Note: I am updating this^^ OG post from 2021 with updated information about our upcoming eclipse cycle (September-October 2025).

We are fast approaching eclipse season and I am already beginning to see the warnings show up across the witch universe. I assume that people who warn others against doing magic during the lunar and solar eclipses mean well but as a longtime astrologer AND witch, I would like to kindly disagree. Eclipse energy can seem unpredictable but also follows some very specific rules (like all lunar energy). If you know and understand these rules, you can get back to doing your normal lunar magic in no time.

To understand how to work with the lunar energy of eclipses, you simply have to combine a basic knowledge of all lunar magic cycles and some basic astrology about the lunar nodes. Don’t worry – I’ll walk you through it.

To start with, lunar energy is quite simple and well understood in the witchcraft community. The old saying “Wax on/Wane off” can be applied to her. When the moon is waxing (from the point of the new moon through the hours before the full moon), it is well aligned to cast spells where you are bringing something towards you and when the moon is waning (from the point of the full moon to the house before the new moon), it is best to cast magic where you are pushing or removing something away from you. This can be simplified as we make wishes or set intentions for growth and forward motion with the new moon and remove and banish with the full moon.

Now we add in our astrology. All eclipses are just supercharged new or full moons where the lunar event falls into alignment with the lunar nodes. The lunar nodes aren’t objects in the sky, they are imaginary points – actual representations of the places in the sky where the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth could fall into a line with one another. This line is oppositional, in the sense that it has a North Node and a South Node which are always found within opposite signs in the natal horoscope chart.

Eclipses always come in pairs*. A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth passes in between the Sun and the Moon and a solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. This always happens on the full moon and new moon, respectively. Because this happens near the lunar nodes, these cosmic events always include a conjunction between the Moon and either the North Node or the South Node.

This is where the complexity of eclipse magic comes into play.

Again – let’s simplify. The north and south nodes are a set of points that travels around the horoscope wheel. Energetically, they represent the tension point between where we’ve been (the South node) and where we are going (the North Node). In order to understand the energies of an upcoming eclipse, you must combine the energy of the lunar event (wax on for new moon/wax off for full moon) with the energies of whichever of the two nodes the moon will be conjunct at that time.

There are three possible options: new/new, old/old, and new/old.

I want to use the two upcoming eclipses to illustrate my point. On Tuesday, 9/17, we will experience a lunar eclipse (an eclipsed full moon) at 25° Pisces. Right now, our North Node is sitting at 06° Aries, and our South Node at 06° Libra; from this we can see that our lunar eclipse will be (widely) conjunct to the North Node. Therefore, we combine the energy of the full moon (old/waning) with the energy of the North Node (new/where we are going).

Likewise, our solar eclipse (eclipsed new moon) will occur at 10° Libra on Wednesday, 10/2. So we combine a new moon's waxing/new energy with the waning/where we’ve been energy of the South Node.

In both cases, these two lunar events will have both the energy of release and the energy of new beginnings at the same time. This is, I believe, the signature that has led many a witch to call eclipse energy “unpredictable” because if you are not accounting for both the push energy of the new and the pull energy of the old, you could easily get caught in a weird magic sandwich somewhere in the middle. We’re not those people though – we are empowered, well-informed witches!

The best way to harness eclipse energy, then, is to make sure that you have accounted both for the lunar energy and the nodal energy within your spell. See also: banishing an old love to make space for the new, or doing a ritual to remove something that is holding you back from pursuing your current goals. Just makes sure that you are working on both the bringing in and the letting go. You could include double action candles to represent both the push and the pull or have a part of the ritual dedicated to each aspect. That part is all you.

In this way, I believe that eclipses may be the best days of the year to perform big magic workings because, it seems to me, that all great endeavors involve both sides of the energetic coin in some fashion or another.

IDK if this is an unpopular opinion, but I really like that they casted Barcode as Porchay, he really looks like he could be related to Apo, and he has the right energy for the character.

And I like how it shaped the history, like I don't care that they didn't kissed on the lips, it made sense that they don't in the series, and I like that their relationship is chaste, from a physical point of the view.

The emotional aspect really payed of for me and there was no unnecessary forced kiss or things like that.

I don't think the history lacks anything for it, on the contrary, I think it enriched the series.

At the end of 2020, we had Jupiter and Saturn move into the sign of Aquarius. Jupiter and Saturn also had their grand conjunction, which only happens every 20 years, and sets the tone for the next 20 years.

Jupiter and Saturn’s grand conjunction occurred in your 12th house of your secret and hidden matters. This can include our self defeating habits, addictions, psychological issues, or spirituality. Jupiter will be in this section of your chart for a year and usually brings expansion, enthusiasm, and luck to the area it is transiting.

Saturn will be in this section of your chart until March 2023 and often brings hard work, restrictions, and delays to matters related to the area that it is transiting. Upcoming Venus retrograde in Capricorn and how it will affect YOU.

Ok, so Venus retrograde isn’t completely rare but it happens every 18ish months and the main goal is to REVIEW YOUR RELATIONSHIPS. It’s a time for PAUSE, REFLECT, and REVIEW. This retrograde will be in Capricorn. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. The Planet of restrictions, lessons, and KARMA.

Venus will preshadow starting December 1-18th, 2021, go retrograde in Capricorn on Dec 19th, 2021 at 26°- Jan 30th, 2021, and post shadow till March 6th, 2021.

During the retrograde, the biggest aspects Venus will make is (all by a tight less than 3° orb):

-conjunct Capricorn Pluto, Sun, and Moon

-inconjunct Aquarius Jupiter, Sun, and Saturn

-trine Taurus Uranus

-square Aries Chiron

If you have natal placements in any Cardinal sign (Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, and Libra), OR Aquarius and Taurus at 10°- 29°, you will be most affected by this retrograde. If you have Venus retrograde in your natal chart, it may cause the energy to be lessened because you already embody some of that energy.

So, what’s this mean for you? Well, as a collective there is some things you should avoid during a Venus retrograde to prevent disaster in your life. Does this mean you have to? No. Live your life! However, keep in mind this retrograde is about karmic lessons and if you do decide to still go through with them, you may be repeating karmic cycles that could end up in either disaster or hard lessons that hopefully you learn from.

What should you not do during Venus retrograde:

1. DO NOT BEGIN A NEW RELATIONSHIP. These relationships will be karmic in nature. You won’t realize it at first, but eventually it will show its ugly face. Dating will not work out during this time.

2. DO NOT RECONCILE OLD RELATIONSHIPS. This will repeat old karmic cycles that we all know we need to break and learn from. Just don’t do it! Prepare for exes to start coming back in your life at this time though. No matter how good some of the relationship was, including the sex, don’t do it!

3. DO NOT PLAN ANY WEDDINGS DURING THIS TIME. If you’re scheduled to be married during the dates of this retrograde and full on trust in the universe and it’s energy, reschedule it. If you still want to continue a wedding during this time, be prepared for some disasters. I would fully expect the relationship with your partner to come to light and some situations may make you want to rethink your marriage.

What Venus in Capricorn Retrograde can manifest in relationships:

-If either you or your partner have any skeletons in the closet, it will be revealed during this time. This is where past karma comes in to play. If you haven’t been entirely truthful, hidden things, kept demons inside, have been cheating, light will be shined upon it. Those shocking revelations could put an upheaval on your relationship and cause one another to reconsider.

-Arguments and even breakups. If the Universe knows that your current relationship is not in align with your life plan and destiny, Venus Rx will surely expose that for you. Arising arguments and unsatisfactory situations will occur more frequently. However, for some (depending on what house Venus will be retrograding in and where Taurus Uranus rx is transiting in your chart) there could be arguments and breakups BUT reconciliations could happen also when Cap Venus rx trines with Taurus Uranus. Uranus is the Planet of Chaos and surprising energy. So, don’t be surprised if Uranus aids in reconciliation around the end of Venus retrograde (Jan 30th, 2022).

Capricorn Venus Rx in the houses:

If you have Capricorn 1H (House of Aries/Mars; Ego/Self): When Cap Venus Rx transits 1st house, the energy will be heavy and make you question what you want to be like in a relationship. How do you see yourself? How do you feel about commitment? You may have been a player most of your life and have some realizations that you don’t want to be that way anymore. Realizing it is a waste of time and energy and you may want to change that about yourself.

If you have Capricorn 2H (House of Taurus/Venus; Income/Self Worth): When Cap Venus Rx transits your 2nd house, expect yourself to question your security and stability. Save money during this time and avoid unnecessary purchases. The purchases you make may become regrettable. FULL MOON IN PISCES

On Monday, 20 September 2021, there is a Full Moon in Pisces and occurs on Pisces – Virgo on the zodiac. Full Moons always shining a light or are a culmination point of what we have achieve so far as a result of our action or intensions which we have put on from the New Moon (in Virgo) during this Lunar Cycle. Every Full Moon brings emotional tensions but this Full Moon is Pieces is levelled up in this regard because Pisces are one of the most (if not the most) emotional sign. 2021 is beginning with two synods intermingling with each other right at the onset. Synods are the dance of external planets and their different phases show up in significant global events which shape our life over a long tenor.

Uranus the planet of sudden changes, freedom, volatility and surprises is making a hard aspect with Jupiter followed by Saturn. These two synods bring about accelerated shifts in progression of human existence usually through scientific and technical breakthroughs. Hard aspect indicates there will be huge resistance, dissonance which would be offered to these accelerated changes creating friction. Hard aspects also show division in society. We would see that play out right in Jan when stationary Mars meets Uranus on 20th Jan resulting in uninhibited action which could be extremely volatile and even violent few days before and after. We crave absolute freedom and different people would have at it in different manner. Uranus brings sudden shifts that are essential for us to live a life of authenticity to ourselves. Jupiter will expand these changes and also underpins that these events are a must for our collective expansion.

There is no planet retrograde till month end, post Uranus goes direct on 14th - speed, unexpected events, sudden need to break through - all is upon us and at a speed we haven’t experienced before. So use this brief calm before it all begins to put down your anchor - imagine if the external dynamics didn’t exist and we were listening to the noise a bit less what you and I could have achieved in 2020. Take that forward to 2021. Create your anchor before the storm, cause if you have an anchor, a definite outcome you could in someways get ahead of it - the storm around it then would just become facilitator and impetus towards that goal. Uranus is a rebel, a pariah, it only cares for you want and you desire and somehow here in this position, it makes it all possible and even ok to go after your desires. There is a freedom in being able to ask what you truly want deep within versus what’s acceptable or what’s kosher. There is no judgement here, you are in this process which used to be described as kundalini release. It’s not that complicated or near as risqué as the word makes out to be. It’s coiled serpent which holds the power of who you truly are and what you desire but somehow social conventions have put such a bad connotation to desire that we would rather loose it at risk of offending others. But what we don’t realize is that we loose our power with our desires - suppression is total. As much as Sagittarius seem always ready to take on the world with their next best idea, they like their daily life to have some consistency and stability, their work environment to have some traditionally valuable output. Uranus in this house of routine, makes it a bit tough to have a routine work environment or routine of any sort. It’s almost like life becomes allergic to any kind of stability or consistency or you could also say - life stops being boring. It’s a perspective shift to get from this feeling of non stop restlessness to accepting that life doesn’t want us to do anything ordinary in our daily life. Work has to be engaging, full of variety and projects need to be unique state of the art. 9-5 or consistent place of working wouldn’t work out with this transit and its not just due to the pandemic this is a transit all the way to 2026 but it would create an urgency to create something unique, creating opportunities and circumstances to work on unique new subjects with steep learning curves. You would need the freedom to set your own schedule and working in a fixed place with fixed coworkers wouldn’t work well. You would have already experienced this to some extend but this need would become larger and output of this more tangible with a structure this year. This is not your comfort zone, working on new projects is but not having a consistent place of working or not having a team or just not having stability in work is not your comfort zone so it could feel like suddenly small problems in daily life are popping up or daily life isn’t that stable. Sometimes disruptions are created to get something unconventional out of us. Though do take active steps to manage this frequent disruption generating nervous energy or even stress through unconventional health routines. This is house of daily activities involving your health as well so you have opportunity to discover new cures, new health routines, workouts not tried before. Mind body connection is strong during this time so lot of physical health would be linked with how you take care of your mind through finding an anchor in meditation, yoga, acupuncture or unconventional health routine or even unusual pets. You could suddenly leave a health habit which blocks your progress or well being. This need for freedom to move and be in daily life would create a concrete structure of a unique role / project / work environment thats more authentic to who you are and who you need to be, to realize the things you always wanted to do but didn’t seem “free” to do. Sometimes in madness of it all - something very unique brilliant and unconventional is given birth to and it sometimes happens in our daily routine, right when its being seemingly being disrupted.

Needless to say the projects you should be working on a day to day basis should be very futuristic and not traditional - even the mode you use to work with your coworkers should be state of art. The health routines should involve use of new innovations in health and you would take well to unconventional medicines under guidance of a practitioner. If and when any allergies or reactions that faced health linked - look towards connection to mind, thoughts especially linked to lack of stability. Mind and thoughts would play a much bigger role in wellbeing as you learn to trust the synchronicity of your mind body. Physical activity is a must to get your focused as this is a nervy energy.

I feel this is the most fun placement of Uranus, its how true passionate wild freedom feels like and its a sensation not so well known to cautious pragmatic Capricorn or at least not exuberantly shown by them. It’s the giggle of a carefree child who has just discovered a new corner or toy or antic and does it for the sake of joy it brings. This the house of doing things so we can reconnect with the child within for whom anything was possible and everything was fun and there was a belief that everything will work out cause they have to. Uranus brings freedom to be that child. It releases a person like Elvis Presley to do his unconventional “moves” and make that his signature.
