Today was my first post comp workout. It's tempting to go back to what I was doing and lifting heavy but that's not what this week is about. This week is about decompressing and resting up. I've been working hard for the last six months so it's time to rest up for a bit and have some fun. I didn't lift any bells today so I went with a nice body weight workout. Pushups, v-ups, situps, and some row for four rounds. After that I peppered in some squats. It felt great to move around a bit and I recovered nicely from the weekend. This is why I love training. Saturday-
Happy Saturday yāall!Ā I have a full day of eating for you guys to see today-back to macro tracking!
I woke up this morning at 3 am with back pain like you can't even imagine! I literally had to roll off of the bed. Wednesday, when I was deadlifting I went fairly heavy being that it was my first heavy session in about 4 weeks. I felt it tighten up a good bit, so I took a moment and stretched out my hip flexors and got right back to my workout. I woke up yesterday morning and it felt a little tight but nothing extreme, so I went for a 4.5 mile run. Unfortunately, at the end of my run, the bottom literally fell out of the sky immediately into my first stretch. Well, like a bonehead, once I got back home, I didn't take the time to stretch thoroughly and today I am paying for it.
This mornings breakfast: egg whites scrambled with tomatoes and onions, cooked in coconut oil and a side of avocado
A Mid-morning refresher: This is my version of a strawberry slushy. Blend 1 cup of chopped ice, 1/2 of a Kiwi-Strawberry sparkling Ice, 1/2 of a strawberry-kiwi propel, 1 pack of stevia and 1 tsp. of sugar free strawberry Jello mix. Yummy :)
Along with my slushy I had a fruit plate of apple slices, cucumbers and peanut butter.
For lunch I had grilled salmon and zucchini.
After laying around for a good portion of the day, sis and I decided to get out of the house for some low intensity cardio. I needed the movement in order for my hip flexors to loosen up, so I could get a good and thorough stretch in after.
I worked on stretching my hips and lower back for a good 15 minutes. It was painful, but after, I could feel a lot less tension. Tomorrow should be much better!
My mid-afternoon snack was a bowl of protein oats (chocolate), topped with a pinch of granola, cinnamon and stevia.Ā
Tonight's dinner was eggplant cooked in coconut oil, grilled salmon and tomato paste.
My evening snack was a pita wrap with PB2, cucumbers and a glass of almond milk. I was short on my carbs today, soĀ I did sneak back to the kitchen later for some graham crackers and wheat thins.Ā In all honestly, without a workout today (even with rest day macros), I would have been just fine without them, but they sounded so good ;)

2 weeks post #TCMNationalChampionships2017, with the guidance of my #fatwhisperer nutrition coach, @shaequeenifbbpro and my training with my trainer, I've managed to avoid post competition extra weight gain. It is real, it's dangerous and if you are a competitor that had a coach during your prep, I'd recommend you have them help you with #reversedieting so you can maintain a healthy weight in the off season.....don't do what I have done in the past....gained too much fat in off season and had to do EXTRA work to get lean! Maintain your gains and enjoy life without going CRAZY with your cheat meals. I love having an activity that is both enjoyable and provides a good workout. It's about commitment and drive, having coaching and competition gives me something different to work towards. Sometimes being involved in the competitive world of any sport or activity can be stressful and it requires a certain amount of mental strength as well as physical. Post Competition
Saturday night, following the show and a much needed shower scrub, us girls took a trip to In-N-Out Burger. Not a single one of us had ever had it before, so being that it was right across the street from the hotel (and we were exhausted), it was a must try!
It was by no means a five guys burger and fries, but it satisfied my craving for greasy and fried foods. We stopped in at Starbucks and picked up a couple of sweet treats: a chocolate chip muffin and a brown sugar and cinnamon pop tart. All just scrumptious!!!
Sunday morning we woke super early, so we laid around watching Bravo TV, giggling and catching up (just being super girly girls).Ā
We saw a Dennys the night before and it was a must for post show day breakfast pancakes- where we weren't too much troubleĀ (our little inside joke of the morning).
We managed to find a mall and spent our day shopping. It was considered one of ourĀ ālightestā shopping days to date, considering we were near max capacity with our luggage- And of course we got some more eating in throughout the day.
While lunch was considered somewhat healthier (in comparison to burgers and fries), we did manage to find the Chocolate Factory, where I had a larger than usual peanut butter cup and chocolate ice-cream topped with all of the must haves. It was heaven ;)
I spent a large part of my evening in a food coma and managed to get in a nap. When it was time for dinner, we all decided that keeping it somewhat on theĀ ālighter sideā sounded like a good choice, so we caught an Uber to the nearest Panera Bread.
I almost forgot how amazing Panera is!!!! Following dinner, we opted to skip any sweet treats for the evening and decided rather than cab it back (it was just over 2 miles), that we would get some steps in. It was such a nice evening, hot, but there was a nice breeze and we all neededĀ the movement.Ā
Monday morning I woke bright and early and had my first post competition workout at the hotel.Ā
I am definitely feeling fluffy after all my indulging, but it has all been guilt free and worth it ;)Ā
Tomorrow we will be in Alabama where I will spend the summer with my family. Getting into a routine with training and tracking will be tough in the beginning, but I am stoked to spend this time with my family!!!
