astrology notes 3: fixed placements edition

note: these are my personal observations based on the people around me, take what resonate, feel free to add your own observations.

Leo Suns as parents tend to give a freedom to their child and I feel like this is because they want to give the child a space and time to work on their individuality and developing their Sun qualities (self-esteem, vitality and general creativity) Leo understands the importance of a healthy ego and core individuality that will support their child in the future as well as they understand that it's crucial for a child to move from the comfort of the Moon to the creative and boss energies of the Sun.

Leo Moons are forever child at heart even if they are over 50 years old, they strive in these care-free and joyous energies, love to receive and give the attention, and I've noticed this is true even with one of the toughest Sun placements - Capricorn.

Capricorn with Leo Moon is like a soft bear who is very tough on the outside, but is very sweet and affectionate on the inside. also I've noticed that Leo Moons take their hobbies very close to their hearts, same goes to Moon in 5th. when playing with other people, they might get competitive as fuck.

Moon in Scorpio are one of the sweetest people: attentive and caring, very focused if the person is feeling good and comfortable, they can get very anxious to ensure that the person is feeling good to the point it's very cute. I might he highly biased here as my Venus in Scorpio loves LOVES lOvES LoVeS Moons in Scorpio. Moon in Scorpio also respects the privacy of other people as they want their privacy to be respected since they've experience a lot of privacy and boundary violation in childhood.

Tauruses no matter what is the Venus sign are very good at spotting beauty and know best how to make things beautiful, and they in general appreciate the beauty and comfort around them, and they might be very artistic from the very young age, and sometime get clingy, especially in childhood. Taurus vibes to me is: comfort, money, good sleep, food, relaxation, their fashion, skin-care, routine, sex, and again sex, relationships, convenience, consistency, stubbornness, calm confidence, and care.

in general Taurus placements are prone to being very conservative to the point of using very old versions of the OS in their laptop as they know it works best for them, and even if they realise that the new one might be better, but they are still attached to what they are used to. Taurus placements in general they have their own speed of doing things, but Moon in Taurus comes first of being very slow to changes and they need time to prepare for things and occasions to come.

Mothers of Moon in Taurus can be very controlling and dominating but they will give the child the financial prosperity and ensure their child have some stuff in their possessions: like some property.

Spirit’s first message is “don’t freak out,” which isn’t something anyone wants to hear 😆 The Tower is scary looking but it serves the purpose it needs to serve, which is to destroy what isn’t solid in some area of life, here it’s relationships, and you can thank a mixture of Pluto 7th and Virgo SN for that. We’re just gonna start with “the bad,” relationships, and the past. End on a positive note, that’s kind of the mentality they want you to embrace as well - with all things. Everything is meant to be. All of it, and you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be even if where that is isn’t the best place then, now, or in the future; no one is out to get you, not Spirit anyway, people will be people - there’s a purpose for it.

Last year, you underwent a powerful Transformation already, so the moans and groans I’m hearing are probably because you thought you were done and wtf. I feel you 🙏 The Nodes switch at the end of January, to Pisces/Virgo, and your 8th/2nd Houses, mostly money related, along with Pluto causing chaos and transformation in your 7th House of Partners & closest relationships. Intense is an understatement. Some of you will meet someone who blows your mind, it happens out of nowhere, you’re swept away into some amazing new relationship - Pluto 7th. Some of you will be ending major relationships that have either grown apart or something was never truly stable between you, or isn’t anymore - Pluto & Tower. Divorce and marriage are both present with the money houses being triggered. Travel could be involved in either case, relocating, taking a holiday, moving out of the shared home, however travel looks for your situation.

There, we covered the best/worst case scenarios. For the healthy & happy relationships, this Tower is shared and seems to be more about perceptions than love - on your side, it’s your reading. Some of you have Virgo placements, which makes the SN more of a challenge when these things come to you naturally and are a part of who you ARE. But…high vibe is the goal. Low vibe is the no. Virgo came out as a sign to show it’s these low vibe energies that you’ll be dealing with. Perfectionism, criticism, trying to “fix” people and things as if they’re flawed - if/when they’re not or didn’t ask, control, impossible expectations, hermit behavior or toxic independence, which…first time I’ve ever said that wut 😆 and these coming from a pessimistic, judging, complaining, or in a forceful criticism sort of way, pointing the finger outward like other people need to be fixed and you’re all roses 🌹 Both nodes really. Virgo/Pisces is martyr/victim, left brain/right brain, reality/dreams, skilled trade/art, organization/creative mess - and this dynamic plays out in your money houses with the 8th being your direction. Other people’s money, inheritance, joint finances, it’s a balance of what’s mine vs. what’s ours and if not money (which will play a role somehow), then definitely in values. You and your person may have very different values, ways of spending money, financial goals, or again, you could meet the love of your life and get married - it’s no longer “mine” but “ours.” This could also play out in terms of intimacy 💋 or your/their “shadow sides” or traumas and your shared or differing values or expectations surrounding that. You could sell your solo home to move into a shared home - that goes with marriage, along with any other mine/ours investments. A positive to NN and Pluto 7th is that *if* you’re going to engage - it’s gonna be deep. DEEP. Change your whole life kind of deep ❤️ Your relationships are going to transform you in ways you couldn’t manage any other way. I’m not gonna harp on Pluto for 20 years but it’s showing up as the main challenge, and it’s the first full year - I have to. I’m seeing Uranus with the lightning ⚡️ on The Tower, and this moves into Gemini July 7th in your 11th, this could be a time where you meet someone that changes your whole life. Could be through a friend or online.

There is conflicting advice for work, which is to take it easy, remain balanced and unbothered, incorporate your lessons and coast…basically. But stop doing that at home 🙃 Relationships may be jolting and work is your peace. I’m hearing “security blanket,” but I’m not really sure what that means…in this context. It’s the solid thing amid possible chaos, the thing to hold onto in a storm, the Virgo sense of “this is how things are/work/the right way” that is otherwise challenged in other areas. Coasting day to day, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, just roll with it, we’re here for a peaceful day and a paycheck - there’s enough drama to keep you busy elsewhere (potentially). Work is the area of life where you find freedom, creativity, innovation, the ability to expand out of any perceived boxes. Or to be happy in the boxes, could be that too. When it’s raining outside the box is like a sanctuary. Work fills you up where relationships may (but not necessarily) drain you.

There’s a note about something changing or being introduced, it’s new, but it’s nothing major and should be easily incorporated with whatever you do, this Temperance card has ten hands all doing different things, and they’re peaceful, like it’s easy or something. Things that were frustrating or not moving forward will begin doing so at some point, not immediately, because Temperance shows a need for patience as well as Wheel of Fortune showing divine timing, it’s gonna happen when it happens and when it does - it’s positive. Lucky 🎲 even. Same for those looking for a job, worrying isn’t going to get you anywhere faster. Those without a job may be forced to get creative with their ways of making money, and that’s something that’s positively aspected for you. If you’re confused, ask someone who knows or who has made this a success, whatever it is. You will have the support you need from coworkers, bosses, etc. Some of you may be trying to advance by way of some certification, and Real Estate is being highlighted with the nodes. Some of you are just trying to rebuild credit or investing in the things you need that will inevitably do that when you pay off xyz.

The last message in the reading is Spirit getting on your case about laziness, bad eating habits specifically, unhealthy habits across the board but more like self-indulgence with money, however that looks for you. Taurus is reversed here so that’s definitely food, and Healthy Choices shows food - some of you are going to (or need to) incorporate healthier meals into your regimen. Going to the gym if that’s your thing, walking more, whatever. There are heavy Distractions and Dreamy energy that you may call self-care but it’s actually indulgent or wasteful of something to the extent it goes. Probably money. Maybe time idk. Perception rules over these things as something you’re going to have to face due to the Virgo SN as well and finances tie in with that a lot. You can’t afford bills and Door Dash every night, some of you are going to learn how to cook or create organizational ways of cutting back financially - subscriptions, hobbies, food, cleaning services, whatever it is. Earthy things. Money 💰 Especially unhealthy things. Clean your own house and make your own xyz fo’ cheap. I’m seeing someone sew 🪡 their own clothes and that’s just cool 😎, if that’s something you do. Ultimately, Wheel of Fortune is bringing changes in the areas that aren’t that great anyway - where they aren’t, or bringing in things that are and that could be a surprise. Someone’s partner may be Jewish or Indian, that’s random but I’m seeing “kosher” and also like…heavy chicken, curry, no red meat, that kind of thing. Some sort of special diet, pick one idk.

It is all ultimately positive, or will be, and Spirit wants you to continue to have faith during the times when it may not be or something jolts you into a new perception you weren’t expecting (for most), it’s for a higher good even where you’re the problem. It’s for your own good, and it’s really not giving bad vibes, that’s just a possibility that can’t be ignored - the Perception of it may be “bad” but not always, and I’m hearing “you’ll see.” Fixed signs don’t like change and this involves change, it’s ugh, but it’s good or it will be once it all falls into place however it’s supposed to - Wheel of Fortune is a fluctuating (with luck & blessings attached - upright) period of change, all year long.

Spirit also wants me to mention Jupiter moving into Cancer and your 12th House in June, this is a very positive Spirit over your shoulder more or less. An angel that’s got your back. You’re protected from the worst of whatever you may face…the biggest message is to have faith that things are going to work out, because they will. You could have some crazy serendipitous experiences, especially if you have Scorpio placements that form a grand water trine. Some of you could start talking to your own Spirit Guides and meditating more, getting more in touch with your spiritual side. Some of you may get much closer to a maternal figure in your life, or your own children. Don’t have to, but if you do, there it is. Prophetic dreams are also possible being 12th and Pisces energy thinning the veil between what’s in front of us vs. what’s not but…still there, guiding you when/how you need it 🔮 Now you could SEE what before you only believed, or not, something like that.

Takeaway: a feisty, fabulous, me-first strut for the planet of action; it’s time for your passion, courage, and confidence to roar loudly and with pride.  

     My initial plan for this horoscope was to post it as a sort of rah-rah victory cry after the election, because Mars in Leo feels oh-so victorious to me—it’s a feisty, fiery transit full of pride, passion, and so much confidence. In truth, there are large numbers of people who do in fact feel victorious and proud today (some might also be feeling confident, if not smug). I am not one of those people. I wanted, hoped and voted for a different outcome for this election. I wanted the victory, pride and passion to be for / about the first woman president, the trust in women, the promise of tomorrow, and a new way forward. That didn’t happen. I went to bed shook and shell shocked, and sooo not confident.      

     It snowed roughly six inches last night, so I woke to a gray, cloudless sky. No sunshine, no warmth, and no light other than the glaring white of the snow. Doom scrolling sucked me in early this morning; countless minutes I spent on my phone and computer, reading about election results and various news stories about the fate and future of America. I hopped from one platform to the next, hoping to find a nugget of wisdom, truth or reassurance, hoping to read a post—read another person’s words telling me it was all going to be OK. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, which made me feel heavier, made the day and world outside seem even darker. 

     To escape the doomscroll, I went outside. I shoveled the sidewalks and our driveway, grunting in frustration as I scooped heap after heap of heavy white fluff. Hands cold, nose running, and body aching slightly, I kept on shoveling. Why? I needed to clear a path. That was my aim, that was my goal: to clear away the snow, to keep going until the path was clear.

     I found relief in this, to be fully in my body and fully away from the news feeds, away from the chatter, away from my own spiraling thoughts of an uncertain future. In this state—cold with spirits dashed, focusing body and mind on the removal of the snow, I felt momentarily freed and momentarily aware. This is what Mars in Leo is really about, I thought, it’s a transit for doing something with the anger, grief, frustration and fear, releasing the heat in a constructive way… 

     Because the truth is—even if your chosen candidate won last night—we won’t always feel victorious; we won’t always feel like the winner. Any time we have a goal that feels impossible or insurmountable we run the risk of losing; it is humbling and infuriating to lose. But each time you lose, you gain another opportunity to win. As someone who has their natal Mars in Leo, I understand this transit’s deeper message, its inner yearning and tougher lessons. One of those lessons is dealing with loss. Losing can feel like a personal attack, an insult to our ego and pride; humility is not something Leo loves to suffer through. But stewing in feelings of insult and fury don’t do us any good.  

     That said, Mars in Leo can help us channel our fuming funerial feelings—the anger / grief / frustration, the loss—into a new goal, a new purpose, a new way forward. To win, we have to first feel the bite of loss; we have to feel those stings to our pride and our purpose, we have to be humbled, and we have to honor our anger by listening to what, exactly, we are angry about. And then we have to do something about all of that. Humbled, but no less determined, we have to use our feelings of pain and frustration, our sadness, disappointment, and anger as fuel towards the next achievement. Not from a place of revenge, but from a place of purpose. Purpose to do better, purpose to clear a path and to do some good.

     Mars in Leo wants to act, wants to propel a goal or movement forward. But it also encourages us to have faith—faith in ourselves and faith in tomorrow, to roar with confidence and to give confidence to those who need it. Leo is ruled by the Sun, and the Sun is a shining beacon of promise. We wake up everyday knowing the sun will shine. Again. Again. We wake up knowing we will feel the warmth of the Sun again. So that’s what I hope you take away from Mars in Leo. Mars in Leo is resolute. It is strategic, focused, and forceful. It teaches us the strength of our power, our courage, and our resolve; it also underscores the importance of leading proudly, boldly and with so much light. As I was writing this, Vice President Kamala Harris gave her concession speech, and she talked about this light, saying: “The light of America’s promise will always burn bright, as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.” So, that is what we all must do: never give up and keep fighting. Proudly, boldly, and with a clear purpose for good.

The Leo constellation is one of the most prominent in the night sky, being the 12th largest and also equatorial, it can be seen from almost everywhere on Earth. Its brightest star is the blue-white Regulus or "Alpha Leonis” and can be found just under the lion’s mane.

In Greek mythology, Leo is associated with Hercules and the Nemean lion. In ancient Egypt the appearance of the Leo constellation corresponded to the annual flooding of the Nile, which brought much needed irrigation for the year.

     There’s a decision every astrologer must make in their forecasts: to be real, to be Pollyanna, or to be doom-and-gloom. I aim to be real and proactive, with a tinge of Pollyanna optimism about astrological transits, because I don’t believe astrology is here to ruin or run your life. In fact, I believe that when armed with the themes and potential struggles of planetary transits, you can better work with them, you can use them to better your life. But above all else, I believe YOU have power over your own life. I don’t believe the “stars” dictate your decisions anymore than your Mom does (unless you’re a Cancer, of course). 

     That said, I don’t want you to fear this (or any) Mercury Retrograde. This is a transit that happens three times a year; which means it’s a normal part of the astrological cycle. That also means that it isn’t something to fear, fret over, or fuss about. (I mean, it’s happening in Virgo, so there will likely be some fussing—but you know what I mean.) Will it be a little messy? Probably. Is it still an opportunity? Abso-fucking-lutely. So, let’s unpack why this is, shall we?

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo: An OS Overhaul

     Virgo is the sign of precision, detail, and efficiency. It’s like that diligent system admin who’s always optimizing, debugging, and fine-tuning every aspect of the operating system of your life. When Mercury is in Virgo, it’s like having a high-speed processor that makes everything run seamlessly. But during Mercury retrograde? It can feel like your OS decides to install a series of untested updates. They can wreak havoc on your once-flawless system—if you ignore the notifications blaring in your face about upgrading. (That’s mostly for me, because I’m the WORST at upgrading my apps.) 

     How to avoid havoc? First, run a diagnostic check. Just as you would run a diagnostic on a glitchy OS, take time to assess where things are going haywire. Identify areas of your life that need extra attention and care. If things feel overwhelming or convoluted, it’s probably because you’re trying to run too many programs. So, close all those browser windows and clear the cache. Your mind can quickly get bogged down with too many details, too many projects, too many thoughts. Clear the mental cache by taking breaks, slowing down, or simply stepping away from overwhelming tasks. Fresh eyes can solve many problems. 

   When Mercury Retrograde hits Virgo, perfectionism panic is practically inevitable. Your inner critic might go into overdrive, spotting flaws everywhere, even where none exist. This hyper-awareness can lead to analysis paralysis, where decisions you usually make in a snap suddenly feel like life-or-death scenarios. And don’t even get me started on tech tantrums—your meticulously planned schedules and lists could go haywire thanks to those pesky tech glitches. But remember: it’s not all doom and gloom. This is a cosmic nudge to let go of the need for everything to be perfect. Because spoiler alert: it never will be.

Mercury Retrograde in Leo: Star Power

     Mercury in Leo is all about bold self-expression, confidence, and a flair for the dramatic. But when it goes retrograde, expect the drama to hit a new high. Your inner diva might rear its head, leading to ego clashes and misunderstandings. Everyone wants to be the star, but there’s only one spotlight, and it’s flickering! Public missteps and foot-in-mouth moments become almost inevitable, making you feel like you’re trapped in a never-ending blooper reel.

     Indeed, Mercury Retrograde in Leo can feel like an unscripted reality show where everyone’s vying for the spotlight. Ego clashes are probable. Misunderstandings fueled by pride will be the main act. And that brilliant creative idea / creative project you’ve been nursing? It might feel stuck in your head, leading to frustrating creative blocks. The likelihood of having public missteps (or metldown) is higher than average, so beware of saying something cringe-worthy in the heat of the moment—or worse, on social media! With Mercury Retrograde in Leo, it can seem like you’ve been handed a microphone with a faulty connection, and your words aren’t coming out as intended.

     So, how do you survive this two-week cosmic drama without becoming a meme-worthy disaster? First, think before you speak. Leo is a fire sign, and fire signs can get overheated FAST. Meltdowns, either mental or technological, could happen; but they can also be avoided when you channel your frustration, anger, and/or irritation into creative / playful / performative acts. Sing. Dance. Play tennis. Do SOMETHING physical. Oh, and be sure to revisit and refine your creative projects. That stuck idea? It’s a chance to polish it to perfection. That frustration? It’s a sign you’re not expressing yourself the way you’d like.
