i actually am a defender of georgie and melanie and basira being mean or rude to jon bc that man really needed to be put in his place sometimes. like i understand that they were also wrong sometimes— basira is hypocritical and the other two could be nastier than necessary, but i literally cannot blame them at all. jon was so out of line sometimes

Okay I've enjoyed Johnlock in some amazing fics, but them being canon, or even platonic besties after S3 seems weird to me. Reasons being:

John has never actively chosen to stay with Sherlock. If Mary hadn't died, by all means they would've been estranged friends.

John wasn't even willing to put Sherlock second, he actually placed him last. He was willing to choose someone who murdered Sherlock over Sherlock. That.. would be callous even for a friend, let alone a best friend or a romantic partner.

This, without taking into account S4's horrendous events, which in my book are absolutely unforgiveable.

I'm glad S2!John lives on in this amazing fandom's fics and art. It is through them that I can enjoy the unique, crazy bond these two share.. because the show ripped it apart rather brutally. I think in some ways I'll always be upset about what happened, but Thank God for fix-its!
