i have to say it.
what is maddie’s purpose here? i could care less about her growing relationship with caitlyn, but what are her plans? who is she in caitlyn’s life and where does she stand? where did she even come from? i am trying to piece every single dot i can connect it with for the sake of the narrative, and i know that caitlyn’s canonically a baddie but this love interest is thrown out of nowhere for me.

oh my god. still shivering the fuck out with season 2’s episode 04. my thoughts will be all over the place because as soon as the episode ended, i just leaped out of my seat and jumped around.
jinx, who surprisingly was the root of all the chaos in the first season, really turned out to be everyone’s big fat hero in these tough times. jinx finally understood what it’s like to care for someone under danger and it’s fulfilling to see it come to a full circle.
jinx, who was once craving for her bigger sister’s presence, who made sure vi would get the same pain she had endured without her—even tripled to what she had felt—is now filling the same shoes for isha.
jinx, who was an outcast her whole life when she used to be powder, saw a reflection of who she once was in isha’s eyes as she looks up to her; the same way she once did towards vi. best believe i almost teared up when she tried to comfort isha after being jailed and ended up crying, too.
to jinx, who finally found an environment that doesn’t spite her in her perspective—the comfort that immediately radiated in her eyes when everybody held her; after walking on eggshells for so long, only knowing hate for so long. it’s no wonder why jinx didn’t want to take on the mantle of being the zaun’s symbol; this wasn’t what she was made for.
but because she’s jinx, not silco; her own person, she’ll get to write her own story on how she’ll be their hero.
jinx must’ve understood by now why vi was so angry at her when she came along. she could’ve died.... like isha.
see, the thing about arcane is that you don’t have root for all the people, you don’t have to like them either, but you can understand them. i love how they wrote jinx’s character in the story so far. we’ve already seen the ‘unhinged’ side of jinx she’s mostly known for, now we’re seeing who she once was and who she is today; making her character more human and more complex.
and lastly... to jinx, who thought she buried every single memory that powder left behind which is why we no longer see the same actions she used to do in the first season, is now haunting her from the dead as vander recognizes her despite the puppetry. it’s amazing.

i cannot really take the second act of the arcane seriously when all vi and jinx have done after meeting each other again since the tea party and the hunt in zaun was fight like little kids when it was advertised like it’s a blood battle all the time

can we also talk about the fact that ‘jinx is surprisingly the sane one out of all the characters’ is actually surprising and really clever?
(i know i’ve said this before, i babbled as soon as i can after i finished the fourth episode! but...) all powder ever truly wanted was for someone to appreciate her.
no, not like silco. silco raised her, silco taught her many things that she wouldn’t be able to survive today thanks to it, but like isha.
we’ve seen how scared and prepared she looked when someone from the jinxers was reaching out to hold her by her shoulders, but that fear was immediately washed away when it turns out that it was an appreciation for her because she ‘saved’ them.
that fear was immediately washed away when she has come to realize that isha appreciates her chaos. that is all powder—who is now known as jinx—ever needed.
thanks to isha, jinx has also come to terms with the things that happened between her and vi. jinx spent a lot of time reflecting on what she and vi could’ve done before and now doing it with isha.

jinx doesn’t look at powder anymore as if she was a vulnerable moment she wishes she could bury. jinx now knows what it’s like to be loved, and as soon as she did, one of the things she did was to acknowledge herself and open up to the people who cares for her.

wait, i think i remember a post here stating that vi calling jinx ‘delusional’ is leaving a bad taste in their mouth and it is very wrong on so many levels, i had to take a moment to talk about it.
i do understand where they’re coming from and i fully acknowledge the reason. however, when did these characters ever did something right from what we’ve seen?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oof.
vi calling jinx “delusional” while also being oblivious about jinx’s obvious signs of schizophrenia, bpd, and ptsd is the whole point during that argument. ever since the night where they tried to save vander, they stopped seeing each other from eye to eye.
it’s not because vi finally stopped giving a fuck about jinx or she never really cared in the first place for her little sister, but given the fact that this moment in season two only took a couple of months since they met again in season one, vi was still clinging to the memory of her sister that she was used to — to powder. we are put in this perspective that every disaster that happened thanks to jinx is a mess in our eyes, and vi had to accept that in the worst way; with many people unfortunately being involved to jinx’s emotional response.
but it is also why jinx’s response would also leave you speechless, not just vi. jinx had to snap vi’s senses that she’s not the only one who has flaws.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
both of them had their own bad upbringing, with vi trying to mend it on season one and now jinx is trying to mend it in season two.
that despite the big walls, the sisters were still trying to understand each other.

like i have so many thoughts, especially for caitlyn’s fight against ambessa: a.) at some point, we will find her sitting down in this fight with a hand of hers on the side of her stomach, and b.) do you guys understand how scary it must be for a sniper to possibly lose an eye? it’s either one way or the other for caitlyn to get used to, but can you imagine the emotional damage it can do to her? c.) Major Character Death. that’s it. i hope not though 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
HOW ARE THINGS GOING TO END FOR THE BOTH OF THEM I AM SO SCARED

concluded the second act today. chills, literal chills.
personally, i love the fact that what we saw in the trailers are also what we saw in the show. i know how tough it must’ve been for vi to completely crash out and hallucinate caitlyn in between due to her poor state because she’s deeply heartbroken about what happened, but that’s all there was to see. only compiled in a montage. i wouldn’t be able to stomach seeing her suffer further. (lesbians had enough of that same concept in their mediums over and over again.)
if we’re going to dive into caitvi’s relationship dynamic after the new act, it is clear now that caitlyn never moved forward—caitlyn only pushed what could possibly hinder her to focus on her vengeance—her love for vi. aside from the continuous implications how far would all the parental figures go for their children in arcane; with vi, she is able to feel. she can put her feet down. her weakness in ambessa’s eyes, but her path to vulnerability for the viewers. it didn’t take that long for caitlyn to open herself up and understand vi the moment they met again.
where does maddie lie in between this? it has been brought to my attention that how they brought maddie into the narrative is also her role in the story, as obvious as it sounds. a random substance to fill the glass, a different woman to make the other side of the bed warm, another shoes to wear. caitlyn’s status in the topside although at the end of the day, caitlyn will always come back running to vi.
unless there’s more surprise to this character.
i have to say it.
what is maddie’s purpose here? i could care less about her growing relationship with caitlyn, but what are her plans? who is she in caitlyn’s life and where does she stand? where did she even come from? i am trying to piece every single dot i can connect it with for the sake of the narrative, and i know that caitlyn’s canonically a baddie but this love interest is thrown out of nowhere for me.
