I'm losing my mind over the 100 mil dragon having finally happened

Like. I wasn't around for it but Holy Shit. If you're not into IDs I need you to understand how special this is. We went up a digit. All IDs are 9-digit now

For us to see an event like this again there would need to be another 900 million dragons born, which is an absolutely mind-boggling number and also completely out of the reasonable lifespan of any website

This Is It. Some of you were here early enough to see the rollover from 7-digits to 8-digits, or even 6-digits to 7-digits and so on and so forth. Most of us weren't. But you were here for the dawn of 9-digits and you will never see something like this occur ever again for as long as Flight Rising exists

cordelia begins as this shallow, cruel person, but then as time goes on her capacity for compassion grows and grows, and she eventually becomes one of the most heroic & selfless characters in the buffyverse. in "To Shanshu in LA" her mind gets opened to all the feelings of all the people in the world and her response is, "There's so much pain. We have to help them."

willow starts as a softspoken and generally kind person who has a little bit of a mean streak. and as she becomes more self-assured, that mean streak widens to the point where she's telling people to shut up, and she's manipulating them to her will because she thinks she knows better, and she's threatening the people who care about her. she becomes a megalomaniac and a murderer, and in "Grave" her mind gets opened to all the feelings of all the people in the world and her response is to try and destroy it.

had a rare Good Doctor Appointment this week & i'm lowkey still riding off the high of "holy shit he treated me like a human being" so uhhhh here are my professional unprofessional metrics for what specific qualities make a doctor visit "good." i know my fellow disabled peeps are pretty used to bad doctor visits, so a doctor being not-bad is already a win, but here's my personal list of what turns it all the way to Good

they greet you like a person (i.e. a handshake when they come in the room)

that they listen to + believe you is a given, so i'm gonna add asking the right questions

when they tell you what the issue is (or that they agree with whatever a previous doctor or you said), they explain their reasoning. i went to an orthopedist visit, so for me, he said "i agree that the problem is X because when you do [specific movement], it indicates Y."

not abandoning previous doctors' treatment plans in favor of their own (like taking you off of a medication and starting PT instead of continuing the meds and starting PT)

having a specific and measurable "if/else" treatment plan: "we are going to try PT for 6 weeks and reassess. IF it improves your pain to a suitable level, we'll continue it; ELSE, we'll talk about [more invasive treatment]."

idk if this will necessarily help anybody, but i was trying to dissect what made the visit a good one in my head, & this was the conclusion i drew. my fellow disabled or chronically ill peeps are welcome to add on.

knowledge is a curse, y'all. i want to write whump fic about a snakebite... but i also don't wanna fearmonger about snakes. on the one hand, they rarely bother people (and even more rarely are the aggressors) & predators are important for top-down ecosystem control. on the other hand... my favorite characters are often alone in the wilderness & they hurt so pretty.
