but have you SEEEN an eight year old? imagine a full on 3 ft 11 child in a felt costume running around. like not “oh he’s eight” but then robin is built like a full ass teenager. no, none of that. imagine an EIGHT YEAR OLD standing above a crime scene, with chubby cheeks and all going-

“holy homicide batman! looks like whoever did the devilish dead really had it out for this guy!”

THIS NEEDS TO BE A BIGGER PROBLEM.

and it’s the most gruesome, horrific, bloody crime scene ever. and there’s just:

I thought this feisty little critter was an isopod until I got a closer look. This is a carrion beetle larva, and, as their name suggests, adults and larvae of this insect eat dead animals, maggots that live in carrion, and/or other types of decaying organic matter. I have no idea where this one came from, since there were no dead animals nearby or compost. Perhaps an insectivorous bird dropped it, or maybe this particular species likes chicken manure (there was a chicken tractor nearby vroom vroom). Putting this next part below the cut because it's a little gross. Proceed with caution:

This carrion beetle child seemed somewhat hungry, as it was nibbling at some dead skin around my finger nail. It tickled a bit and reminded me of the shrimp they sometimes have at aquariums that will nibble at your fingers. Yes that's a thing.

BREAKING: Israel is currently bombing Syria’s capital city of Damascus, targeting residential areas.

Within a single day alone, Israel has dropped bombs Gaza, South Lebanon and Syria.

One day when I sold jewelry a woman came in with five or six children in tow. All of them shared her dark brown hair except one boy who was violently red-headed.

As I helped her the kids were sitting quietly, entertaining each other. They were all pretty well behaved as it’s mind numbingly boring to be a child in a jewelry store.

She looked me dead in the eye while I logged her jewelry cleaning. Apropos of nothing she announced, “I don’t have a favorite child. But if I did it would be him.” She nodded toward the little red head.

I was utterly speechless. She expected no reply, and the rest of the transaction went completely normally. But I know. Somewhere out there exists a mom whose burning desire to tell someone her favorite child was so irrepressible that she just burst out and dumped that on a stranger.

Somewhere out there a little red headed boy is her favorite.
