of events is part of where the original idea came from, so it’s important, but trying to figure out timing of things is so difficult. Like I’m struggling to get the pacing of the story down cause I only need certain events.
For example, the crossover is a huge part of the story, but I only need two-three events from it. This makes me feel like I'm skipping around too much since I don't feel I should recap the entirety of the crossover, seeing as nothing besides the events changes.
Grian’s minimal uploads don't help with the feeling that I'm skipping around too much since I'm forced to do so to keep an accurate timeline. There’s legitimately a 44-day gap between the end of the crossover and Grian uploading again, and that upload is just a recap of previous events.
Just ahhhhh why is writing hard

Please, for the love of all that is good, TAG YOUR FUCKING POSTS!!! If I see one more fucking post on us politics, I’m going to start @ing people and sending hate mail.
I have blocked every tag I can think of connected to politics and I am still getting this shit on my dash. Some of us come onto this hellsite (affectionate) to avoid the hellscape (extremely derogatory), not to continue to trudge through it.
So I am asking politely just this once: PLEASE TAG YOUR POSTS.

Eyyy, I got my first anti reaction on here! I feel like it's a badge of honor lol. Also this person called me a 40k tourist? Funny. I've had a Tyranid army since 4th edition, an army that's definitely over 7k points by now. But sure, just cause I think the Bros who are written with some heavy homoerotic undertones should kiss, it means I'm a tourist. Ah well, what do you expect! I'm just glad the 40k fandom as a whole has generally been more welcoming of taboo material. Which, when most of your named characters are genetically related in some way, it's bound to happen.
Anyways, if anyone here is bothered by taboo material, specifically fictional incest, feel free to block me and move on! I haven't exactly been shy about it here or over on my ao3. Do whatever you need to do, just don't be a dick about it. (also if anyone ever wants to talk to me about Fulgrim and Ferrus please shoot me an ask. They have me in a chokehold.)

You know what maybe I’m just tired and feeling the existential dread of growing up, but actually my small, petty hill to die on is that I don’t think I will ever forgive Disney for abandoning the fairies franchise. I cannot even properly express what those movies were to me as a kid. They very well may have been my first hyperfixation. But come on beyond the sentimental value, those movies:
Encouraged kids to take an interest in nature and be nice to plants and animals.
Depicted a (mostly female) friend group that spent virtually every scene they had together onscreen building each other up and supporting each other.
Featured a female lead who is essentially a mechanical engineer, and is not treated as any less magical or important for it than her friends who can magically make flowers grow or bend light (except for the first movie wherein her feeling less magical and important is the central conflict).
Gave said female lead a “love interest,” I say in quotations because while they are definitely implied to have romantic feelings for each other, he is never called anything other than her best friend and the two of them ending up together is never treated as an urgent priority. Their friendship is incredibly important to both of them, but no one acts like it’s a problem that they’re just friends for now.
Redeemed the mean girl pretty damn successfully (in my opinion), Vidia never apologizes for most of her actions onscreen, but she does realize when she’s gone too far and makes an effort to fix her mistakes, and from that point on she is integrated into the friend group who, as I mentioned before, spend 90% of their screen time uplifting each other.
In The Lost Treasure, let Tink’s temper have consequences, a good lesson for kids in not taking their friends for granted and treating them kindly, but also teaching respect for boundaries and personal space through Terrence’s end.
In Secret of the Wings, demonstrated that sometimes rules are there for safety reasons, but you can try to think of a creative solution to do what you want while still keeping things safe for everyone.
In Legend of the Neverbeast (admittedly not the greatest movie in the series), depicted the fairies having to say goodbye to an animal companion permanently, something most kids will probably experience at some point.
Inspired a banger of an online game and several banger songs.
And what has Disney done with this franchise they spent 7 years on (longer if you count the books)?
Allowed a massive decline in quality on the last movie made (Legend of the Neverbeast) and then acted shocked when it didn’t do as well as the previous ones.
Cancelled all fairy projects after that.
Shut down the game in 2013.
Made a bunch of the songs from the soundtracks seemingly disappear off the face of the earth.
I know it doesn’t make the top 100 shitty things Disney has done, probably not even the top 1000, but I am still extremely salty about it, even though it’s been almost 10 years.

!!Mini Rant!!
Am I the only one whose pet peeve in the AHS fandom is people infantalizing and treating Kyle like a toddler?
I get he’s supposed to be a little mentally behind because of his botched resurrection, but from what I picked up on when watching Coven, Kyle is still completely there, he just can’t communicate and is rightfully confused after being brought from the dead with no prior knowledge of magic or witches. Like, he’s thrown back onto Earth after literally dying, is sown up with parts of his friends and is witnessing unexplainable events while also trying to cope with the fact that he died and currently can’t communicate for some unknown reason.
From what I gathered, Kyle still has his memories and personality in tact. You can see he knows who his mother is when she drags him inside the house when Zoe first drops him off. And he clearly remembers being assaulted by her before she touches him and he gets fed up with it and fights back because at that point he has no other choice. He also clearly remembers Zoe from the party when she comes back after Misty Day heals him. (Edit: after rewatching for the 50th time, there’s a clear instance where Kyle remembers his friends clearly and recognizes their tattoos on his body and freaks out even though they never told him about that. So yeah.) And after he’s fixed and regains his speech, he acts the same as Kyle before, just obviously with a newer knowledge of witches and the violence that ensues in the season. I’d say he’s a little more primal because he was still a zombie, but he’s not a child.
And it’s one thing to headcannon him that way or come to that conclusion personally, but then to write SMUT based around that idea??? Like I’ve seen so many people write fanfics of Kyle being completely oblivious to sex when he clearly knows exactly what it is. He has sex multiple times in the season and seems completely capable. And if I’m right about him still having his memories, he obviously does know.
I’m not one to kink shame, but I feel like sometimes his mental incapacities are taken too far. Especially when they are sexualized. I’m all for a submissive and needy men, but not when he’s written as a literal ipad baby. Please tell me I’m not the only one pissed off by this because I’m so tired of it 😭😭😭

A little rant because I will defend Xaden and Violet until I die.
People pissed at Xaden for training Cat…
Im gonna hold your hand while I say this. IT IS NOT THE SAME AS HIM TRAINING VIOLET. Not by a long shot.
First of all, he also trained Garrick, Liam, probably Imogen, like… it’s what he does because he is a great warrior.
They were betrothed, and if I had my niece engaged to a warrior and I was in the middle of a war, hell yeah I would ask him to train her. (Possibility)
We literally don’t know if he trained her out of the goodness of his heart, if he was told to do it, if cat asked. He probably did it because idk?? They all need to learn survival skills like combat? It doesn’t mean it was romantic. It does not change all the training scenes between Xaden and violet because it was not the same! Not even close!!!
Xaden never loved Cat🤨 my boy has only loved violet. He has said it so many times in so many ways.
(And it was a good exercise for Violet to fight with someone of equal skill and similar training and having to find a way to beat her, which she absolutely did😌.)
And Xaden trained violet because he loved her, he challenged her before that because he had a big fat crush on her, he kept her safe, then taught her how to defend herself, (he has made mistakes but training other people is not one of them omg)
Nothing Xaden has done for or with Violet can be compared to whatever that was with Cat. And Xaden didn’t turn Venin to keep violet safe… JUST FOR YALL TO ACT LIKE HIS LOVE FOR HER IS SOMEHOW TARNISHED BECAUSE HE HAS AN EX.

I think the most frustrating thing about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is that if the Pokémon Company actually allowed the devs plenty of time to refine graphics, test the game and patch glitches before release it could easily be one of the best Pokémon games out there. So far from what I’ve played, the story and writing is miles better than Sword and Shield, and the characters are so much more interesting and each given equal time in the spotlight. They already released Legends Arceus earlier this year and even though the graphics weren’t perfect the glitches were minimal and overall the game was fantastic, one of my all time favourites in fact. That game had more time to be perfected since BDSP was released in time for Black Friday/Christmas instead. If TPC actually gave a shit about their devs and the appearance of their games rather than the millions of dollars they rake in with every launch day then they would take one look at their game, think wtf no that’s not done” and then delay it. Would fans cry? Yes, because Pokémon fans will never be happy. Would the game look better if it was delayed a couple of months? Probably. Breath of the Wild was delayed two years and went on to win game of the year, and it’s sequel is following suit because the company actually cares about their games. I’m not saying a Pokémon game will ever win game of the year but if even just a little bit of care was applied from the heads of TPC then maybe we’d finally get a mainline Pokémon game with nice graphics and a brilliant storyline.

I dislike when I have to choose between different species for content creators.
Like Im indecisive and hate when I just can’t figure out a way to work all the ideas together.
Example A:
Good. Times. With. Scar.
I cannot for the life of me decide whether to make him a vex, an elf, a cat, or a red panda. And those are all different ear traits. I refuse to make him a shapeshifter for some reason. (I have no idea myself) so I can’t figure out his design.
My friend who’s working to be a content creator is also gonna be awful design wise. That person has decided that their channel persona is a dimension traveling shapeshifter. They have me make them so many Minecraft skins.

Sick and tired of people saying Fourth Wing “isn’t actually enemies to lovers”.
(Spoilers for Fourth Wing and Iron Flame)
You people are confusing enemies to lovers with hate to love.
Xaden and Violet’s parents were on opposite sides of a revolution. His father was responsible for the “death” of her brother. Her mother killed his father, not to mention was responsible for 107 scars on his back.
They have every reason to fucking despise each other, and they do for a period of time. They are enemies.
Even with the deal he made with Violet’s mother, Xaden has confessed both to Violet’s face in Iron Flame and in the bonus chapters in Fourth Wing that there were times when he did want to kill her and had strongly considered it, despite the deal.
Violet hated (and even sometimes feared) Xaden for his father’s crimes and the role she thought he played in the death of her brother.
They were enemies.
They are now lovers.
That makes them enemies to lovers.

Chan is NOT a dominant daddy type I'm telling you all. He is a switch and a soft dom at most and I will die on that hill. He's so sweet and caring and worries so much he could literally never be mean. You never see him mad even likee...and he'd definitely have a good amount of submissive moments cause like-he never gets the chance to be taken care of. He's the leader, he's always gotta be strong and put together. You better believe he needs those moments for someone to just take care of him, let him slip into subspace, take control for him. He'd love that shit

So I've been playing the update for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with the Blueberry Academy and some of the pokemon within the game have been giving me thoughts.
So we know that hisuian specific pokemon are supposed to be extinct. that was a whole thing yet you can find hisuian variants of pokemon within the terrarium of the BB academy. How would they be extinct if you can still find them?
So there's two types of extinct, there's extinct in the way you usually think of it where an animal or plant just no longer exists at all. There's no going back and in the pokemon world the only way to sort of get them back is through fossil restoration.
But there's also another type of extinct that is called "functional extinction." This is where the animals, or in this case pokemon, cannot contribute to the ecosystem due to population decrease or disruption in the gene flow.
My theory is that Hisuian pokemon are functionally extinct. In talking to Perrin she has a hisuian growlith and is looking for an ursaluna, but besides this very old Ursaluna you never actually see hisuian pokemon in the wild wild. The terrarium of BB academy is not the wilderness and they are not found anywhere in the wild in BD and SP either. This suggests that while still around they cannot survive in the wild alone anymore and instead those that remain are all in the care of humans in some shape or form. (I am not counting raid battles, those are more event type things and I do not think they should count)
Likely the clans of hisui are still around in some way, be it combined, split, or otherwise they likely are the ones that care for these hisuian pokemon most because something has changed drastically in the enviroment that makes it hostile to the continued survival of them.
For pokemon like oh, hisuian sneasle and sneasler that was likely the introduction of jotoan sneasle and wevile out competing their solitary counterparts. Same with a vast majority of the hisuan pokemon. They were likely out competed.
Now with pokemon such as wyrdeer and kleavor who have more specific evolutions you can likely find hisuian stantler and syther in the wild present day, but the methods of their evolution have been disturpted. Now Stantler needs to know physheild bash, master it, and use it agile style again and again to evolve. You could argue that with the loss of agile and strong style battle that explains why they can't evolve.
Except you can find fully evolved Wyrdeer in the wild in legends arceus. This suggests there was some other thing that was also disrupted in the enviroment that made it so they couldn't evolve. This could be a lack of specific nutrients, migratory paths disrupted, or any other number of things. While kleavor needs a specific ore. With a finite resource that likely wound up being over mined leaving little to none left.
Long story short it kind of bothered me that hisuian pokemon were considered extinct yet in later games you can still get them. But with what I've seen thus far it actually makes a lot of sense if rather than being extinct extinct they are instead functionally extinct. Thus have the capability to return to the wild down the line with extensive conservation efforts.
